NCIS and SHIELD part 4 The ripple effect C6
It had been two days since Maria put Sam on the case, she stuck to her lab only coming out for meals and that was mainly due to Bobbie's insistence. Maria had to return to the Triskelion but she was keeping tabs on Ellie who had a meeting with the man that had hired Noah to steal the weapons. Natasha, Clint, Izzy and Hunter were watching her back. While Sam worked Bobbie was keeping Yelena company in the gym, they had a lot of sparing sessions and Bobbie was eager to learn new moves. Yelena was wanting to leave the house but her wolf was not ready yet so Bobbie was teaching her some control methods the two of them were getting rather close. Maria had planned on running as a pack at the end of the week after they closed the case Ellie was working on. Coulson was back at the Triskelion while repairs were being made to the bus so his team was being stationed there for now giving Skye some time to work with the enhanced individuals with Lincolns help. Pietro, Wanda and Alex were back in New York at the Avengers compound.
"Ellie is meeting Mr X." Natasha informed them over the link, Hunter was tense as he watched his mate go into a building with an armsdealer they had very little information on. They made their way towards the garage where they were meant to be doing the deal.
"Mr X, someone has watched too many movies." Izzy mumbled
'Can you send me a photo?' Sam asked across the link surprising Natasha that she reached out.
'Izzy's getting the photo now, are you meant to be on this?'
'I might have something, I just need the photo.' Sam replied she was still at the pack house and had found something discouraging if this was connected to Ellie's case this might be bigger then they first thought. Several photos were sent through to Sam and she couldn't help but feel the pit in her stomach open as she saw how many men came with this Mr X, he was still in the car and Izzy could not get a good angle on him. As she looked at the photos something did not feel right.
'Nat you need to move in now.' Sam nearly screamed over the link, Natasha did not even hesitate she was moving as was the others. 'Ellie get back, step away from them now!' Sam shouted in her sisters head.
'What is it?' Maria asked Sam not understanding what had spooked Sam.
'Look at the readings.' Sam told her, she had accessed SHIELD's feed and was looped in on what they were seeing at the Triskelion.
'They are normal.' Maria stated
'Exactly, we know he has one weapon with him, we should be reading that at least.' Sam stated she wanted to go, to get there but she knew that there was nothing she could do from here and if she was to leave by the time she got there it would be over. So Sam did the next best thing, she hacked into anything and everything around them. Gathering data and information, trying to solve the puzzle that was before her. Sam was freaking out as she watched the fight take place. Hunter was trying to make his way towards Ellie who was caught between two cars. She could not make it towards the others. Natasha, Izzy and Clint were covering her so no one would get too close to her. Noah was dead on the ground as were a couple of others but Sam did not care about them. The car drove off when the gunfight started and Sam was tracking it, she couldn't believe that Nat and Clint let it leave only then did she notice that both Trip and Sharon were following the car but not pursuing it. They were going to see where the car was going. Maria knew this was a possibility she had backup plans in place if things went south. Between Nat and Clint they made little work of the gunmen left behind, it taking longer than normal as they were using some rather advanced weapons. Hunter had made it to Ellie and was moving her away from the fight with Izzy covering them leaving the clean up to Nat and Clint.
"What's going on?" Bobbie asked entering her lab she had felt Sam's distress, Yelena was behind her.
"He wasn't there to buy the weapon he was there to clean house." Sam stated with a groan "Something spooked him." She added before she started typing again. "AIMEE follow that car." She instructed the AI as she focused on something else.
"How did you know?"
"I may have put something on your phones, the energy read out was different to the one SHIELD was receiving." Sam explained "When Izzy sent through the photos…it gave me access." Sam stated
"She won't be happy about that." Bobbie replied at this Sam shrugged
"It kept them safe." Sam defended "There." Sam stated showing her a line of code but on this Bobbie did not know what she was seeing.
"Okay what am I looking at?"
"We are not the only ones paying attention to this area. Someone else has hacked it and is feeding fake data in return." Sam stated as if obvious.
"Can you trace it?" Yelena asked at this Sam smiled.
"No." Sam replied
"Why are you smiling then?"
"Because I have seen this encryption before. We have found our link." Sam stated
"Link to what?" Bobbie asked but, on this Sam waved off her questions, as her attention returned to the screen.
Maria was looking over the data that Sam had gathered and sent to her, Sharon and Trip were waiting outside the building that Mr X had entered as the agents around her worked on identifying the men that had been killed by Nat and Clint. Izzy was with Ellie and Hunter both keeping a close eye on her making sure she was fine this seemed to be annoying her but she didn't say anything as they waited for their next move. Maria did not want to move in without more information, she had already sent her people into an ambush if Sam hadn't of figured it out Ellie might have joined Noah in autopsy.
"You going to share what's going on in that head of yours?" Natasha asked looking over at Maria they were currently in her office, Clint was lounging on her sofa waiting for his next order.
"We should have known it was an ambush." Maria mumbled
"We had plans in place, we were ready." Natasha pointed out
"Yes but Ellie…"
"Is fine." Natasha interrupted her at this Maria turned to look at her with an unreadable expression. "She is with Lance and Izzy right now down the hall." Natasha added as she looked over at Clint for support.
"Yeah and even Sam checked in on her before returning to the den." Clint added the den was what Sam called the game room, it had the best connection and it was sound proof. Maria had made sure Bobbie was keeping an eye on her though she recognised the look in her eyes and all they could do now was wait for her to solve whatever problem was going on in her head.
"Are you going to accept the transfer?" Natasha asked it was all part of the plan that Maria and Nick set in motion keeping rather tightly lipped about whatever they had going on only Ellie seemed to be in the loop.
"If they accept it, Gibbs won't be too happy when he realises what we did."
"You had their Directors support." Natasha stated even though she did not know the details she could guess what the plan had been.
"We solved one problem, now we have another."
"We have dealt with the navy contacts, we can deal with the rest."
"You know Gibbs and even Ellie won't let this go she has agreed to the transfer as we planned but this leaves us with more questions then answers. Why did they need to steal navy weapons when they are the ones supplying the weapons?"
"Are we sending in agents?"
"We've tried that, we lost contact with them. If I knew this case was linked I never would have asked Ellie to do this."
"How many agents?"
"5, after the first few weeks we lost contact and have not heard from them again."
"Do you think they are dead?"
"I don't know."
"Nick is wanting to send in one of us, but I am not sure on that move."
"Why not, we will get answers that way, I can volunteer." Natasha stated
"No, he was thinking either Izzy or Sharon but I refused." Maria replied
"Why?" Natasha asked now concerned Maria would normally cater to whatever Fury wanted but she was being hesitant now.
"There is something about this company that has my instincts telling me to hold off." Maria replied when she had searched for the missing agents and found nothing on them as if they had simply disappeared from earth she started suspecting maybe they had. They knew they were making deals with aliens, that they were getting weapons but what were the aliens getting out of it?
