The following day, Dolly found herself being invited to the station for lunch by Captain Strand. He figured that though she wasn't back to work yet, she wouldn't mind at least properly meeting the team beforehand. Which she appreciated.
So she hopped out of her Jeep and walked inside, sighing in content at the feeling of home she was glad hadn't gone away. As she rounded the corner to the kitchen, she was met with five pairs of eyes and smiling faces.
Owen stood and pulled out a seat, gesturing for her to sit while he went to grab her plate. "Glad you could make it, Firefighter Monroe."
Dolly smiled brightly. "Glad to be invited, Cap. And please, call me Dolly. This food smells amazing." She glanced at the food now placed in front of her. It was veggie tacos and mexican rice. Though she didn't have any particular diet, she would try just about anything. The food was mouthwatering and she thanked him before digging in.
While the group ate, they asked her questions on what to expect in Texas and silly calls she had been to. Her likes, dislikes and what she did for fun. The others we're glad the bell hadn't rang yet, enjoying their time with the smiling rainbow haired woman.
Each person shared their own stories and things about themselves. Dolly was liking the new team more and more and couldn't wait to work alongside them. But there was one particular person she felt herself drawn to and couldn't help glancing into their ocean blue eyes every now and then. Not that they were any different. The two would lock eyes and quickly look away with a small blush.
The others around them were silently observing the duo with knowing twinkles in their eyes. Though Owen was quite surprised at what he was witnessing. Still, he was certain that the universe was trying to tell them something. And he was willing to listen to the universe.
After spending a couple hours with the crew, Dolly went home with a strong feeling of content. The smile hadn't left her face and the image of oceanic blues were permanently etched into her mind.
Once she was sat in her living room, she decided to give Dean a call. He picked up on the second ring.
"Your favorite Winchester speaking."
"Dean-o, bambino. Darlin, please come pinch me for I must be dreaming." She spoke with a dreamy sigh.
"Oh, hell. Please tell me you're not going boy crazy on me, Doll. What did I say? All boys have cooties except for me, Sammy, Cas and Judd." He growled playfully.
Dolly rolled her eyes. "But, darlin. You should have seen him. He is so damn gorgeous and sweet and-" she sighed again, unable to help herself.
Dean groaned over the phone. "No, no, no and no. My Dolly is not going to turn into a little school girl crushing on some pretty boy."
Dolly pouted. "You're so mean to me. I should have called my real favorite Winchester."
Dean gasped. "How dare you! I am the favorite. Not Sammy "McFollow your heart"."
"Whatever, Dean. I just needed to talk about it for a second. Chick flick moment over. Now, tell me about what you've been doing." Dean dived into the details about the King of the Crossroads demon, Crowley and how much of a dick he was. Dolly listened to her best friend, then told him about her lunch at the 126. They talked for two hours before giving their goodbyes and hanging up.
That night, Grace and Judd invited her to go to their favorite honky tonk to relax and gave some fun. Dolly went all out and dressed in black, high waisted jeans that accentuated her curves, a green flannel she stole from Dean, black cowboy boots and cowboy hat. Her hair was in a low braided ponytail.
She rode with her favorite couple in Judd's truck to the bar and got out with a spring in her step. Judd had a grimace on his face, doubtful of having a good time, but willing to humor his wife. Dolly smiled at him in encouragement, earning a small one in return.
As soon as the trio stepped inside, Dolly found that their usual spot was empty and rushed to take claim to it. She glanced around while they took their seats, noticing the crew near the bar. She waved at them when they noticed her arrival.
For a while, Dolly talked to Judd and Grace, sneaking glances towards the places she felt a gravitational pull. Only now it was like it was split in two, which confused her. Before she could dwell on it, however, her vision was suddenly filled with a smirking, green eyed man in his own cowboy getup.
Dolly gasped in surprise and jumped into the man's arms. "Holy shit! Look at you, darlin! What are you doing here?"
Dean chuckled and set her on her feet. "Came to surprise my Dolly." He gestured toward his body. "Looking good, right?" He smirked.
She nodded. "Handsome as ever, cowboy." She looked around, not seeing the taller Winchester. "Where's Sammy?"
He rolled his eyes. "Pouting at your place probably."
Dolly narrowed her eyes. "My place? You two planning on staying for a bit?"
"Yeah. Figured our girl needed us, even if she denied it." He gave her a pointed look.
She smiled sheepishly and hugged him. "I'm glad you're here." She whispered in his ear. He squeezed her tightly before releasing her and holding his hand out.
"Come on, sweetheart. Let's show those city folk you been eyeing how it's done." He winked. Dolly laughed and they got to the dancefloor as soon as the line dancing started. While she was having fun with her best friend, those ocean blues along with a pair of chocolate brown eyes watched with jealousy. A feeling they couldn't understand having for a woman they didn't even know. Still the need to be near her was overwhelming and the duo found themselves leaving the bar together. Both shocked that the same pull lingered between each other.
When they left, Dolly could feel a difference in the atmosphere. The gravitational pull was dwindling the further they got away, but she could feel it leading away from the music and booze. However, she chose to ignore it in favor of enjoying the night with her favorite couple, one of her best friends and the remaining members of the off duty 126. Still, the image of blue eyes returned, now added with brown.
When Dolly got home that night, she was given the Spanish inquisition by her boys, though Sam was more lenient. It being two in the morning, they called it a night and curled up on Dolly's king size bed like old times.
As she slept, Dolly had a dream that seemed more like a premonition of sorts. It involved the two men she thought about since laying eyes on them and almost wished she never woke up. However, Dean had a different opinion.
As soon as the sun began to rise, the green eyed Winchester picked her up and walked until he sat her at her kitchen table. Dolly groaned and laid her head on the cherry wood. "Why?" she whined.
Though she couldn't see it, Dean was smirking with his mouth full of bacon. "Good morning sweetheart. Sorry to wake you from Fantasyland."
Dolly lifted her lead heavy head and tossed a kitten glare his way. "Screw you, Winchester." She snarled.
He gave a cocky grin. "Been there, done that. Not opposed to doing it again." She groaned and stood up to get a cup of the heavenly coffee that had finished brewing.
"Sam, please remove your brother from my presence?" She grumbled to the man who sat at his laptop with a bowl of oatmeal.
"Dean, behave." He scolded without looking away from the screen. The older brother stuck his tongue out and finished eating before getting up and clapping his hands together.
"Alright little brother and favorite girl, what are we doing today since we're not doing any cases during our time here?"
Dolly paused to look at him in shock. "What? Since when do you take a break?"
He shrugged. "Since now. Our Dolly needs us right now and we could use the rejuvenation."
Dolly smiled brightly, suddenly feeling very alive at his answer. "Aw! You two love me!" She cooked before giving each brother a loving hug.
Dean rolled his eyes. "Yes, we do ya dummy. So what are we doing today, Doll?" He asked again.
Dolly shrugged, biting her lip in thought. "Hmm, we could go visit Judd and Grace, then I can show you the renewed 126." She suggested
He nodded. "Yes to both. Besides, I gotta see this man you're crushing on." Dolly looked away, causing him to narrow his eyes in suspicion. "Dolly? Something you want to tell me?"
She swallowed. "Uh, not particularly." He crossed his arms and raised his eyebrow, calling bullshit. She sighed. "Fine. I sorta maybe feel a pull to two men."
Dean's eyes widened, and she swore she heard Sam gasp. "What?!" They shouted in unison.
Dolly winced. "Look, it's not like I can control it. And I don't even know how to explain it. But, I mean, I even had this wonderful dream about them last night. And NO, not the sex kind either. It was more like a premonition of my, or rather our future." She explained hastily.
Dean took a few deep breaths as the information sank in to keep himself calm. His Dolly crushing on one guy was bad enough, but two...and then dreaming about them. He needed to protect her. He bounded towards her and drew her smaller frame into his bigger one, holding her impossibly close.
"Darlin?"
"Just give me a minute, Doll." He pleaded. He held her for a while as if to protect her from everything that surrounded them. Sam watched on from close by, now stood just a foot away from them. He wasn't as close as Dean was with Dolly, but he loved the woman as a sister and would protect her just as fiercely.
When Dean finally released her, he stayed within touching distance with a stone mask on his handsome features. "We'll visit Judd and Grace later. I want to go to the firehouse first." He held his hand up when Dolly went to protest. "I'll be on my best behavior, sweetheart. You have my word on that."
She nodded and hurried to get ready to head out. All while hoping the interaction would go well.
