She sat by the campfire and looked at her surroundings for a moment before finally opening the old journal, she was not sure what did she expect to see. Does this have answers? She shouldnt make assumptions before she started. So she decided to dig in and read. Opening the journal, she saw the first entry 12th of September

'I began my search in the summer of 1956 after hearing of the town of Weeks, a place that had an unusual number of missing persons reports. America is filled with such towns. But what made this one more odd than some, was that there had never been a report of a body found. Indeed, the number of open missing cases stood at a staggering 364, the last of which happened a mere ten weeks ago. Thus I embark on my journey'

The first entry was short, but it told her that Benedict Baker was a sort of an investigator. But what was he investigating? Missing cases that stood at 364?! Thats incredible. And this is from 1956. This journal was old and yet it was here in one piece, albeit barely. So this all started as an innocent investigation. She wondered how did it go wrong that it ended up here. The 2nd entry was a few says later 21st of September

'It only took me a few hours upon my arrival to feel the malignant presence that lurked in the forgotten town of Weeks. Its buildings and structures in various stages of decay, all of them abandoned to the ravages of time. I visited the library in Wetherfield, a nearby town. It didn't take me long to find information about the region. Once a vast, prosperous and sprawling industrial area, Weeks, suddenly became a ghost town, not through the lack of iron ore, but on account of a series of terrible again, I had found a place touched by the darkest of evils, so powerful that it spread like a virus in the area, consuming the world around it, rotting the core from within. The locals of Wetherfield would not discuss or talk further of the town of Weeks. The locals acted like the sort of thing you would see in your weekly Penny Dreadful, their eyes wild with terror. What happened here?'

So he found a Ghost Town, something that had happened. She had to admit, this person was quite the writer. She had to say, she was sort of engaged in this story. Maybe the fact that this was written by a real person and not a work of fiction made it interesting. She was intrigued. Out of curiosity she flipped through the pages just to see how many entries this has. Though as she was skipping pages, she stopped as she saw something familiar. It was a crude doodle, but she even she could recognize it was the Clown. As she was starting to read that, she noticed the fog swirling around her. Does this mean its her turn for a trial?

She found herself with 3 other people. A hispanic man who had sunglasses, a purple shirt and was checking his phone or what she assumed was a phone. Right right, people from other times. He was probably from the future. A lot of stuff must have changed from 2009. The 2nd person was an asian man wearing a yellow raincoat. And last was a familiar face in the form of Claudette.

"Guys. This is Rita. Rota that there is Jonah he's a CIA agent and he's actually great for gens if you're new. And yellow coat over there is Yoichi"
Yoichi gave a polite nod "Pleased to meet you. Although Claudette nows not the time. The killer will hear us"
"Killer? He's here?" she asked him
Yoichi replied "Yes, he's watching us. Just beyond what the campfire lights up. We cant tell who they are, but they see us just before the trial starts, so they know who to hunt"
"Brace yourselves. Its starting"
The Fog swallowed them all and soon enough they found themselves in the trial

Rita would not know this place, but those that do, could tell you right now its the Crotus Prenn Asylum.
Rita wandered around, not knowing where to go. Until she heard the sound of a generator. There she found Yoichi.
"Yoichi, right?"
He smiled and nodded "Thats right. Do you want to join and help me fix this. We'll do it faster that way."
"Right" she said gently as she joined him. The two worked on the generator
"Do you know who the killer is?" she asked assuming he had experiences with them and maybe some advice
"Uhm, no not yet. I havent heard anything."
And just as if on cue, the ominous heartbeat starts
"Spoke too soon. Lets go."
"But the generator." she asked
"Its too risky. Hide and dont run. The killer can track you if you run" he said and stealthed away.
She looked around and hid behind a wall. This was what the survivors called the jungle gym. She heard the killer kick the generator. This time she was more careful. She needed to see what she was facing and what she found was... a cop. Wait? Wheres the killer? The heart beat is gone for some reason. Did this Entity make a mistake and throw 5 survivors? Considering it took her and placed her in a trial right away. Perhaps it also took another person. Unless this is Chris that Tapp mentioned. She noticed the sleeve, it said S.T.A.R.S, wait... that means he's part of Rebeccas group. That means he's a survivor.

She appeared out of her cover and approached him.
"Is it safe, did the killer leave?"
The blonde man just looked at her blankly before adjusting his glasses, tapping his wristwatch and saying "Seven minutes. Seven minutes is all I can spare to play with you."
Rita was confused by that remark.
"Rita!" she suddenly heard her name. She looked and saw Claudette who was panicked and looks like as if she was to have a heart attack "What are you doing? Thats the killer!"
"The killer?" she looked back at the officer who suddenly chuckled and she saw... tentacles sprouting from his arm. Before she could even think of reacting, he dashed at her, grabbed her and threw her at Claudette injuring both of the survivors and infecting Rita with Uroboros.
Rita though didnt know of the virus. But she did feel as if she was infected with every disease on the planet, she felt as if she could barely run. Though that was probably the case. She looked behind and saw the cop chasing them. Ugh she felt so stupid. She didnt even notice it. He was holding what Deb would probably call a 'fuck you huge ass knife'. It was a combat knife,a vicious blade with a serrated edge to aid in tearing up his opponents. Probably sheithed when talking to her

With them being disorganized and the killer being swift and powerful, it was for sure how the trial ended. The first one to go was Claudette, and then when 2 gens were left Jonah was sacrificed. It was down to Rita and Yoichi surprisingly. But as they did one more gen, Rita went down. The killer picked her up. She did struggle to free herself from his grasp, but his grip was solid as if he had an Iron Grasp over her "Poor performance indeed." he told her as he carried her to the hook
"Let me go!" she said as she struggled. She felt some hope as she felt his grip loosening up, she felt as if she could escape. But just as she felt freedom, he managed to place her on her final hook
"I tire of wasting my time with you." he said disguisted and annoyed, before going to find Yoichi who actually managed to escape via hatch.
It was pretty much another trial and another death. But unlike the last time, she was more useful and she was not the sole reason everyone lost. Only a partial one. So... success?
Well, at least she will go back to the camp fire and see what else she can learn
