A/N: I'm back. Maybe, possibly. I'm mostly just writing this chapter for fun. I've lost all my planning notes for this story, so we might get some soft retconning and different characters moving forward, but at the very least, we can enjoy something new. And, in more good news, I've improved my writing style a LOT over the last few years. (Also I'm switching how I handle these battles. I find action orientated to be much more fun to write out than a turn based bullet hell system) ENJOY!
Chapter 13: Befriending the Skeleton.
Snowdin town was a delightful little place, full of all kinds of interesting Monsters of all shapes, sizes and colours, a true far cry from the more forlorn Monsters of the Ruins. A place you could call home with a thriving community. Maybe that's what drew out the smile on Rebecca's face as she looked around at the snow covered Christmas Tree, the misspelled Librarby and the charming shop with its adorable owner.
However, they had a job to do.
"Just one Bicicle!" Xion said as she looked up at Roxas with wide, innocent eyes, totally not set on just new ice cream being available to them.
"Ohhh... OK, just the one." Roxas replied and headed inside the shop, returning soon after with a red ice cream. It had two sticks so Roxas easily turned it into two Unicicles!
Rebecca rolled her eyes affectionately and lead the way down the town with Sora, past a tavern labelled 'Grillby's' and a house that had two letterboxes. One overflowing with letters labelled 'sans', and the other, completely empty of any sign of letters labelled 'PAPYRUS'.
Slightly further down, they became enraptured in a snowstorm even worse than what Elsa had conjured up.
"I can't see a thing!" Rebecca shouted to the others through the rushing, freezing snow which magically melts off of them with each step, but still managed to make Xion and Sora begin shivering.
However, their salvation lay just up ahead. Through the harsh snow, the outline of Papyrus awaited them.
"HUMANS! YOU HAVE DONE WELL TO MAKE IT HERE!" Papyrus said to them. "HOWEVER! YOUR JOURNEY ENDS HERE! I SHALL TAKE YOU CAPTIVE, THEN UNDYNE WILL HAVE TO LET ME INTO THE ROYAL GUARD! SO PREPARE, HUMANS!"
As one, they all stood at the ready, prepared to fight Papyrus if it came to it. However, to their surprise, Papyrus only sent out a number of blue bones which simply passed through them, as long as they stayed stock still.
"We don't want to fight, Papyrus!" Rebecca shouted to him, giving him pause.
"YOU WISH TO SPARE ME? VERY WELL! THEN I SHALL USE MY SPECIAL ATTACK!" Papyrus said in response and started to once again send out a deluge of blue bones, much, much closer than the last ones.
They stayed still once again, then suddenly... they shrunk and a blue outline appeared around them just before a small, white bone slammed into them!
"YOU'RE BLUE AND MINIATURE NOW! THAT'S MY ATTACK!" Papyrus laughed loudly! "NYEH HEH HEH!"
Sora looked at the others who'd taken a bruise from the bone hitting them.
"Everyone, on your toes!" Sora told them.
"Heal!" Rebecca shouted out, using Cure to heal them of their bruises.
Papyrus then began sending out bones once again, this time far more deviously. Using the blue bones to force Rebecca to stop moving mid rolling and jumping to avoid taking damage from them. Something Xion had learned at a cost by trying to dodge through one, only to take some damage from it.
"THIS IS YOUR LAST CHANCE, HUMANS!" Papyrus announced. "IF YOU DON'T GIVE UP NOW, I WILL HAVE TO USE MY FINAL ATTACK!"
"Yeah... not happening, Papyrus." Rebecca told him with a look of pure determination on her face.
"VERY WELL, HUMANS! BEHOLD MY FINAL ATTACK!" Papyrus said and held up his hand. A large, extremely creepy skull rose up from the floor next to him and opened its mouth.
"Oh, shit!" Rebecca shouted and pushed everyone to the side as the Blaster fired, sending out a massive laser which struck a tree behind them, making it explode, sending wood splinters and snow everywhere.
"I'M... OUT OF ATTACKS. VERY WELL! I, PAPYRUS, ELECT TO GRANT YOU MERCY!" Papyrus told Rebecca and the others who just groaned in response.
The storm finally cleared and the humans all returned to normal.
"Oh, you did not want to make that easy, Papyrus." Rebecca said, stretching out her back, making it pop as a result.
"NYOO HOO HOO..." Papyrus said sadly. "I CAN'T EVEN CAPTURE A HUMAN WHEN THERE'S FOUR OF THEM..."
"Well..." Xion said hesitantly, trying to think of the right words to reassure Papyrus.
"We think you're very scary." Roxas said, taking Xion's hand.
"Yeah, we got very lucky to survive." Sora said, nodding along. Of course, the reality of the situation was that they'd been nowhere near close to being defeated, but being kind was what they knew Papyrus needed right now.
Papyrus cheered up almost instantly.
"THANK YOU, HUMANS. WELL, I SHALL NOW LEND YOU MY AID! CONTINUE ALONG THIS PATH INTO WATERFALL, I'M SURE UNDYNE WILL BE HAPPY TO HELP YOU ALL REACH THE CASTLE! THERE, YOU WILL MEET KING ASGORE! HE... HE... HE'S A BIG FLUFFY PUSHOVER, EVERYONE LOVES THAT GUY! I'M SURE THAT IF YOU TELL HIM YOU JUST WANT TO GO HOME, HE'LL TAKE YOU THROUGH THE BARRIER HIMSELF!" Papyrus said. "GOOD LUCK!" And with that, he floated up into that air and stepped over everyone before exiting stage left.
"I'll be honest, I'm glad that's over." Rebecca told the others. "As nice as he was, he was starting to get on my nerves."
Sora just took her hand and squeezed slightly. "Come on, no time to lose."
Together, they continued on. The snow gave way to blue rocks and rushing water which passed by them with a soothing trickling sound.
End Chapter.
Well, here you go. It was INCREDIBLY shorter than normal, but we finished up Snowdin.
Now, I doubt I'll keep writing this story...
I have something new and even more massive in mind. It's KH based starring a number of other properties. I hope you enjoy that when I post it.
