"Jamie sweetie." Mary tried to gently nudge him awake.
"Hey Jamie, wake up." Frank chimed in, Jamie was having another nightmare again, he would jerk in his sleep occasionally speaking.
"No, no…" Jamie muttered, "Ahhh." He finally woke up, fear filled his blue orbs.
"Here, take a sip of water." Mary offered. Jamie immediately realized he had another nightmare.
The past two weeks Jamie had slept in his parents room, his nightmares weren't as bad as they were when he was sleeping alone in his room but he still had them.
"Are you okay?" Mary asked, rubbing his back. Jamie gulped down the entire glass.
"I have to pee." Jamie got out of his parents bed and walked down the hall to the restroom. He closed the toilet seat top after he was finished, turning on the sink water he checked his appearance, the dark circles under his eyes, his skin still pale, he hardly recognized himself, he lifted his white t-shirt showing his scar from his gunshot wound, he traced the tender scared spot with his finger. He pulled his shirt down, finished washing his hands, he shut off the water returning to his parents room.
"Do you want to talk about it?" Frank asked, watching his son crawl back into bed.
"This happened over a month ago, why won't it stop." Jamie sat up with tears in his eyes. "It's like he's haunting me."
"I'm really sorry Jamie… Isaac was my ex partner and he went after you to get back at me and I-"
"I don't blame you dad… no one does," Jamie hugged the pillow tighter. Mary slightly smiled, she touched Jamie's hand.
"What do you think about therapy?"
"Um."
"I think it'll be nice for you," Frank spoke softly, "The therapist might be able to help you in ways we can't."
"I'm not crazy dad." Family dinners always led him to think people who needed a therapist were crazy.
"No one said that you were." Frank chimed in.
"What about school?" Jamie asked, over the last two weeks Jamie had been home, the school work he had missed he was catching up on, but he soon had to go back, there were four more months of school left and it was his sophomore year of high school.
"Well what do you think? Do you want to be homeschooled full time or go back?"
"Well um." Jamie was hesitant, he'd be the first of any of his siblings to be homeschooled, his mother works four days a week at St. Vincent's hospital and his father worked all the time. Who would homeschool him? As of lately Frank, Danny and Joe have been alternating their off days according to make sure Jamie was never home alone although a squad car sat on their home 24/7. The threat of Andrew and Dallas was still there, they haven't been spotted anywhere in the city but still, it's a risk they are not willing to take.
"It's just something to think about, no rush." His father assured. Jamie nodded his head.
"Shall we go back to bed?" Mary offered. She turned the bedside lamp off.
"Hey kid Joe walked into the front door of their family home, Jamie's eyes landed on him, he took in the appearance of his little brother, his mom was very stern to him on all his siblings that they were not to point out Jamie's obvious signs of his appearance.
"You're here early." Jamie turns to the clock on the wall.
"Yeah." Joe smiled at him. Joe never wanted to be late again, he still blames himself for not arriving on time the day Jamie was abducted. "So what do you want to do today?" Jamie shrugged, turning back to his bowl of cereal.
"I mean what can we really do? I can't leave the house and I'm actually afraid too."
"I'm really sorry about all this Jamie-" His younger brother stood up to his words. "Where are you going?" Joe watched him walk off.
"The backyard. I could use some sun." Joe watched Jamie go into the backyard with a blanket and sit out in the warm summer sun.
"You know it would be easier to get some sun if you weren't wrapped in a blanket." Joe pulled up a seat next to Jamie, minutes of silence had gone by.
"Do you think I'll be like this forever?" Jamie asked.
"I don't. You won't be afraid forever Jamie."
"Thanks Joe." Jamie's eyes welled with tears threatening to fall.
"What do you think about maybe going back to school?" Joe asked. Jamie took a few seconds before responding.
"What if… What if they're out there waiting for me…" Jamie said referring to the last two men on the loose that had abducted him. As of right now the NYPD had no clue where the two were which definitely kept all the Reagan men on their toes.
"I understand that worry, the NYPD has been actively looking for those two, they're thinking that those two have maybe fled the state." Joe replied.
"I just dont think I want to go back yet." Jamie had responded. "My friends call and ask to come over daily and I just can't face them."
"They love you Jamie."
"I mean look at me Joe, I have dark circles under my eyes, I've lost around 30 pounds over the past month since it all happened and I'm pale." Joe stayed quiet. "I know you all agree just no one says anything."
"Jamie… with what you've been through it makes sense, your physical appearance is temporary." Joe sat up in his chair. "Maybe start small before you make the jump to going to school, maybe bring a friend over then maybe another after that, get comfortable, maybe consider going back to school?" Jamie nodded to his suggestions.
A few days had gone by and Jamie had finally worked up the courage to invite his friends over. Frank had the day off and Danny stopped over. The doorbell had rang, Frank had gone to open it
"Hey Mr. Reagan." Frank smiled at three familiar faces he hadn't seen in a while.
"Hey boys." Frank stepped out on the pouch, closing the door behind him. "First I want to say thank you guys for calling everyday to try to talk to Jamie. You guys are great friends."
"Of course we love Jamie." Jamie's friend Parker smiled.
"I just wanted to mention what Jamie had gone through, it was traumatic, so he's having a hard time with everything so I was hoping if you guys wouldn't comment on his physical looks or talk about the situation unless he brings it up." The boys nodded. Frank led the three into the home, they spotted Jamie in the living room snuggled in a blanket.
"Hey J." Parker smiled at his friend.
"Hey guys." Jamie smiled a bit.
"We missed Jamie thanks for having us over." Liam sat on the couch the other followed.
"Yeah… sorry i have been ignoring you guys its just-"
"It's no problem Jamie." Liam interrupted. Jamie smiled.
"What games do you play? It's been a while since i've kicked your ass on the playstation" Parker grabbed the controllers.
"Game on." Jamie sat up taking a controller.
"What are we going to do Andrew?" Dallas paced the room. "The kid hasn't left his house since he's been home from the hospital, who knows if they'll ever let him leave we need to get the hell out of this city, especially now that the news has died down!"
"He'll come out soon and when he does we'll be there to finish him." Andrew declared.
