Chapter 4

Buttercup starts feeling cold all of a sudden. At first, she ignores it and turns to her side, but then after a few more twists and turns, she finally got up and yawned. She then gains her bearings and wonders what to do. She woke up in a forest. The forest had tall, hard trees and the ground was overgrown with bushes and shrubs. It was also swallowed by the darkness of midnight. While the only source of light was the cold and beautiful moonlight being reflected by the moon.

"Seriously, can't I get a better dream?" She moaned. She tries to gain her bearings as she gazes into the deep darkness in between the trees. Buttercup then wonders what to do, but quickly gives up and shouts "I'm Buttercup! I'm not the thinker, I'm the doer". She then tries to take off but she falls and face-plants. "I can't use my powers!? So unfair!". She instead walks in the direction she was going for, punching the air and muttering insults while she was at it.

The forest seemed endless. There was nothing in sight except trees and bushes. The breeze was weaving its way through the dense forest, disturbing fallen leaves and moving loose shrubs. Buttercup grew more and more impatient as time went on. She hoped that she could find the exit from this forest, or find something in it other than trees.

As she was making her way through, she noticed that the trees appeared to be moving and contorting in unnatural ways. Then the trees around her started to quickly distort into shapes that no one would begin to comprehend. Buttercup jumped into a defensive stance in preparation for anything that might jump at her. Buttercup started to feel nervous. It felt that her mind was breaking and that she might flee at any moment. Her vision started blurring into static, and the words "HE IS COMING", written messily, fade in. Buttercup buries her face in her hands, trying to block out the noises surrounding her. She pleads for this to end as the noises grow louder and louder.

Then everything stops. Buttercup slowly ascended to see that her surroundings haven't changed and that she was just merely hallucinating. Buttercup then continued with her voyage, while keeping a careful eye on her surroundings. Just to see if anything else unusual happens.

This was one of a few rare moments where Buttercup got spooked. It's quite hard to scare her, let alone make her jump at least. Buttercup was known as being the tough one among her sisters, the "toughest fighter" as she was dubbed. Buttercup had the bad habit of blindly rushing in, head-on, in a fight without planning or for no reason. It often gets her injured and her sisters have to constantly ask her to be more careful, but she never cares. She also often teases or belittles her sister Bubbles, who tends to be more emotionally expressive, thus being soft and more innocent than her other sisters. Blossom or their creator/father, Professor Utonium, have to give out to her to be nicer.

Buttercup then notices what appears to be an old and decaying cabin in what looks like to be close to the outside of the forest. Buttercup then decides to look inside the cabin for fun. She reaches the door and gently pushes the door open, which lets out a loud creak. Buttercup then spots a light on the wall and flicks it on. She sees tools and other maintenance items. "It's just some old janitor's closet", she concluded.

Then, she notices a small desk with a small lamp, stationary equipment, a pile of papers and a small A4 paper that seemed recently pulled out of a notebook. Buttercup moves to the desk and picks up the ripped-out paper. On it, she reads, written neatly;

BEHIND YOU

Buttercup chuckles and sets the paper down. "These cheap tricks won't work!" She says loudly. The out of nowhere, she gets slashed in her back by a sharp object. Buttercup cries out in pain and turns to see a teenage boy with a grotesquely large smile and glowing white pupils. He had black messy hair and pale, cold skin. He carried a knife covered in blood. Buttercup stared in horror at him and felt her back. She winced as she felt a sharp pain across her back and checked her hand and saw blood. She was bleeding, and Buttercup was shocked because she and her sisters never bled before. The boy raised his knife to strike her, but once she saw him do it, she charged forward pushing him out of the way. He then chases her through the forest and slowly starts gaining up to her. Buttercup's breath quickens and her mind filled with panic and dread tries to think of a way to escape him.

The forest starts changing again, the trees twist and turn into the shapes that they previously were when they first did, turning into new shapes that Buttercup didn't see before. But also the moon turned completely black with a red aura surrounding it. Buttercup kept on running, she never thought about stopping and just kept going. She then reached the edge of the forest and was now beside a road. She spotted a neighbourhood across the road and she dashed towards it. Jeff was right behind and also soon appeared. Buttercup kept on running until she lost him and she went to a house that was close to her. She slammed the door shut and rushed up the stairs and went inside a bedroom. There, she looks around for a hiding spot. She spots the closet and goes inside. She curls into a ball and covers her mouth with her hands.

Jeff then opens the door and walks in. He searches for Buttercup, slowly coming closer to Buttercup as he searched. Buttercup grew more nervous as he drew closer and closer, sweat trickling down and eyes growing restless. Jeff was now standing right in front of the closet, staring directly at her. Buttercup thought she was screwed, her heart was racing, hoping for him to go away. He then suddenly opens the closet and Buttercup screams. She tries running away, but he pins her down and repeatedly stabs her. She screams and pleads for him to stop, while small amounts of blood were splattered around the room.

After a few minutes, Buttercup's screams for help stop. Her body became still while a pool of blood forms around her lifeless body. Jeff then stares at her dead body and smiles. "It has been done", he silently mutters.

Dark smoke exited Buttercup's head and Buttercup was twisting and turning and murmuring gibberish. Zalgo turns and notices Jeff there and asks "Have you dealt with her?". He nods yes in reply. "Good, now we must wait until tomorrow". Zalgo stares out of the bedroom window and smiles. "The girls have gotten a preview of what's to come. Now, it is time for the real show".

Later that night, Zalgo summons all of his minions into a meeting. They assemble in an abandoned office which was decaying. "We have completed the first stage of my plan, thanks to , and Jeff, it is time to invite our guests", Zalgo announces during the meeting. "Disembodied, go and get our guests". Dark tentacle masses made from wires appear and slither into the room. The head of Donald Duck is seen in the mass with glowing, white eyes. Zalgo nods towards Disembodied and it nods back. Disembodied then slithers away from the room, leaving behind small pieces of wires and other electronics.

Mojo Jojo was working on a new invention in his observatory, situated on top of a volcano in Townsville. Mojo Jojo was known as being the smartest and most dangerous villain that the Powerpuff Girls have ever fought. Mojo has used a wide variety of inventions to destroy the girls. But all those attempts failed. This time, Mojo has created the perfect fighting machine to defeat the Powerpuff Girls. "At last! My invention is finally complete!", he announces. "I have calculated the possibilities of this failing and have brought them into mind, I have used all my previous knowledge about the girls and their attack formations to create attack formations of my own and backup plans in case they fail, and I have created weapons powerful enough that will be victorious over the girls' capabilities. The fate of the Powerpuff Girls has been sealed. For I, Mojo Jojo, will finally defeat the Powerpuff Girls and take over Townsville!"

His villain monologue was cut short when dark tentacles reach through the doorway into Mojo's lab and grab the walls closest to it. Then Disembodied appears in the centre of the mass of tentacles and stares at Mojo. He stares in shock at the disturbing blob that just entered his lab. "Who are you?! What are you doing here? You're not the Powerpuff Girls! Explain Yourself!", he shouts. Disembodied then hands him a letter addressed to him from Zalgo. Mojo takes the letter and reads the name of the sender. He then gasps in shock and hurriedly runs to his living room and grabs a book from a nearby bookcase. He hurriedly flips through the book and reads something, before excitedly laughing. "I cannot believe it! The most powerful villain in the entire multiverse has sent me a letter", he exclaims. He hurries back to his lab and reads the letter and as he reads it, he lets out an evil grin, and it grows louder and louder as he kept on reading. "I would gladly want to see the girls suffer", he says. He turns to Disembodied and yells "Show me the way to the stage!". Disembodied nods and leaves and Mojo jumps into his new mech and follows Disembodied.

Zalgo has also sent letters to every single villain that the Powerpuff Girls have ever faced. Just like Mojo Jojo, they have also accepted the invitation and have arrived at the theatre where the show will begin. All the villains had made their way to their seats and waited for the show to begin. Later, Zalgo appears and introduces himself to them. "Hello there fellow villains", he announces. "I believe you all have failed to defeat the Powerpuff Girls, and that you all crave for the moment where the girls to suffer, right?". The audience murmurs things that agree with Zalgo's statement. "Well, I am quite happy to say that yours truly will defeat them and I will show you moments of their suffering and give you the pleasure that you crave". The crowd cheers and applauds. "Alright then..."

"Let the show begin".
