Chapter 8: Bad News
It was another brand new day and Mai and Ishizu were up and talking in the living room. "So, do you think it'll work?" asks Ishizu. "It better, after all we done last night" exclaims Mai,to her.
Just then they suddenly hear foot steps and become quite only to notice it was Yami instead of Arainaina. "Morning Yami" greet the two. "Morning" greets Yami. "So, Are you working today?" asks Mai to Yami.
"Actually, I'm off today, but I'm still going to go visit my little patient at the hospital" replies Yami. "Oh..." answers Mai, all the while causing Yami to blush.
But as that was going on between Yami and Mai does Arai suddenly walk into the room all the while rubbing her forehead which has Yami notice before instantly worrying. "Arai, are you ok?" asks a concern Yami. "Yeah, just a mild headache is all" assures Arai, so not to worry her brother anymore.
"Hey, Arai do you want to come mall shopping with us" asks Mai.
"Um, I guess" replies Arai before looking over to Yami with a silent plea not to mention to them about their childhood secret, which earns her a nod of his head which showed that he would not say a word about there secret.
"So Yami, what are your plans for today?" questions Arai as if she didn't already know what he was planning to do. "I'm going to go visit Yugi" answers Yami. "Cool, could you tell him hi for me" asks Arai. "Sure" and with that he left to head for the hospital.
"Alrighty if everyone is ready let's head for the mall" exclaims Ishizu, as she and Mai grab Arai by the hand before pulling her out the door and towards her car.
"Oh, and by the way Arai, Mai's driving for you today alright" replies Ishizu, as Arai just nods her head before handing Mai the keys to her car while she got into the back seat, while Ishizu got into the passenger side of the car.
After a few hours they finally make it to the mall only this time Arai's dragged off by Mai as she pulls her to the first store they saw where once there Mai spots the cutest pair of high heel boats which were similar to hers.
Hours later and tons of shopping did everyone decide to call it quits since every outfit they had picked out for her did Arai not feel comfortable in, so they decided to head for the food court, which to her surprise found everyone else there also.
In the mean time Yugi and Yami were having a blast at the hospital, for once Yami had arrived him and Yugi got themselves into a game of duel monsters and ended in a draw.
"Wow, your good Yugi, it's a first time I ever ended in a draw with someone else cause normally I'm either defeated or I win against my sister depending how focused we are when we play against each other" explains Yami.
"Really, you mean she duel's also? "asks Yugi. "Yep" replies Yami. "Cool" and with that Yugi gives off a yawn. "Well, I'll get going so you can sleep, but I'll be back tomorrow to discharge you and let Arai take you home alright" remarks Yami, as Yugi just nods his head before falling asleep.
Once Yugi falls asleep, does Yami let himself out before heading towards the front entrance of the hospital while on the other hand Arai, Mai, and everyone else were walking around the mall when suddenly Arai stops. "Hun? Arai" asks Joey, as he noticed that she had stopped to look at a beautiful dress that hung in a stores window.
"I see you like the dress" replies Mai. "Well, it is nice and it would make a nice graduation outfit " remarks Arai as she continues to look at the dress before her.
"Go try it on" replies Ishizu. "I don't know" comes the timid reply from Arai as she debates wither or not she wanted to try it on. "Go" and with that Mai drags her into the store while everyone else follows.
"Good evening may I help you with something" asks the sales lady. "Yeah, my friend here would like to try on the dress that's hanging in the window" replies Mai.
"But of course" and with that the lady removes the dress from the window only to return shortly after all the while handing Arai the outfit before directing her to a fitting room. Once in the dressing room does Arainaina begin to change into the dress.
Once on, Arai decides to take a tiny peek at herself within the mirror only see that it had spaghetti straps, while it also had a white silk texture to it with a flower of a rose on the bottom of the dress which gave it that elegant look.
Another thing that Arai noticed in the mirror was that the dress was a floor length dress that just barel touched the ground. But as Arai continued to look at herself from within the mirror does she finally realized that she could hear Mai's voice on the other side of the door.
"Arai let us see it" replies Mai. "No" remarks Arai. "Come on we won't laugh we promise" replies Ishizu. "Oh, alright but not one sound from any of you for if you do your in it for sure" remarks Arai as she slowly opens the door before walking out of the room.
As soon as she's out does everyone become very silent as Arai continues to stare at the floor, for Arai was a bit shy to see or even look at them. "Arai...your….your beautiful" replies Noa, as he see's her in the dress.
"Thankyou" whispers Arai, unsure of what else to say for this was the first actual compliment she had ever received from a guy let alone someone she hardly knew.
"So, are you going to buy the dress" asks Ryou.
"I don't know" is all she can say before going back to change into her regular clothes before returning with the gown in hand deciding not to purchase the item even though she really did want to get it. 'I just can't afford it right now…and I don't dare ask Yami to buy it' thinks Arai as she lays the dress on the counter with a sigh before leaving the store all together.
"It's a shame she didn't get it" replies Malik. "Maybe she has her reasons" answers Bakura. "Hey, Joesaika why don't you surprise her and buy her the dress" replies Seto. "Sure" and with that Joesaika goes to purchase the dress that Arai had recently tired on. Once bought and paid for everyone leaves the store as well before running to catch up to Arai.
"Hey wait up" exclaims Marik, once they manage to catch up. "Sorry" whispers Arai ,before hearing her phone go off, which halts her as she reached to answer it. "Hello","Yes, this is the hospital calling, I'm calling on behalf of your aunt" replies the lady, which caused Arai to give her full attention to.
"Well she be ok" asks a worried Arai. "We don't know she's stable for now but we can't tell you nothing more till we find out more information, We're sorry but well have to call you back when we know more I'm afraid" and with that they hung up.
"Arai" asks Seto since he was closer to her than anyone else, but as Seto tries to speak to Arai, Arai on the other hand was trying not to burst into tears. "Arai" calls Mai this time. But like before in stead of replying back Arai suddenly brakes into a run as she dashes out of the mall instead. "ARAI" shouts Ishizu, but like before she doesn't stop.
"What just happened?" questions Serentiy. "Don't know but let's find out" exclaims Joey, as they chase after Arai.
Seconds later, everyone else was finally outside the mall only to spot Arai no were in site. "Were could she have gone to, I know she ran this way so where is she" replies Marik, as they look threw the crowds of people in hopes of spotting Arai somewhere only to hear a cell phone go off which causes everyone to look at there's only to look down and notice that it was Arai's which was lying on the ground.
"Hello" answers Seto as he opens Arai's phone before speaking to the person who had just called. "Seto? Where's Arai, I need to talk to her" replies a voice. "Yami? Sorry but she's not here she sort of ran off a few minutes ago" explains Seto.
"Damn it, I need to find her she's not herself, Seto look everywhere the park anywhere I'll look at the pond" and with that Yami hung up.
"What was that all about" asks Noa. "Don't know but Yami says to look for her" and with that they searched everywhere for Arai, starting with the park like Yami had suggested. 'Come on Arai, tell me where you are' wonders Yami, as he runs to the spot he thinks Arai might be at, for ever since they were little him and Arai had always shared a special bond which could never be broken.
**Arai's P.O.V**
'Why do people always end up getting hurt, first there was Yugi and now our aunt…. If I tell Yami he'll be devastated...And I can't keep hurting him once was enough when we lost our parents and we moved in with our aunt…..but now...If I tell him about our aunt he'll be crushed.
With those in thought, Arai suddenly feels someone behind her, even without having to look behind her she already knew for there standing behind her was no other than Yami and the gang for Arai knew Yami would eventually find her, he always did…. There unbreakable bond always allowed Yami to find her when he needed to.
"Arai, please tell me what's wrong I can't stand seeing you so sad, Please tell me, so that I might be able to help" remarks Yami, as he motions to everyone to stay where they were.
"I can't...I don't want to hurt you anymore" is the only reply Arai can say without breaking down in tears. "Hurt me? You won't hurt me, besides where a team, now please tell me" replies Yami, once he's able to stand by Arai.
"I-I gotta a call not long ago from the hospital...they told me our aunt is there" cries Arai as she can no longer bare the thought of losing her only other relative other than her brother Yami.
"And?" asks Yami as he tries not to break down as well for he knew he had to be strong for the both of them. "They say they don't know anything else and will call me once they know more on her condition" was all Arai could say before tear took total control over her body.
