November 6th 2038...
Hank hated crime scenes like this as he walked into the Eden Club, walking to Ben.
"Hey, Hank. Where's Leah and Connor?" Ben responded.
"They're not here?" Hank asked.
"Nope, not a word from them." Ben responded.
"Damn. I'll try to reach Leah later. Where's the body?" Hank replied.
"It's in that room there." Ben responded, motioning to the room on the right. "Oh, uh, by the way, Gavin's in there too." He explained, Hank rolling his eyes.
"Oh, great… a dead body and an asshole, just what I needed." Hank muttered sarcastically before he walked into the room and Gavin saw him.
"What the fuck are you doing here? Where's Red and your plastic pet?" Gavin asked.
"Investigating the crime scene. Chris, go take a break. Gavin, you stick with me." Hank responded, Chris quickly leaving.
"We're wasting our time. Just some pervert who got more action than he could handle." Gavin replied, Hank narrowing his eyes at the detective.
"I don't like these kind of cases either but we need to figure out who killed him." Hank explained, Gavin turning his attention to the android on the floor and crouching down.
"Hey, wake up, Sweetheart." Gavin responded as he lightly shook her, the Traci on the floor waking up and scrambling away as Gavin cautiously walked over and crouched down. "Relax, I'm not going to hurt you. All we want is to know what happened." He explained softly.
"Is he… is he dead?" Traci asked, Gavin nodding and noticing her bleeding nose.
"Don't worry, he won't hurt you anymore. Just tell me what happened." Gavin replied.
"He started... hitting me… again... and again. I begged him to stop, but he wouldn't." Traci explained, Gavin blinking tears away as he remembered the last time that Leo had abused Leah.
"Was there anyone else here?" Hank asked, Traci looking at him.
"There was another girl. He wanted to play with two of us." Traci responded.
"What did she look like?!" Gavin asked.
But the Traci shut down and Gavin stood up, him and Hank leaving the room… and then Gavin had an idea.
"The staff door…" Gavin responded, Hank following after him before they reached the staff door.
"Wait! I'll take it from here." Hank replied, aiming his gun as he opened the door and they walked into the warehouse… and Hank saw the broken androids. "Christ, look at them… They get used till they break, then they get tossed out."
Gavin cringed as they saw the broken WR400 who had a resemblance to Leah… and Hank rushed over to Gavin before his eyes went wide with horror and he rushed down the steps, Gavin following after him.
"Red?!" Gavin replied as Hank crouched down.
"Leah?! Babydoll?!" Hank responded frantically… before he saw the LED that was no longer working and breathed a relieved sigh that it wasn't his niece dead on the ground but he still felt horrified as he stood up and he and Gavin walked back into the warehouse.
"For a second, I thought…" Gavin tried to explain, Hank placing a hand on Gavin's right shoulder.
"I know, Son, I thought the same thing… places like these sicken me." Hank responded before he lowered his left hand… and Gavin walked to an LED that was yellow before a short haired android lunged at him, Hank aiming his own gun at her.
"DON'T MOVE!" Hank shouted before he was tackled by a blue haired android and the fight escalated to the outside area.
Gavin was thrown to the freezing concrete and was dazed as the women held hands and ran for it as Gavin and Hank pulled themselves up.
"QUICK! THEY'RE GETTING AWAY!" Hank shouted, Gavin chasing after them and pulling the blue haired one off of the fence before he was hit with a trashcan and fell.
He grabbed his gun and aimed it… and lowered it as they stopped and he stood up as Hank walked to him.
"When that man broke the other Traci... I knew I was next. I was so scared… I begged him to stop, but he wouldn't…" The blue haired deviant explained before she trailed off as she was shaking, Gavin nodding in understanding.
"You didn't mean to kill him. You just wanted to stay alive and get back to your lover." Gavin replied, the women nodding as they held hands. "Go on. Get out of here." He responded.
They climbed the fence and ran off, Gavin turning to Hank.
"You okay, Hank?" Gavin asked.
"Yeah. It's better this way." Hank responded before they left and reached Gavin's patrol car.
"Fuck!… I really thought Leah had gone undercover and that some sick son of a bitch killed her!" Gavin confessed as tears ran down his face, Hank pulling him into a hug.
"I know, Son. I know… I thought the same thing. I just hope she's at home and safe." Hank responded as tears trickled down his own face before they let go. "Let's go file the report that we couldn't find them. Then let's forget this night ever happened." He explained before they left.
But neither of them would ever truly forget…
Present time, November 7th, 2038…
Gavin's head, back and ribcage were hurting from the fight as he sat down at his desk… and he saw Hank, Leah and Connor walk into the precinct, Gavin carefully standing up.
He wanted to tell Leah off… but that changed when he saw the miserable look on the redhead's face and he knew why she hadn't shown up to the Eden Club.
'If I had a hangover, I wouldn't show up to work at all.' Gavin thought before he walked to the break room, Tina seeing him.
"You look like hell." Tina responded.
"That's one way to describe it…" Gavin replied as they sat down. "At the Eden Club… Hank and I saw a broken android that looked like Leah. We freaked out because we thought it was her until we saw the LED." He explained, Tina turning horrified.
"Whoever killed that man that had broken that android, I hope they got away." Tina responded.
"I hope so too." Gavin replied quietly.
Leah looked up as she heard Gavin walk over, Leah standing up before she followed him into the hallway… and Gavin pulled her into his arms, Leah instinctively wrapping her arms around him.
Leah cringed as her head started to ache again, Gavin lightly cradling the back of it.
"Gavin, you okay?" Leah asked quietly.
"There was a… redheaded girl on the ground last night at the back of the Eden Club. Hank and I thought… that you had been killed." Gavin explained, Leah realizing that was one of the reasons why Hank had hugged her earlier and didn't want to let go.
"From what I've heard about last night's crime scene, I don't blame either one of you for being horrified." Leah responded before they let go and sat down on the floor.
"Hank and I did find the girl who killed that man. We let her and her girlfriend run, it wouldn't have been right to kill them. Not when they just wanted to get back to each other and find a way out of that place." Gavin explained before they looked at each other.
"This is the first time since Cole's funeral that I've heard you admit that you don't consider androids as machines…" Leah responded, Gavin pulling her back into his arms and letting her rest her head on his left shoulder.
"Yeah, it is. Little guy thought they were cool and I couldn't disagree with him." Gavin replied.
"He really did." Leah responded.
"Tell anyone about this conversation, I'll deny everything. I'm just glad you're okay, even though you did get drunk last night." Gavin explained as he lightly rubbed her back and saw the Rescue patch peek out from under her right coat sleeve. "Smart idea, putting a patch on instead of swallowing one of those chalky supplements." He responded.
"Even with water, those supplements taste terrible." Leah replied before they let go.
Gavin stood up and carefully pulled Leah up to her feet.
"Go and rehydrate, I'll be back upstairs in a bit." Gavin responded before Leah walked upstairs and to the second break room that no one seemed to use anymore, Connor handing a cup of water to her and Leah drinking it slowly as Connor closed the doors and walked back to her.
Once it was empty, she threw it away… and Leah rested her right hand on Connor's left hand.
"Thank you… for taking care of me last night." Leah whispered.
"I'm glad you're okay. I briefly contemplated lying to Captain Fowler and saying that you were sick but Hank beat me to it " Connor replied quietly as they looked at each other… and Leah rested her right hand on the table as Connor rested his left hand on the right side of her face.
Leah ^Lover
The palm of his right hand rested on the palm of her left hand before his hands rested on her sides and her hands rested on the sides of his face before she leaned in and they kissed, their arms wrapping around each other.
For now, they just wanted some time away from everyone else.
