Chapter 35
New Dangers
Far away in another part of the Digital World, Matadormon located an isolated area where he could test out the power of the Onimon mask. Standing alone in an empty valley of sand and old ruins, the dark warrior looked around for something to use.
"Ah, that will do!" he stated upon seeing an intact statue of a four-legged animal, which resembled a large dog or cat.
"Now then, let's see what you can do." Opening the chest, Matadormon placed the mask on the face of the statue. He waited to see what would happen. But nothing did.
"Hmm, something should have-" he was saying when the ground started to shake. Looking at the statue, Matadormon saw the mask release a dark-like swirl of energy that surrounded the statue. Surrounded by the swirling mist of dark energy, the statue grew in size, and then a deep growl was heard as well, which made the warrior step back.
He watched as the mist slowly evaporated and disappeared, revealing a large-looking Digimon that Matadormon had never seen. Its body was colored black, with purple and red highlights. On its front and back legs were spiked armor pads. The tail ended in a flame that burned dark purple, and the head was nightmarish; two large horns pointed out from the top, and two rows of sharp and deadly teeth filled the mouth. The eyes glowed red, and a mix of white and purple fur covered the rest of the face.
"So this is an Onimon! Impressive!" Matadormon stated as he took in this creature's power.
At first, the horned Digimon didn't move or even notice Matadormon, until the flames died down. Then he turned and looked upon him.
"What is your will, my Master?" it said in a deep voice while kneeling before Matadormon.
Saying nothing at first, the dark warrior thought carefully about what to reply. Then he spoke.
"First of all, by serving me, you also serve my Master Daemon. And second-" he was saying but stopped when he felt someone calling to him.
"Hmm, I wonder what this is about?" Turning to the Onimon, Matadormon created a dark portal, then had the creature follow him through it.
(Trade Town)
Suzie's group finally emerged from the long forest, after flying and walking through it for almost two days. They found themselves in a town located at the edge of the forest. There were many types of Digimon walking around, all of whom were in shock at seeing two Mega-leveled types among them. Their partners noticed this as well as they walked through the streets.
"Gee, you think these Digimon had never seen a Mega before," Lopmon noted to the others, who agreed with her.
"Yeah, I see it too," Valkryimon added as a group of young Digimon came up to them. One appeared to be newly born, and they bounced up and down excitedly.
"Excuse me, but are you really a Mega-level Digimon?" a red baby-type asked.
"That is correct young one. But shouldn't you and your fellow newborns be with a caretaker?" the winged warrior replied.
"Ah ha. There you young ones are!" A new voice shouted as the group looked to see a large half-human, half-horse Digimon approach them.
"I swear, you young ones always run off, without thinking of your actions. But you won't this...?" Centaurmon was saying this when he noticed the three humans and Digimon before him.
"Oh sorry, I didn't notice you there...oh my, it's not often we see two Mega's around here."
"So we've noticed. I take it you're the guardian of these newborns?" Leopardmon asked.
"I am indeed. I'm Centaurmon, these young ones are from Primary Village. They hatched not too long ago, and it was my turn to look after them."
"I see, well it's nice to meet you. My companions and I are on a mission. Have you seen any other humans around?" Lopmon said next.
"I have actually. A few days ago I helped the DigiDestined and their new allies on a mission to free a large area from the Emperor's control."
Hearing this got Suzie and her siblings excited.
"Do you know where they are now?" Jaarin questioned but saw Centaurmon shake his head at her.
"I wish I knew. They're most likely off somewhere in another area."
"Centaurmon, it's important that we speak with my brother Henry and his friends. We have news from the Digimon Sovereign," Rinchel exclaimed earnestly.
"D-D-DID YOU JUST SAY THE DIGI-"he was saying only to have Valkyrimon cover his mouth.
"Yes, he did. Listen I know this news must be big to you. But it's a secret."
Nodding to this, Centaurmon apologized for shouting. Jaarin got angry at her brother for speaking about the big four out loud. Rinchel lowered his head and apologized.
"Let's head back to Primary Village, and you can tell me all about this," said Centaurmon.
The group accepted his offer and headed off away from town. But they were unaware that someone had overheard their conversation, and then snuck off to another part of town, where he found some other seedy-looking Digimon.
"Contact LadyDevimon, and tell her to meet me at Primary Village," the agent said to the group, then left to follow Suzie's group.
(Hidden Valley)
After finishing their meal at Deramon's restaurant, the large group headed back into town, where they enjoyed more of the festival. As they played some of the games, Mimi was still processing the information that the Tamers told her and Michael earlier.
"So the question is, if Digimon exist where you are from, how is there Digital World different from this one?" Mimi asked, who was curious, as were Palmon, Michael, and Betamon
"Well that's a long story, but we're going to give the short version for now," Ryo answered as he told them about how Digimon live in the other Digital World, and about the different levels and areas they saw during their first trip.
Mimi was quiet as she heard this. It sounded like a harsher place. She was glad to hear not all Digimon there are mean-spirited as Henry spoke of those they met and befriended.
Once Ryo was done, he showed the four his D-ARC next. He explained how it works with the data reader and compass. Then he showed them some of the cards he brought along.
They were amazed by some of the cards they saw.
"Wow, there's so many, and look there's me as Lilymon," Palmon exclaimed in excitement as seeing her Ultimate form.
"I agree, these cards are cool," Michael noted. "And I take it yours are like his?" he asked Takato, Henry, Rika, and Jeri who nodded yes to him. Then they talked about some of their encounters with wild Digimon.
(Present Time)
"Even though they are different from us. Ryo's friends are similar as they fight to protect their families and homes," Mimi thought as she finished playing her game with Jeri and Takato.
After getting their prizes, the three walked over to the booth where Yolei, Henry, and Michael were at. They were playing a ring toss-style game, where the prizes were a variety of different items. One of them was an egg-shaped object, with a ninja throwing star beneath it, and a familiar-looking symbol on it.
"That looks like the Crest of Sincerity!" Mimi exclaimed in shock.
"But then that means, it must be a Digi Armor Egg. And it's for one of us!" Yolei said next as she was determined to win it.
Sadly all her throws missed, due to putting too much strength into them. Yolei feel defeated at this loss. Then she saw all of Henry's rings land together onto the pole she had tried to get.
"How?" she asked.
"It's all about patience, and how much effort you put into it," Henry answered as he asked for the egg. After the Gekkomon gave it to him, he then handed it to Yolei.
"Uh, thanks, Henry. I don't know what to say," she said looking dumbfounded.
"You could say thank you," Michael suggested, which she did afterward.
"It's no problem, besides that's what friends are for," he added with a smile. Seeing this made Yolei blush which was a surprise for her.
"Okay, what the heck is this I'm feeling?" Yolei wondered as she nearly dropped the egg, but was able to catch it.
"You okay Yolei?" Hawkmon asked.
"...huh oh yeah. I'm okay Hawkmon," she replied, trying to look calm.
"That was weird, why did I do that?" the tall girl thought as she decided to sit down for a bit.
(Primary Village)
Blinking in shock, Suzie and her siblings looked at different items around the area. There were large, plastic toys that were set up as buildings. In one area, there were trees filled with different kinds of toys, instead of fruit or seeds. And beneath them were many types of eggs, all colored in different ways, and with various shapes on them.
"This place looked like something from a children's book!" the three siblings thought at the same time.
Behind them, their partners were also amazed at this place. It was very different from how DigiEggs were kept back home.
"Sorry to keep you waiting. I had some trouble getting the kids to settle down," Centaurmon said to the group as he approached them.
"That's quite alright. I know how you feel," Lopmon said as she remembered the times Suzie played with her.
"I would ask you six to wait for now. I sent for someone to join us, as this matter concerns him as well. Till then, feel free to relax."
Agreeing to this, the six decided to use their time wisely. Rinchel and Leopardmon rested underneath a tree.
Jaarin decided to check out the cards given to her earlier. Suzie stayed with her, in case her older sister had questions about the cards. Lopmon and Valkryimon sat nearby as they watched the two.
At first, Jaarin was able to recognize a few of the cards. But certain types were another matter. Luckily Suzie was able to help her out, by remembering what Henry had told her.
"You have attack cards which are these ones." Suzie showed her a card that had a picture of Zudomon. "Swiping it through your D-Arc will allow your partner to use both the attack and weapons of said Digimon."
"I see, and what about these ones?" her sister asked next, showing her the other cards.
This lesson went on for the next twenty minutes. Then Centaurmon returned, but both girls saw he wasn't alone. As they saw an older-looking man in a white coat, accompanied by a small pink Digimon with wings.
"Are these the ones you spoke of?" Piximon asked.
"That's correct. These humans and their partners said they have news from the Sovereign," Centaurmon responded.
"I see...You wouldn't happen to be friends of Ryo Akiyama, would you?" Gennai wondered as he looked at the two girls.
"I am sir, although though my brother knows him better." Suzie said as she got up and introduced herself first. Jaarin did the same thing next.
Accepting this, Gennai and Piximon went next, followed by Lopmon and Valkryimon. After this, Jaarin went to wake up Rinchel.
"While she's getting your brother, let's go set up over there," Gennai said to Suzie as he pointed over to an area nearby.
As they walked over, the agent who spotted them earlier was watching them through a portable spyglass.
"Bakemon, you better have a good reason for being here!" A dark voice said, which the ghost recognized as LadyDevimon's who appeared before him.
"I do indeed, my lady. For you see, I spotted three human children earlier. And they said the Digimon Sovereign had sent them."
Hearing this made the dark woman gasp in shock! "A-Are you certain of this?"
"I'm afraid so, but there's something else. It seems that the one our master has been looking for has arrived in person."
"Gennai is here!...hmm, this is the opportunity we have been waiting for!" A wicked smile formed on her face. Then, using her powers, LadyDevimon opened a dark portal in which Matadormon emerged with the Onimon beside him.
"Where are we?" the dark creature asked then noticed the two Digimon before him.
"Ah Matadormon, I see you succeeded in your mission."
"Indeed my dear, and I take it you called me for a reason?" he asked, then listened as LadyDevimon told him about the situation.
"I see, well then how shall we proceed?"
"Given that you are familiar with those two Mega's in there, you shall handle them, which will allow Onimon to test his powers against the others," the devil stated to the two.
Saying nothing at first, Onimon walked forward where he smelled LadyDevimon.
"As you have the same scent as the one who freed me. I shall obey you as well."
"Excellent, now go in the name of Lord Daemon," she commanded, to which the creature nodded, then leapt off after his targets, along with Matadormon.
"This is going to be entertaining!" LadyDevimon thought as she and Bakemon waited for their moment to strike.
To Be Continued.
(Author's Note)
Hello Everyone! I know many were hoping that Hawkmon would become Shurimon in this chapter. It's going to happen soon. Also, I'm to start adding where each location will be in future chapters-hopefully it will help the story to make more sense.
The next chapter will see Jaarin and Rinchel's partners in a rematch with Matadormon and Suzie and the others against Onimon. The outcome will be something to remember.
Till then, Stay Tuned.
