I woke with pains and sores. The past few days have been tiring. Rebuilding from the damage of the what we have now called the 'eclipse' has been hard. Koro may have freed all of them from the darkness, but their were still wild pokemon out their who went on a rampage as others struggled to wake from him saving them.
The thought of Koro, but a twinge of sadness and I felt a tear slide down my cheek as I rose from the grass hill. I stretched the tiredness from my body, collected my things, and started my approach to the city. I straightened the red handkerchief I wore to free it from my bad strap and it settled nicely around my neck.
I walked through the gate and saw many construction sites as pokemon helped each other rebuild homes, businesses, and their lies. There was a feeling of warmth through the city that everyone reciprocated. I couldn't help, but smile at the beauty of it all.
A familiar aura approached and I quickly side-stepped as Carter tried to tackle me with a large hug, but my instincts wouldn't let him. He slid on his stomach through the dirt and I laughed as I slowly helped him to his feet.
"Katrina! *cough* Your back!" Carter said as he covered me with the dirt he had collected in his fall in a hug.
I hugged him back and heard, "Get off her you Carter. You're covering her with dirt."
I turned to greet Zeina who opened out up for an embrace of her own. Carter let me go so I could go to Zeina and I carefully hugged her, paying attention if I hurt her arm in the sling she had.
We began walking together to the entrance of the guild and Zeina asked, "How are the outer villages?"
"They were hit hard by fallen just like the rest of us, but they are doing good. They want to send thanks to guild for sending their teams out to help rebuild." I answered.
"Ya know, you could be in charge of those teams leading charges to the villages you have found." Carter said.
"I need to be free to help those that even the guild can't find. A large paw can't catch every grain of sand." I answered.
We entered the guild and walked through the tunnels to emerge in the old training grounds. In the center of the clearing was a beginnings to a statue of Sir Lance holding his cane and staring down at us. I looked up at it and felt sorrow and happiness rush through my heart. Zeina and Carter then looked over to the edge of the tree line. I followed their gaze and saw another statue being erected.
This one was looking up through a window to the sky. The warm sun was making it's decent for the day and gave the stars a chance to appear to us. The moonlight and stars twinkled with beauty. I looked at the inscription near the foot of the lucario statue and it read:
"Let your scars make you better than what you were before them."
I looked back up at the lucario statue and saw the familiar scars and scarf. My heart felt heavy as saw Koro starring into the sky. A twinkle of hope and joy still in his eyes as he looked forward, persevering through any pain.
I turned to Zeina and Carter. Carter smiled and rubbed his head bashfully where Zeina said, "We need to remember every part of what happened and he deserves to be remembered for all he did for us."
I couldn't hold back the tears as I slowly raised a paw to touch his handkerchief that I wore. I felt his warm kind aura radiant from it and pulse. I looked back up at the stars and thought I could feel him reaching out to me.
I will be better Koro.
