She waited for a moment, and then Professor Trelawney opened the door.

"Yes?" The Professor said, then she looked down, saw Sombra, and greeted her. "Oh, Ms. Black! Come on in."

Sombra walked in and greeted the Professor. "Good morning, Professor."

"Good morning, Ms. Black. Please sit." ProfessorTrelawney said ushering her to a seat at a table.

"Has Professor Flitwick told you about my dream?"

"No, dear. He merely mentioned that it was similar to a divination."

Sombra nodded. "Well, I-the dream felt a lot more real than most nightmares. It... I could see and focus on every single detail and... I could feel the cold. It felt like I was there. I had no idea I was dreaming until... well, until I woke up."

Professor Trelawney listened attentively. "Well, it would seem like it was a divination. And I'm not surprised either."

"You're not?" Sombra asked.

"No." Professor Trelawney said. "From the moment you walked up to the Sorting Hat, I sensed you had the Inner Eye."

The Professor started pacing and then stopped in front of Sombra. "You have a rare gift, Sombra Black. The Inner Eye is strong in you. Your visions and prophecies will be more accurate, more detailed than most. Your unique Power strengthes it."

Sombra's breath hitched when she said Power. How could she know? She thought. I haven't told anyone.

"Purples are usually strong in divination and legilimency. You, for some reason, appear to be stronger than most."

"How did you know?" Sombra whispered hoarsely. "I haven't told anyone. Not even Flitwick or Dumbledore."

"Diviners can sense those with the Power." Trelawney said. "Our magic is similar so we can sense each other. You felt my magic when you stepped into the Great Hall, didn't you?"

Sombra remembered the odd sensation she had felt when she had walked into the Great Hall. She nodded.

Professor Trelawney nodded enthusiastically. "That, was what I felt."

"But how did you know I was a Purple?" Sombra asked.

"Purples emit a certain frequency." The Professor said. "And, your mother. Sylvia. Sylvia Espadas. She entrusted me," she got up, went to her bookshelf and pulled out an ancient looking book. "With this before she ran away with you. Your mother was an Agate. Her eyes were like the moss variant of the stone by the same name. She could channel sound waves and amplify them. The Death Eaters used her to torture many a victim." The Professor sat down and placed the book on the table between them. "Your mother told me to pass it on to you when I sensed the time was right. There is no better time than now." The Professor gestured toward the book. "Take it."

Sombra reached out and took the book. She flipped open to a marked page and saw the word Purple scrawled across the top.

"This book is handwritten." Profesor Trelawney said. "It is the original copy written by an ancestor of yours."

Sombra looked up. "This book has got be thousands of years old. How is it not dust?"

"There are powerful spells on this book. It will always look old, but never so old to the point where it appears to be falling apart." Professor Trelawney explained. "Your mother marked the chapters about Agates, Lilacs, Purples, Oranges, Orchids, and Dandelions.

As Sombra looked at the orange and pale purple bookmarks, her breath caught in her throat and she was filled with great sadness. Drac... She thought. Aunt Zinnia...

"Why Orchids, and Dandelions?" Sombra asked.

"I'm assuming she consulted a seer who saw those colors in your future. Perhaps in the form of children or long lost relatives."

Sombra took a moment to process the information. So, either she had a cousin or something like that whi was an Orchid, or Dandelion, or in the future, children with one of those colors. It was a little startling to know how at least some of her children would turn out.

"I suggest you tell Dumbledore and at least two other teachers what you are so they can help protect you from those who would use you for evil."

Sombea swallowed. "I'm gonna have to tell Professor Flitwick."

"It would be advisable. Your Head of House is responsible for your well-being, and Filius cannot do his job if he does not know that there could be forces of evil coming after you and why."

Sombra nodded. She got up. "Should we go tell him now."

"Yes. You have his class soon."

With that, Sombra and Professor Trelawney departed from her classroom and went to the Charms classroom.

Sombra knocked on the door. "Professor Flitwick?"

The door opened and when Flitwick saw them, he happily ushered them in. "Miss Black! Sybil! Come in, come in."

Professor Flitwick insisted on giving them tea and sitting them down. "Well, how did it go? What was the final verdict?"

Sombra and Professor Trelawney looked at each other, and Sombra said, "It went quite well, Professor. Professor Trelawney said it was a vision and that I have the Inner Eye... and, actually, there's something else you need to know."

"Oh? Do tell."

"Uhm... I'm assuming you've heard of the Ancients?"

"Why, of course. The Empowered. They Who were Granted Magic by the Moon. The ones who gave the very first witch and wizard their magic." Flitwick seemed to guess it was something about them. "Why? Did you discover something about them?"

Sombra looked a little uneasy. "Well, you see, Professor. The thing is... I..."

A look of realization appeared on the Charms teacher's face.

"... I am one." Sombra finished. "A purple to be exact."

Professor Flitwick's eyes widened. "So the tales of the Ancients being able to change their eye color are true." He said. "Do you mind showing me your true eye color?"

Sombra shook her head and shifted her eyes from blue to purple.

Flitwick looked at her in amazement. "They're beautiful." He murmured. "Of course I've read books... but words alone cannot describe the beauty of your irises. No... They truly are beyond description."

"Thanks." Sombra said abashedly.

Even Professor Trelawney looked in awe.

"Professor?" Sombra said.

"Yes?" Flitwick asked.

"Professor Trelawney mentioned I should tell Dumbledore and one teacher other than you. I was wondering if you had any suggestions."

Flitwick appeared thoughtful. "I would recommend telling Professor Snape. He seems to like you. In fact, the only students he's liked before you were Accalia Raven and Rajani Nyx who are now aurors. Severus ought to know a thing or two about the Empowered. He was great friends with your mother who was an Agate. In hindsight, I should have guessed you were Empowered. After all, your mother was one."

"Honestly, I would have been surprised if you had figured it out. My mother told me that the only ones who had ever found out about her were those with the Inner Eye."

Flitwick smiled. "I suppose it's just one of those things that requires a special person."

"Yeah. My Mom told me that we have a certain magic about us that keeps people from finding out unless they're told by the Empowered person directly. Well, or they see our eyes, but that's a dead giveaway."

Flitwick paused momentarily. "I trust then that your mother told you all about Purples." He said.

"Actually, no." Sombra sighed. "She didn't really get a chance to. We were on the run for three years. Trying to avoid the Death Eaters. She told me the basics: that I could bring those who had died recently back to life, that if it was an animal, it would have purple eyes permanently, but if it was a human it would only have purple eyes for a week, and that we'd be mentally linked as a result."

Professor Trelawney pulled out the book and set it on the table. "Sylvia left this with me shortly before she and Regulus set out to Russia with Sombra."

Professor Flitwick looked at the book. "May I?" He asked Sombra.

She nodded.

He looked at the book in wonderment, and flipped to the purple bookmark. Once he did, he saw that there were three pages dedicated to Purples.

He read through some of the bits concerning her powers. Flitwick looked impressed and eyed the pages with respect. "Whoever placed the charms on this book knew what they were doing." He said. "And they must have been very gifted, as well." He passed the book back to Sombra.

"It was an ancestor of mine." He or she was probably a Pearl."

"Pardon my asking, but what is a Pearl?" Flitwick questioned.

"Pearls are a rather common breed of Empowered. They can heal wounds on the skin, and even heal werewolf bites so that the bitten won't become a werewolf. They cn also cast powerful preservation spells on things to make them ageless for eternity."

Flitwick opened his mouth to say something but then Alia and Hermione walked in. The professor quickly cast a charm on the book to make it look likeba textbook.

"Ms. Granger Ms. Baron." He said. "Welcome to class."

"Hello, Professor." The two greeted.

Sombra and Flitwick exchanged a look. The message was clear. They would continue the conversation later.

Flitwick directed the three girls to their seats and

Sombra grabbed her book and headed to her seat next to Alia, who was next to Hermione. She k es her friend would have questions, and she had to be prepared to answer them without giving out the whole truth.

Sorry for the long absence. School's been crazy, and life has been difficult.
