Is he…drunk? Jacob asked.
Selmak gave an internal laughed as she heard Malek's report on the Klingon ship while trying to sound sober.
He failed.
It was the first night that the others had stayed on the Klingon ship, and the report was fairly amusing.
Commander Jadzia had warned that there would be much drinking, and that not participating would subject them to ridicule.
I am so glad I'm not on that ship, Jacob thought. And that is Commander Dax, remember? She doesn't differentiate between her host and symbiont.
Yes, of course. Selmak could accept that Jadzia and Dax were blended, that Dax was another type of symbiote, but whenever they spoke, she couldn't help but think that the host was speaking. I wonder…

If Trill and Un'tath are the same planet.
Un'tath… The origin of all symbiotes, and the humanoid species there, the Unas, were the first hosts.
I realize that Jadzia is very different from an Unas, but Dax is also very different from me.
Earth had different types of humans in the past, some on the same time. Humans of today would looks very different if Lucy's species took off instead of my ancestors.

Stop nitpicking. You know what I mean. Jacob smiled in amusement though. Trill and Un'tath may be no different both with humanoid and symbiote species. My species won the luck of the draw. Maybe yours did too.
They'd have to check the maps later.

Jacob was looking at said maps when the report came in for the third night. Malek was sober, maybe, but he apparently was really tired of the food.
There was not much reported, so Jacob went back to the maps. He soon felt Selmak wiggling in excitement.

That you were. It made Jacob more curious about Un'tath. The evolutionary change had to have been millions of years ago.

Soon, it was time for battle. Jacob contacted the others. "I'll see what's on the other side, then report back."
Hopefully, Selmak thought. They could be entering into an even larger battle for all they knew.
Jacob tapped at the controls, leaving their universe for his.
