It was a Tuesday morning Alexandria was putting Shawn on a plane to Atlanta to spend his spring break with Sam. AEW was taking place in Atlanta tomorrow night. The last three shows of Shawn's break were taking place in LA. So the plan was for Alexandria to come and attend the last three shows then fly back to San Diego with Shawn. Alexandria gave Shawn a hug.
"Be good." She said.
"I will." She got tears in her eyes. "Why are you crying?"
"I've just never been away from you for this long."
"I'll be safe." "I'll be with Sam."
"I know." "It's just a mom thing." She kissed his cheek. "Have fun." "I love you."
"I love you too mom." "Bye."
"Bye." Shawn got on the plane.
Sam picked Shawn up from the airport. After dropping off his bags at his house he and Shawn decided to go out to lunch. They were coming back from lunch.
"See that building?" Sam said as they drove past.
"Yeah."
"That's the country club where your mom and I met."
"Cool."
"Wanna see a place that was special to your mom and I?"
"Yeah."
Sam took Shawn to the lake.
"Our first date was a movie." Sam said. "Afterwards she brought me here." "This is where our first kiss happened." "This is where I told her I loved her for the first time."
"Is this where I was made?"
"No." "That was your grandma and grandpa's house."
"Is that why they don't like you?"
"They didn't like me because I wasn't rich."
"Aren't you now?"
"Yeah but they don't know that, even if they did they still wouldn't like me."
Meanwhile Alexandria was at home. She didn't quite know what to do with herself with no kid or responsibilities for the next two weeks. Her video chat tone went off. She pressed the button to connect and Sam popped up on the screen.
"Hi Lexie." Sam said.
"Hi.
"Say hi to your mom Shawn." He said facing the phone at him.
"Hi mom." Shawn said.
"Hi." "Having fun?"
"Yeah."
Sam panned the phone around to show Alexandria where they were.
"Recognize anything?" Sam asked.
"You guys are at the lake."
"Yep."
"I haven't been there in years." While that was true it wasn't quite as many years as everyone knew.
Flashback
The year was 2015. It was summer and Alexandria had just finished college. She was flying back after touring the campus where she would be attending medical school that fall. Unbeknownst to her parents she'd picked a flight that had an hour layover in Atlanta. She never dated. Her parents never questioned it but the reason why was because she still loved and wanted to be with Sam. She'd hoped to find him, tell him she still loved him and tell him about Shawn. She walked into the country club up to the front desk.
"Hi Alexandria." The woman behind the desk said.
"Hi." "Does Sam Ratsch still work here?"
"No." "He quit."
"When?"
"Two years ago."
"Thank you."
She'd went to his house but a different family had moved in. Out of options she went to the lake sat down and cried.
End Of Flashback
The next night Sam and Shawn were at the arena. Sam was introducing him around. They went over to Steve Borden. (Sting)
"Hi Shawn." Steve said. "It's nice to finally meet you."
"It's nice to meet you to." Shawn said.
Sam had just got done doing his and Shawn's face paint.
"Let's take a selfie and sent it to your mom." Sam said.
Alexandria got a text with the picture of Sam and Shawn underneath. It read.
Darby Allin and Darby Allin Jr. – Sam
Alexandria smiled.
Aw that so cute. – Alexandria
The next afternoon Shawn was on the bus with Steve playing cards. Sam was at an autograph signing.
"Sam tells me your mom's getting married." Steve said.
"Yeah." "In October."
Steve could tell something was on Shawn's mind. "What?"
"I can't tell you." "You'll tell Sam, he'll tell my mom, and she'll get mad at me."
"I won't say anything to Sam." "Do you not want your mom to get married?"
"I did."
"Until Sam came?"
"Yeah." "I feel bad." "Caleb's not a bad person." "He's always been nice to me." "It's just…
"You want your parents to be together."
"Yes." "I wish it was Sam marrying mom." "I know they still love each other." "I see it every time they're around each other." "It's all grandma and grandpa's fault."
Later that night Alexandria and Caleb were in bed together. He kissed her.
"Did that cheer you up any?" He asked.
"Yes."
"Good."
"Caleb, if we were to get surprised like I did with Shawn, would you be happy?"
"Are you pregnant?"
"No." "We've just never talked about this."
"Of course I would be happy Alexandria." "I love you, I love Shawn and I'd love our baby."
