After the support group Ace and Graham sneak off to a location that they found recently. "This has been some wonderful weeks Ace."
"I know, I guess it is a good thing The Doctor needed our help."
"It was," they settle on the blanket that Ace brought. Ace leans against Graham who starts to rub her shoulders.
"Mhmm that feels good."
"What does?"
Ace looks at him, "you rubbing my shoulders." Graham takes advantage of Ace looking up at him and brings his lips to hers.
"How was that?"
She opens her eyes, "felt even better."
"I agree that it felt amazing." Ace reaches her hand up and brings Graham down for another kiss. Little do they know that their secret hideaway is not so secret anymore when they break apart again they notice a camera flash. They separate quickly and get up, grab the blanket and the basket and run off to get in the car.
"I am sorry that you have to deal with this. The paps have never been this bad about trying to find out about my relationship."
"Ace, I really like you. I understand that now that it is obvious that we are indeed a we, that there are times we may have our pictures taken. You are Dororthy McShane after all."
"I would never think anyone would be this interested in my romantic life."
"I am."
"You are my romantic life," she laughs.
"I'm happy that I am."
"I am too, though now where are we going to have our little dates."
"I guess we will be having them at one of our places. I know I would like to take you out too."
"I know I will like that." They pull up to Ace's. While Ace is on the phone trying to find out who took the picture, Graham is setting up their picnic indoors. When Ace enters her living room she finds that the lights are dimmed, candles lit and the blanket on the ground. "Graham?"
"Ace." She walks up to him and wraps her arms around his neck.
"Thank you." She brings her lips to his.
"You have no need to thank me."
"I know, but still. You didn't have to do all this, especially with the candles."
"I wanted to help you relax."
"You are doing just that." They sit back on the blanket candles creating a soft atmosphere.
"Graham?"
"Yes Ace?"
"You may want to make sure that you do a sweep around the outside of your flat every now and then."
"Because of the paps?"
"Yes, you would think I am some 'A list celebrity.'"
"You are to me." Ace lets out a loud laugh at that.
"You're sweet."
"Not as sweet as you."
"Graham," she says laughing again. "What," Ace says after she is done laughing.
"I love to hear you laugh." They share a small smile.
"If we were outside, we would be watching the clouds like we did last time."
"If I am honest I spent half the time watching you, watching the clouds."
"You looked away half the time that I looked at you."
"Except when you caught me that time."
"Let's reenact that time."
"Lets," their lips move together in synchronization as tongues begin to duel for dominance. When the need to breath comes apparent they break apart and continue to smile at each other. "I think I am falling in love with you."
Ace's eyes go wide for a second before they soften again, "I think I am falling in love with you too." Eyes close and lips touch again candles dancing in the night. Graham's right hand is cradling Ace's cheek. As they again break apart their eyes flutter open. Both bite their own bottom lip. "I shouldn't be so nervous."
"Neither should I."
"We make a pair don't we? Both nervous about the other and their own feelings."
"We do make a pair, a good one."
"Yeah, a good one." They relax into each other's embrace. They fall asleep on the floor when they wake up in the morning. Both are sore. "I guess we fell asleep on the floor."
"We did, a nice peaceful sleep." Both of their phones start to go off. "Could this be about last night?"
"Probably, are you ok?" He rubs her arm.
"I will be."
Ace picks up her phone, "you need to turn on the news."
"Ok." Ace turns on the news to see a news story.
"If you remember from a few weeks ago we got pictures of A Charitable Earth's founder Dorothy McShane at a bar with a bunch of friends including some mystery bloke that she was seen kissing. Well, last night she was spotted with the same bloke sharing a few more kisses. We are still trying to figure out who he is and how she met him." Ace has hung up her cellphone and has gotten closer to Graham.
"I am glad that they don't know who you are yet."
"I have a feeling they are going to figure out soon."
"You have someone that will say everything."
"A few of my old mates who wanted me to date right after losing Grace."
"Did they not like her?"
"They loved her, but at the time she died none of them had lost a wife before, and it took me until Grace to be married for the first time. We were only married for three years."
"I remember you telling me that."
"We are back and we just got word from an anonymous source that the man is former bus driver Graham O'Brien." Ace and Graham share a look as more pictures of them appear on screen.
"That is a good picture of us," the picture is shown with Ace's hand around his neck as his head is leaning down and they are kissing.
"It is a good picture," Ace leans against Graham, "I have a feeling that Kate may have to put us on desk duty, because of all of this."
"We are getting reports that they left the secluded area together."
"Of course we left together, we are a couple."
"Ace?"
"Yes?"
"We should turn off the tv."
"Why?"
"I can feel you getting more stiff."
"How can you be so calm?"
"When I came home that night after you called me Ryan was on the computer."
"Did he already know I was?"
"He did a little bit, so he looked more up. I wasn't happy with him when he did it. I had to remind him about the invasion of privacy."
"What all did he find out?"
"A little bit about some of your previous relationships, when he started talking, I told him to stop."
"Thank you." Graham grabs the remote and turns off the tv. "Now you really have to be careful when you go back to your flat." Graham's phone goes off again. "You should answer it."
"Hello."
"Congratulations on nailing Dorothy McShane."
"Hello Aaron."
"You still know my voice."
"Of course I do."
"Ever think of my mum or son."
"Of course I do, Ryan has met Dorothy." Ace looks at him and he mouths 'Aaron, Grace's son.' She walks away to let him have his call in private.
"So she knows about my Mum."
"She does, she has heard about her from me. You didn't even care when she died. What you don't know is that Ryan convinced me to admit my feelings for Ace."
"Yeah right."
"Aaron I am going to go, why don't you call your son."
Graham walks up behind Ace who is washing some dishes and wraps his arms around her from behind and kisses her cheek. "How was the talk?"
"He may be my step-son, but he comes and goes out of Ryan's life as he pleases. From my understanding I have been more involved in Ryan's life since I have known him than his father ever was."
"That's because you are a good man."
"I did tell Aaron to call Ryan." Ace turns around and they stand in the other's arms, "I hope he does. I have a feeling it was Aaron that told the reporter who I was."
"He will probably be calling the reporter to tell them everything he knows about you."
"Then he will have to talk about how he was a deadbeat, and I was there to see his son graduate from school, and more."
"I do have a few friendly reporters."
"No, I don't want to destroy him. Everything he can possibly say will not be bad on me, and the fact it has taken me years to move on from Grace."
"Will also prove you were really in love with her."
"Exactly, I know this isn't something good to talk about to or with the person I am currently with."
"I love that we can have conversations like this. You know I love hearing about Grace."
"You also understand that the second Sunday of each month I go to her grave."
"I want you to continue to do that as long as you want to."
"You are Ace, Ace." She throws her head back and laughs.
"You are only the second one to say something like that, that wasn't me. The only other person, well alien, was the Doctor. He liked to say he had an Ace up his sleeve." Graham starts to smile, "please don't ever say that."
Graham sticks out his lip, "you are no fun."
"Really," with an eyebrow shooting up and backing away playfully.
"Oh come on Ace."
"If you say I am no fun." She dashes away and he follows her; they chase the other throughout the house laughing. After a while they fall on the couch.
