Chapter 2: Rising Fire

After that duel was finally over, we returned to the house and were relaxing after a long day. Maria was ordering us some dinner on her laptop while I was finishing checking my laptop."
Maria nodded and she finished typing and she resumed, "It'll be here in about 35 minutes or so, girl."
I nodded as I went back to work and she walked over to my table and she then replied, "You have a amazing dragon deck, girl. That was one amazing combo you did to win the duel."
I smiled and resumed, "I always wanted to try that combo and this was the first time I ever did so. I think my dragon deck is poweful."
"It really Is. Now can you tell me about this Adam Smasher person?"
I nodded and resumed, "It's a long one, so you might want to sit down."
She did so and then I resumed, "My uncle who was from Night City told me about this story. Back in 2077, There was a bunch of wars against all gangs in the city plus the major groups that were based in the other areas of Night City as well. It all ended when the Araska Tower was heavily damaged and nearby obliterated with all the fighting and wars happening around the city. Must people think it was started because of that former merc Vivian that was only known as V, had a chip in her head that housed the soul of Johnny Silverhand, a deceased rock star from back in the early 2020s. After Araska was wrecked and their company was no more, V and her wife Judy and their best friend Panam Palmer helped get the chip out of her head and had it sealed in a large storage box with the remains and battle chips of Adam Smasher, a huge robotic killing machine that the owner of Araska had as a bodyguard. Right now, rumors say that V, Judy and Panam moved to the Southern part of the United States, but they haven't been seen since that day by anyone from Night City since. I've heard they are still alive to this day and living their lives somewhere. Gangs from all over California have been looking through this city and Night City for the remains of Adam Smasher, but no one has been successful."
Maria nodded and replied, "Now there is a gang that is looking for the remains now? That is one sick thing. I hope they don't find them."
"I'm hoping that as well."
Maria stared down at my deck and she replied, "Have you always been into dragons, girl?"
I nodded to her and resumed, "I've been into them all my life, girl. I've love dragons since I was a little girl and they can be the most beautiful creatures in folklore and can turned into the most powerful of monsters and they showed that off in Duel Monsters as well. Some of the rarest monsters in the game are dragons and I Can't wait to see or use them all someday. Remember I told about that time I went to Night CIty I got that tattoo of a large black dragon on my back from my aunt."
She nodded and resumed, "You've told me that before. Can I see?"
I nodded and faced the other way as I took off my shirt and it showed the back of my grey sports bra and it showed my dragon tattoo. It covers my whole back and then Maria smiled and replied, "What a beautiful tattoo. Who did that for you?"
I put my shirt back on and I resumed, "When me and my parents went on a trip to Night City, My Aunt Melissa who was a well-known tattoo artist in that city did the work on me for free."
"I remember you were gone for about 4 days to visit your family up there."
She nodded to her and then I nodded to her and resumed, "We should get ready. Our order should be here any time now."
Maria nodded as I gathered my deck and then I left the table and headed towards my bedroom.

In his apartment about 10 miles away from the girls place, the mall cop Aaron was enjoying some garlic chicken ramen he ordered from a nearby Japanese Restaurant at a large dining table while checking his phone. He was a single guy and still wanted to find a woman for himself, but never had any luck at doing so.
He nodded and resumed, "What a amazing dinner this was. After the long day I had, it's good to have some amazing food."
She heard ringing noises from his laptop and then he replied, "I wonder who wants to chat with me?"
He walked to his desk and sat in front of the laptop and turned in on and there was a tall blonde-haired woman wearing a white shirt and blue jean shorts and she wore glasses and she also had a beautiful tattoo of a bald eagle on her neck and her left arm was covered in a sleeve of star and flower tattoos as well and then she smiled and replied, "Good to talk to you again, Uncle Aaron."
He nodded and replied, "Kaitlyn, I'm glad to see you again. How's the World Fighter life going for you and your allies."
"Really well actually. We're enjoying every minute of it and things have slightly quieter, but that's how we like it. I heard about your encounter earlier today."
He nodded and resumed, "It was a tough one. How's the girl?"
"She'll be good. They removed her bullet from the arm and she'll be in the hospital for the next few days. How was the duel?"
"Really, really good. These two girls came and distracted the prick until she beat him with a great combo. That girl has a powerful deck."
"DId you hear the names of the girls?"
"I think they were named CIerra and Maria and it was CIerra is the one that dueled and kick that duelists ass."
She smiled and then replied, "I went to high school with a Cierra and Maria. We were close friends and I lost track of them both after we graduated high school. This may be my chance to meet them both again."
Aaron ten replied, "If you want to my opinion, she has a awesome deck and she would make a perfect member for your group, but that's just me."
"I'll keep that mind when I talk to me by boss later on. Good chatting with you and let's try to get together this weekend."
"Sounds good, kiddo. Love and miss you."
She smiled and waived as the screen went dark and he sighed and replied, "What a niece I have. She'll make anyone proud of her hard work."

The next day, we were finishing breakfast of oatmeal, fruit and a bagel for our breakfast. We wanted something simple and I was really into the breakfast. I had my deck out once again to make sure if there was anything else I can do for it. We were both still in our pajamas.
Maria saw me and she replied, "You don't have anything to worry about this deck of yours, girl. It's a beautiful and well made deck. You should be very proud of your hard work you've done with it. You might be the Dragon Master of Santo Ileso, girl. You have a great deck."
I smiled at her and I saw the Tyrant Dragon and I sighed and replied, "This was my first rare dragon monster I ever got that got me more intrested in a dragon deck. I'm so glad I was able to make such a amazing deck on my own."
Maria only nodded and they we heard knocking at our door and I walked to the door and I opened it and I saw a young woman with blonde-hair, glasses and tattoos on her neck and left arm and she smiled and replied, "Cierra and Maria, nice to see the both of you again after so long."
Maria smiled and replied, "Kaitlyn Mitchell, it's so nice to see you again."
I nodded as well and resumed, "Kaitlyn, long time, no see. Want to come in?"
She nodded as she walked in and Maria closed the door behind her and she looked around the apartment and she nodded and replied, "You both have such a beautiful place."
We smiled at her as she sat down and Maria then replied, "What's new with you, girl?"
"Quite a bit. I joined the World Fighters of Santo Ileso and I'm a Middle-Ranked Fighter now. I came here to talk with the both of a you."
"Why us of all people and how did you find us?", I asked with curious-sounding voice and then she she smiled and replied, "Remember that mall cop you helped out yesterday, Cierra?"
I nodded to her and then she resumed, "That was my Uncle Aaron and he's such a really nice guy. He told me about your win and also to say you have a beautiful dragon deck as well. I came to bring you to see if you would to visit our World Fighters HQ. My boss will like to meet the one that helped my uncle and saved that poor woman from that asshole."
Maria looked at CIerra and resumed, "You always wanted to be a World Fighter and this might be your chance of being so."
I nodded and then I looked at Kaitlyn and resumed, "We'll come with you. We have no plans for anything big today. Can you wait while we get dressed for today?"
She nodded as she got up and resumed, "I'll wait for you outside in my car. Take your time. I actually off duty today, so there is no rush. See you both outside."
We nodded as she quickly left the place and I nodded and resumed, "This is a big chance for me and I have to take it."

Outside in her car, Kaitlyn was playing with her phone while she waited patiently for us to come out.
She nodded and resumed, "What a beautiful day today."
We opened out door and we both walked down and were fully dressed and ready to go with her to her HQ building and they walked to our car and she smiled and replied, "Ready to go, ladies?"
Before we both got a chance to answer, we had a loud crashing noise and Kaitlyn then replied, "What the hell was that?"
She saw across the street there was a tall bald-head man wearing a torn-up jacket and black jeans and a duel disk on his arm slammed his hand on the door and he replied, "Open up, Cynthia! You owe me big for this!"
"I don't owe a damn thing to you! Screw off already!"
"Don't give me that bullshit, lady! I helped you get a few things you needed for your apartment and I think you owe me big for it!"
"You stole money to buy them, Dragstar! I'm turning them in tomorrow morning and tell them it was you that got them!"
"Your nothing but a fool, Cindy. I did bring you the stuff, but who will be believe you and your wacked-up story?"
"I'll believe her story, buddy!", Kaitlyn's voice yelled out with a laugh.
The guy quickly stared back at her and resumed, "Stay out of this, lady! This is between me and the lady inside!"
Kaitlyn sighed and she took a badge out and showed it to him and the guy then replied, "Damn, a World Fighter! My bestie Marky D was arrested because of that bitch of a dragon duelist!"
"Your friends with a criminal? What a surprise to me. I'll make a deal with you right here and now."
She lifted up her duel disk and resumed, "We have a duel here and now. You beat me in a duel and I'll walk away and you must leave her alone and if I win, your under arrest for theft, bribery and disturbing the peace!"
He sighed and then he resumed, "I have no damn choise, I see. I accept your challenge, lady."
She nodded and we walked to a nearby bench as they both activated their duel disks and she replied, "Before we start, what do they call you?"
"I'm known as Dragstar, lady."
""Whatever you say."
The disks shuffled their decks and then both drew 5 cards.
"Game on!", both yelled out.

"Show me what you get, lady. Take the first move."
"I will. I'll set a monster and that's my turn now."
He nodded and resumed, "I'll show you what I can do myself! I activate my Yami Field Spell first."
He slid the card the slot and it closed up as the arena turned into a arena of pure darkness and we were still be able to sit on her bench and watch the duel closely.
"I now summon my Grand Tiki Elder!"
He played the card and a strange Fiend appeared with a cackling noise (ATK: 1,500 -1 ,700).
"Attack her facedown monster with Dark Chant!"
It glowed with dark energy and a burst of dark energy shot out from its eyes like lasers and a fiery Pyro-like archer appeared on the card (DEF: 200) and the lasers cleaved through the fiery creature before it shattered into fiery red bits.
"A Fire deck I see. I end my turn now."
Kaitlyn drew a card and replied, "I activate my Mystical Space Typhoon!"
The storm began and the Field Spell vanished and returned to normal (ATK: 1,700 -1,500) summon my Blazing Inpachi!"
She played the card down and a fiery giant appeared (ATK: 1,850).
"Attack!"
The Pyro glowed as a burst of fiery embers and the attack burned it before it shattered to pieces.

Dragastar drew a card and replied, "I'll set a monster and 2 cards facedown and that's my turn now."
Kaitlyn drew a card and replied, "I summon my Molten Zombie."
She played the card and a fiery creature made of hot lava appeared (ATK: 1,600).
"Lets do it. Inpachi, attack!"
The fiery creature let out a burst of embers and a Headless Knight appeared on the card (DEF: 1,700) and he quickly replied, "I activate my Castle Walls!"
The trap appeared and the Fiend glowed (ATK: 1,700 - 2,200) fiery attack turned to small wisps of ash they struck its armor.

Dragastar drew a card and replied, "I activate my Allure of Darkness!"
She drew 2 cards and took a monster and slid it into his banished slot and resumed, "I tribute my monster to summon the mighty King of Yamimakai!"
the evil armor suit vanished and the dark evil king of darkness appeared with a snarling growl (ATK: 2,000) and he smiled and replied, "I now activate my Metaverse to get my second Yami from my deck, lady!"
He activate the other facedown card and the same Field Spell appeared again and the arena was covered in darkness.
"Destroy her Zombie!"
The demon let out a snarling noise as a huge burst of dark energy bolts shot out and pierced through the Pyro, blowing it to shards.

She drew a new card and resumed, "I'll switch my monster to defense and then I'll set a new monster facedown and that's my turn now."
Her giant knelt (DEF: 0) and then a new facedown monster and he drew a card and resumed, "I summon my Melchid the Four-Faced Beast!"
He played the card and a a strange Fiend with 4 different masks for faces appeared (ATK: 1,500 -1,700).
"Melchid, attack!"
The odd creature began to spin like crazy as it shot out and rammed through the chest of the FIend and it exploded into fiery embers & puffs of black smoke.
"Yamimakai, attack!"
The demon snarled again as two bursts of dark energy shot out and some sort of fiery Beast appeared on the card (DEF: 700) and the bolts struck it and blew it to little pieces and Kaitlyn smiled and replied, "Since you destroyed my Fencing Fire Ferret with a monster, you lose a monster and 500 damage!"
A huge burst of flames shot out and struck the huge Fiend and it snarled in pain before it finally exploded into fiery embers & small black shards.

Kaitlyn drew a card and replied, "I summon my Flamvell Grunika."
She played the card and more flames appeared (ATK: 1,700).
"Destroy his Melchid!"
The dragon glowed and Kaitlyn smiled and replied, "I'll discard my Master Craftsman Gamil to boost my dragon enough!"
She discarded the card (ATK: 1,700 - 2,000) let out a burst of flames and they shot out and slammed into the Fiend and its masks turned fiery red before it exploded into shards.

"Due to Grunika's effect, you take damage equal to your monsters level times 800!"
Four small fireballs shot out from the dragon and slammed into him.

"It's called Sinister Yorishiro and thanks to it, I don't need a tribute for my FIend monsters like my Summoned Skull!"
He played the card and the huge Fiend used by the King of Games appeared with a snarling roar (ATK: 2,500 - 2,700).
"Destroy her Dragon!"
The demon roared as a huge burst of lightning bolts shot out and slammed down onto the dragon and blew it to small red fragments.

Dragstar drew a card and resumed, "I use my trap again and Summon my Neck Hunter!"
He played the card and a strange Fiend that looked like a large purple-skinned Fiend with a single eye appeared while wielding a scythe (ATK: 1,650 - 1,850).
"Lets do this! Skull, attack!"
The demon roared as a huge burst of lightning shot out and slammed into the fiery turtle and smashed it into spare parts and fiery embers and then a 2nd UFO Turtle appeared (ATK: 1,400) and then the Fiend went and slashed at the turtle, cutting into it and blasting it to fiery pieces and then a Flamvell Dragnov appeared (ATK: 1,100).

Kaitlyn drew a card and replied, "I activate my Heaven's Lost Property!"
The spell appeared and she drew 3 cards and she saw a certain and she smiled and discarded it and a Flamvell Guard and he drew 3 cards and discarded a Feral Imp and a Dark Energy Spell Card and she resumed, "I tribute my dragon for my Thestalos the Firestorm Monarch!"
The dragon vanished into fiery embers and the mighty giant of fire appeared (ATK: 2,400) and Maria smiled and replied, "What a decent monster that is."
"One of your cards is discarded!"
One of the cards turned dark red (Which was a Earl of Demise) and he discarded it as five small fireballs shot out and slammed into him.

He played the card and the Pyro glowed with even more fire (ATK: 2,400 - 3,100).
"Destroy his Neck Hunter!'
The Pyro glowed as a huge burst of flames shot out and slammed into the demon, engulfing it in a fiery blaze and its charred scythe fell to the ground and dissolved into ash.

Dragstar drew a card and replied, "Damn it. I'll switch my Summoned Skull to defense and then I'll set a new monster and that's my turn now."
The giant Fiend knelt and covered itself with its wings (DEF: 1,200 - 1,400) as Kaitlyn drew a card and resumed, "I activate my Harpie's Feather Duster!"
The large feather glowed as a gust of wind shot and smashed the Sinister Yorishiro card and the Field Spell card to bits.
"I now summon my Great Angus!"
He played the card and the fiery tusked beast appeared with a snort-like growl (ATK: 1,800).
"Great Angus, attack!"
The Beast went in and rammed into the huge FIiend, blowing it into a pile of charred, broken bones.
"Thestalos, attack!"
The monarch glowed as a burst of flames shot out and a Gil Garth appeared on the card (DEF: 1,500) and the flames struck it and melted it into slag.
"I End my turn now."
Dragstar drew a card and replied, "I activate Silent Doom."
The spell appeared and the Gil Garth appeared (DEF: 1,500).
"I now summon my Dark Resonator!"
He played the card and the strange creature with a tune fork appeared with a sinister grin (ATK: 1,300).
"I tune my monsters together!"
The tune fork glowed as it split into 3 white stars, which turned into green rings and the rings went through the Gil Garth, which turned into 4 white stars (*3 + *4 = *7).
"I bring forth a king of evil that has the power of chaos! I Synchro Summon my Chaos King Archfiend!"
He played the card and the large Fiend with large, fiery clawed hands appeared (ATK: 2,600) and I sighed and then resumed, "Quite a monster she has there."
"Time for a battle. Destroy her Monarch!"
The Synchro quickly went in and the monarch glowed (ATK: 2,400 - 1,000) and it slashed at the Pyro across the chest and he moaned as it went down on one knew and erupted in a fiery explosion of soot & smoke.

Kaitlyn drew a card and she smiled and replied, "I tribute my Great Angus for my Flamvell Devil!"
The beast vanished in a burst of fiery embers as a Fiend of fire made of blue flames appeared (ATK: 2,100).
"I activate my Shrink!"
The spell appeared and the demon shrank down to half its size (DEF: 2,600 -1,300).
"Roast it up!"
The Fiend glowed as a huge burst of blue fireballs shot out and slammed into the Synchro, reducing to fiery cinders & ash.

"Since my large fiend did battle damage, you take damage equal to each Pyro in my graveyard times 200 and there are five of them in there!"
The demon glowed as 5 blue fireballs shot out and slammed into him.

Dragstar drew a card and replied, "You'll never beat me! I'll set a monster and that's all for me."
She drew a new card and resumed, "I summon my Flame Tiger!"
She played the card and a fiery tusked beast appeared (ATK: 1,800).
"Lets do it. Tiger, attack!"
The beast let out a burst of flames and a Morphing Jar appeared on the card (DEF: 600) and the flame attack slammed into it and smashed to dust and neithe had anything to discard so they both drew 5 cards and then resumed, "Devil, direct attack!"
The Fiend began to glow and then he resumed, "Not a damn chance! I activate my Battle Fader's effect!"
He played the card and the small Fiend appeared (DEF: 0).
"Darn it. I'll end my turn now."
He drew a new card and resumed, "I tribute my little fiend for my Caius the Show Monarch!"
The small fiend appeared as the emperor of darkness appeared (ATK: 2,400) and he pointed as a burst of black orbs shot out and struck the Fiend and it vanished into a cloud of black smoke.
"Destroy her Tiger!"
The demon glowed as burst of black shards shot out and slammed into the Beast and it let out a small roaring noise before it burst into fiery embers & puffs of black smoke.

Kaitlyn drew a card and replied, "I'll set a monster and that's all I can do."
He drew a card and resumed, "This will be mine soon! I Summon my Archfiend Soldier!"
AS he sat the card down, the demon solider appeared (ATK: 1,900).
"Time for this. Soldier, attack!"
It went in and a Neo Flamvell Sabre appeared on the card (DEF: 200) and the demon sliced with his sword, cutting the Pyro in two.
"Caius, attack!"
The demon glowed as a huge burst of dark energy shot out and slammed into her.

"I will end this next turn! Your move now, lady."
She drew a card and she smiled and replied, "This duel is already over for you, dude. I activate Rising Fire to bring out my favorite monster!"
She played the card and a huge burst of flames covered the field as a beautiful fiery bird appeared with a mighty caw (ATK: 2,400 -2,900).
"Meet the mighty Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys!"
I saw the mighty phoenix and I nodded and resumed, "Quite a strong monster you have there."
"I know it and love this card. My Spell boosts its attack power as well. I banish a Fire monster To Special Summon my Inferno!"
She took the Neo Flamvell Sabre and banished it as the firey bonfire appeared (ATK: 1,100).
"I now summon my Neo Flamvell Hedgehog!"
She played the card and a small fiery hedgehog-like Pyro appeared (ATK: 800).
"I now tune it with my Inferno!"
The small Pyro glowed as it split into 3 white stars, which turned into green rings and the rings went through the Inferno, which turned 4 white stars (*3 + *4 = *7).
"A dragon formed in the hottest of flames appears to burn away anything that threatens it! It's attacks will help it go out in a blaze of glory! Synchro Summon! Burn it up, Red Wyvern!"
She played the card and a fiery red dragon appeared (ATK: 2,400) and Maria looked puzzled and replied, "What's she up to?"
I smiled as I looked at the monster. I knew about this effect and this duel would be over soon.
"I now activate my Lucky Iron axe on your Caius."
She played it as a axe appeared in his hands and he looked puzzled and replied, "What are you up to?"
"See and find out. Since you control a monster that has more attack then my Synchro Summoned card, your monster is destroyed!"
The dragon let out a stream of flames and they shot and slammed into the Fiend and burn marks appeared on the armor before it exploded in a burst of black globules.
"Lets do this. Wyvern, attack!"

He quickly got up and replied, "Fuck that! I'm outta of here!"
SHe only sighed as 2 police cops came out (Male and a female) of the nearby apartment and Kaitlyn smiled and replied, "Meet Officers Cassie Cline and Donald Crysmen. He's all yours."
They both nodded and Dragstar looked puzzled and replied, "What the hell is this? Where where they?"
Officer Cline looked at him and replied,"We've been wanting to bust him for days. That lady you were trying to threaten was my baby sister and she called me before you even arrived, buddy! You were fooled by the best!"
He only sighed as she handcuffed him and she replied, "Come with me or else."
He only sighed as they took him away and Kaitlyn walked to where we were and replied, "You ready to head on out now, girls?"
We both nodded as we got into her car and then drove away.
