Kara's POV
It was nearly seven-thirty when Alex, Astra, and I decided to take a break. Walking into the main area of the D.E.O., my stomach dropped seeing the look on Winn's face. "Aren't you supposed to be with Lena?"
"That's why I'm here…" His voice trailed off. "She never showed up at the front to let me in. I tried calling her phone but she didn't answer. It went straight to voicemail."
"Maybe she lost track of time and her phone died?" Alex offered. "It's happened before."
"I don't think so. She was pretty intent on working with me tonight." Winn began to fidget under my stare.
Hearing her phone ring, Alex answered. "Hey, Maggie." Blood drained from my sister's face. "Oh, shit. I'll meet you there. Thanks."
"What's wrong?" My heart started to pound. Whatever Maggie said isn't good. "Alex?"
"There's been a break in at L-Corp." Alex chose her words carefully knowing how close all of us were to Lena. "The lab has been ransacked. Video shows Lena being attacked and kidnapped."
Everything went numb and a ringing sound grew louder in my ears. Alex kept speaking but I couldn't understand what she said. Everything was muffled. She's hurt. What if she's dead? Some relief came when I saw the red string intact.
"Little One." Astra shook me. Blinking, things came back into focus. "You're the only one who can find her. We need you to focus now."
"How can Kara find her?" J'onn asked. "Does this have to do with a red string?"
My brow creased. "How do you know about that?"
"You, Alex, Astra, and Lena think so loudly. I try to block it out but sometimes I fail."
A whole new wave of emotions overcame me. "Sorry…" I mumbled. "But you're right. I can find her."
"Alex, go to L-Corp and check things out there. Astra and Kara, track down whoever did this. I'll stay here with Mr. Schott. Keep your intercoms on." J'onn placed a hand on my shoulder. "Bring her home."
I nearly took down the door trying to get outside and into the air. Once Astra and I were above the city, we tried scanning for any sounds of Lena. "Damn it." I growled.
"Breathe, Little One. We're going to bring her home." Astra tried to calm me.
"I just hope we bring her home alive." Following the red string, Astra and I flew across town.
"Can everyone hear me?" Alex asked. All of us answered. "Good. It turns out Lillian and one of her human experiments drugged and kidnapped Lena. Her watch must have come off in the struggle. Her phone was smashed. It looks like nothing important was stolen."
"The only thing of importance was the regular shield she was creating for Alex and notes she had taken during the day. Everything else she left at the D.E.O."
"What about the jammer?" J'onn asked.
"I think that's in her office."
"Maggie and I will take a look. Be careful guys. There's no telling what Lillian has leftover from Lex."
"Thanks, Alex. We're almost to the warehouse. Do you have our location?"
"Yes. We'll be standing by."
Astra placed a hand on my shoulder. "Are you ready?"
Staring down at the warehouse, anger began to bubble inside me. "Yes." I've never felt this kind of anger before. I need to calm down so I don't do something I'll regret. Lena, I'm sorry you got dragged into this. I promise, I'll save you.
"Let's go."
Crashing through the roof, I landed a few feet from my aunt. "Lillian!"
"That didn't take long." The older Luthor walked out from the shadows with her two henchmen in tow. "Supergirl, how nice to meet you in person." She paused, a knowing grin on her lips. "Or do you prefer Kara Danvers?"
She knows who I really am. That complicates things. "Where's Lena?"
"I'm right here." Turning on my heels, I saw Lena walking towards me. "I'm fine, Kara. Mother and I came to an understanding."
Something's wrong. Her voice is different. Taking a step back, the shields Lena made us engaged. "You have kryptonite?"
Taking a knife out of her belt, Lena studied the blade. The green radiated off of her pale skin. "It's quite the element. It can bring the strongest alien race to their knees." Dull green eyes met mine. "I had to go and fall in love with one and make that shield. I made sure the armor was indestructible from the outside." Lena ran a finger along the side of the blade. "The only way kryptonite can affect you is if you disengage it."
"What has she done to you? Lena, this isn't you." I took a step towards the brunette, reaching for her hand only to have her smack my hand away.
"Don't touch me!" She growled.
"You hate kryptonite. You refuse to use it near me." I tried desperately to keep my voice steady.
"Like I said, Mother and I have come to an understanding." Her voice was cold.
"What have you done to her?" Astra questioned.
"I'm sure Kara knows of The Hunger Games trilogy?"
"Yes…" I kept an eye on the two women. "What about them?"
"The idea behind Tracker Jacker venom isn't just in the books. It can be created under the right circumstances." Lillian's attention turned towards her daughter. "Isn't that right, Lena?"
"You fell into my arms and into my trap. I needed you close enough for you to put your guard down. Once you're taken care of, I can take my rightful place beside my mother and rid this world of all aliens."
"Absolutely not!" Astra started towards me only to be electrocuted by the cyborg. Her armor sparked and disengaged. As she hit the floor, a net and cage descended from the ceiling trapping her. "Kara, leave! I'll bring Lena home! Go!"
"I doubt that." Corbon scoffed. "Seems the shields aren't indestructible. Electricity takes them out pretty quickly. Should we destroy the other, Ma'am?"
"No." Lillian spoke with intrigue. "Let's see how this plays out."
There's nothing I can do to connect with Lena behind this visor. She has to see me. "Lena, this isn't you." Lillian knows I won't hurt her.
"This has always been me, Kara." A bitter laugh escaped the shorter woman. "I'm a Luthor. You're the fool who fell for my pretty words of wanting a new life."
"No. This isn't you." I opened the visor to meet the brunette's gaze. "This is the venom talking." Lena's right eye twitched. Is this working?
"You're wrong." She took another step towards me. We were inches apart.
Realizing what I was going to do, Astra yelled. "Kara, don't!"
"I'm not wrong." Removing the shield, I destroyed it. "You won't hurt me." Another, more prominent twitch. Holding out my arms, I continued. "But if I'm wrong, go ahead. I want you to look me in the eyes and kill me if that's what you truly want." Her eyes are turning stormy. The red string is still intact. Please let this work. "I'll die anyway, right?" Taking Lena's hand in mine, I held the dagger near my heart. The effects were starting to make themselves known and pain radiated through me with each beat of my heart.
Hearing something, Lillian told the two men to check the parameter. "Stop playing with your toy, Lena. End this."
"Yes, Mother."
"I love you…" I whispered before closing my eyes. Hearing Lena scream, I opened my eyes to see her falling to the ground. The dagger handle sticking out of her thigh. "Lena!"
In all of the commotion, a flash grenade exploded. J'onn, Alex, and the rest of the D.E.O. burst through the doors. "Take her down!" J'onn ordered.
"Kara!" Alex knelt beside me pressing a cloth around the dagger.
"Help her, Alex." I pleaded. "Please."
"I've got her. Help them."
Getting to my feet, I stormed over to Lillian who was being handcuffed. "Hey!"
"Supergirl." J'onn warned.
"How do you reverse the venom?"
"That's the brilliance of it. You can't." My stomach dropped. "The look of defeat. How delicious. Even if I can't take you down, the torture will do it for me."
Something snapped inside me. Before my fist collided with Lillian's face, Astra grabbed my wrist. "This isn't the way." She kept a steel-like grasp on my wrist until Lillian was outside. "We'll figure out how to reverse the effects. The real Lena is in there. That's why she didn't kill you. She couldn't."
Arriving at the D.E.O., J'onn ordered us to use a sunlight capsule before we went near the hospital wing. I'm in so much trouble. He's going to ground me later. I just know it.
Tossing the capsule, Astra spoke. "You played a dangerous game, Little One."
Soaking up the rays, I felt my strength returning. "I noticed a change in Lena when I lifted the viser. It became more glaring when I took off the armor."
"The string?"
"It was still there. Another reason I knew she wouldn't kill me." Glancing down, I smiled. It's still there. She's alive.
Waiting at the hospital wing doors, J'onn smirked. "Let me see her first. Then you can rip me a new one. I know what I did was reckless and could have gotten a lot of people killed."
"At least you know." Stepping aside, J'onn held the door open.
Rushing inside, I could see Lena through the glass windows. She's paler than normal. "How is she?" I kept my voice low so I wouldn't wake her.
"Her vitals are stable." Alex flipped to the second page of case notes. "The doctor sewed up her leg and sedated her so her body could fight the venom. She's been injected with a broad spectrum antivenom for now. Winn is working on reverse engineering the Tracker Jacker venom we found in Lillian's bag." Placing the clipboard down, Alex hugged me. "We got her home. That's half the battle."
"Where's Lillian?"
"In holding." J'onn answered from the door. "You are not permitted on that floor. Understood?"
"Yes, Sir." Pulling a chair next to the bed, I sat. "Oh, no."
Whipping around, Alex looked at the monitor. "What?"
"L-Corp. The CEO is in a coma. Let me use your phone."
Pulling out her phone, Alex gave it to me. "It's nearly midnight. Who are you going to call?"
"Miss Grant." Dialing, I waited.
"You are a brave woman…"
"Whoever this is better have a damn good reason for interrupting my-"
"Miss Grant, it's Kara. I wouldn't call if it wasn't an emergency."
"What's wrong?"
"I'm sure it'll be on the news tomorrow morning so I can tell you. L-Corp was broken into earlier tonight. Lena was attacked and kidnapped. She's currently in a hospital under sedation. I have no idea how to run a company. What should I do?"
"That's a lot to take in. I'm glad Lena is okay. You want to contact the COO of L-Corp. They can help run the company in Lena's absence."
"The COO. Got it. Thank you. If there needs to be any press coverage will you do it? Everyone else wants to put their own negative spin on Lena or L-Corp because of her last name."
"Of course."
"I'll keep you updated on everything." Saying our goodbyes, I ended the call and gave the phone back to Alex.
"You think of everything, don't you?" Sending a quick message, Alex continued. "I'll have a cot brought in. I know you're not leaving."
"Thanks. I'm going to email Jess once I find my phone."
"Try to get some rest. We can handle Lillian and her henchmen. Astra will keep the city safe. All you need to do is take care of yourself and Lena."
"I will, Alex. Thank you."

Lena's POV
What happened to me? Waking, I felt pain in my chest. Looking around, I found myself strapped to a table. "Ah, good. You're awake." My mother came into focus.
"Mother? Where am I? What happened?" I winced from pain. "What's going on?"
"How are you feeling?" Cupping my face, the older woman looked over my vitals. "The operation was a success."
"Operation? What operation?" Pulling down the covers revealed glowing green where my heart used to be. "What the hell is that?"
"Kryptonite. You're going to kill Supergirl."

Kara's POV
A few days passed and Lena was still in a medically induced coma. Between me, Miss Grant, Jess, and Sam we were able to shed a nicer light on the events at L-Corp. Sam and Miss Grant spoke the most while I stayed by Lena's side. I only left to get clothes and shower.
Eventually, the doctor felt it was safe to lower the medication and reverse the coma. "Only time will tell if the antivenom worked. Prepare yourself. This can take anywhere from twenty four to seventy two hours. This isn't a TV show. Miss Luthor might be agitated, anxious, or have amnesia for a short period of time. We don't know."
"Of course."
The doctor smiled softly. "It won't make much difference. You're not leaving her side until she wakes up."
"At least I'm a nice person who orders doughnuts." I grinned.
Rolling his eyes, he continued. "The IVs will stay in for now. Once she starts breathing over the ventilator, I can take it out. Since you've talked to her the past few days or played music, I'm hopeful."
"Thank you."
"How's the patient doing?" Handing me a coffee, Alex pulled up a stool to sit.
"The coma is slowly being reversed. It can take anywhere from one to three days. Once she's breathing over the ventilator, the tube will be taken out." Turning my attention back to the sleeping brunette, I took her hand in mine. "I hope she's okay."
"I do too." Sighing, Alex stood. "Duty calls. Astra said she'd be by soon. Maggie, Winn, and James have been asking for updates."
"I'll shoot them a message soon. I need to update Jess and Miss Grant too."
"Sounds good."
Pulling out my phone, I started a group message between Maggie, Jess, Winn, and James.
Lena update:
The doctor is slowly bringing her out of the coma. It can take anywhere from 24-72 hours for her to wake up. Once she's breathing on her own, he'll take her off the ventilator. Thank you all for the love and support. -K
Glad she's doing better! -W
Hope she wakes up soon. Everything is okay at L-Corp. I'll update Sam. -J
Good to hear! I know you miss your girl. -M
I do miss her. Thank you, guys. -K
I'll send food soon. -W

Lena's POV
"I don't want to kill Supergirl." Struggling against the straps, I gave up when my chest started to hurt again.
"She's ruined our lives, Lena. She attacked us. Nearly killed you. This was the only way to save you."
"She wouldn't attack me." I love her.
Picking up a tablet, my mother pulled up a video and turned it towards me. "See for yourself." Like my mother said, Supergirl flew into my office and started attacking me. Relentlessly. This can't be true. Kara loves me. Something has to be wrong. Turning away from the screen, I swallowed the lump in my throat. "I'm sorry, Lena."
What is that sound? Music? "I want to rest now." What the hell is going on?
"We start training once you recover." Lillian kissed my hair before leaving me.

Kara's POV
I jumped hearing the heart monitor sound. Lena's brows furrowed and sweat glistened on her temples. "Lena?" I took the woman's hand in mine. "Can you hear me?"
"What's happened?" The doctor rushed in, looking at the monitor.
"Her heart started racing and she sweating. That's all I know."
"Her heart rate has gone back to normal and she looks relaxed. It's been a day so the medication that kept her under is wearing off. It's been documented that people have had nightmares while they were asleep."
"Oh, gosh." That's probably what's happening.
"If there are any changes, let me know."
"I will."
Once the room was empty, I crawled in the bed beside Lena and held her in my arms. "I'm sorry, Lena. If you weren't involved with me, this probably wouldn't have happened." Kissing her temple, I felt a tear on my chin. Looking down, I noticed a single tear on Lena's cheek. "Please wake up soon. I love you." Gently, I wiped the tear away.
Astra tapped on the door to gain my attention. "How's our girl?"
"I think she's having a nightmare. Her heart rate skyrocketed and she shed a tear."
Walking towards the bed, Astra stroked Lena's hair. "She's strong and loves you. I think those two things are what's going to bring her out of this." She paused. "At the last second, before she stabbed herself, that scream was your Lena. The real Lena had fought her way back to the surface."
"I hope that's the Lena that wakes up." Resting my head, I breathed in the smell of Lena's shampoo. Please wake up soon. I miss your smile and voice so much.

Lena's POV
"Supergirl!" I stormed into the warehouse Lillian said she would be. "Face me!"
"Luthor." She turned, anger flamed behind blue eyes. "You killed my friends, my family. How could you!"
"Because your kind should never have come here! You're disgusting!" Flexing, a green light burst from my chest and hit the blonde. "You don't deserve to live here or anywhere for that matter." Another burst of kryptonite caused Supergirl to fall to her knees.
Screaming in agony, she pleaded for me to stop. I didn't. "Lena.."
I hate it when you see me cry.
Your t-shirt soaked through from my eyes…
There's that music again. Shaking my head, I tried to ignore it. "Don't speak my name!" Walking closer, I picked the woman up by the throat. "Once you're gone, I'll be free to kill every other alien on this planet."
When I'm not as tough as I should be and you see the softest part of me...
"Please, don't…"
I hate it when I let you down. When your smile turns around…
Tossing her aside, I let the final beam finish the fallen superhero. That noise needs to stop. I can't focus.
The queen of broken hearts. I'm here to save the world, but who will save supergirl?
A single tear rolled down my cheek. "What have I done?"
"Very good." Turning, I saw my mother clapping. "Now nothing will stand in our way."
I hate it when you see me cry…
Jolting forward, all I saw were bright lights and heard alarms buzzing. Starting to panic, I reached for my face. "Hold on, Miss Luthor. Let me take the tube out."
"Oh, she's going to be pissed at herself."
Starting to calm down, I rubbed my achy throat. "Miss Luthor? Do you know what year it is?"
"2016." My voice was hoarse. Looking around, I realized where I was. "What happened? My head is killing me."
"You were kidnapped." Alex spoke cautiously. "By your mother." Panic surged through me again. Pulling my gown away from my chest, I looked for any signs of surgery. No kryptonite heart. That was a dream. I didn't kill anyone. Thank God. "You good?"
"I think so." Running a hand through my hair, I sighed. "Everything is foggy."
"It'll take your body and mind a little while to realign. You've been asleep for a while."
After what felt like a hundred questions, the doctor seemed satisfied with my mental state. "Alright. I'm keeping you here a day or two longer for observation. You've been asleep for five days. You're very lucky, Miss Luthor."
"Thank you, Doctor."
"Everyone is going to be relieved that you're awake. Don't worry about L-Corp. Everything has been taken care of."
"That's a relief. Scavengers would be all over my company if anything happened to me."
Alex laughed. "You damn well know Kara wouldn't let that happen."
"She's awake?" Frantic footsteps approached the room. "The one time I leave for a walk and to get some sun, she wakes up." The frantic blonde paused at the door. "Lena, you're awake! Oh, thank goodness!" Before I realized what happened, warm hands cupped my face and soft lips were on mine. My eyes fluttered shut and I got lost in the kiss. This feels nice. Leaning back, bright blue eyes met mine. "I'm so glad you're awake. I missed you."
"Not to be rude but, who are you?"
