The Baxter Building, the world's central hub for science. It's a state of the art building constructed by and named after renowned architect Leland Baxter, and served as the home base of the Baxter Foundation. Founded in 2004 by renowned scientist couple Franklin and Mary Storm, the Baxter Foundation is widely considered as the world's greatest scientific institution, with the goal of helping those who are intellectually gifted find their calling in life and reach their true potential. As one would expect, this brought thousands of young gifted minds from all over the world.
But most notably, this is the headquarters and home of the Fantastic Four, one of the most well-known and renowned superhero teams in the world.
About two years ago, four young individuals were part of an experiment that involved a teleportation device in attempt to explore dimensions and alternate realities beyond their imaginations. However, the experiment didn't play out as expected and resulted in the four gaining extraordinary powers. Over time, the four would eventually learn to control their powers and decided to use them to help those in need.
And so, the Fantastic Four were born!
Although the team are superheroes (and are rather proud of that fact), they see themselves as more of scientists, teachers and adventurers.
Over the past two years, they not only established themselves as a superhero team, but have also been on various adventures.
They've explored remote nations, lost civilizations, underground worlds, alien planets, alternate dimensions and realities, and they've even traveled through time.
As for the team themselves….
Mr. Fantastic
Real Name: Reed Richards
Ethnicity and Nationality: Welsh-American
Appearance: Has a slender and gangly build, fair skin, brown eyes, brown hair in a undercut style, oddly white hair stumble on the temples, a walrus mustache and a Brett beard.
Age: 26
Height: 6'5
Weight: 187 lbs
Bio: Ever since he was young, Reed Richards always had a passion for science, spending his free time conducting ant experiment he can think of with the help of childhood best friend Ben Grimm. Shortly after graduating high school, Reed would immediately enroll at the Baxter Foundation, where he would meet his future lover (and eventually wife) Susan Storm, and her younger brother Johnny. Life was pretty simple for Reed...until the teleportation experiment. In the present-day, when Reed's not doing Fantastic Four stuff, he's working as a professor (teaching aerospace engineering) for the Baxter Foundation. He's also married to Susan Storm (having been so for about three years now) and the father to their one-year old twins Franklin and Valeria Richards.
Powers and Abilities: Reed can stretch his entire body to incredible lengths. He can also morph it into various shapes and thanks to his malleable skin, can withstand most kinds of impacts, blunt or sharp.
The Thing
Real Name: Ben Grimm
Ethnicity and Nationality: Polish-American
Appearance: Has an extremely broad and muscular build, orange rock-like skin, and blue eyes.
Age: 27
Height: 6'11
Weight: 1,325 lbs
Bio: Ben Grimm lived a relatively normal life, being best friends with the relatively not-quite normal Reed. During his middle school years, he would gain some notoriety as a star football player. This would eventually earned Ben a football scholarship at Columbia University. Despite going to different colleges, Ben and Reed's friendship still remained strong. And to this day, it still does. But at one point, it did get tested though. Despite not being a student or professor at the Baxter Foundation, Ben ended up participating in the teleportation experiment, at the request of Reed. But out of all his companions, Ben was the one who was changed the most physically, now having a rather monstrous appearance, complete with rock-like skin. Things took a turn for the worse for Ben. People became afraid of him due to his appearance, his girlfriend dumped him, and he even lost an offer to play for the New York Giants. Ben fell into a deep depression, feeling like his life was over. But over time, things would turn around for him. Thanks to his heroic actions via the Fantastic Four, people slowly began to warm up to him and he was even offered again by the Giants to play for their team. Ben would also find love again in a blind jazz singer named Alicia Masters.
Powers and Abilities: Thanks to his rock-like skin, Ben possesses superhuman strength and resilience.
The Invisible Woman
Real Name: Susan Storm-Richards
Ethnicity and Nationality: Danish-American/Jamaican
Appearance: Has a slender and curvaceous build, slightly tanned skin, blue eyes, pink lips and long blonde curly hair.
Age: 24
Height: 5'7
Weight: 125 lbs
Bio: Being the daughter to scientist couple Franklin and Mary Storm, Sue was natural-born genius, having inherited both her parents' intelligence. For her entire childhood going into early adulthood, she was a student at the Baxter Foundation. During her late teens, she would meet Reed, who had just enrolled in the institution. They would quickly become friends over their shared passion for science, and over the years, that friendship would eventually turn into love. In the present-day, Sue is working as a professor for the institute (teaching psychics). She's also married to Reed and the mother to their twins Franklin and Valeria.
Powers and Abilities: Sue has the power to make herself and anything around her invisible, as well mentally create near-indestructible force-fields.
The Human Torch
Real Name: Johnny Storm
Ethnicity and Nationality: Danish-American/Jamaican
Appearance: Has a slender build, slightly tanned skin, blue eyes, long blonde hair in the form of dreadlocks, and ear piercings.
Age: 16
Height: 5'8
Weight: 160 lbs
Bio: Despite being the son of Franklin and Mary Storm, Johnny didn't really inherit either of his parents' intellect. As a result of this, it made him feel like a black sheep among the family. However, in spite of that, he would develop a interest in engineering, thanks to lifelong passion for cars. Despite living at the Baxter Building, Johnny attends public school at Midtown High School. In his spare time, he's usually either tinkering on something for himself or helping out Reed or his family members with an experiment.
Powers and Abilities: Johnny has the power generate and manipulate fire. He can also engulf his entire body his flames (thanks to him now having a high resistant to fire), absorb any nearby fire, and use his flames to fly.
Note: So that's my take on this new Ultimate version of the Fantastic Four. This more or less stays true to how they were portrayed in the original Ultimate Universe, but with some notable tweaks like making a Baxter Foundation an educational institution and aging up Reed, Ben and Sue to be in their mid-20s.
As their outfits, they would be pulled directly from fan-artist Gabriel Dourado's take on team, which you can find on Instagram: gabrieldcomics.
