Graveyard, E-Rantel
The group made their way towards the graveyard, composed of Momon, Nabe, Subaru and Carmilla.
Oh, and Hamsuke, too.
Lia had been left behind in order to keep healing the injured Adventurers, as well as guard Lizzie Bareare in case of another attack.
Along with it's gate, the graveyard was surrounded by a large wall about twenty meters high. It seemed they'd frequently had problems with the undead before for it so have this much precaution.
As soldiers came down from the wall to greet them, Ainz could already see the building despair in their eyes when Carmilla appeared to be the only one who wasn't a Copper-plate. "One Silver-plate and three Copper-plates? Head back, the lot of you! You'll be slaughtered if you get close!"
Unsheathing the large blade on his back, Subaru leapt up several feet in the air towards a massive undead that had just loomed over the wall. "[Fatal Edge]!"
With one heavy swing, the massive undead was beheaded in an instant, Subaru landing nimbly on the wall just as the corpse slammed down backwards onto many zombies. Looking down at his comrades, he raised his sword high. "First kill!"
With that, Subaru leapt right into the fray.
'Impressive. If he's originally a caster like me and that's just him in an unfamiliar build, then there's even more to Flugel than I expected.' Ainz held up his swords and gave an appraising look at the large wall before glancing at Carmilla. "Their gates will probably need to be kept closed in order keep the undead in. Can you get over the wall after us?"
Carmilla gave him an almost insulted look before she leapt after Subaru. She didn't clear the wall as easily as he had but in a few seconds, she too disappeared from sight.
"Ha, look at them go! After them, Nabe!" With that, Ainz cleared the wall after them. Soon enough, Nabe and Hamsuke were at his side, just in time to join him in witnessing Subaru and Carmilla tearing into the undead ranks, perforating bone and severing rotting flesh with prodigious ease.
Ainz took a moment to marvel at Carmilla's speed and skill. While a Silver-plate archer like Lukrut, it was certainly something to see her never waste a shot as every fired arrow scored a minimum of two headshots. Even when a skeleton had grabbed her arm, she'd smoothly ripped off the offending arm before using it to bash the owner's skull to pieces without an outward hint of panic. "Forget silver, she's probably Gold-plate in terms of skill..."
"Do you intend to recruit her services, Momon-saaan?" Nabe asked, almost referring to him in her usual manner.
"I'm interested, but no." Ainz shook his head. "That'd be like stealing from Flugel. Besides, we cannot fall behind. I can't be spreading my name by leeching on their kills. Good thing that our opponents put forward an army between them and us."
There really was an army rumbling towards them.
Entire graves, mausoleums and tombs were emptied out, plundered of the resting corpses as their denizens formed a veritable army numbering in the hundreds.
Ainz couldn't help but marvel at such a sight, as it reminded him of the first few floors of Nazarick, where scores of undead awaited anyone foolish enough to invade their Guild.
In this instance, they were enemies, which delighted Ainz. His very instinct as an Overlord demanded that he indulged himself in stealing them all away from his enemy.
Shaking those urges away, Ainz threw himself into the carnage, leading the way onward. For fifteen straight minutes, Ainz joined in eliminating the undead until even Subaru finally had enough of it.
"We're losing time." Subaru huffed before raising up his hand. "[Summon: Ōusagi]!"
At his call, a bright orange glyph appeared beside him before fading away to reveal a-
"Is that a rabbit... with a unicorn horn...?" Ainz asked as Subaru picked up the small white rabbit, whispered something into it's ears and then proceeded to throw it at the nearest undead- 'HOLY SHIT!'
Upon being thrown, the single rabbit had gouged through the zombie.
Then two rabbits had assaulted more of the undead.
Then four rabbits had assaulted more of the undead.
Then sixteen.
Then sixty four.
Their hunger was immense as their numbers rapidly swelled while everybody but Subaru took a wary step back.
'He has a killer rabbit.' Ainz mentally gulped. 'Why does he have a killer rabbit?!'
"Subaru-kun, what in the world was that?!" Carmilla asked the question that was burning within Ainz.
"That was one of my Mabeasts." Subaru explained, catching the knight's eye. "It's a unique monster that I've tamed. I've just ordered it to eat through every corpse that was moving. It normally eats even all of the bones it can find, but we will need physical proof that zombies had been around after all, so I ordered it to hold back by ignoring the corpses if they stop moving."
'Aura would love it.' Ainz could already imagine the little dark elf squealing at the sight of a beast so high in cuteness and deadliness. "Very well, then. Shall we move on?"
"Just a sec." Subaru reached out again and summoned an Item this time before holding it out to Carmilla. "Here. You're gonna run out of arrows soon, aren't you?"
Along with Carmilla, Ainz's own jaw dropped. What Subaru just offered was a magenta bow half the size of the archer, looking composed of extremely quality material while having a large heart symbol through which arrows could be shot through.
"This is the {Bow of Eros}." Subaru explained. "An extremely powerful bow that fires arrows of pure magical energy, and thus never runs into the standard problem of ammo exhaustion. Use this and keep fighting with Ōusagi while I head on with Momon and Nabe."
"...why are you giving me something like this?" Carmilla's voice shook as she turned over the bow in her hands after appraising it. "This is... This is... This has got to be on par with the Swords of Darkness! I'm... I'm not..."
Carmilla looked up at Subaru with wide eyes. "Just who in the world are you...?!"
"...maybe I'll tell you afterwards." Subaru replied before turning to face Ainz. "Let's go, Momon."
As the three (Hamsuke was left behind) started to leave, they still turned to watch when a large explosion got their attention, the huge plume of glowing smoke briefly resembling a freaking heart.
"You're not getting this bow back, you hear me?!"
"Good." Turning away from Carmilla's shouting, Subaru muttered as he turned around. "That thing was a Joke Item Echidna made and tricked me to accepting."
'That's probably one of his guildmates.' Ainz noted as he and Narberal kept pace. 'Still, owning that rabbit monster, along with giving away that tacky but still powerful bow. Whatever game he came from, he must've been incredibly high level.'
Elsa hummed as she sat above the mausoleum, idly flipping one of her knives over and over as she watched Khajit at work below with his minions. Thanks to Meili, she'd become aware of the Adventurer Party cutting through the hordes of the undead to reach them.
Now if only she knew which of them was the one she wanted~
Almost like an answered prayer, they arrived instantly. Two men slammed down with almighty stomps before Khajit's group, causing a small quake while the sole woman amongst them slowly landed from her flight.
All of them didn't even look like they'd cut through hundreds of zombies to reach here.
"Good evening, gentlemen." The knight in black armor greeted calmly as he hefted one of his two massive blades over his shoulder. "Looks like you lot have been quite busy on such a nice night."
Khajit hmphed as he stepped forward like an overconfident moron. "The night has no bearing on the great deed I am about to accomplish. More importantly, who are you? How did you three break through that mob of undead?"
Another distant explosion sounded out as the young man without any armor replied. "What else could we be? We're simple Adventurers here on a quest. We're to retrieve a certain boy you went and kidnapped."
"Also, one of your allies has a bad habit of stealing plate tags." The knight gestured his sword right at where Elsa knew Clementine was hiding. "We're also here for her head. Whether she plans to lay low or is hiding from us is a useless matter."
"And finally, I'd like the woman who brutalized my silver-haired subordinate to step down here." Looking right at Elsa, the armorless man gestured at her. "I'd like to repay the favor."
"Well, how am I supposed to reject an invitation like that~?" Kicking off her spot, Elsa landed right before him, relishing how unbothered he was to have her so close to him.
"Well, well, if Elsa-senpai is going to show herself, I might as well do the same~" Clementine sauntered out of the shadows. "Can I get your names? I'm Clementine by the way~"
"Not that it probably matters to you, but it's Momon." The black knight answered. "Just a newbie Copper-plate Adventurer."
Elsa licked her parched lips. "Former 1st Seat of the Black Scripture, Elsa Granhiert."
The young man hadn't stopped glaring at Elsa. "Copper-plate Adventurer of the {Watchtower} Party, Subaru."
Momon turned to face Subaru. "Sorry, but is it too much to ask that you leave her alive after you're done?"
"If you want to interrogate her or something, I'm already-" Subaru made a mistake of looking away. Elsa considered a horrible, personal insult to have been disregarded so easily. He might have as well be crying 'PLEASE STAB ME, ELSA!'
So she did-
*WHAM!*
Elsa felt something slam into her left side with alarming force as she was sent flying. She felt herself smash through many graves, trees and one wall, even bouncing off the ground twice before rolling to a stop. She slowly lifted her head to regain her bearings but froze.
Connected only a few strips of flesh, was her mangled arm.
"Ha..."
Elsa finally gasped as she also acknowledged the deep gash in her side. Sure it was already healing, but it had still happened.
"Haha..."
Even as she slowly got to her feet, even with her arm properly reattaching, even as her fatal wound regressed into a negligible scratch...
"HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"
Elsa was going to have so much fun!
"Wow, you're crazy." Came the voice of her opponent from behind.
Swiftly turning about, Elsa marveled at how far he'd hit her away from the others. "And you're strong. Tell me, are you friends with the one who defeated Zesshi Zetsumei?"
Subaru raised an eyebrow. "Are you telling me that you're that crazy woman's friend?"
'Ah...' Elsa's smile stretched into a wide grin. "Friend? That's quite a joke. After all..."
Her favorite pair of kukris slid into her ready hands. "I got kicked out for always trying to kill her~!"
Elsa swiftly charged at Subaru, leading with a slash that was instantly blocked with his sword. At that clash, a small shockwave rang out from the collision of their strength. Taking advantage of her sudden stop, Subaru kicked upwards into her stomach, sending her flying into the air.
Just as she reached the peak of her flight, Subaru was there at her side, about to split her in two with his massive sword. Twisting about, Elsa brought up her kukri just as he swung down, causing another clash that recoiled her away.
The moment they landed, Elsa and Subaru clashed again, their swords swinging against each other furiously as their forms started to blur from the sheer speed of their movements. It wasn't as good as slitting his stomach open, but the metallic shrieking song that was being sang throughout their lethal blade dance, was putting Elsa's panties through a little enjoyable crisis as neither combatant refused to back down from their assault and performed a damning macabre with their blades.
"Narberal Gamma, show them the might of Nazarick! Flugel, stop pretending to be at her level! We are beyond them all!"
Disengaging from her, Subaru looked away from her to observe the gigantic Skeletal Dragons that had been rampaging in the distance for a while now.
"Hmm... I guess Ainz's got a point." Subaru gave a little nod before raising up his hand and snapping it. The moment he did so, a little haze seemed to overcome his body. When it faded away...
Elsa instinctively took a step back.
Even at a distance, Subaru's previously brown eyes had burned into a molten gold, his black pupils replaced with cross shaped openings that emanated a shade of white she did not know. Moonlight shimmered off his snow white hair, the strands undulating in a way that didn't match the wind currents blowing in the graveyard. Even his clothing had changed, going from looking like a well dressed Adventurer to what a king would've looked like if he were a combatant who preferred not to wear armor.
And Elsa hadn't even gotten to the wings. For there they were, twelve massive feathered wings of gold which slipped into violet at the edges as power rolled off him as easily as he breathed. It was looking directly at the sunlight, Elsa's vision not quite clearing as her brain tried and failed to fully comprehend what she was looking at.
"̸̡̲̤̙̤̍̽̊̋͂̔͗̚͠͝W̵̢̠̜̻̫͉̬̍̐͌͊̚h̷͍̯̯̥͕͙̞̦͍̅̊̍a̵̟̫͎͖͝t̶̢̛̗̬̳̗̬͕̎̒͊͋́́ ̷̼͖͉͉̱̦̏̂̈́͐͋͋͑̕͜å̸̳̉̓͛̈́̀̽̔̏̕͜r̶̢̨̳͙̫̦͖̻͆͜è̶̼̖̠̣̌͌͐̏ ̵̢̧̛̦̦̫͉̠̟̉͊̊̀͒̈̀͘͜ý̷͕̝̇̈́̀́ō̴̖͉͖̼̝͜͜u̷̧̫͂̉͑͒̋́̈́̿͝ ̵͔̯͍̝̓͋̈́͋̾ḑ̵̧̙̜̗͎͖̋̀͐͑̍̀͊ö̶̜͉̝̘̂̎͜i̷̻̤͙̟͉̮̥͕͚̝͛n̶̪̙͙̰̜͔͕̏͌́̍̿̕̕̕͝g̴̡̥̫̠̞̠̊̿̀̒ͅ ̶̻̯̗͔̰͉̩̜̲̟̒̑̑̿̅o̶̗̘̮̝͎͎͕̹͊n̴̺̟̭̥̺̜̍͌̌̒ ̶̡̡͕̟̹͙̭͂̐̐̚͝y̷̖͍̜̤̽̄́̐̎̎̏͠o̷̺̥͚͊̾̓͘ŭ̸̠̟̙̼̭͎̰̲̜̌̈́̎r̵̛͚̗͋̒͐͛̄̏͋͂͠ ̶̢͓̼͉̝̯̒̾̄̆̊͠͝͠k̷̢̯̩̟̈̌̌̃̿̔͠͝ṉ̸̨̫̪̮̳̔͊̈ȩ̵̹͕̓̆͐̊̈́́é̷̛̤̲̣̩̣̐͒͜͠s̷̤̘̦̠̻͗͠?̶̨͉̜̌"̷̘̦͕͒͂͆̒͠
The sound of his voice was like tasting sunlight through her ears, every word seeming to caress her very soul and throttle her mind. Then Elsa registered his actual words (KNEELKNEELWHATKNEELKNEELAREKNEELKNEELYOUKNEELKNEELDOINGKNEELKNEELONKNEELKNEELYOURKNEELKNEELKNEESKNEELKNEEL) and looked down to realize that she had indeed fallen to her knees. With a panicked gasp, Elsa leapt backwards. "What did I just do?!"
"Easy now." Subaru spoke again, his voice not having the same blessed curse it had seconds ago. Risking a look at him, Elsa found that his wings had vanished and suddenly, she could look at him much better now. "Huh. Looks like {Angelic Grace} has quite the effect on normal humans."
'Did he just say 'angelic'?! Is he... Is he...' Elsa had been raised in the Slane Theocracy. She knew all about the Six Cardinals falsely declaring themselves the 'voices of the gods'. She, along with everyone else in that country, had been raised to be religious down to the bone. But this man... Possibly... "No!"
Elsa's teeth bared into a snarl. "You're no god!"
Subaru raised a perfectly white eyebrow. "I never claimed to be so."
"Shut up! There are no gods! They've been gone for centuries!" Elsa clutched her kukris tight. "[Greater Ability Boost]! [Focus Battle Aura]! [Strong Strike]! [Twin Blade Strike]!"
Elsa's launch was explosive, the earth beneath her shattering as she shot herself towards Subaru. With all of these Martial Arts, she shall strike down this false god-
*TING!*
*BOOOM!*
"Huh?"
Elsa's mind blanked at the sight of her blade failing to penetrate the skin of her opponent's raised palm, the shockwave of her charge harmlessly ruffling his attire as their environment trembled.
"[Fortress]." Subaru silently frowned while a blackish aura wafted off his skin. Then quickly pushing her kukri aside faster than she could even react, Subaru leaned forward and flicked her in the chest.
*BOOM!*
Once again, Elsa had been sent flying through some trees. When she recovered, Elsa swiftly jumped to her feet and dodged just as Subaru landed where she'd laid seconds ago. 'How did he do that?! That power was too much for a mere {Fortress}!'
"How can you perform Martial Arts?" Subaru asked, his wings manifesting with a light that wanted to sear through her head. "Tell me!"
"They're Skills!" Elsa screamed as she cowered, all of her willpower, courage, madness meaningless before the Light. "They're just skills that are passed down! I don't know where they originated from!"
When nothing happened anymore, Elsa lowered her arms to see Subaru having a pensive expression on his face before he realized her looking. "Otto."
Elsa blinked as space ripped itself into a hole beside to reveal a grey-haired man dressed in merchant clothing. "Yes, Flugel-san?"
"Take her to Ferris. Tell him she's due for interrogation. I want to every detail she knows about Martial Arts, especially as Zesshi never used them despite being from the same Black Scripture. Also, let me know more of this Black Scripture as well." Subaru ordered before turning to Elsa, who had unable to move since. "As for you, go to sleep."
And then, she did as he ordered.
Ainz raised a nonexistent eyebrow when Subaru reappeared, puzzled at his new ally's unsettled face. "What is it, Subaru?"
Subaru swallowed before replying. "She knew Martial Arts."
"Do you mean those magical skills warriors use to enhance their bodies?" Ainz spoke as he thought back to their usage with Gazef Stronoff and Clementine. "They definitely didn't exist in {YGGDRASIL}."
"Damn right, they didn't." Subaru huffed. "{Majestia Royal} had plenty of them! {Greater Ability Boost}, {Focus Battle Aura}, {Strong Strike} and {Twin Blade Strike}. These are all Martial Arts under the Warrior, Ranger and Rogue Classes' skill trees. Sorry Ainz, but I'll be taking her back with me for interrogation."
Ainz choked at this new reveal. Martial Arts were from Flugel's game?! This changed everything! How many more 'unfamiliar' things were actually from different games?! 'I see... Well, I suppose that this increases Clementine's value more. She was also skilled in Martial Arts as well...'
"Momon, I think we've been looking at this wrongly. What if... this is all one huge... crossover event?! You know, just without the... Fakeness? Fiction?" Subaru sighed as he grabbed his head in desperation. "I can't even put this into proper words."
A desperation that Ainz fully reciprocated. The more he thought about it, the more it was truly looking like someone had taken a medieval world and dumped differing game lore into it, whipping it into a haphazard mix. "I understand, Subaru. This is all the more reason to continue on with our plans. I spread my name more and extend my reach, while you travel the world and see what else you can find."
"Yeah, y-you're right." Subaru swallowed before walking towards Carmilla as she approached them. "Hey, Carmilla! How are you doing?!"
"P-Please get this th-th-thing off my head." Carmilla looked rightfully terrified as Subaru's killer rabbit was currently resting atop her head, with Ainz once again resisting the urge to shiver when it turned it's hungry eyes on him.
Could it sense that Ainz was technically a 'moving corpse'? No doubt it was only restraining itself due to Subaru's orders seeing as it hadn't leapt at him.
"Thanks for the help, Ōusagi. [Return]." At Subaru's command, the rabbit vanished, finally letting the archer shakily collapse into his arms.
"What a shame..." Narberal whispered.
"What is it, Nabe?"
Narberal shook at apparently being caught, her eyes unwilling to meet Ainz's. "A-Ah, well... It's just... Momon-saaan, that rabbit monster was just... the right mix between cuteness and brutality... I could pet it and throw it at that flirty worm whenever he tries to bother me again... I humbly apologize for forcing you to indulge in my fantasies, Momon-saaan."
"...I see." As much as he wanted to analyze Ōusagi, Ainz resolved to never let Nabe or any of his human hating subordinates get their hands on their own killer rabbit. That just left Cocytus, Mare or Aura- Wait, not Aura. She didn't hate humans much, but she might want to spoil Ōusagi by letting the killer rabbit eat as much as it wanted.
The world would be empty in a week, tops.
"Subaru..." Carmilla hummed with her face buried in Subaru's shoulder. "I said it before, but I'll say it again."
There was a giddy lilt in her voice when she caressed the new bow on her back, her blush contrasting the almost shark-like smile on her face. "I'm not giving this back."
'Note to self: Check effects of Nazarick Items on regular humans later.' Ainz mentally noted as he watched the Silver-plated archer hug her new bow. 'What Subaru called a joke Item might mean something else to the residents of this worl- Ah. Didn't I give that girl two {Horns of the Goblin General}?'
Ainz decided that a personal visit to Enri Emmot was in order as soon as he was done with Nfirea's matter.
"I know, I know." Subaru nodded before suddenly tilting his head up in a smile. "Oh. Let's get going. Lia's probably done healing everyone by now."
'He was probably just {Called} by her just now.' Ainz readjusted Nfirea's unconscious body on his shoulder. "Very well, then. Let's go, Subaru, and make our triumphant return!"
"Well, aren't you playing into your role?" Subaru hummed before frowning. "Although, I feel like I'm forgetting something... Meh, it's probably not important."
Tumbler Inn, E-Rantel, Re-Estize Kingdom
Everything finally got settled.
Thanks to the great accomplishments of Momon, Nabe, Carmilla and Subaru, the Adventurers' Guild had promoted them all to Mithril-plated Adventurers.
Except Subaru, who still had to take the rank up challenge since it'd been issued, except they were now altering the request to note his Mithril-class capabilities.
Surprisingly, none of the {Swords of Darkness} had been surprised or envious. According to what Peter told Subaru, Momon had already proven to them that his and Nabe's skills easily surpassed their brief ranks as Copper-plates.
Also, Ninya had apparently become brave enough to reveal her real gender to her teammates. Dyne stated he'd already known for ages (which frankly made a lot of sense as he was their medic), having accepted that she would've had her reasons for it. Peter had been surprised before acknowledging that 'many things make a lot more sense now'. Lukrut had shown the most outlandish reaction, having thrown himself at Ninya's feet as he begged for her forgiveness for apparently offending her in some manner before.
As for Carmilla, she'd taken to her new rank with wild gusto that was surprising of what he'd gotten of her character. Then again, within days of meeting her, Subaru had seen her go through quite a lot of things. Dealing with Adventurers too strong for their ranks, learning of her foster father's death, receiving an Item that she would've never gotten from her own efforts, fighting side-by-side with the most terrifying monster she'd ever encountered...
So after many, many drinks from the celebratory party, Flugel had still been rather surprised to see both Emilia and Carmilla waiting in bed for him, the latter missing most of her clothes as the former had already started on her 'attack'.
Carmilla screamed breathlessly into Emilia's shoulder, the archer's crotch humping against the half-elf's hand as she was relentlessly teased and stimulated. Flugel wasn't sure how homosexuality was seen in this world, but there was no denying the worshipful daze in Carmilla's eyes after the half-elf had fully dropped her disguise.
After having a few others disparage Emilia's racial status, it was fulfilling for Flugel's potential subordinate to properly see her for the beauty she was, now enjoying the sight of the pink-haired woman eagerly licking between Emilia's thighs with lines of arousal dripping down her own.
Ridding himself of his own clothes, Flugel crawled onto the bed and dug two fingers deep into her heated core, enjoyed the shocked gasp she made when she looked up to see his angelic form.
"S-Subaru...?"
"Flugel, as I am now." Flugel replied as he took her lips, enjoying the taste of Emilia's juices in her mouth as his spare hand groped one of her large breasts and pulled her up so that her back was flush against his front, his turgid shaft digging against the swell of her ass. "Are you alarmed?"
"U-Um, a little?" Carmilla squirmed helplessly as Emilia latched onto her front while directing her fingers to replace Flugel's and nibbling at her flushed neck as Flugel then focused both his hands at her aching breasts, leaving her trapped between the two's onslaught. "It's strange... but you're not... It's not..."
"Dangerous?" Flugel murmured as he lightly pulled at the swollen nubs.
"Evil..." Carmilla gasped sharply as Emilia bit her lip just as the half-elf's fingers went particularly deep. "Even now, you don't... You've done nothing... to scare me..."
"I don't know..." Turning her about so that Carmilla could see him, Flugel lined up his cock against her moist entrance. "I am the most dangerous thing in this world."
Gripping her hips tighter, Flugel sheathed himself deep into her, watching Carmilla's face twitch in a mix of pain and pleasure as she almost screamed only for Emilia to capture her mouth with her own, kissing her deeply.
Carmilla gasped into the kiss, her body shuddering as Flugel slowly began to thrust into her. "Mmph~!"
Relishing her reaction, Flugel pulled her upwards into a sitting position, holding her close as he took her lips for himself as she began to bounce atop him while Emilia grabbed her breasts while kissing the pinkette's nape.
Carmilla shuddered with a small shriek before becoming boneless against Flugel as she dissolved in the greatest orgasm of her life, too limp to react as his cock pulsed hot seed into her depths.
Groaning in satisfaction as Flugel felt his cock being wrung empty by Carmilla's clenching walls, Emilia leaned over the pinkette's shoulder to kiss Flugel's lips, surrendering herself as he grasped her face close and savored her lips and cheeks.
"Ah..." Carmilla gasped weakly as the flagging member within her recovered. "Wha...?"
"Don't be so surprised, Carmilla." Emilia whispered as she looked down at the overwhelmed pinkette from above, cupping her cheeks upside-down. "The night is still young, and Flugel-sama is far from satisfied."
This would be far from the last activity the trio took that very night, lasting all the way to dawn until Carmilla laid nestled between Flugel and Emilia's warm bodies.
Even as he later roused a tired but willing Carmilla for another round, Flugel still couldn't disregard the fact that he was seriously forgetting something...
Andover Woods, Re-Estize Kingdom
Meili had to run.
Away from the graveyard.
Away from the monsters who'd annihilated those death cult guys.
Away from the the woman who kept firing destruction with every pull of her bowstring.
Away from the cute rabbits who kept eating everything.
Away from the Monster with Wings(angeldivinegodkneelkneelkneel) who cowed Elsa into submission.
From the wild she was raised, and to the wild she returned. It was only after she collapsed from a combination of exhaustion and pain that she fully realized what had happened.
She'd abandoned Elsa.
"Always be prepared to leave me if you must." Elsa had said. "The world is full of monsters worse than me."
"You were supposed to be the worst of them all." Meili croaked. "Why did someone like HIM have to exist?"
Elsa Granhiert. The Bowel Hunter. The ex-First Seat of the Black Scripture. The Mad Killer of Gusteko. That person had kneeled before the Monster with Wings, driven by religious instinct just as Meili had from her hiding spot.
"̸̡̲̤̙̤̍̽̊̋͂̔͗̚͠͝W̵̢̠̜̻̫͉̬̍̐͌͊̚h̷͍̯̯̥͕͙̞̦͍̅̊̍a̵̟̫͎͖͝t̶̢̛̗̬̳̗̬͕̎̒͊͋́́ ̷̼͖͉͉̱̦̏̂̈́͐͋͋͑̕͜å̸̳̉̓͛̈́̀̽̔̏̕͜r̶̢̨̳͙̫̦͖̻͆͜è̶̼̖̠̣̌͌͐̏ ̵̢̧̛̦̦̫͉̠̟̉͊̊̀͒̈̀͘͜ý̷͕̝̇̈́̀́ō̴̖͉͖̼̝͜͜u̷̧̫͂̉͑͒̋́̈́̿͝ ̵͔̯͍̝̓͋̈́͋̾ḑ̵̧̙̜̗͎͖̋̀͐͑̍̀͊ö̶̜͉̝̘̂̎͜i̷̻̤͙̟͉̮̥͕͚̝͛n̶̪̙͙̰̜͔͕̏͌́̍̿̕̕̕͝g̴̡̥̫̠̞̠̊̿̀̒ͅ ̶̻̯̗͔̰͉̩̜̲̟̒̑̑̿̅o̶̗̘̮̝͎͎͕̹͊n̴̺̟̭̥̺̜̍͌̌̒ ̶̡̡͕̟̹͙̭͂̐̐̚͝y̷̖͍̜̤̽̄́̐̎̎̏͠o̷̺̥͚͊̾̓͘ŭ̸̠̟̙̼̭͎̰̲̜̌̈́̎r̵̛͚̗͋̒͐͛̄̏͋͂͠ ̶̢͓̼͉̝̯̒̾̄̆̊͠͝͠k̷̢̯̩̟̈̌̌̃̿̔͠͝ṉ̸̨̫̪̮̳̔͊̈ȩ̵̹͕̓̆͐̊̈́́é̷̛̤̲̣̩̣̐͒͜͠s̷̤̘̦̠̻͗͠?̶̨͉̜̌"̷̘̦͕͒͂͆̒͠
When she came to from her nightmare, she realized just how weak she felt before HIM. Drowsily, she wrapped her cape tighter around her form.
She was in a vast, misty forest. Trees of great girth grew all around her as the dawn's rays clashed brilliantly with the flora. If she strained her ears, she could hear the trickle of a stream nearby.
No civilization was in sight.
Coming upon the gently flowing stream, Meili greedily drank from it. If her cheeks felt wet, it was merely the result of the water splashing across her face.
"̸̡̲̤̙̤̍̽̊̋͂̔͗̚͠͝W̵̢̠̜̻̫͉̬̍̐͌͊̚h̷͍̯̯̥͕͙̞̦͍̅̊̍a̵̟̫͎͖͝t̶̢̛̗̬̳̗̬͕̎̒͊͋́́ ̷̼͖͉͉̱̦̏̂̈́͐͋͋͑̕͜å̸̳̉̓͛̈́̀̽̔̏̕͜r̶̢̨̳͙̫̦͖̻͆͜è̶̼̖̠̣̌͌͐̏ ̵̢̧̛̦̦̫͉̠̟̉͊̊̀͒̈̀͘͜ý̷͕̝̇̈́̀́ō̴̖͉͖̼̝͜͜u̷̧̫͂̉͑͒̋́̈́̿͝ ̵͔̯͍̝̓͋̈́͋̾ḑ̵̧̙̜̗͎͖̋̀͐͑̍̀͊ö̶̜͉̝̘̂̎͜i̷̻̤͙̟͉̮̥͕͚̝͛n̶̪̙͙̰̜͔͕̏͌́̍̿̕̕̕͝g̴̡̥̫̠̞̠̊̿̀̒ͅ ̶̻̯̗͔̰͉̩̜̲̟̒̑̑̿̅o̶̗̘̮̝͎͎͕̹͊n̴̺̟̭̥̺̜̍͌̌̒ ̶̡̡͕̟̹͙̭͂̐̐̚͝y̷̖͍̜̤̽̄́̐̎̎̏͠o̷̺̥͚͊̾̓͘ŭ̸̠̟̙̼̭͎̰̲̜̌̈́̎r̵̛͚̗͋̒͐͛̄̏͋͂͠ ̶̢͓̼͉̝̯̒̾̄̆̊͠͝͠k̷̢̯̩̟̈̌̌̃̿̔͠͝ṉ̸̨̫̪̮̳̔͊̈ȩ̵̹͕̓̆͐̊̈́́é̷̛̤̲̣̩̣̐͒͜͠s̷̤̘̦̠̻͗͠?̶̨͉̜̌"̷̘̦͕͒͂͆̒͠
Nothing more.
Somewhat satiated, she tried to sit down and ended up falling on her back against a boulder, hitting her head against it. It must have knocked her out, because when next she woke, the sun had risen higher and there was a man drinking from the stream.
Despite his muscled and powerful body, his blue hair hung limply over empty eyes as he sat back, handling a sheathed katana between him. Then his eyes met hers. "...oh. Hello."
"Hello." Meili weakly swallowed after answering.
"What's a little girl like you doing deep in the woods?"
"Always be prepared to leave me if you must. The world is full of monsters worse than me."

Meili's lips trembled as she replied. "I had to leave my big sister behind with a terrifying monster that hid behind behind a human face."
Of all things to expect, Meili didn't expect the sheer understanding in the man's eyes.
"A terrifying monster hiding behind a human face, huh..." The man muttered. "Does that mean that people like her were always present in this world?"
The man sighed before getting up to his feet. Just before he turned to leave, he stopped and spoke to her again. "My name is Brain. Brain Unglaus."
Meili blinked in surprise before answering. "Meili. Meili Granhiert."
Brain nodded before walking on. If he noticed Meili getting up to follow him, he didn't say anything. Still, he did walk a lot slower than his long legs allowed him to, which in turn allowed her to keep up.
