Chapter 4
She's our friend and She's crazy!

That night, a shadowy figure walked through the garden...

Upon taking a closer look, it has been revealed to be Cassandra in disguise. She headed to the wall, and reached up to it, beginning to climb it. But, she is then tugged from behind by Tiger.

Cassandra glanced down, raising her brows. "Oh, I'm sorry, Tiger. But I can't stay here and have my life lived for me." She told him, then began trying to climb again; "I'll miss you..." She added a bit sadly. She is helped up by Tiger. "Goodbye!" She waved, disappearing over the wall, Tiger whimpering and whining...

The next day, on the street, Varian and Ruddiger are up to their capers yet again. But this time, instead of running through the streets with a stolen loaf of bread, they are on top of an awning of a fruit stand. Waiting patiently, Varian finally whispered; "Okay, Ruddiger. Go!"

Ruddiger dipped over the edge and looked at the shopkeeper.

The shopkeeper shouted to the people passing by, "Try this, your taste buds will dance and sing." Ruddiger grabbed a melon and hung there, getting his attention. "Hey, get your paws off that." The shopkeeper noticed and glared.

Ruddiger stuck his tongue out and tittered mockingly at the man.

"Why, you- Get away from here, you filthy raccoon!" He grabbed the melon away from Ruddiger, sticking the melon to the front of the stall. But in the foreground, Varian dipped down and snatched another melon from the stand. Ruddiger waved at the shopkeeper, making a chatter that sounded something similar to the words "Bye bye." And he went back up to the awning.

The shopkeeper took the melon to the front, where he placed it on top of the stack. He looked around confused, like he had just did this...

Up on one of the roofs, the two had escaped.
Varian smiled, "Nice goin' Ruddiger. Breakfast is served."

Varian and Ruddiger on the roof broke open the melon and ate it...

Meanwhile, Princess Cassandra was walking through the street.

The shopkeepers shouted many little lines and announcements to her while she passed by, "Pretty lady, buy a pot. No finer pot in brass or silver."

"Sugar dates, sugar dates and figs! Sugar dates and pistachios!"

"Would the lady like a necklace. A pretty necklace for a pretty lady."

She is charmed by the actions of these shopkeepers, but is startled by a fish thrust into her face by the fourth one, "Fresh fish! We catch 'em, you buy 'em!"

Cassandra awkwardly laughed and backed away, "I don't think so." She backed away, but bumped into a fire eater, who is startled into swallowing his fire. "Oh, excuse me." Cassandra held at her cloak. He swallows and then belches fire from his mouth.

Cassandra... is disgusted.

Varian saw her, and a strange look came over his face.

Cassandra apologized to the fire eater, "I'm really very sorry."

Varian, obviously deeply in love with her, murmured. "Wow."

Cassandra pulled the hood of her cloak over her head and headed off down the streets once more. Ruddiger saw Varian staring and jumped up on his shoulder, waving his paw in front of Varian's face, making little titters and chatters, trying to get his attention.

Cassandra stopped at the fruit stand and noticed a young homeless child reaching for a piece of fruit. So, she picked one up and gave it to him. "Oh, you must be hungry. Here you go." The boy nodded as a thank you and ran off. But...the shopkeeper...

"You'd better be able to pay for that." He said aggressively.

Cassandra, mystified; spoke. "Pay?"

"No one steals from my cart." The shopkeeper said even more aggressively.

"Oh, I'm sorry sir. I don't have any money." Cassandra backed away a little bit.

"Thief!" He spat. Cassandra was getting nervous, maybe this wasn't a good idea. She could try and punch him, after all, she had did that to one of the princes... No, no, not worth it. "Please, if you let me go to the palace, I can get some from the Sultan." She began to say. "Do you know what the penalty is for stealing?" The shopkeeper asked.

Suddenly, he took her hand and pinned it down onto the stall, pulling out a sword.

Cassandra's eyes widened, "No, no please-" She tried to tug away from him.

The sword dropped... But it was stopped by Varian, grabbing the guy's hand. "Thank you kind sir. I'm so glad you've found her!" He said in a thankful way, moving the sword away from her and taking her hand away from the stall. He looked to her and pointed at her, "I've been looking all over for you." He said, frowning in a slight disappointed look.

Cassandra whispered, confused, yet curious. "What are you doing?"

Varian winked and whispered back, "Just play along~"

The shopkeeper raised his brow, "You know this girl?"

Varian sighed and leaned on the stall with his elbow. "Sadly, yes. She is my sister."

"She's a little crazy." He circled his finger around his ear, and Cassandra is indeed, shocked and a bit offended. The shopkeeper grabbed Varian by the vest, "She said she knows the Sultan."

Varian snickered and replied snarkily, "She thinks the raccoon is the Sultan."

Ruddiger was picking a pocket, but upon hearing this, he straightened up. Cassandra, playing along, knelt down and bowed to Ruddiger. "Oh, wise Sultan. How may I serve you?" Cassandra said, bowing. Ruddiger smirked and then tittered, sounding like he was giving orders.

Varian frowned, "Tragic, isn't it?" He leaned forward, picking up an apple from the cart with his foot and placing it on the stall. "But, no harm done."

He then walked over to Cassandra, "Now come along sis. Time to see the doctor." He then pushed her a bit, Cassandra still playing along, looked to a camel and spoke, "Oh, hello doctor. How are you?"

Varian cracked a smile, but had to fight laughter. "No, no, no. Not that one."

He looked to Ruddiger, whose vest pockets are bulging. "Come on, Sultan."

Ruddiger bowed to the crowd and everything he's stolen from the cart fell out. "Huh? What's that-" The shopkeeper noticed. Ruddiger picked up what he can carry, and the trio ran off.

The shopkeeper shouted, "Come back here, you little thieves!"
