Shawn's surgery was still going on. Alexandria and Sam were in the waiting room. She looked at the time on her phone anxiously. Shawn had been in surgery for about a half hour.

"He's ok." Sam said comfortingly.

"I know." "I just hate it when he's sick." "I like taking care of him when he is though." "He calls me mommy again and likes to snuggle." "I know he's growing up, but I miss my baby boy." "I've always wanted him to have a little sister."

"Have you and Caleb talked about it?"

"No." "We use condoms." "If something happens like it did with Shawn, I'd be happy."

"Would Caleb be happy?"

"I know he would." "He'd make a great dad." "He loves Shawn."

"I'm glad the condom didn't work for us."

"So am I." "I freaked when I found out I was pregnant but I could never imagine my life without Shawn.""It was hard going to school, college, medical school but I wouldn't trade any of it for the world."

"How did you manage to do all that with a baby?"

"My parents hired a nanny so I could go to school." "I would never let the nanny take care of Shawn when I was home." "I didn't care how tired I was or how much work I had to get done." "I always made time for him."

"I'm surprised your parents let you keep him."

"My dad wanted me to give him up for adoption." "I said no." "When he got older and he started looking more and more like you, I loved it because I knew it drove them nuts."

"Do they know I know about Shawn?"

"No." "It's none of their business." "Even though he can't tell you yet, Shawn loves you." "I know he does."

The doctor came out. Alexandria and Sam stood up.

"Everything went fine." The doctor said. "Shawn's in recovery." "You can see him but he's still unconscious."

Alexandria and Sam had been waiting for Shawn to wake up for a half hour. Shawn opened his eyes.

"Mommy." He said weakly. It hurt his throat. He got tears in his eyes.

"Try not to talk." Alexandria said.

"It's ok buddy." Sam said.

An hour later they went home.

"Are you hungry Shawn?" Alexandria asked. He nodded his head yea. "Want some ice cream?" Again he nodded his head yes.

"Can- Shawn started but it hurt to bad to continue.

"Here." Alexandria said handing him a notepad and pencil.

Can I watch TV? He wrote.

"Yes."

Later that night Shawn was asleep. Alexandria went to the doorway of Sam's room.

"Is everything ok in here?" She asked. "Do you need more blankets or anything?"

"I'm fine."

"I'm going to bed." "Goodnight."

"Goodnight."

Alexandria woke up in the middle of the night. She went to go check on Shawn. He was gone and so was his blanket and pillow. She went to Sam's room and smiled when she saw Shawn and Sam asleep in bed. Shawn was snuggled up to him.
