Fiore Kingdom. Magnolia. Y x793
Aiden's and Nashi's sudden actions left Yume with more trouble than she signed up for - in a guild that wasn't even hers! She wondered if any of her friends remembered that Yume was never Fairy Tail to begin with - what with the main fighters of Phoenix being Nashi, Aiden, Kori and Maine, people often forgot Yume herself was Lamia Scale.
Well, until they chose to give up their guild marks and form a new one - Phoenix Ascension. The name was cheesy, but Lyra had chosen it, and it did sound nice in her ears - it also felt somewhat better knowing that the remaining resistance were all together.
After Aiden's exit, Makarov decided to demand more answers. The attack by random shadows also bothered him.
Nashi sat down at a random table.
"Should your friend go alone?" Levy asked worriedly, "it sounded like a powerful enemy has your group."
"He'll be ok," Yume answered, "he's pissed and he needs to take action. He's used to being the one calling the shots and leading rescue missions."
"A teenager?"
"Aiden's almost twenty," she replied to Laki, "I'm sorry, I wish I could be more forthcoming about… well, everything."
"Then be more forthcoming," Jellal demanded, "what is after you? Where did your friends go right after arriving in the past? What were you running from? Did someone follow you?"
"No," Nashi spoke before Yume could, and the dreamer felt relief: she didn't really know what was going on. "Nobody followed us here-"
"You can't be sure of that-"
"I can because I saw the world end," she revealed, and now even Yume widened her eyes. She felt a cruel shock hit her, and had a hard time comprehending her friend's words. The others seemed horrified, "I was the last one through the time void before there was nothing left. There's no one alive to follow us," she sounded cold and heartless, but Yume noticed that nobody seemed too judgemental about it.
"Wait, you're saying that something will literally end the world?" Levy asked, trembling. Gajeel put a hand on her shoulder.
"Which answers your other question: we're not running from anyone, we came here because it was a last resort. Time traveling was a means to survive and try to prevent what's coming. This was as far as I could take us," Yume figured that her last sentence was a lie, but nobody seemed to doubt it. "But it's far enough. You have resources and knowledge we never had access to, or time to research. We need that. We need help, or life as we know it will end."
"That doesn't explain why we just got a few surprise attacks," Laxus pointed out.
"My guess is that the other group tried to take action and eliminate one part of what ended the world, thus making it so that all of us got on their radar," Nashi was sincere then, "none of them should be ready for a battle anytime soon, not with the amount of magic I took."
"Why did you do that? If you failed, or landed on a dangerous place, they'd be dead," Cana questioned.
"Have you ever tried anything close to a time jump with your magic? Zeref built an entire magical structure that empties the magic of everyone around it in order to power up, and also needs the magic from all twelve zodiac keys, and I just did the same magic on a whim. Crossing over ten people through space and time demands more magic than you can even imagine, and like I said, the world was ending. It was either that or just die right then and there, and I swear I won't die until I defeat him."
Her tone got fiercer and angrier by the end of her speech, and Yume saw Cana shiver and look a bit scared.
"Who? Who's this terrifying enemy?" Makarov pushed.
"His name is Ankhseram," Yume replied after Nashi looked like she wouldn't say a thing, "he's known by most as a God, but he's… he's something else entirely. Stronger than Gods, crueler than demons, he wiped the world and created an entire race of demons and enslavers. We grew up fighting his troops, and our numbers decreased harshly with time."
She stopped when tears reached her eyes.
"Those dark creatures you saw outside are demons," Nashi picked up, and Makarov seemed surprised, "but they are low level ones. I'm guessing that the people who create them are just now learning how to do it right."
"Isn't Ankhseram the one behind Zeref's curse?" Levy asked, now paying full attention to the girls. "I thought he was a good guy?"
"Do you really think that a god who curses a person to live forever in misery is good?" Nashi questioned, "besides, he didn't curse Zeref, that whole story was a lie told by the scholars along with some dragons. Although I'd rather tell the real one when Zeref and Mavis are also here to listen."
At that, Erza and Mira stepped forward, now looking sorry.
"I don't think you jumped far enough to talk to them," Mira said sadly, "they both died in the Alvarez war."
"No, they didn't," Nashi said, now shocking even Yume, "like I said, time jump was a plan B, but even if I didn't want to act on it, I made sure that if we ever did, everything would be just right. There is one person alive who has close magic ties with the Time God, enough that she could time jump her consciousness into her past self. We made sure that she came back and interfered just at the right time to stop those two from dying." as she spoke, she saw everyone's expressions change slowly from surprise, to horror, to complete and utter confusion, "they should be alive, although I do need to confirm it."
"You're saying that you meddled in a war and saved the life of the guy who wants us all dead?" Jellal seemed to get angrier at each word he spoke, "the man who caused all of us pain and horror?"
Nashi sighed.
"Let's stop blaming others for your crappy choices, shall we? Zeref literally has no choice but to hate the world otherwise he'll end it. You and everyone else here who did crappy stuff had a choice," she said coolly, and Yume wanted to shut her up, but before she could, Nashi raised a hand and the dreamer instinctively held back.
Makarov and Mira both watched that little exchange closely.
"I like her," Cana said, smirking, and Mira giggled.
"Fine, so you made it so Mavis and Zeref survived. Why?"
Nashi stood up.
"Like I said, I'd rather only tell this story once, so I'll go get them," she stepped forward but Jellal got in her way. She raised an eyebrow, and waited.
"We can't just knowingly let a random girl go meet with Zeref," Jellal said and looked at Makarov, who agreed. "Maybe you're telling the truth but I can't risk it. We can't risk it. I'm coming with you."
Nashi sighed then shrugged.
"Take care of things here," she said to Yume and Lyra, and with that she turned and left. Yume looked apologetically at Jellal, who stared incredulously at the careless rude pink haired girl.
"Jellal-san," Yume called after a while in silence, before he could go after Nashi. She handed him a piece of paper and he frowned upon reading it, but nodded at her, then left.
It said simply keep her safe.
