The T-6 shuttle shook violently, with alarm panels going left and right. The ship had detected a nebula in the pilot's absence and disengaged the hyperdrive.
Ronin's eyes flew open as he woke up. He had fallen out of his chair and had sustained a severe bruise on his right Rib. He groaned in pain as he picked himself up and gasped in panic as he realized the ship was now in a nebula, with shades of blue and red gasses covering everything in sight. Ronin looked over to the pilot's seat only to see his Master knocked out and sprawled across the floor. Ronin then looked around at the controls, and he assessed the situation that they were in.
"Dank Farrik! I knew we shouldn't have made a blind jump!" Ronin growled.
Ronin pushed his Master aside and instinctively reached for the hyperdrive lever, realizing they had already been automatically pulled out of hyperspace. He went for the central control console and disabled the autopilot, taking control of the vessel. Ronin increased the forward shields and lowered the power of the main engines, slowing the vehicle down. Unfortunately, the ship had stopped halfway through the nebula, and it was the same distance out no matter which way, but Ronin had regained control of the vessel for the time being.
Ronin held his arm up to talk into his commlink, only to realize it was broken and fizzling out, sending tiny sparks into the air.
"Must've hit my arm against the ship and broken it," Ronin said to himself.
Ronin then pressed the button for the intercom.
"R-5, I need you to activate the medical droid for Master Yothalt." I think he took a harder hit than I did." Ronin said as he looked down at his Master.
R-5 acknowledged Ronin from a port back in the storage area.
"I know I told you to work on that old K-Series, but Master Yothalt is a little more important right now!" Ronin said over the intercom.
R-5 replied with a series of annoyed whistles and beeps.
"Don't give me that attitude, R-5! Just get the med droid!" Ronin growled.
R-5 then decided to beep and whistle in a pattern resembling a well-known galactic curse word.
"If you don't shut it, I'm gonna fasten a restraining bolt to your hull, now get the droid!"
R-5 beeped a retort again.
"Don't tempt me."
After about a minute, R-5 returned with the medical droid.
"What seems to be the problem, sir?" The medical droid asked.
My Master got knocked out when our ship came out of hyperspace. We must've grazed an asteroid when we went into the nebula, and both he and I were knocked out when it happened. I'm fine, but I need you to take him back to the med pad and check his vitals." Ronin said.
"That is my programming." The medical droid said as he picked up the fallen form of Master Yothalt and carried him back to the med pad near the rear of the Jedi transport.
"As for you, you and I will have a little talk when we get ourselves out of this mess," Ronin said, pointing the finger at R-5.
R-5 beeped another insult and turned around to leave.
"You're lucky I'm preoccupied at the moment."
R-5 chuckled as he rolled back to the storage room.
"Now, I've got to get us out of this. Frankly, I'm shocked we didn't hit anything on entry." Ronin said to himself.
At that moment, several signals showed up on the ship's radar. Ronin peered through the window to better see what the contacts were when he saw several neebray mantas out of the cockpit window.
"Gas guzzlers. Just my luck."
Ronin veered to the left as several neebrays flew directly on his right, with one flying too close and knocking out the transport's communication array.
"Well, there goes our updates for the council at the moment," Ronin said to the cockpit as he dodged another Manta with barely a few meters between it and the ship's hull. Unfortunately for Ronin, T-6 shuttles were not built for maneuverability and were much more extensive and slower than a majority of most starships. As the ship continued onward through the nebula, Ronin could almost see the end of the nebula. Before Ronin could pull the shuttle out of the nebula, another group of neebray flew by, scrapping against one of the main thrusters and colliding with the other two. Due to the impact, the transport spun out of control. Now caught in the gravitational field of Malachor, Ronin had no choice but to attempt a crash landing on the surface.
"Well. There go our chances for a smooth landing. At least we're still going to make it to Malachor." Ronin said as he grasped the controls.
Ronin clicked the intercom again: "R-5, unless you want to be turned into scrap metal and salvaged by a bunch of jawas, I suggest you get up here now and help me land this thing!"
This time, R-5 quickly responded and was at the cockpit briefly.
"Alright, R-5, cut off all power to the far right engine and divert it to the other two. And divert whatever's left to the bottom shields. Hopefully, it can protect the hull a little upon entry."
R-5 beeped worriedly.
"Don't worry, buddy. We'll make it out okay. I should be able to make a decent landing for the ship. I've still got two decently functioning thrusters, after all. Better than none." As Ronin said this, the middle thruster went out. "Scratch that. It looks like we only have one. R-5, tell the medical droid to secure Master Yothalt and magnetize himself in his charging chamber. Then go and do the same with you and that old K-Series."
R-5 whistled worriedly.
"Oh, so now you're concerned about me?"
R-5 beeped affirmatively.
"Well, I appreciate the sentiment, but I'll be fine. This fastening system is pretty secure. No, go and magnetize yourself." Ronin said with a chuckle.
R-5 whirled off while Ronin was left to try and land the ship in one piece. Ronin wrestled against the controls as the shuttle's controls nearly overpowered him. Ronin adjusted the ship's wings to be horizontal rather than vertical. The ship was gaining speed as the hull of the ship began to warp and change colors due to the immense heat of reentry. The ground was steadily getting closer and closer until... WHAM! The ship collided with the surface of Malachor and skidded across the surface until it came to a cricketing stop.
"A decent landing if I do say so myself," Ronin said as he wiped the sweat off his brow.
"Now, what have we gotten ourselves into?" Ronin said as he stared out the scuffed window of the shuttle.
"That, my apprentice, is a good question."
