Chapter 14
The Prisoner
Trigger Warning: Mention of Murder, Main Character is Wounded,
The guards finally arrived and began to crowd Anthony and Cassandra. The orange-haired criminal was lifted from the ground once Cassandra had moved, he struggled, but the guards made sure to keep a good grip on him.
Cassandra glanced to Rapunzel and then walked over, "Raps?" She asked in a soft, worried voice. Rapunzel looked up at Cassandra, a look of pure terror in her eyes. The skin around her eyes were red and swollen, her eyes and cheeks were wet with tears, she was shaking profusely and she was breathing quickly.
"Raps, hey, hey look. It's over, it's okay..." Cassandra wrapped her arms around Rapunzel and hugged her, but Rapunzel pushed her away, scared of everything at the time.
Cassandra stared with a confused, surprised look; but then stood up, stepping away from Rapunzel. "I'm..gonna leave you be for a minute, just...stay there..." She said and scurried off to the guards and Anthony. Cassandra could practically feel the man glaring at her.
Petunia nervously walked up and tugged on Cassandra's outfit. "How did you know?"
"About Anthony?" Cassandra raised her brows. Petunia nodded yes. "Well, it was quite simple. You see, I noticed that after you two left the townhouse after the ballroom situation, that was when another murder had happened. And when you stayed the night, I wandered the hallway as I usually did before heading to bed myself, and noticed the both of you were gone."
"Plus going through the window gives suspicions, you know." Cassandra added.
Petunia shuffled her hands across her dress and sighed. "I'm really sorry about all this. If I had knew Anthony was going to pull me into a whole murder spree, I would have never agreed to help him." Petunia frowned. "But I'm just as guilty as he is, not only helping him with it, but... The reason I agreed to help him, is because he was going to help me steal things."
"I'm a thief." She added.
"Well, I'm not going to say you're wrong, because you're indeed also a criminal for what you've done, but at least you stood up for yourself, and for us." Cassandra put her hand on her shoulder. Petunia avoided eye-contact...
Rapunzel finally stood up, slowly walking out from behind the barrels, looking down at the ground. The lifeless body now covered with a tarp and surrounded by chalk.
She ignored the blood that stained the cobblestone and headed to Cassandra's side. Cassandra noticed and perked up, "Oh- You're okay... That's good." Cassandra sighed in-relief.
"Well, I wouldn't say that?" Rapunzel said in a bit of a sad voice. Cassandra frowned, Rapunzel clearly had been traumatized by this event. The guards beckoned a prisoner's wagon forward, getting ready to put Anthony in it, when Anthony finally slipped through their grasp and grabbed the knife he had dropped. "Damned sundrop!" He then swung at Rapunzel.
Rapunzel's eyes widened as they did before, and Cassandra pushed Anthony back. The knife deeply cut one of Rapunzel's eyes, causing her to take a few steps back and gasping sharply.
It could have been a lot worse, as Anthony was trying to stab her.
The guards piled onto Anthony once more, taking the knife away from him as quick as possible, shouting at him to stop resisting. Cassandra was quick to go back to Rapunzel, "Raps! Raps! Oh god, are you okay?!" Cassandra said, panic melting out of her voice.
Rapunzel had her hands grasped at her eye, blood running in-between her shaking fingers. Cassandra scooped her up with almost no trouble, she was very strong, "I'm taking you to the townhouse!" She said, then looked to Petunia. "Help the guards out!" Cassandra ordered Petunia before running off into the night of the City of Corona streets...
