Ethan and other sorted students followed the fifth year slytherin perfect who was leading them to their common room. They walked down to the dungeons and stopped in front of a seemingly ordinary stone wall. The Slytherin student turned to the first-years and spoke in a cold, calculated tone.

"This is the entrance to our Common Room," she said, gesturing towards the wall. "As you can see, it looks like a simple wall. However, in the right upper corner, if you look closely, you will be able to see a carving of a snake. That is what shows the entryway. To go in, we have to say the password. It changes every month on the first day. When you wake up in the morning, you will find a blank piece of parchment on your nightstand. To reveal the new password, you just have to put the tip of your wand on the parchment and say the password being used. The parchment will destroy itself at the end of the day."

The Slytherin student paused, her eyes flickering with a hint of malevolence. "But remember," she continued, "the password is only for members of our house. If anyone else tries to enter, they will be met with a nasty surprise." Ethan observed her with a sense of calculating.

As no one said anything the girl turned back to the wall and said.

"Pure blood."

Before their eyes the wall slid to the side and revealed the entrance to the Slytherin Common Rooms.

As the wall slid to the side, Ethan stepped into the Slytherin Common Room. The first thing that hit him was a wave of strong magic that seemed to emanate from the stone walls. The dimly-lit room was decorated in dark shades of green, black, and silver. The furniture was all made of polished black wood, with intricate carvings of snakes and skulls etched into the armrests of the chairs.

The fireplace was large and crackling with green flames, casting eerie shadows around the room. The walls were adorned with dark tapestries that depicted various scenes of battles and conquests. The floor was made of rough-hewn stone, and several fur rugs were scattered around the room, their softness a sharp contrast to the harshness of the stone. It was decorated in black and several shades of green. The black furniture and green highlights added to the overall ambiance, giving the impression of a place that was both luxurious and intimidating. As he walked further into the room, he saw that there were several tapestries hanging from the walls, all depicting snakes in various positions.

The girl that had led them to the common room turned to face them again, but this time she was joined by a boy.

"Welcome to Slytherin," said Alexis Bletchley, a fifth year prefect, as she and Malcolm Linndon, another prefect, stepped forward to greet the first year students. "I'm Alexis Rosier and this is Malcolm Linndon. If you have any questions or troubles, you can come talk to us. If we don't know how to help you, we'll talk to the prefects from the year above us."

One of the first years raised their hand tentatively.

"Yes?" Alexis said, turning her attention to the student.

"What's the password for this month?" the first year asked.

Alexis smiled wryly. "Sorry, I can't tell you that. You'll have to wait until tomorrow morning to find out."

Ethan eyed the two prefects warily. He wasn't the type to trust easily, but he knew that he would have to play the game if he wanted to succeed at Hogwarts.

"Your dorms are through those doors," Alexis said, pointing to the first door on their left. "You'll find that each room is private, and you can make it your own in any way you see fit. Want to create the illusion of a window? Go ahead. Want to add some extra ward? You can do that too. Just remember not to use any dark magic or spells that could harm others."

Ethan's ears perked up at the mention of enchantments. He had always been drawn to the strong and darker side of magic, and the idea of creating wards in his room intrigued him.

One of the first years looked a bit sceptical. "What if we don't know how to do any of that?"

Malcolm grinned. "Well, that's where the fun begins. You'll have plenty of time to learn all sorts of spells and enchantments during your time here at Hogwarts."

"Nobody can enter your rooms without your permission, except for the professors, of course," Alexis went on. "And while you can add defensive and offensive wards, you're not allowed to add any wards that kill immediately. Aside from that, everything goes."

Ethan smirked to himself. He had a feeling that there were ways to get around that particular rule.

"And lastly," Alexis said, "I want you all in the common room tomorrow at eight thirty so that we can take you to the Great Hall. We'll be doing this for the next three days to make sure you know your way around."

With that, the two prefects bid the first years goodnight and disappeared up the stairs to their own private dormitories.

As the first years settled into their own rooms, they couldn't help but feel a bit intimidated by the mysterious atmosphere of Slytherin. But they were determined to make the most of their time at Hogwarts, and were excited to begin their studies in magic.

Ethan stood with a few Durmstrang students who had been sorted into Slytherin, including Isabella Moon.

Isabella Moon, a fellow Slytherin and old acquaintance of Ethan's, caught his eye as they made their way to the dorms. She flashed him a quick smile and a nod of acknowledgment, which Ethan returned with a curt nod of his own.

As they approached the door to their shared dorm, Isabella turned to Ethan and spoke up. "Hey, Ethan, it's been a while. How have you been?"

Ethan shrugged nonchalantly. "Isabella! It's great to see you. I've been doing alright, thanks for asking.

Isabella chuckled. "Same here. It's been a wild ride, but I'm glad we're both in Slytherin together. We can look out for each other."

Ethan nodded in agreement. "Absolutely. Slytherin has a reputation, but that doesn't mean we can't have each other's backs., so be careful.

Isabella smirked. "Oh, I think they'll figure that out soon enough. But you're right, we can't let them underestimate us."

With that, they bid each other goodnight and entered their respective rooms. Ethan couldn't help but feel a sense of camaraderie with his fellow Slytherins, including Isabella.

Ethan stood in front of his room, his hand hovering over the doorknob. He took a deep breath, steeling himself for what awaited him beyond the threshold. As he pushed open the heavy wooden door, the scent of damp stone and musty air greeted him. The room was spartan, as he had expected, but it was the lack of natural light that truly caught him off guard. The stone walls, floor, and ceiling absorbed all the light that dared to enter, rendering the room a cave-like abyss. Even the furniture seemed to blend into the shadows, made of a dark, foreboding wood.

The only respite from the darkness came from the bed, its sheets and cover a light grey that almost glowed in the gloom. As he moved around the room, inspecting the sparse furnishings, he couldn't help but feel a sense of unease settling over him. He knew he had to make the best of it, but he couldn't help feeling a twinge of regret at the thought of spending eight years in this room.

But Ethan wasn't one to be discouraged. He immediately got to work, drawing his wand and muttering incantations under his breath. With a flick of his wand, he started to transform the room, starting with the walls. Using the spell "Picto Wallum," he etched protective runes into the stone walls. These runes would create a powerful ward, which would only allow Ethan and those he gives permission to enter the room.

The bookcase was next, and with a wave of his wand and the incantation "Mobiliarbus," the bookcase floated up and positioned itself neatly against the wall.

Ethan was pleased with the progress he had made, but there was still more to be done. With a tap of his wand, he levitated the desk and wardrobe and placed them in their rightful places, using the spell "Wingardium Leviosa." Once everything was in place, he proceeded to add the finishing touches to the room.

Using the spell "Enchanted Ember," he created a small fireplace in the corner of the room, which emitted a slightly warm and green ambiance.

Finally, he cast the "Muffliato" charm to create a soundproof barrier around the room, ensuring that he wouldn't be disturbed by any outside noise.

Ethan was satisfied as he gazed at his handiwork, knowing that he had created a sanctuary where he could rest and relax.

Ethan's attention was drawn to a small door at the far end of the room. He pushed it open to reveal a surprisingly luxurious bathroom. The room was adorned in silver and light greens, and the bathtub was large enough to fit two people. Ethan couldn't help but feel a glimmer of hope as he imagined himself relaxing in the warm water after a long day of classes.

Satisfied that his room was secure, Ethan slipped into his pyjamas and crawled into bed, feeling safe and content.

As Ethan climbed into his bed, Seraphina, his magical snake, slithered out of the tattoo on his neck and made herself comfortable next to him. They had been inseparable since Ethan first discovered her beck in Germany and she had been a loyal companion ever since.

"Good evening, my dear Seraphina," Ethan said in Parseltongue, stroking her scales. "It has been a long day, hasn't it?"

Seraphina hissed in agreement and nuzzled her head against Ethan's hand. "Quiet, as always," Seraphina replied. "But I am always here with you, I must say, this room is rather bleak.

Ethan smiled at the snake. He had been born with the rare gift of Parseltongue and had always felt a special connection with snakes. He had even gotten a tattoo of a snake on his neck, which was where Seraphina resided.

"I'm glad to have you with me," Ethan said, his voice filled with sincerity

Seraphina nuzzled against Ethan's hand affectionately.

He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small parcel wrapped in brown paper. "I brought you some food, my friend," he said, unwrapping the package to reveal a piece of roasted chicken. "I snuck it out of the Great Hall during dinner. I figured you might be hungry after a long day."

Seraphina hissed in delight as she accepted the offering, coiling around the chicken and taking small bites. "Thank you, Ethan," she said in her own hissing language. "This is delicious."

Ethan smiled at the sight of his companion enjoying her meal. He had always found solace in the company of animals, especially magical creatures like Seraphina.

As she finished her meal, Ethan leaned back against his pillows, his eyes growing heavy with sleep. "Goodnight, Seraphina," he said, his voice barely a whisper. "Sleep well, my friend."

Seraphina hissed softly in response before curling up next to Ethan, her warm body a comforting presence in the dark room. Ethan closed his eyes and drifted off to sleep, feeling grateful for the companionship of his loyal friend.

Next Morning

As the sun began to rise over Hogwarts, Ethan stirred in his bed, his body already feeling the itch to get up and start his day.He reached for his wand, whispering the incantation for the Tempus spell to check the time. Satisfied that he had enough time.Without hesitation, he climbed out of bed, his feet hitting the cold stone floor of the Slytherin dormitory. He dressed in a black track suit and a white t-shirt, the colors standing out in the dim light of his bedroom. Ethan knew that his morning routine was important, not only for his physical health, but also for his mental well-being.

As he stepped outside, the crisp morning air greeted him, invigorating his senses. The Black Lake lay in front of him, shrouded in a light mist, the water reflecting the pink and orange hues of the rising sun. Ethan wasted no time and began his jog around the lake, the sound of his sneakers hitting the ground in a steady rhythm.

The path was quiet, with only the occasional bird chirping in the distance. Ethan felt the tension from the previous night's revelations slowly dissipating, his mind clearing with each step. As he ran, he took in the scenery around him, the greenery of the Forbidden Forest and the ancient towers of Hogwarts looming in the distance.

He had mapped out a 4km route, taking him through the forest and back to the castle. His pace quickened as he hit his stride, his heart pumping as he felt the exhilaration of his body in motion.

As he reached the end of his run, Ethan slowed down as he approached the lake, taking a moment to appreciate the peacefulness of the moment. He sat down on the grassy bank, the dew dampening his track suit as he stretched his legs, feeling the warmth of his body and the sweat that had built up. He felt the coolness of the grass against his skin as he leaned back, taking in the view of the castle in the distance. After a few minutes of rest, He started with some push-ups, his arms and chest burning with each repetition. He pushed himself harder, feeling the sweat starting to form on his forehead. He then moved on to some sit-ups, feeling the burn in his abs as he lifted his body up and down. He could feel his body becoming more alive with each movement, energised and ready to face whatever the day may bring.

As he finished his workout, Ethan felt a sense of accomplishment wash over him. He knew that taking care of his body was important, where physical strength was often required to perform spells and fight off dark wizards. He took a deep breath, feeling the cool morning air fill his lungs once more, and then headed back towards the castle.

Some moments before

He was so focused on his workout that he didn't even notice the blonde-haired girl watching him from a distance.

Daphne Greengrass had been curious about the young man from Durmstrang ever since he arrived at Hogwarts. She knew that students from Durmstrang were renowned for their strength and duelling skills, and she couldn't help but wonder what kind of training Ethan had undergone.

As she watched him work out, she couldn't help but feel a sense of admiration for his dedication and discipline. She had never seen anyone work so hard on their fitness routine, let alone a wizard or witch before, and she couldn't help but be impressed by his stamina and strength.

But at the same time, she couldn't shake the feeling that there was something off about him. He seemed too focused, too intense, almost as if he was preparing for something. And as she watched him carefully, she couldn't help but wonder if he was planning something sinister.

But at the same time, she couldn't help but be drawn to him, like a moth to a flame. She knew that she had to be careful, but she couldn't resist the allure of the mystery that surrounded him.

Back to present time

he made his way back to his dormitory to prepare for the day ahead

After taking a quick shower, he dressed in his school uniform - a black robe with a silver lining and a green tie that matched the colors of his house.

As he left his room, he was greeted by Isabella Moon, a fellow Slytherin student who was on her way to breakfast with some other students. "Good morning, Ethan," she said with a smile.

Ethan returned the greeting with a nod and a small smile, "Good morning, Isabella"

"Yes, we're all going to the Great Hall. Would you like to join us?"

Ethan nodded, and they made their way together towards the Great Hall. As they walked, they chatted about their classes and upcoming assignments. As they approached the Great Hall, the aroma of freshly cooked food filled their nostrils, making their stomachs grumble with hunger.

Ethan and Isabella sat down at the Slytherin table, surrounded by their fellow housemates. As they settled in, Ethan caught sight of Daphne Greengrass and her friend Tracy Davis sitting a few seats away. With a polite nod, Ethan greeted them both by their last names.

Tracy greeted them back with a smile, but Daphne seemed to be struggling with the interaction. Ethan could sense her introverted personality and the legendary "ice queen" reputation she held in the Slytherin house. But he didn't let that stop him from trying to make a connection.

"Good morning, Greengrass and Davis," Ethan said with a small smile.

Daphne looked up at him, clearly surprised that someone had addressed her directly. "Good morning," she replied coolly.

Isabella chimed in, trying to break the ice. "It's a beautiful day today, isn't it?" she said cheerfully.

Daphne looked at her sceptically, but Tracy seemed to appreciate the effort. "Yes, it is," Tracy said, smiling.

Ethan took the hint and didn't push the conversation any further. Instead, he turned his attention back to his own plate of food, feeling a bit disappointed but not entirely discouraged.

The rest of the breakfast passed in relative silence, with occasional small talk between Ethan, Isabella, Daphne, and Tracy. But Ethan couldn't shake the feeling that there was something more going on beneath the surface, something that he couldn't quite put his finger on.

As Ethan got up to leave, he realized that he didn't know where the Charms classroom was located. He hesitated for a moment before turning back to Daphne and Tracy. "Excuse me, do you happen to know where the Charms classroom is?" he asked, his tone polite but a bit hesitant.

Daphne raised an eyebrow but didn't say anything, while Tracy smiled warmly at him. "Of course, we're headed there too. We can show you the way," she offered.

Ethan let out a small sigh of relief. "Thank you, that would be great," he replied, grateful for their help. He followed Tracy and Daphne out of the Great Hall. There were a hundred and forty-two staircases at Hogwarts: wide, sweeping ones; narrow, rickety ones; some that led somewhere different on a Friday; some with a vanishing step halfway up that you had to remember to jump. Then there were doors that wouldn't open unless you asked politely, or tickled them in exactly the right place, and doors that weren't really doors at all, but solid walls just pretending. It was also very hard to remember where anything was, because it all seemed to move around a lot. The people in the portraits kept going to visit each other, and Ethan was sure the coats of armour could walk. As they walked through the halls of Hogwarts, Tracy and Ethan chatted amicably about their classes and the various professors. Daphne, on the other hand, remained mostly silent, occasionally offering a small comment or observation. As they turned a corner, they came upon the students chatting in some heated conversation. Tracy nudged Ethan and nodded in the direction of the group. "Looks like Potter's causing a stir again," she said with a smirk.

There, look."

"Where?"

"Next to the tall kid with the red hair."

"Wearing the glasses?"

"Did you see his face?"

"Did you see his scar?"

Whispers followed Harry finding the way to his class. People lining up outside classrooms stood on tiptoes to get a look at him, or doubled back to pass him in the corridors again, staring. Daniel wished they wouldn't, because he was trying to concentrate on finding his way to classes.

Daphne spoke up for the first time since they left the Great Hall. "He's Daniel Potter," she said simply. "The Boy Who Lived."

"Excuse me," Ethan said, making his way to the front. "Is there something going on?"

"Are you guys lost?" asked Ethan to Daniel and Ron, who try hard to not listen to other students comment on them.

The boys hesitated, unsure if they should trust a Slytherin. Daniel listens to so many things about Slytherin's bad reputation and how they treat Gryffindor students from so many students and Ron but here a slytherin student tries to help them. Ethan's charming smile and calm demeanour won them over.

Daphne watched with growing curiosity as Ethan interacted with the Gryffindors. She had never seen a Slytherin act so...kindly before. Tracy, too, seemed taken aback by Ethan's behaviour.

Daniel nodded. "Yeah, I'm trying to find my Transfiguration class. It's my first year here."

Ethan smiled. "No worries, Let me show you the way," he offered.

Ethan could see the discomfort on Harry and Ron's faces as they tried to have internal conflicts between their brains and looked at each other to see if they would accept the offer.

"Don't worry," he said softly. "I won't harm you. I just want to help you find your way to class."

Daphne watched the interaction in surprise, intrigued by this Slytherin who seemed to be different from the rest. Tracy was also taken aback by Ethan's actions, unsure of what to make of it.

Ethan turned to Daphne and Tracy. "Could you show us where the first year Transfiguration class is?" he asked politely.

Tracy hesitated for a moment before nodding, intrigued by Ethan's demeanour. "Sure, follow us," she said before leading the way.

As they walked through the halls, Ethan continued to chat with Daniel and Ron, asking them about their classes and making small talk. Daphne couldn't help but overhear their conversation, and was surprised to hear Daniel and Ron speak kindly of him.

They arrived at the classroom and Ethan turned to Harry and Ron. "Here we are. Good luck in your class."

"You know," Ron said as they reached the Transfiguration classroom, "I never thought I'd say this, but...thanks for your help."

Harry and Ron thanked him before entering the classroom, still slightly sceptical of the Slytherin's kindness.

As they walked away, Daphne turned to Tracy. "Did you see that? A Slytherin helping a Gryffindor. That's not something you see every day."

Tracy nodded, still in shock. "I know. I never thought I'd see the day."
