Chapter 8
The Suspect

Trevor reeked of an attitude of pompous personality, but nevertheless, Rapunzel attempted to speak with him just the same. "Hello Sir Trevor of Equis." She did a curtesy with her dress and smiled. Trevor looked, raised his blonde brows and then bowed to her, "M'lady, a pleasure to make acquaintance! Are you enjoying the ball so far?" He asked.

"Of course! It's very, uh...neat!" She looked around the room. "Love the statues." She added.

Trevor eyed at his statues and a smile spread across his face. "Oh! Those are statues of my favorite species! Seals, as if it was not known by the name of this place." He said, adjusting his suit, "I love them and hold them close to my heart." He said, almost dramatically.

Rapunzel stifled a giggle. "I see!"

"How much did it cost to get all these statues put up?" She started in with the questions, first a light one, then slowly she would ask more questions that'll lead her to her goal in learning about Trevor. "Oh quite a lot, but not to worry, I have much money." He said proudly.

"That's amazing!" Rapunzel said, hands behind her back.

"Why do you love seals so much?" She asked. "Well, they are just elegant creatures. Plus they are adorable, why if I ever had one, I'd name it after myself. Trevor Junior. Such a perfect name for a perfect seal." Trevor rambled. Rapunzel then remembered when she had asked Cassandra what kind of pet she'd have if she ever got one and what she'd name it.

"An owl, probably. Dark color. Brown, maybe."
"Name? Uh, I'd name it... Owl."

Rapunzel cracked a smile, but she made it appear she was just smiling out of enjoyment of the conversation rather thinking about how creative Cassandra was with her names for hypothetical animal friends. "Love it. The name's perfect." Rapunzel replied to him.

"Isn't it? If only I had a seal, I certainly do not." Trevor replied back.

Rapunzel furrowed her brows for a second, he seemed to mention not having a seal and wanting a seal a lot. Didn't Cassandra say he had previous crimes in Equis?

What if he stole a seal?!

Rapunzel then softly laughed. That's silly...

"I have a collection of seal-themed items in a backroom, I'm very proud of it. Traveled many places to get them." He then added. Rapunzel gasped, now was her chance to ask a more helpful question. "Where did you go? Anywhere special?"

"Hm, let's see. Koto was one of them. They have a lot of aquatic-themed decorations there, since they are utterly obsessed with water and ice! Almost as obsessed as me with my seals..."

"My seal obsession." He correct himself.

Rapunzel furrowed her brows once more. Hm.

"Could I see them? If you don't mind?" Rapunzel asked.

"Oh of course! Right this way, right this way!" Trevor beckoned her and Rapunzel followed. This was risky, but she had to know. Something was up, and whether it was Trevor being Jack or not, it was unsure, but... Still. Rapunzel felt something wasn't right with Trevor.
