Chapter 15: Garden Fight

Sidney was in the Beta Drome. She just recently heard about something lurking around Invectoid Garden and was determined to try and stop it. She figured it wasn't a Creature since it appeared in her Location scan from last time she visited. She tried numerous times to destroy it, but her attempts had proven fatal.

This time, she played as Blazvatan. The Mipedian WarBeast wandered through the forest, looking for the thing. Just then, there was a rumbling nearby. Blazvatan looked ahead and saw an orange glow up ahead. The thing appeared, revealing itself to be an orange blight with a single green eye, similar to the one Tom went up against in Prexxor Chasm. Blazvatan got ready to attack once the blight was in range. He roared as he attacked with Minor Roar. The attack hit the blight's body, but it didn't even phase it. The blight fired globs of its body at Blazvatan, but he managed to douse them with Blind Fury. Blazvatan then attacked with Voltorch. The fiery typhoon sucked up the blight and presumably evaporated it. But suddenly, the blight emerged from the attack and tackled Blazvatan hard. Blazvatan, knowing that he couldn't win, tried to run. But as he ran, he came to a dead end. He turned around as the blight caught up to him and prepared to attack.

Blazvatan braced himself as the blight attacked him, coding him on impact.

Returning to the Beta Drome, Sidney was really mad as her latest attempt to try and stop this new blight failed and got her coded again. She took her scanner and exited the Drome. She boarded the transit train as it was leaving for the Port Court. As Sidney sat down, the train stopped for another set of passengers. The door opened for Minnie, Robbie, Gisele, Nika and Krista to get on. "Gisele, you are a Danian force to be reckoned with girl." Krista said as they boarded. "Hey, Sid. You should've seen Gisele's match just now." Minnie said. "Girl's got skill, Sid. I'm betting she could even give your own mother a run for her money." Nika said. "Congratulations, Gisele." Sidney said, emotionless. "Ah, it's nothing. I'm just pretty good." Gisele said. "At the end of the battle, her Ekuud cast Chorus of the Hive to activate his Hive ability and used her coded Khritlaan's ability to receive bonus energy from her coded Mandibloors. Then she attacked with Scout's Strike and-" Minnie started to explain. "I get it, Minnie! I don't need the play-by-play!" Sidney snapped. Her friends were shocked by this sudden outburst. "Uh, lass, you're not by chance coming back from the Beta Drome, are you?" Robbie asked. "I am. Sorry, guys. No matter what I do, I can't stop that blight in Invectoid Garden." Sidney said.

As the train stopped, everyone got off and headed back to the Port Court. "Sid, why don't you let us help you?" Minnie asked. "It's no use. I tried everything." Sidney said. As they reached the trading center, Sidney plugged in her scanner and opened the replay function. "I tried Fortissimo and made Verlina so huge, her Flood Force completely flooded the whole place."

After growing bigger with Fortissimo, Verlina attacked with Flood Force, flooding all of Invectoid Garden and taking the blight with it. But the blight emerged from the water and attacked Verlina, coding her.

"I had Seeryn hit it with the Melody of Malady and the Cannon of Casualty."

Seeryn cast his 2 Mugics and used them on the blight. But the blight was unfazed by the Mugic as it extended a slimy appendage, grabbed Seeryn and coded him.

"I tried Allmegeddon."

Heptadd attacked with Allmageddon. But the blight was still standing strong as it leapt at Heptadd and coded him.

"And I just tried Blazvatan."

Blazvatan attacked with Inferno Gust, but the blight emerged from the fiery typhoon and attacked Blazvatan, coding him afterwards.

"No matter what I try, that blight is just too strong and durable." Sidney said as she slumped in her seat. "Sid, I know you don't wanna hear this. But if there's nothing more you can do, maybe it's time to…give up." Krista said. "I can't, Kris. I owe it to the Creatures who live in Invectoid Garden. Most of all, I owe it to Flitterix." Sidney said. "If she's still…alive." Robbie said. "Wait. Your father went up against a green blight in Prexxor Chasm, right?" Nika asked. "Yes." Sidney said. "Then maybe he might know how to deal with this blight." Nika said. "Good thinking, Nika. Let's go to Sidney's house and talk to Mr. Majors." Gisele said. "Alright. Let's hope Dad has an answer." Sidney said.

As they ported their code back to Earth, Sidney and her friends sat down around the dinner table as Tom explained his experience with the blight in Prexxor Chasm. "So, after I brought the blight sample to Garv, together, we managed to create a serum to eradicate the blight." Tom said. "So, you think Garv can help us like he helped you and Smildon, Dad?" Sidney asked. "I think so. We'll have to go to Lake Morn and talk to him." Tom said. "And maybe we should contact Quadore too. She'll want to help considering that Flitterix is her mother." Gisele said. "I was thinking the same thing. She needs to know about this." Sidney said.

Later, Tom and the gang ported to Lake Morn to look for Garv and contacted Quadore as they arrived back in Chaotic. "How do we know Garv will even be here?" Robbie asked. "Garv's a well responsible caretaker in this Location. He'll have to be here if we need his help." Tom said. "And here I thought you'd all get here before I would." Quadore said as she flew down from the trees. "Glad you could join us, Quadore." Sidney said. "Are you kidding? After you guys told me about what was going on in Invectoid Garden, I grew worried…about my mother." Quadore said, growing sad. Tom put a comforting hand on her shoulder. "We'll help her, Quadore. I promise that." He said. "And it looks like we found our help." Minnie said. Everyone turned around to see Garv approaching them from the lake. "Garv." Tom said.

Garv brought the group inside and served them refreshments by a nice warm fire. "I wasn't prepared for guests as you, my friends." He said. "It's good to see you again too, Garv." Tom said. "You came because you need my help, yes?" Garv asked. "Yes. It's about Quadore's old home, Invectoid Garden. There's something like the blight from Prexxor Chasm attacking it." Sidney explained. "And this is the same as in Prexxor Chasm?" Garv asked. "Yes. It's destroying everything in the Location. Plants, Creatures. If it's not stopped, Invectoid Garden will be…gone." Sidney said. "Hmm. Sounds just as dangerous as your father's from Prexxor Chasm. May I ask why you're so concerned with this problem?" Garv asked, though he already knew the answer. "I know a Creature there. Her name is Flitterix, Quadore's mother. And I need to help her and the other Creatures in the Garden." Sidney said. Garv began to think. "I may be able to do something like I did for your father." He said. Sidney smiled at that. "But you will have to go to Invectoid Garden and get something for me. If you can." Garv said. "I'll go with her." Quadore said. Everyone turned to her. "I may be an OverWorlder now, but Invectoid Garden is still my home. And my mother needs me." She said. Sidney nodded.

Later, Sidney ported to Invectoid Garden. Quadore took off from Lake Morn earlier and met up with Sidney at the spot where she ported. Unfortunately, the Garden was looking like a forest graveyard. "I never thought this is how I would see my home again." Quadore said with sadness. Sidney put a comforting hand on her shoulder. As they started exploring the Garden, Sidney came across a familiar sight. A certain tree hut where she was treated. "This was where Flitterix brought me after I was knocked out." She said. "Quadore, was this…?" "Yes. It was my house." Quadore said. Just then, the bushes nearby started rustling. "Flitterix?" Sidney asked. But as they got closer to investigate, an Arachnobeast leapt out of the bushes and prepared to attack them. "Sid, look out!" Quadore exclaimed, firing Tornado Tackle at the Arachnobeast. But the Arachnobeast leapt out of the way, dodging the attack, and fired Acid Spurt. Quadore ducked to dodge the attack. "Run!" Sidney cried. They started to run as the Arachnobeast chased them, firing more Acid Spurts. Suddenly, a familiar face tackled the Arachnobeast, saving them. "Mom?" Quadore asked in shock. Flitterix wrestled with the Arachnobeast, but it threw her off it. Flitterix recovered and blew the Arachnobeast away with Pollen Gust.

"Mom!" Quadore cried happily as she flew into Flitterix's arms. "Hello, my daughter. It is so good to see you again. And to you as well, young Sidney. But why have you both come back here?" Flitterix asked. "To stop the blight that's destroying the Garden." Sidney said. "I'm sorry to say, but it can't be stopped." Flitterix said. "Maybe it can if I can get a piece of it." Sidney said. "She's right, Mom. Our friend, Garv, is a Caretaker at Lake Morn. If we can get a piece of the blight for him to study, maybe we can find a way to destroy it." Quadore said. "While I appreciate your efforts, but I'm afraid that I must advise against such an act. It's way too dangerous." Flitterix said. Suddenly, everything started rumbling. "Use your scanner, Sidney. Get away from this place and never come back. I'm going to get my fellow Creatures to safety." Flitterix said before taking off. "Go help your mom. I have to get that piece for Garv." Sidney said. Quadore nodded and took off after her mom.

Sidney walked towards a hillside and looked up at a giant plant-like tree. 'The blight won't be able to get me on that tree. I can get a piece of it when it starts flinging itself at me.' She thought. As she climbed the tree to a high branch, everything started shaking again. Just then, her scanner started ringing. She answered it to see that it was Tom. "Anything happening, Sid?" Tom asked. "I can't talk now, Dad. It's almost here. The plan's gonna work perfectly." Sidney said. "I've said the same thing when I was your age." Tom said. Just then, Sidney saw something that made her gasp in horror. "Sid, what's wrong?" Tom asked. The blight had arrived at the tree. And it was even bigger than when Sidney fought it in the Drome. "Sid!" Tom called. "Later, Dad." Sidney said, hanging up. 'It's even more humungous than the last time I was here.' She thought in horror. The blight extended itself and prepared to touch Sidney's face. Suddenly, something grabbed Sidney and carried her away from the blight. She looked up and saw that it was… "Hornux?" She asked in shock. Hornux carried her to a higher branch where Flitterix and Quadore were waiting. The blight started flinging blobs of itself at the group, but Flitterix motioned her hands and created a vine wall to block the blobs. Pieces of the blobs started dripping down the vines. Seeing her chance, Sidney took out a crystal vial and caught a small piece from the blob. "I got it." She said. "Great. Get it to Garv. We'll handle things here." Quadore said. "Good luck, young Sidney." Quadore said. Even Hornux buzzed as he nuzzled Sidney's arm. "Don't worry. I'll be back." Sidney said as she took out her scanner and ported away. Quadore, Flitterix and Hornux took off as the blight continued flinging itself at them.

Later, after Sidney returned to Lake Morn, she presented the blight piece to Tom and Garv. "Interesting. It appears to be exactly alike to the one your father faced in Prexxor Chasm." Garv said as he inspected it. "And if it's the same as the one I faced, it must hold the same weakness." Tom said. Garv created the same serum Tom and Smildon destroyed the blight in Prexxor Chasm and tried it on the piece. It reacted the same way as the blight in Prexxor Chasm did and disintegrated. "It worked!" Sidney cheered. "Yes. Since both blights are practically the same, the serum was likely to work." Tom said. "Yes. But mine was the easy part." Garv said. Sidney nodded, knowing what had to come next.

Later, Sidney returned to Invectoid Garden with a spear filled with the serum, met up with Flitterix, Quadore and Hornux, and went off to search for the blight. "You sure you can destroy that thing with just a spear?" Flitterix asked. "The spear is just the way to inject the serum. If I can do that, we can destroy it." Sidney said. "That's a pretty big if." Quadore said. They stopped at the right spot to set their trap. "Okay, when the blight shows up, Flitterix and Quadore, you 2 get it to come down here. Hornux and I will hide…up there on that tree limb and when it's in the right spot, I'll throw the spear." Sidney explained. "Wait. I'm stronger. I'll throw the spear." Flitterix said, taking the spear. Sidney nodded. Unknown to them, the Arachnobeast tracked them down and was watching them from the bushes. Just then, everything started to rumble again. "It's coming!" Quadore exclaimed. "You know what to do. We need to hit it while it's attacking." Sidney said. "I hope Garv's right…for all our sakes." Flitterix said. "Let's go, Hornux." Sidney said. Hornux knelt down, letting Sidney onto his back before taking off. "Sidney!" Flitterix called, making Sidney and Hornux stop. "Be careful." She warned. Sidney nodded before she and Hornux flew off. "We better get a move on." Flitterix said. "Right, Mom." Quadore said.

The 2 humanoid butterfly Creatures flew up to the tree limb and waited for Sidney and Hornux to lead the blight towards them. Suddenly, a web came out of nowhere and snatched Flitterix. "Mom!" Quadore cried. Another web appeared and snagged her too. As Flitterix struggled, she accidently dropped the spear.

Meanwhile, Sidney and Hornux his behind a tree as the blight went past them. "It's time." Sidney said. Hornux flew her out into the open. "Hey! You looking for us?!" Sidney called. The blight turned around and saw them. 'That's it.' Sidney thought. The blight charged towards them. "Let's go, Hornux!" Sidney exclaimed as Hornux quickly flew her away.

Meanwhile, Flitterix and Quadore recovered as they glared at the Arachnobeast. "Oh, I'm gonna make you pay for that. Viperlash!" Quadore called, unleashing live vipers from her fingers and attacked the Arachnobeast with them.

Meanwhile, as the blight continued chasing after Sidney and Hornux, burning through several trees in its way, it started firing blobs of itself at the 2. Hornux buzzed angrily from being shot at. "I know, Hornux, but there's no way you can take that thing. No Creature can take that thing. I know. I've tried." Sidney said.

Meanwhile, after breaking free of Quadore's Viperlash, the Arachnobeast attacked with Acid Spurt, knocking Quadore down and out. "Quadore!" Flitterix cried. As the Arachnobeast started to crawl towards her, Flitterix turned and attacked with Unsanity, causing the Arachnobeast to get a headache. "You made a big mistake attacking my daughter!" Flitterix exclaimed, blowing Blizzard Breeze from her wings. The Arachnobeast was blown into the tree, but wasn't beaten yet. It leapt up and fired its webs at Flitterix. But Flitterix managed to break through the webs and flew into the Arachnobeast head-on.

Meanwhile, Sidney and Hornux made it back to the tree, but were unaware of the fight happening on the branch. "Flitterix, Quadore, get ready!" Sidney called. "Flitterix! Quadore!" But then, she and Hornux saw the fight going on. "Oh no. Where's the spear?" She asked. Hornux buzzed, spotting the spear nearby. Sidney hopped off Hornux's back and grabbed the spear, getting ready for the blight. "Guess it's up to me." She said. Just then, as Quadore recovered, the Arachnobeast leapt at her and Flitterix, knocking them all out of the tree and crashing down to the ground. Sidney and Hornux were startled by this until they heard the blight coming. The blight started coming at them faster than ever. As Flitterix recovered, she saw how close the blight was coming. "Sidney! The spear!" She called. Sidney saw that she recovered and tossed her the spear before running for cover. Flitterix stepped into the center as the blight was right on top of her. The Arachnobeast took off out of fear. As the blight prepared to attack, Flitterix readied the spear and charged towards the blight. As she neared a crevice, she threw the spear at the blight. As the spear disappeared in it, the blight attacked Flitterix and seemingly destroyed her. "MOM!" Quadore cried. "NO!" Sidney cried. Just then, the blight turned its attention to Sidney, Quadore and Hornux. But as the 3 braced for the attack, the blight's slimy body suddenly started to glow and weaken. And then, the blight was completely destroyed.

As the oozy remains of the blight oozed down the crevice, Sidney, Quadore and Hornux looked around for Flitterix, but saw no sign of her. Quadore started to tear up, fearing the worst. As the 3 prepared to head over to the crevice, a familiar growl came from behind them. They turned around to see the Arachnobeast, back and ready to attack. Quadore and Hornux prepared to attack as Sidney reached for her scanner. But the Arachnobeast extended one of its legs and swatted them, causing Sidney to lose her scanner. As it leapt at them to finish them, a Fearocity came out of nowhere and struck it, much to the 3's shock. The Arachnobeast looked around, wondering what hit it, and took off in fear. Sidney, Quadore and Hornux turned around and saw in relief, Flitterix climbing out of the crevice. They quickly rushed over and helped her up. "You did it." Sidney said. "Just what I was going to say." Flitterix said. Everyone smiled at the victory they achieved today.

Later, Sidney returned to Chaotic, told her friends and Tom about what happened. She even showed them what she got in return, a scan of Hornux and a new scan of Invectoid Garden. "Well, I got a new Creature scan of Hornux. But I'll go back for a better scan when he's feeling stronger. Oh, and I got one other scan. Invectoid Garden, 100% blight free." She explained as she showed off her new scans. "I told you Garv was a genius." Tom said. "And that's not all. Flitterix and Hornux said that they're gathering up their friends in Invectoid Garden and preparing to journey to Kiru City." Sidney said. "That's good. The more friends to the Tribal Alliance, the better." Gisele said. "Especially with the threat that's coming to Perim." Minnie said. Everyone soon got worried about the coming threat of the FarWorlders. They were going to need all the help they can get. No matter where it comes from.
