Author's Note:

Thanks to everyone who sent in applications! I had a lot of fantastic character profiles to read and it made the selection process really difficult. I originally was only going to accept 18 characters, but I've instead opted for 24. That's how epic these characters were! And I really want to do the characters justice so I felt upping the number would give plenty of time for most of the non-early boots to really develop. I was originally going to submit a character or two of my own strictly to be early cannon fodder but none of the characters are my own so that does unfortunately mean someone else's OC will go first but I haven't decided who yet. I'll be mapping the story out this weekend and working on chapter 1.

I'm only putting their first names, but since no one submitted characters with the same name as someone else that should be enough to recognize who it is. I will also not be writing what the character stereotypes are to leave some things up to mystery, especially for any potential villain characters.

To any who weren't accepted I'm sorry! All the characters I got were great but I had to cap it off at 24 because I know if I had tried to do any more I wouldn't have been able to get through the story. Maybe we'll still see them in other ways (Interns? Extras in challenges? Camera Crew?) but not entirely sure yet.

To those who were accepted I hope you're excited! As the story unfolds and the characters come into their own, I will of course be molding them to fit the story. I'm happy to take feedback on what your OC may or may not in a given situation, but the final decision on what they do will be mine. Please respect that decision.

I've determined we're going to have 3 teams of 8 and the teams have already been selected. Hoping to get the first chapter out soon!

Chris finished reading through the cast list Chef had handed him. He looked questioningly at his long-time companion, "Twenty-four? I thought you said only eighteen! Now we have to suffer through the biggest cast of whiny teenagers ever?"

"You'll have to take that up with the producers," Chef shrugged as he chopped some expired meat from the old refrigerator on a cutting board and slid it into a pot. "Want some lunch?"

"You're kidding right?"

"Just messin' man. I'm practicing for when those campers get here," Chef snorted.

"So do you intentionally make food look and taste like slop, or can you actually not cook?" Chris asked, genuinely unsure of the answer.

Chef got a wistful, faraway look in his eyes as he spoke, "That's a long story. It all started when I was five—"

Just a little teaser scene at the end! Will Chris get through to the producers (aka me) about having too many teens to share his summer with? What sort of strange backstory does Chef have that led him to his renowned cooking experiences? And most importantly, when are these campers getting here?
