Chapter V: A Day Off

Atlanta, GA

Kamari was lying on his stomach with his bare back exposed as the covers only covered the lower half of his body. He was fast asleep in his Queen sized bed in his 2 bedroom apartment in downtown Atlanta, Georgia. He had driven in last night after his match at an NXT Live Event. It was a grueling 6-hour drive that completely drained him of energy. But luckily the drive wasn't so bad. He decided it was time to come home after finding out that he had a few days off from NXT and decided it was time for a break from Florida. He was gonna be home until Wednesday morning.

The sound of his phone ringing from the nightstand beside him made him slowly start to open his eyes. He groaned as he reached over to his nightstand and simply slid his thumb across the screen and placed the phone to his ear.

"Hello," He said with a husky tone as he was damn near half-asleep.

"Hey, I didn't know you were asleep. I'm sorry I'll call ba-" Amaia said but Kamari cut her off in the end.

"No ma, you good. What's up?"

"I was just calling to check on you. You never did text me to tell me you made it home," Amaia said making Kamari smile as he rolled over onto his side.

"My bad ma, I made it in okay. It was kinda late, I figured you would've been asleep."

"I didn't sleep last night. I was too busy working on some music. You inspired me," she said as he rose, sitting along the side of the bed and looking out at his view of the city.

"You gone let me hear some?"

"Yeah, I'll let you listen when you come back."

"Good, I'm gonna hold you to that."

"What do you have planned today?"

"Not much. Just clean up around the house and maybe get a workout in today. What about you?"

"I have lunch with my sister and I'm gonna come home and work on some more music."

"That's good. I didn't know you have siblings."

"Yeah, just a sister. She's just 2 years younger than me. Same mom, different dads."

"I know what that's like. I got an older brother, same dad, different mom."

"So you're the youngest. Makes sense," she said as he raised his right brow in curiosity.

"What do you mean by that?"

"I'll tell you when you come back."

"Damn ma, you really trying to make sure I come back to Florida."

"Yeah, I need you to come back."

"Almost sounds like you miss me."

"Something like that. I need you to roll with me to my show. You're my good luck charm."

"Oh, that's all I am to you."

"No," she said giggling in his ear as he had a huge grin on his mug, "I don't know what you are to me yet but I know you're much more than that."

"I like the sound of that."

"I bet you do. Well listen I gotta go, I hope you have a good day and talk later?"

"Yes, ma'am we can do that."

"Alright, great. Bye!"

"Bye."

And with that, they both hung up the phone and got their days started. Kamari had a busy day planned. His morning was going to start with a lean and healthy breakfast that would lead to a full-body workout then he would come home have a snack, and clean up the place. After that, it would be a business meeting with his sneaker plug, Ray "The Don". Ray wanted to present Kamari with an investment opportunity that could add to his net worth. And there was no chance that he was gonna pass up an opportunity like that.

So now it was time to get his day started.

Later - Buckhead, GA

Kamari pulled up to the location where he was supposed to meet Ray. He stood outside what looked to be a medium-sized suite located in Lennox Mall sporting his "Concord" Jordan 11s with black distressed skinny jeans and a white v-neck with a black denim jacket.

"Aye yo, are you Kamari Kreed?" he heard someone say catching his attention, making him turn his head to see a younger African-American kid with a mohawk wearing an old Kreed shirt.

"Yeah, that's me, kid," Kamari said with a smirk as the kid walked up to him.

"I'm a big fan I been watching you since 2018 when you won that Intercontinental Championship at Backlash," the kid said as Kamari chuckled as he looked down at the ground before looking back up at the kid.

"That's nice to hear kid."

"You think I can get a picture?" the kid asked as he pulled out his phone. Kamari simply nodded and kneeled as the kid stood next to him snapping a selfie.

"Thank you, you're the best!" the kid responded before he gave Kamari an unexpected hug before running away, probably to find his mother. That left the WWE Superstar kneeling there with a smile on his face.

"Glad to see people still remember you," Kamari heard making him roll his eyes as he rose back up to feet and turned around to face Ray "The Don". Ray was a short, Asian-American male with black hair with blonde highlights and dark brown eyes.

"Ray," Kamari said as he walked towards Ray and grabbed his hand for a dap, and pulled him into a hug. The two pulled away and turned to face into the empty building.

"What's good, man? How's NXT treating you?"

"It's been good, especially thanks to you. Supplying me with the kicks before they even drop."

"Anything for my favorite client who is also my most famous client. Which brings me to now."

"Yeah, you gotta tell me why we're here."

"Well, you've been a client of mine for a long time and it's because of that that I wanna bring you into my world not as a client but as a partner, I want to establish stores and turn this into a business," Ray said as Kamari folded his arms and looked at Ray with a confused frown.

"So you bringing me in as a business partner? To help you open these stores?"

"Yeah. And, of course, I will still supply you with the kicks so you don't have to worry about that. Think of it as an investment, you help me open a few locations, we get the money flowing in and it'll be great. Besides you always told me that you wanted to make sure that you had a way of securing income when you're done with the ring. I'm just trying to give you that option early," Ray said as Kamari took a deep breath as the thoughts started to circulate in his head.

Ray was a pretty trustful guy but he didn't have a true background in business so he needed to be careful with this deal. This could jeopardize his future if the deal went bad.

"Ray, give me a day or two, I'm gonna call up my advisors and see what they say and call my brother and see if we could work up some type of contract and I'll send it over when I can," When Kamari meant Advisor he meant his mom before his mother got married to Kelvin she had earned a degree in Business Administration and she always used that background to help her son with his finances and his business decisions.

"Alright man, just let me know as soon as you can," Ray said as Kamari just nodded before the two started to walk down the hallway of the mall.

FL

Amaia was sitting on a covered patio of a locally owned Mexican restaurant with a woman who had clear lightly olive-tanned skin with long slightly curled black hair with blonde highlighted tips and eyes the same color as Amaia. The girl wore a black pencil skirt, a red tank top, and black ankle-high boots.

Amaia was having a nice, calm lunch with her sister allowing the two to catch up.

"Maia, school has been kicking my ass nonstop," said Amaia's younger, 21-year-old sister, Alexis. Alexis was in her 3rd year of school studying to get her BSN, her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She is currently on scholarship at the University of Miami.

"Well, you're the one who decided to skip school and go be a ring announcer."

"Girl, you always knew school was not for me."

"Yeah, I vividly remember Mom yelling at your ass for bringing home that D in Chemistry," Alexis said making Amaia roll her eyes. Alexis was always the better scholar than Amaia, the older sibling was more of an artsy person who excelled with music and art than she did in her school work.

Amaia was about to say something when her phone started going off and she saw the notification of a message coming from Mari across her screen.

"And who is Mari? And why does he have a heart next to his name?"

"Why are you asking so many questions?" Amaia said as she simply ignored her sister's question and looked away avoiding eye contact with her in the process.

"Why are you getting defensive? You must like this guy."

Amaia didn't respond but the way her lips curled up and the way her cheeks were blushing as the thought of the 6'2, 2nd-Generation Superstar ran through his head.

"So you do like him?" Alexis said as she picked up her glass filled with Strawberry Daiquiri and took a sip.

"He's pretty cute, sweet, and caring, he's built like a freaking statue. I don't know too much about him yet but what I do know I like so far. He's given me confidence in my music and in myself, I think I can see him as a boyfriend."

"Have you given him any?"

"Any what?"

"You know, any… pie," Alexis said as Amaia chuckled and rolled her eyes.

"I'm not having this conversation with my sister."

"If you show me a picture of him I won't ask any more questions."

Amaia looked down at her phone and his name come across the screen again for a text message.

"I'll do you one better," Amaia said as she unlocked her phone and tapped on the Facetime icon before calling the new man in her life. Alexis scooted her chair over to sit beside her sister as the call had quickly gotten answered.

"Yooo, wassup ma," he answered as he held the phone in his right hand as he drove with his left.

"Hey Mari, what are you doing?"

"On my way, back home. I just finished up with some business. What are you doing?"

"Having lunch with my sister. She saw your text and demanded that I call you," Amaia lied, making Alexis roll her eyes before she stepped into the shot.

"Hey," Alexis said with a friendly smile as Kamari chuckled.

"Hey, damn ma you ain't tell me beauty runs in the family. I wish I could see what mama looks like," he replied as Amaia simply chuckled at his response and shook her head.

"Trust me you will one day."

"Might be one day soon," Alexis said under her breath making Amaia give her a bit of side-eye.

"Alright ma, I got some ideas for our next date. Call me back when you get a chance."

"Okay be safe in Atlanta, You better come back in one piece."

"Alright, I will bye Amaia."

"Bye 'Mari." The two would go to hang up the phone as Amaia looked on with a small grin on her face. She turned to face her sister who looked at her giggling at her face.

"I have not seen you smile like this since Jackson Baker in 8th grade." Amaia rolled her eyes at the mention of a very old flame.

"This guy is different. I really do like him."

"I can tell," Alexis said as she took another sip of her drink, "but if you don't give him some. I will."

Amaia rolled her eyes and playfully smacked her sister on the arm as the two would go on to have their lunch and enjoy their time with one another.

A/N: So I wasn't gonna do this at first but I decided after writing this chapter and the previous chapter that I envision certain characters as certain people for Kamari Kreed, I picture Michael B. Jordan, just a bit taller and younger. He's my favorite actor so he's kinda the face claim for a lot of my characters including Charge. If you don't like it, fight me.

So the official face claims are as follows

Kamari Kreed - Michael B. Jordan

Angela Kreed - Angela Bassett

Amaia Green - JoJo Offerman

Alexis Green - Becky G
