Chapter 10
The Escape
Trigger Warning: Brief undetailed mention of lack of breath, mention of previously being drugged, Caged Animal
Rapunzel ran through the crowds, excusing herself while she did so. "Petunia! Anthony! There you are! Look, we've had a change of plans tonight." Rapunzel stopped, catching her breath. Running in a corset was tough... "What?" Petunia raised a brow. "Huh?" Anthony asked confused. "Trevor of Equis isn't the murderer, but he's seal-napped a seal and is keeping him hostage in one of the backrooms. Not only that, he drugged me. I'm lucky Cass found me, I don't know what would have happened to me if he had came back before she did..."
Petunia glared, "I knew that guy was up to no good."
"Com'on, let's go help Cass, Petunia. Anthony, you go find some guards!" She exclaimed.
"Yes Sundrop!" The two nodded and one followed Rapunzel and the other went to find some guards for her. Rapunzel and Petunia headed down the crowded ballroom, swaying through dancing people, trying to avoid running into both Eugene and Trevor, and making sure not to trip. Well, the last part being more of Rapunzel's deal than Petunia's, walking in shoes was hard enough, but running was crazy.
Cassandra finally got the lock picked and opened the cage door, "It's okay. We're getting you out of here." Cassandra said warmly. The seal looked nervous but slowly flopped his way towards Cassandra and nuzzled her hand with his blubbered head.
Rapunzel and Petunia arrived and Cassandra beckoned the seal. "What's the plan, Raps?"
"I've sent Anthony to find the guards, we're going to get them to arrest Trevor of Equis, as for the seal, we're going to help him escape and release him into the ocean by the Coronian Port."
Cassandra nodded to Rapunzel's plan. "Perfect. Let's go, before Trevor gets back." She hoisted up the seal, he was kind of heavy, but Cassandra was used to holding swords and halberds.
The song echoed through the ballroom as the three (four if you counted Trevor Junior) ran through the dancing people, trying not to interrupt them. They passed Anthony with two guards by his side, and stopped beside the entrance of the ballroom. "Guards, Trevor of Equis, the seal-napper is located somewhere in the ballroom, we're releasing the seal at the Coronian Port." Cassandra explained. The guards nodded and headed inside, and Cassandra beckoned Anthony to follow.
They ran through the moon-coated streets, heading to the Coronian Port. There were only a few boats there at the moment, so it was a great place to release the seal.
Cassandra set the seal down, caught her breath and then looked at Rapunzel.
Rapunzel looked at Cass, then at Trevor Junior. "You're free to go. Trevor won't get you again, we assure you." She said. The seal looked up at her, barked quietly and then turned to the boat ramp. He hopped to it and looked down at the water, looked back at the others and waved a flipper at them before jumping into the water and swimming away...
But the main problem...
...Is the four still didn't find Jack The Ripper.
The suspects list was a fail. It was time to go back and analyze more.
