Author's Note:

A fix-it for the latest episode of The Mandalorian S3E7.

Boba just has to be there when the new legends of Mandalor are being born.

Boba cursed. What good were these new visions, if they didn't actually help him get there in time? He almost wished he hadn't started using his ancestral 'gift' regularly in the first place.

Almost.

He wouldn't trade J'mee for anything in the Galaxy.

It still wearied him that he seemed to be too late to do anything, except stumble over a dead body.

A fresh dead body, but still a dead body.

Also not Din's fresh dead body so there was still some point to his visions.

He meant to leave, follow the direction that kept insisting his friend was in.

But...

He couldn't help but wonder if there was a little boy waiting in vain somewhere for his father to come back.

"Frak it all."

Boba knew where the other Mandalorians were. He knew where to take the body. And possibly he could convince 'Princess' Bo Katan to help recover Din Djarin.

He hoisted, with some difficulty, ("big bruiser weren't you" he grumbled) the body and headed back to his borrow ship. Fett was no fool, his own ship was far too recognizable.

He was half way there when a distinct soft beep from a monitored system made Fett freeze.

Another came, and then another.

Fett set the body down in a seated position against a wall, and waited.

A carefully calculated distance away.

Not two minutes later, it began to make the feeble movements of someone rising from a slumber.

"So you're one of those Vizslas," Boba remarked drily, his gaderffii ready in his hands.

The body stilled. Yet the life sign indicator still beeped steadily in Boba's helmet.

"Don't worry, this stays between the two of us," Boba continued, "I have my own," he paused, considering his word choice, "my own business that I wish to keep silent."

The silence continued.

"Please don't tell me this is the first time you've come back to life?"

It was entirely possible it was, and given the state of Clan Vizsla it was also possible this poor fool had no idea of the 'secret' hereditary glitch in their line. Boba did not want to have to be the one to explain it to someone roughly the size of a small imperial walker.

"No," a deep rough voice answered finally, and the man used the wall to push himself to his unsteady feet, "the second. The first time was just a few years ago."

Boba shifted his position, and made a small gesture of "go on" with his gaderffii.

"Who are you to know about...this? It's Clan and House Vizsla business. Not for outsiders."

"Let's just say a pair of our ancestors made a serious joint mistake," Boba smirked under his helmet.

"A descendant of Cassus Fett."

Fett was impressed.

"Yes."

"Boba Fett?"

"Someone's been telling tales."

"Din Djarin told us about you. Requested we leave you alone. Didn't mention you were..."

"A sorceror?" Boba laughed, the laughter fond and warm, "I doubt he's even aware of the legend of Cassus Fett. We've done our best to ignore it ourselves, just as the Vizslas have kept their occasional peculiar members under wraps. Your name?"

"Paz Vizsla."

"Well, Paz Vizsla, we have choice now..."

"What were you doing?" Paz interrupted, looming with one forward step.

"Bringing your body back to your tribe," Boba snapped, and then more softly, "I wasn't leaving you for scavengers, or worse Imperials. Don't know if you have one, but I want my son to have my armor should I die."

"I do," Paz bowed his head, "This is the Way."

Boba was discerning enough to realize he couldn't joke with this man the way he had with Din.

"Good, now we have a choice," Boba continued on, "either we can return you to your people, or we can surprise the hell out of that di'kut Gideon and get Din back ourselves."

"I'll need to refresh my weapons," Paz responded instantly, and Boba wished he could see the man's face for he was certain there was a feral grin to match his own.

"Good man. Let's go make a legend."

Additional Author's Notes:

For the curious - the only reason Fennac is not there because she's the only person Boba trusts to leave J'mee with, and raise him if something happens to Boba. Also Boba isn't letting anyone Mandalorian near J'mee unless it's in his own territory, for reasons.
Paz is similar to Highlander style Immortal in that the only way to really him is to behead him (Boba is going to fuss about him wearing proper armor around his neck, for Ragnar's sake if for nothing else) but not in other aspects. It's more like an unexpected genetic wrinkle that pops up periodically – kept secret because no one wants to be a guinea pig. There is a link to the Fett family history I'm working out if this goes any further.
