As the jet was readying to leave Tony was approached by Coulson, he didn't look happy but even if he did it wouldn't mean anything good.

"What's up spyster?" The man's face didn't so much as twitch.

"You know enough not to go telling everyone you know that life exists outside our own right?" Tony sniffed pushing up his sunglasses,

"You wound me Mr. agent! I see you're thinking my common sense is lower than your regular scrub but I'll have you know I can be reasonable." Coulson looked like he had other things to say but Tony wanted to go home.

"I'll just tell a few people," He said flashing a shit eating grin, the other didn't even protest the agent just looked fed up.

"I hear you reached out to Dr. Foster? They would be better suited with our teams working alongside them." The poor guys heart wasn't even in it but felt the need to try, kudos Coulson.

"After being told you lot were being bullies?" Tony pulled down his glasses, "You try telling Bruce no and see how that turns out." The agent shrugged one shoulder,

"You can't a fault a man for trying."

"Nope!" This time with a wink he gave parting words, "Stay safe bud, let me know if any other crazy thing happens and we'll come and protect you." Laughing Tony went inside his jet.

He sat sinking into his comfortably made seats and startled when one of the plasma screens came to life and the haughty glare of Fury bared down on him. Tony let out a loud groan.

"Seriously? Not even an hours rest? I'm not that wicked."

"Stark," he more or less snarled, "Good job not getting anyone killed." Tony wasn't expecting a compliment, he'd be honest.

"Aw," Tony wiped a fake tear as Fury got into the real purpose for calling and the inventor couldn't help but wonder if the only reason there wasn't an in person scare was that Bruce made sure that wasn't appreciated.

"You took the scientist's under your wing I heard." Tony smiled,

"Yup!"

They stared at each other for a while and Tony had the feeling this could last till nightfall so he waved his hand,

"C'mon Popeye, what'd you expect? Bruce told me there are aliens out there, alien gods and that there were these nice little scientists that could help us understand how to bridge the gap so to speak. How could I not?" Or something like that.

"Keep an eye on the two, their safety is on your head."

Tony frowned, "Two?"

Fury smirked, the bastard. "Dr. Selvig decided it was in his best interests to work for SHIELD." The billionaire tsked,

"Why would anyone work for a sourpuss like you? My benefits have to outclass yours, better cellphones for one."

For once Fury sounded not angry, "Going into cellulars Stark?" Tony kicked up his feet,

"Heh, oh you're so going to cry tears of envy when all of my workers get state of the art phones," he held up his hand in an arc, "Stark phones better than all the rest. Course the plebs can have the normal commercial version."

"I heard you worked with one of the potential avengers while taking down that monstrosity."

The guy with the bow right? The folder Fury gave a while back said something along those lines. What was his fancy name?

Hawkeye.

"So that was Hawkeye! I dunno he had a bit of an attitude problem." There was barely any attitude but Tony liked making fun of Fury and his baby agents. The good vibes chilled as Fury set his face into a more deeply ingrained glare,

"Now tell me the truth could you have taken the thing down on your own? Or was the offworlder needed?" The inventor frowned as he thought back, this was regarding their worlds protection he couldn't give too much of a half-assed answer.

"It didn't budge unless it wanted to, if we didn't figure out what it wanted it never would've left the city and there was no easy way of blocking or redirecting its blasts. So while things would've been worse off without Thor I did figure out a few possible ways to defeat it and my last action seemed to really damage it so yeah, I think I could've. It just wouldn't have been pretty."

Fury nodded pleased as much as the man could be. "I'll have you formally meet Hawkeye and assess if you can work with him."

Tony got the impression that it didn't matter even if he couldn't, that he would have to in the end. The options Fury gave were slim for who could potentially join the whole 'avenger' thing.

Fury raised a solitary eyebrow, "I don't need to tell you to keep your mouth shut about the existence of other worlds do I?" Tony rolled his eyes,

"Jeez mom, I dunno do you? Chill man, I already got the talk from Coleslaw. Rhodey and Pepper I refuse not to be able to tell. One's basically an avenger in a way and Pepper is life." He'd tell Happy too of course and as for what the scientists did wasn't Tony's problem, well it might be but Tony wasn't going to let it be. If they wanted to blab let them.

"You know what this adventure taught me? It was that I need backup, not the agent kind offense intended. How about I get into that folder you gave me eh?"

The Green Goliath. If an ally could be made of him Tony could rest easier especially now that he knew the cosmos was bigger than he really wanted to think about. Dread was too easily drawn in if he did.

"Busy bee I see. Treat this one with caution Stark, I don't want to peel off your innards when you run your mouth as you do." With that beautiful mental image Fury signed off leaving Tony to retort,

"Like that would happen Cyclops."

Slouched deep in his seat now he asked,

I wont become paste right?

A nonmilitary entity with a nonthreatening presence should get through to him with the highest percentage of survival.

So this is a job for Tony Stark am I right?

Indeed.

Tony rubbed his beard, feeling the day weigh on him.

What's chatting with with another overpowered being going to hurt? It'll be just another Tuesday.

Tony felt Bruce nod as if to say 'that's the spirit'.
