In Sickness and Health

It was turning into another long day. They had found a demon with three jewel shards. All were relaxing by a river in the shade, when Kagome sensed the shards.
"Guys! I sense three jewel shards!"
"What! Where!" exclaimed Inuyasha as he jumped up from his relaxed position.
"Over there!" said Kagome as she pointed to the left.
It didn't take them long before they found the demon. It was an old ogre demon, who was using dark magic as his power.
"Hey you! Hand over your jewel shards," yelled Inuyasha.
"Hmmmm…I see your woman has some jewel shards too," said the ogre as he looked down at Kagome.
"What?" Kagome asked shocked.
"Oh…I see," said the ogre chuckling, "so the rumors were wrong then. You haven't claimed her as your mate."
He looked around observing the group to see their reactions. Miroku and Sango were standing in the back of the group next to each other. Both of their expressions were of shock and curiosity. Kagome was in front of them with her backpack and Shippo in her arms. It also amused the ogre that she was turning pink. Inuyasha was in front of everyone like usual, but he looked pissed.
"Quit the talken and just hand over your shards!" growled Inuyasha in frustration.
He loved Kagome but was afraid to do anything about it. In his mind all he could think was 'who would want a hanyou?'
"If you want them then you will have to take them half-breed!" roared the old ogre losing his patience.
With that, they started a long battle.
Three long hours later the battle finally ended. Inuyasha had delivered the killing blow but was badly injured in the process. In the ogres last few breaths he chuckled.
"What are you laughing at?" growled Inuyasha.
"You, you filthy half-breed!"
"Why is that?" asked Inuyasha as he winced in pain.
"Because the cures I have laid upon you will surly kill you in three hours. Tell me half-breed, can you feel the draining already?"
"Shut up!" Inuyasha roared as the ogre died.
"Inuyasha!" exclaimed kagome from the trees.
She had been thrown back with Miroku on the ogre's last blow.
"What does that mean?" asked Shippo as he jumped on Inuyasha's shoulder.
"I don't know," said Inuyasha going pail.
All of a sudden he cried out in pain and dropped to one knee holding his shoulder when Shippo jumped off him.
"Inuyasha! Are you alright?" asked Kagome as she knelt next to him.
"Fine," Inuyasha grumbled as he stood back up.
"Either way, I think we should go talk to Kaede," said Sango as she petted Kilila in her arms.
Everyone but Inuyasha agreed. Surprisingly he stayed quiet and fallowed.
