Memories Feel Like Weapons Day 9
Christina was having a bad morning. She couldn't get her time at Hydra out of her head. She was stuck remembering the pain, hurt, and agony again and again. She was reluctant to tell Damian because he also had to worry about Amethyst. So, she just kept going. She knew if she kept this up, something was going to trigger a breakdown, but at this point, she wasn't really focused on that. Today was the anniversary of the day they had escaped Hydra. Isn't that supposed to be a good memory? Right now, it felt like a sword slicing through her chest. These memories were supposed to be good, so why did they feel like weapons tearing her apart?
"Christina, run! You need to keep going!" Damian shouted over the noise of falling debris. She ran through the explosions all around her. through the chaos of the base. through the wreckage. through the snow, and finally into Damian's arms, shuddering at the devastation all around them. That day took a piece of her. It chopped her heart up before Damian started piecing it back together. But it was never quite the same. She remembered the first time Damian got injured while they were training.
"Damian, are you ok?" She asked. A knife had nicked his side. They were training, and another student had deliberately thrown one at him.
"Come on, let's get that fixed up." Christina said, forcing herself not to cry. She patched his wound, and that day their marks appeared. Then the day she got to meet Adonijah.
She was waiting for her next training in hand to hand combat, and the door silently opened.
"Hello young one my name is Adonijah. I'm here to help you." He said. He did help her and Damian in acting like their Dad. He helped them escape, and made sure they got to the border before faking his death. These memories were supposed to be good, so why did they feel like weapons tearing her apart? Slowly she was making new memories with her family. Slowly she was being mended, and maybe one day she would only have a scar left where the wounds were.
