"Hmmm..." Ainz said as he got comfortable on his throne.
'No matter what happens, I will remain here for the next 24 hours so... might as well try to enjoy the game. ' Ainz thought as he grew tired of looking at the flags scatter around the room.
Each represented one of his friends that played the game with him back in the day. The flags were once a symbol of pride and triumph, a show of strength from his group who was able to conquer Yygdrasil, but now they only served to bring back memories of his past.
"I really miss those days... " Ainz whispered to himself. While everyone from the guild left the game to do other things, Ainz was unable to quit and even after going to another world, he was unable to move on from the game.
The memory of his guild base had become so ingrained in him that Ainz could not bare the thought of allowing it to be forgotten. He had to make it a reality once more.
It's not that Ainz was using Nazarick as his Domain just out of nostalgia, it was the only thing he could picture to be his Domain. That's how deep this was and that was one of the things that motivated him to create the event.
'Sitting on an empty throne in a Domain filled with copies of the former NPCs... but that's just for now. Once I get my hands on- ' Ainz heard a small clicking noise. He quickly turned his attention to the menu which suddenly popped up.
"Someone reached Shalltear already?! " Ainz thought as he knew that the notification would not have triggered if Junpei was the one who opened the door.
His eyes flashed as he saw a jujutsu sorcerer enter the boss room. The Domain had a live stream function so that Ainz could follow the moves of the players, but he didn't expect anything to happen in the first minute. "This is bad... Junpei could be in trouble if he doesn't get there in time. " Ainz said as he remembered some of the rules imposed on him by Tengen.
Ainz was bound to not communicate with anyone including his own guardians. He was able to give a few orders when he opened the Domain, but that was it. From now on, he was limited to one-way communication with the players using the missions. Not nearly good enough.
'If Junpei is not able to get his gear from Shalltear on the first layer he won't get it at all. ' Ainz thought as he placed his hand over his chin. He needed to create a mission to divert the attention from the other players and allow both Yuki and Junpei to get there while the fight was still going on.
'Something wrong here. Why are there only two people fighting Shalltear? 'Ainz moved his hand in a swiping motion to pick another screen. He chose the last teammate of Hakari's group.
Ainz saw Kirara crouched down on the floor yawning. 'Is she a support or maybe... ' That was when Ainz noticed a weird mark on the door leading to the boss room. 'Is she rigging the entrance?! Are they planning to delay everyone on the first layer?! ' Ainz thought as he tried to figure out their next move.
The feed changed from the fight to a room full of cockroaches. Ainz saw three curse users staring down Kyouhukou, one of the weaker NPCs that he had recreated on the second layer.
Ainz grabbed the armrests on his throne and got up in a swift motion. With his jaw opened and a flustered voice he said, "They are on the- " Before Ainz could finish the sentence Kyohukou got hit with a powerful cursed energy blast killing him instantaneously. "A team got the second layer?! HOW?! " Ainz felt his emotions calm down as his body emitted a green light.
The undead slowly sat back on his throne. "Of course... how could I have forgotten about it... " Ainz immediately placed his hand in his inventory and pulled the master copy of the invitations he had given to everyone.
"I have to counter them immediately. " Ainz thought as he opened the invitation and started writing the first mission.
Team Uro
Uro and the others began the game in a very bad position. They were the ones who were the furthest away from the boss room and the labyrinth portion they found themselves in was particularly tricky.
They were in a special area of the first layer, that place was actually one big loop with a single path leading back to the rest of the labyrinth. Meaning that the team was essentially cut off from the game and they were fated to stay that way for a good time.
Upon looping around the same area a few times, Ishigori got impatient. He was completely bored with the curses that should up to stop him since he didn't even need to do anything to exorcise them. Just a backhanded slap was enough to kill even the more dangerous-looking ones.
It was when his mind was about to check out until something fun happened that he got an idea. He jumped ahead of the group and stepped into an obvious trap. 'Let's hope the surprise they got is interesting. ' Ishigori thought as he prepared to tank whatever attack came his way.
But, he didn't know that he ended up triggering a special trap that teleported them to the second layer. This was a massive finding for them, but since there was no way to know whether they were sent to a new layer Uro misunderstood the situation.
"You fucking idiot !" Uro screamed at Ishigori who simply covered his ears. He rolled his eyes while trying to not pay any attention to the meltdown that was about to happen.
"Why did you step on that thing? I told you something looked off. Now look at where we are " Uro complained as she started to float so that she could avoid the cockroaches on the floor.
Ishigori looked at the small creature with disgust before he turned back to his teammate. "Nothing was happening and we were walking in circles, but now we are in a different place. We escaped that part of the labyrinth, right old man? " Ishigori said as he looked at Dhruv who just stood there with a blank expression.
Uro closed her fist and tried to punch him. "See. He agrees. " Ishigori said with a smile while trying to avoid the attack. Uro's fist missed him but ended up crushing a few cockroaches because of the wind pressure.
"Look at what you did to the little ones. " They heard a voice say.
Uro immediately turned to the source which turned out to be somewhere under a huge amount of cockroaches. "An inteligent curse? " She used her sky manipulation technique to push the bugs toward the walls.
"That's one big bug. " Ishigori said as he prepared his cursed technique. "Tell me are you a guardian? "
The huge cockroach shook its head before revealing itself. Its size was comparable to a tall human and it wore a fancy red cape complemented with a golden crown and scepter.
"I am not I'm- "
"Then I don't care. " Ishigori said releasing his Granite Blast toward the curse. Kyouhukou was unable to reveal his name before being mercilessly attacked. He tried to move out of the way while casting a defensive spell.
The other cockroaches tried to help by tanking the attack. They created a shield with their bodies to protect their father, but the damage was simply too much.
Granite Blast was known for being the highest output of cursed energy in jujutsu history and it showed. The attack tore through the curses and Kyohukou in the blink of an eye.
"Alright. Time to find an actual guardian. " Ishigori said as he saw a door appear on the wall behind him.
"It's not over yet. " The remaining cockroaches said in unison. Kyohukou's headless body got up. He tried his best to stay up while pointing his arms at the invaders.
"I- " Kyohukou was interrupted yet again, but this time it was Dhruv's turn. He summoned his shikigami, a huge white whale, which immediately swallowed his enemy.
The shikigami quickly turned to the other bugs and started devouring them. "Well... I don't want to fucking see this. I'm out. " Ishigori said with a disgusted face as he turned to the door.
Uro quickly floated away while covering her mouth. The crunching noises were starting to affect her. "Can you not do this?! " She asked Dhruv who continued to stare at his shikigami's snack.
"It's no use this geezer lives in his own world. " Ishigori said as he opened the door and walked outside. He saw more of the same skeletons he had fought before and, if not for the fact that they were wearing armor now, Ishigori wouldn't have figured out something was up.
Uro came outside and saw the undead getting destroyed by Ishigori's slaps. ' At least they seem different. ' Uro thought as she noticed they had armor. She quickly moved to finish off the remaining enemies.
By the time Dhruv walked outside there was nothing, but a bunch of bones on the floor. "Let's go this way. " Uro said before Ishigori quickly started walking forwards.
While the undead looked a bit different from before, the ceiling, walls, and floor looked pretty much the same. Which meant they were in the same situation they were in before.
Uro quickly floated to Ishigori and grabbed his shoulder. "If you trigger another trap again I'm- " She was about to use her cursed energy when the invitation sent out a small high-pitched sound.
"What was that? " Both Uro and Ishigori said causing Uro to just ignore the invitation and continue to put he teammate on blast.
Team Kashimo
Kashimo was officially the worst leader inside the Domain. The moment he got teleported he decided to act alone causing a huge breakdown in his team.
Manami and Toshihisa were left behind without the invitation which caused them to miss any possible rules updates or missions.
That, however, was the least of their concerns. They were a last pick from Geto and by no means they were strong enough to attempt the game.
The original plan was to just cruise by with Kashimo, who Geto had assured was a special grade, until they could find a chance to get to Ainz.
The corridors were wider and longer than everywhere else in the labyrinth which gave a huge advantage over the weak skeletons. As long as they were not surrounded they could easily destroy the undead and move forward.
"If we don't find them we won't be able to bring Geto back. " Manami said as she grew impatient.
Her teammate shook his head and said, "I don't care about that. We're not gonna get close to the deeper layers anyway. "
"What did you just say? You don't care? " Manami said while trying to contain her anger. He quickly grabbed Toshihisa and pushed him against the wall. "You don't care about Master Geto?! "
Toshihisa was about to respond when he saw that Manami's eyes were full of tears. He hesitated for a moment before replying, "My goal here is to just impede the jujutsu sorcerers. Getting whatever took over Geto's body back is not my priority. "
Manami immediately slapped his face. The high pitch noise echoed throughout the labyrinth. She was about to slap him again when she heard a few steps.
Both of them prepared their bodies and mind for a battle, but before they could see the person they heard an old voice saying, "Hello, there. "
Toshihisa initially took a step forward and answered, "Who's there? "
"I'm the granny, Ogami. We met before the game, remember? " The voice said making both Toshihisa and Manami calm down a bit.
They had memorized the people and the curses they had seen before entering in case an opportunity to group up showed up.
Team Kashimo (Kashimo not included) and Team Granny were the first two teams to meet up if you don't count the run-in with Jogo and the Zennin. They quickly started discussing the paths they took and the general direction of where they should go.
Nothing new or out of the ordinary had happened to any of them. Team Granny also fought against the local curses without much difficulty and they were now trying to get a good idea of where they should head next.
"I see... so the other one took off on his own with the invitation... " The granny shook her head before continuing, "So you don't know about the mission update. "
"Mission? What mission? " Manami asked.
The granny pulled out the invitation and opened it on page five. There they found a new passage saying.
Last for ten minutes on your current layer.
Reward: map with the simplified layout of the first and second layers.
"A map? He's offering a map? " Toshihisa said. The whole point of a labyrinth is to keep people back. The fact that Ainz was offering a shortcut like that for such a low price didn't make sense to the young curse user who was left confused.
"You find it strange? " Ogami said while she chuckled a bit.
"Why would you give a map for a labyrinth. Especially since it's very likely that it's gonna take more than five minutes for us to find the guardian. He's giving the map for free basically." Manami said in a calm and collected voice.
"That's not what's really important though. " The Granny responded. "Read it once more. Slowly."
Manami rolled her eyes at the request of the curse user, but something about the way she spoke piqued Manami's curiosity. She slowly read the message but found no problem with it at first.
Manami was about to give up after the third time reading when it finally clicked for her. "Last for ten minutes on your current layer... current?! " She initially understood the danger.
"Someone must be on layer two right now. " Granny said in an ominous voice.
Team Hakari
"You're very good a dodging! " Shalltear said as her spear narrowly missed Hakari. The jujutsu sorcerer quickly jumped to her side and attacked. Hakari, however, wasted the opportunity and just slapped her shoulder.
[Time Accelerator]
Shalltear quickly followed Hakari to his landing spot. She had a smug expression on her face while the spear was making its way to where Hakari was about to land.
Hakari decided to fall down instead of leading. He turned in mid-air and when he was about to hit his face on the floor he pushed his arms outward. He then used his hands to touch the floor and pushed himself forward resulting in a dolphin dive which allowed him to dodge the follow-up downward thrust Shalltear used.
The spear hit the floor lifting a few loose stones and dust into the air. Hakari quickly spun mid-air and gave landed on his feet, he had a huge smug smile on his face causing Shalltear to grit her teeth. "You-"
Shalltear was unable to finish her sentence when she saw Hakari tracing his fingers through his hair. He then moved his head backward while taking a deep and with a snappy motion, he entered his fighting stance once more. "Is that all? " Hakari said with the same arrogant intonation that Shalltear was using.
Three veins appeared on Shalltear's forehead. A red aura appeared around her as she pulled the spear from the ground and jumped to Hakari.
Hakari answered with a jump of his own. He met the guardian halfway and with an open stance he moved to dodge the spear once more.
Shalltear, however, was so pissed that she didn't even care about it anymore. With a powerful and predictable lunge, she drove the spear into Hakari's chest...or at least that was the plan.
Instead of coming out victorious, she was completely baited by Hakari who immediately stopped before snapping his fingers.
'What is this?! ' Shalltear thought as a pair of doors appeared trapping her in place. Hakari then circled around her spear and delivered a dropkick to her head.
Shalltear was thrown to the side after the doors disappeared. Hakari was able to time it so that both of these events happened simultaneously causing the guardian to become even more frustrated.
'This... Humiliation... ' Shalltear thought as she plunged the spear deep into the ground. "That was a good trick, but you'll need to do actual damage to win. " She said after using the spear to break her fall.
Hakari winked at Shalltear which made her frown her eyebrows. She was about to ask what the hell he was doing when Hakari simply turned the side of his head toward her.
Shalltear unconsciously focused her attention on her own head for a second. That was when she finally felt a worm liquid running down her face.
"Blood?! " Shalltear said after she placed her finger on it.
[Summor Household]
Multiple creatures appeared from her shadow as she used her hand clean her face. 'Shikigami from her shadows? Is that like Megumi's cursed technique?! ' Hakari thought as he glanced at Inumaki.
"Inumaki! " Hakari said as he pointed to the jujutsu sorcerer.
"Salmon. " Inumaki said before he released his cursed technique.
[DIE]
Inumaki's scream carried a powerful curse, the target of his speech suffered whatever fate he said. Death included.
All the allies Shalltear summoned blew up after hearing Inumaki's voice which caused the vampire princess to look straight at him. 'He killed them with his voice? '
Hakari snapped his fingers causing Shalltear to focus on him again. "I don't like when my dance partner looks like that to another man. I get jealous. "
Shalltear completely ignored him and went after Inumaki. Hakari ran to where Shalltear was and just stood there with his fighting stance ready.
'That insect is predictable, if I bring my armor I can beat him easily, but this support ability the other has will complicate the fight too much. He's the priority-' Shalltear's thought process was interrupted when she felt a huge push coming from Inumaki.
Before she was able to get too close to the jujutsu sorcerer she was somehow pushed back in the opposite direction she was going. Shalltear placed her spear on the floor and used it to pull herself forward, but for some reason, she was thrown back with an even more powerful force than before.
Hakari, who knew that was gonna happen, had ample time to prepare. He immediately punched Shalltears back causing her to stop in mid-air.
'I can't get close to him?! ' Shalltear thought as she felt a sharp pain coming from her back. She coughed up some blood before Hakari got another hit in.
One, two, three punched to the back. Shalltear swang her spear randomly while she spun around forcing Hakari to grab her arm. He then followed with three jabs to her face.
[Negative Impact Shield]
Shalltear created a shield that slammed right into Hakari pushing him back to the door. She then quickly turned to Inumaki and used another skill.
[Purifying Javelin]
She created an energy-based javelin and threw it at Inumaki who instead of dodging or blocking just stood there. When the attack got a certain distance from him the Javelin suffered the same fate as Shalltear and was pushed backward.
The skill went toward Shalltear who simply used her spear to smash the attack which destroyed the Javelin. "I can't attack either?! " She asked while trying to understand the situation.
"I got a little greedy. " Hakari said as he walked back to the center of the room. He had blood dripping from his back and his right arm was twitching a bit. "Thanks for the wake-up call. I was fighting on autopilot until now. "
Shalltear had her eyes wide open while grinding her teeth against each other. "What is going on here? " The fact that she took a few punches to the face didn't matter much to her. The damage was small and she could always get serious at any time bringing her armor into the mix.
What truly upset her was the fact that she didn't understand what happened. She not only got countered but also wasted two skills to set up an attack on Inumaki, someone whose power she didn't want to deal with.
"You're confused? I understand. My babe's power is a little bit too much for small brains like you to comprehend. " Hakari said while he massaged his right shoulder.
"It's a constellation or something like that. I don't understand it too well either, but basically, you have to follow the order of the seals." Hakari said as he snapped his fingers.
The doors appeared once again, but this time Shalltear simply attacked them with her spear making them disappear. "Order of the seal?! What do you mean?! " Shalltear asked.
Hakari gave a big smile while looking down at Shalltear. He placed his hand on his left shoulder and said, "The one I placed on you a few minutes ago."
Shalltear initially turned to her shoulder where she saw a little star on her clothing. "You're Gacrux. " Hakari said as he pulled his jacket off him revealing another start on his shirt.
"I'm Acrux. That means we attract each other. " Hakari said making Shalltear even more confused than before. She quickly turned to Hakari and while pointing her hand she used a spell.
[Maximaze Magic: Vermillion Nova]
A pillar of fire engulfed Hakari who immediately covered himself with cursed energy. The flames were so hot that Inumaki had to take a step backward to not get burned.
When the flames disappeared Hakari had burns all over his body. His shirt and pants had huge holes where he failed to protect himself and the tips of his hair were on fire.
"I'm done with this bullshit. " Shalltear said after taking a deep breath. A red beautiful armor appeared around her and she opened two pairs of wings.
"I'm not playing this game anymore. Just die. " Shalltear said with a calm and collected voice as she pointed her palm to him once again.
Team Yuta
Maki was carrying three civilians on her back while Yuta ran ahead clearing the curses. They had already read the new mission from Ainz and they decided to clear it.
"Knowing Gojo. He's just gonna ignore it, but if we get a good map we might be able to catch up to him. " That was Yuta's reasoning or at least that was what he said to his teammates.
The truth was that he was worried about the regular people that got caught inside the Domain. 'Ainz didn't say anything about it, but just like Gojo's Domain, this Domain can probably kill non-sorcerers just by exposure. '
Maki, however, was not excited to leave her sword with Ieri, the jujutsu sorcerer's medic. Mai had given the rest of her strength to recreate that blade and not having it felt like a betrayal to her.
Still, they had no way but to continue forward. Maki wasn't about to leave Yuta down just because of something so minor and she was worried about whoever was in the lead.
Ieri, on the other hand, had a lot of work cut out for her. She was the only non-combatant in the Domain. Originally, her only job was to heal as many people as she could while trying to stall the other players.
If everything went according to plan, either Gojo's team or Hakari's team will be waiting for her on the second layer where Yuta will go on to the deeper layers leaving her and Maki to join the other jujutsu sorcerers and create a barricade for the curses.
Since someone was actually able to get to the second layer so fast, she was pretty confident that Team Gojo was the one responsible, but the nagging feeling that she was wrong kept her from relaxing.
"What if a curse was the one that crossed to the second layer? " Ieri tried to point out during the discussion, but both Maki and Yuta turned down that possibility.
'There's something more going on behind this mission. ' Ieri thought as she did her best to keep up with her two other teammates.
Team Jogo and Team Zennin
The fight became an air assault where both of the teams would jump toward each other while delivering multiple strikes.
Jogo was the only one who could walk on lava while taking little to no damage and thus was the most capable of causing damage. He created plenty of shikigamis to track down the jujutsu sorcerers, but the fact that his teammate, Grasshopper, insisted on trying to fight them one on one caused Jogo to not use all of them.
'Just attack anyone and kill the idiot. ' That was Jogo's first thought, but even if he did that at least one of the jujutsu sorcerers would survive and account for their speed... 'They could exorcise Dagon if I'm not careful. ' Jogo thought as he looked at the other cursed spirit.
Dagon was really feeling the heat inside that room. While he was special grade just like Jogo, he had nowhere near the same resistance to fire as his teammate had and thus was trying his best to avoid touching the lava.
The fight was pretty much a stalemate at this point and no one was able to do much more than just a few minor attacks until Grasshopper made a mistake. He jumped on the ceiling and used one of his arms to grab on while attacking with the others.
No different from what they were doing normally. Naoya responded by doing the same, but since he was human and had only two arms Grasshopper would be able to land multiple punches before Naoya could even do anything.
This time, however, Naobito took advantage of the tunnel vision of his opponent. Naoya left himself open to Grasshopper which caused the curse to focus even more intently allowing Ogi to attack Jogo directly while Naobito went after Dagon.
Jogo quickly dodged the blade and used his shikigami to strike him, but Ogi quickly reacted slashing every single one of them before they could explode.
[Falling Blossom Emotion]
Ogi said as all the shikigami fell down. He used his cursed technique to create a fire whip attached to his katana and with a swift strike he used the flames to push himself back to the ceiling.
"Another fire technique?! " Jogo screamed as he threw a fireball at Ogi only for the sword to cut the flames in half.
Jogo jumped after Ogi determined to kill him, but from the corner of his eyes, he saw Grasshopper beating Naoya. That was a good thing, he was keeping one of them busy, but when he saw that Naoya's expression was neutral Jogo felt something was off.
'Is he getting hit... just because he wants? What-' Jogo's eyes widen as he turned his head to Dagon.
"Dagon! " Jogo screamed as he saw Naobito ora ora Dagon into the wall. The sea curse could do nothing but block the occasional punch. The speed and power made it impossible for Dagon to escape the flurry of punches.
Jogo immediately turned back at Ogi who was completely ready for a counterattack, but instead of continuing on course, Jogo used his flames to propel him backward just like Ogi had done.
"Naobito! Naoya! Now! " Ogi screamed as he covered his sword with fire. He jumped toward the exit and slashed through the small pound of lava that blocked the path.
Naoya quickly used his hand to propel himself to the exit and Naobito threw Dagon into the lava before doing the same.
Within a few moments, Team Zennin left the room leaving the curses behind.
"You're not escaping. " Grasshopper said as he jumped after the jujutsu sorcerers.
Jogo snapped his fingers making the lava harden. Dagon fell to the ground before Jogo was able to get to him. "Dagon... " Jogo said as he saw his teammate a few inches from being exorcising.
"Damn those... those... Grasshopper, you idiot! " Jogo was about to explode with anger until he felt his invitation release a cursed energy burst.
"What is this? " Jogo grabbed the invitation and read the new entry. "Oh no! Get up Dagon we have to go! " Jogo screamed as he pulled the curse to his back and started running.
Team Gojo
While killing a bunch of curses didn't take much of his concentration, keeping his whereabouts certainly did. Gojo asked Nobara to read the update.
"Last for ten minutes on your current layer.
Reward: map with the simplified layout of the first and second layers.
" Nobara read the new entry.
"Oh no. " Gojo said increasing his speed even further causing both Nobara and Megumi to scream in horror. "Someone made it to the next layer. We have to go kids. "
Team Yuki
Yuki turned to the right. She was taking a lot longer to find the guardian than she expected. Junpei followed right behind her as best as he could.
After reading the update she understood what it meant. 'You have to hurry up. ' That was what Ainz wanted to tell her.
Junpei was also aware of that fact. He not only lost the special armor Ainz had selected for him and the disadvantages were gonna pile up even higher the more it took for him to cross to the second layer.
That was what was going through his mind when they turned a corner right into Yaga's team who were a few meters dead ahead. "Shit. This way! " Yuki said.
Yuki immediately stopped and took a side path followed by Junpei, but before he could catch up with Yuki one of the Yaga's cursed dolls cut them off and grabbed Junpei.
Junpei immediately used his shikigami to push away the cursed doll.
Yuki was so far away from Junpei that one turn to the wrong side would cause them to become separated."Hurry Junpei. The door is this way. " Yuki's voice echoed as she ran as fast as she could.
"Yuki! " Junpei screamed as he tried his best to not lose her.
"Goddamnit. They are getting away. " Yaga said before taking off.
"That was Yuki... what is she doing here?! I thought the rules said that she couldn't be a player! " Utahime said while trying to figure out what Yuki had on her back.
"Whatever it was she's not gonna have it for long. Let's go. " Yaga said as he took a shortcut to where Yuki ran to.
Yaga was one of the few constants who could use his technique to gain some knowledge on the labyrinth layout, so he could easily follow someone if they ran in a direction that he already mapped out.
"Shouldn't we find the way to the second layer though? " Takuma Ino, the first-grade candidate, said.
"We have Gojo, Yuta, and Hakari for reasons like that, but since they don't know about Yuki it's best if we figure out what she's doing here. Understood?! " Yaga said as he continued to run ahead.
"Understood." They both said in unison.
Team Hakari
Hakari was winning in the close-range exchanges. At least that was what he thought.
The moment he got hit with that spear he didn't register what happened to her wounds, but something told him that what he thought happened did in fact happen. 'That cursed tool heals her when she hits me. ' Hakari thought.
He was having a hard time devising a strategy for this fight. After having Inumaki use his cursed speech for support and attacking with physical strikes when he could, Shalltear would heal almost completely from just poking him a few times.
'How can I win this? If I get too close she heals if I get away she uses her cursed technique to pound me from a distance.'
[Hold Species]
Shalltear used a spell to hold Hakari down while she went for another spell. 'What is this?' Hakari thought as he saw her preparing another attack.
[Implosion]
Hakari quickly punched the magic circle that surrounded him, but he was unable to escape Hold Species. Implosion hit him a few moments causing his internal organs to be squeezed like a lemon.
He knew that there was no way to block the damage completely, he simply didn't have enough cursed energy to do so. Luckily for him, most of the effects were concentrated on his torso where he had chosen to focus his cursed energy.
'Again?! ' Shalltear thought as she saw Hakari cough up blood. The jujutsu sorcerer attacked the magic circle holding him down and after a few punches, he started running to her. 'Every time he's about to suffer critical damage that blueish aura protects him just right. '
Shalltear opened her wings before flying after Hakari. 'This is bad... I'm starting to lose consciousness. ' Hakari thought as his vision became blurred.
'She can use fire, create shikigami from her shadows, stop me with that weird circle thingy... I-' Hakari thought.
He was fighting her for a few minutes already, but it was painfully clear that he couldn't beat this curse without his Domain. 'Why did idiot have to block Domains...'
Shalltear thrust her spear to attack Hakari. The jujutsu sorcerer tried to get out of the way, but before he could do anything Inumaki screamed.
[Freeze]
Immediately after Shalltear stopped moving which gave Hakari an opening. He hit her with two hooks before retreating. 'Only two punches?! ' Hakari thought as he looked at Shalltear.
The guardian recovered her ability to move, but instead of just rushing in she simply stretched her neck a bit and spat out some blood. 'If this was this beginning of the fight you could have gotten what? 6 or 5 punches... you're slowing down. ' Shalltear said as she opened her palm and pointed at Hakari.
"Oh shit. " Hakari said as he prepared for the worst. He quickly glanced at Inumaki who was on the floor coughing up a lot of blood.
'You did good, Inumaki. Leave the rest for me. ' Hakari thought as he placed his right hand in front of his body.
Shalltear tilted her head before saying, "Is that some sort of final attack? Do you still think you have a chance? " She said while trying to hold back her laughter.
"You're gonna die here, huma- "
"You're a reall bitch did you know that? " Hakari said with his smug smile interrupting the guardian. Shalltear dropped the act and immediately pointed her palm to Hakari once more.
Hakari did an ok sign with his right hand before placing it over his open right hand. 'Ainz blocked Domain Expansion... that was what Yaga told me... ' Hakari thought as he looked at Inumaki trying to stand up.
'That's not true at all.' Hakari thought. He focused his cursed energy and prepared for his attack. 'I read the damn rules myself. It just says that he will crack the Domain... the question is how long until he breaks it? ' Hakari started walking toward Shalltear.
'Using tenth-tier spells will work, but he's got some kind of luck going on here. I have to be more thorough to make sure he dies.' Shalltear thought before looking at her other opponent. 'This one is already half dead somehow. Backlash from his technique, maybe?'
[Purifying Javelin]
Shalltear created another Javelin and prepared to throw it. "As soon after I kill you I'll figure out what the hell is going on with me not being able to get close to that human over there. Wait, I remember now... you said something about your babe's technique right? " Hakari glanced toward the door which made Shalltear smile.
"She's outside?" Shalltear started laughing. "Don't worry, after we're done here I'll take really good care of her. " Shalltear touched her face while looking at the door for a moment before turning her attention back to Hakari.
[Aim up]
Shalltear pulled her arm back and threw the attack, but instead of going straight at Hakari the Javelin went to the ceiling. "What?! " Shalltear screamed. She immediately turned to Inumaki who had just lost conciseness and was about to hit the ground.
"I knew I could count on you Inumaki. " Hakari said as he finally stopped walking.
He was now a few meters from Shalltear who immediately jumped toward him. "What do you think you can do? You're half dead already. " Shalltear said as she prepared and pierced Hakari's chest with her spear.
"I'm gonna do what I always do. I'm gonna bet. " Hakari screamed as he used his final attack.
[Domain Expansion: Idle Death Gamble]
Hakari's Domain is the fastest in modern history. The sure hit effect happens immediately after activation and since there is not meant to damage his opponent, Shalltear got hit with it.
All the rules of Hakari's Domain were explained to Shalltear in a single moment. She stood still for a second before blinking a few times.
The surroundings formed a few moments later. Shalltear found herself inside a void with a few pachinko machines around her. "What type of spell is this? " Shalltear said. While she knew how the ability worked, she couldn't believe something like that could exist.
Hakari threw a small ball toward Shalltear before falling to the ground. The ball was initially black, but after leaving Hakari's hand it turned golden.
Friday Night Final Train Riichi.
The Domain turned into a train station. Shalltear saw a young man running up a flight of stairs. "I'm not letting that happen. " She flew to the man and stabbed him with her spear.
But even with the spear inside him, the man just kept running. "Attacking does nothing? " Shalltear was confused yet again.
She flew once more, but this time she went over to Hakari. Shalltear tried piercing him with her spear, but when the weapon touched Hakari's body it didn't go through. "I can't attack him either?! "
'So those things that flashed in my mind were true. ' Shalltear thought as she finally accepted that she would need to watch the event take place.
The Domain's walls started cracking a bit, but the event continued strong. The man ran up the stairs only to see the final train leave. "Ha ha ha ha. It's over now. " Shalltear said as she looked over at Hakari who was bleeding on the floor.
Huge cracks appeared on the walls and some of the Domains started caving in. Shalltear then pulled her spear and left it hanging over his body. "It finally- "
Shalltear stopped talking when she heard a few steps climbing the staircase at the far end of the station. She saw a young woman and the man met. "No way."
Hakari's body started pulsating with a great amount of cursed energy just before the Domain was broken taking them both back to the real world. Shalltear pierced Hakari with her spear as soon as she could, but the cursed energy didn't subside.
Hakari's body healed all the damage from the fight as a peculiar song started playing. He then spun around on the floor with the spear still inside his body making Shalltear stab him multiple times.
Every time she pulled the spear back Hakari's body healed the damage almost immediately. 'I can't believe a human has better regeneration than me.' Shalltear thought as Hakari finally gained enough leverage to jump away from her.
He then slowly got up, posed, snapped his fingers, and grabbed his crotch. All of that before turning to Shalltear and saying, "Start the music! "
