I don't own Overlord it was owned by the original author
A/N: I decided to continue with this project, but I will give a warning! I haven't improved my grammar at all so this work is still bad.
I will also put some OC as villains and supporting characters but they will not appear in more than 1 Arc so you don't need to remember them.
Also many complain about the friendly fire explanations so I retcon that part in this chapter, that said it is just minor detail that will not come up again.
Last I put some information about Ainz's current races at the bottom of the chapters, unfortunately for the World Class Job I plan to hide it for now.
Prologue 2: Satoru Meet Keno
Yggdrasil, was once a very popular DMMORPG that boasts the freedom of choice that players are able to take inside the game. However, as time went by and more games provide a similar system, Yggdrasil lose out its popularity, especially since the Game Makers themselves rarely did any updates.
Now it was in a very pathetic state where even on its last days before the complete shutdown, only a few Players bother to log in.
One of them is a game veteran called Momonga, leader of the famous Guild called Ainz Ooal Gown, and a Player said to have unlocked the final evolution of Undead and mastered the most spell in Yggdrasil even spells outside of his own class. It was even rumored that his special race allow him to add slots for Super Tier Magic, but it was never confirmed by other Players.
He is currently sitting on the Throne, located on the 10th Floor of Nazarick, the Guild base of Ainz Ooal Gown, just waiting for the game to end, and return to the reality he hated. As the clock showed 00:00:00, he prepare himself mentally to leave and return to the reality he hated...
It didn't happen...
"Huh?"
Suddenly his surroundings sight change into that of the ruin of some sort middle age city that comes from Europe, which he often sees in the video. It is also a common field in Yggdrasil, which is also heavily influenced by European culture.
"Where is this? Is this some sort of bug?"
He was supposed to have logged out, as the game ended, and yet for whatever reason he is now in an unknown location, all he has now are the items that he wore before the transfer which includes the Guild Weapon. He begin to look around once more, and he soon noticed something strange.
"Should I call the GM, just to confirm? Huh? Where is the controller?!"
Momonga moved his finger with the intention of moving the controller, but he begin to notice the invisible in-game controller. It was the sole controller of the game that allow him to use the in-game menu which allows him to use spells/skills, log out, and contact the GM. The fact that it was gone means that Momonga is stuck, unable to return to reality.
He began to panic and started to move weirdly, but mysteriously somehow mid those panic he managed to calm down somehow. Unknown to him at this time his Mind Suppression skill has helped him to calm down.
(Calm down. Calm down me. Fuu, Okay I managed to collect myself, for now, let's think about what is exactly going on here.)
Momonga then decided to make several possible scenarios inside of his head to explain his current situation:
1. As expected this is a bug of a game that happened due to an error when the game was about to shut down, which resulted in a Player like Momonga being stuck inside.
2. This is a dream, Momonga somehow fell asleep and dreamed of having an adventure in the Yggdrasil field.
3. He died and transferred into another world like all those novels he read.
All seems unlikely, especially the third, but unfortunately, he can't fully deny it either. Especially since...
(No matter how you think of it that sky is too real.) Thought Momonga as he look upward at the beautiful night sky
A sky from all clouds of pollution where stars and moonlight, shine brightly illuminating the darkness of night. The clean air of the world and the coldness of the wind, are all too real. Even with the progress of Virtual World CGI, it is often hard to depict the beauty of nature itself. Especially in the 22nd Century, most people never even know what the clear sky looks like except through video. His friend Punitto Moe has often tried to recreate at least the look of the sky itself but even he fails to create a sight like this.
There is no way a random game developer of Yggdrasil would have the funds to be able to recreate something like this.
"For now, regardless of what is the case, I guess it is better to move. [Fly]"
Momonga decided to try to cast a flight spell via casting, although he loses his controller he for some reason can somewhat feel his mana, and that alone allow him to utilize his spell. Another reason to back his assumptions this is not just inside the game or dream.
It took him a slight while to get used to the feeling of floating, but soon enough he gain control and decide to fly high in the sky to get the full view of the surrounding.
Coming to view are the countless ruins of ancient buildings that look as if they are crumbling, stretched for several Kilometers over, the place seems to be a city of some ancient civilizations. It must have been a quiet big city as you can see a road and even a castle in the distance, but whatever happened in the city now it was just ruin filled with Undead.
The city is filled with lower-level Ghoul, Wraith, and even Skeletons, it almost reminds Momonga of the newbie field in Yggdrasil.
Still...
(Are there no human Necromancer or at least intelligent Undead nearby? If there is at least one, maybe I can ask about where is this place..)
Normally in Yggdrasil field filled with Undead like this would be bound to draw attention from Necromancers and Liches, this sort of NPC serves as a surprise enemy for newbies who focused too much on hunting down the weak mob. If the same rule applies here, then maybe Momonga can find someone to help him out.
Thinking like that Momonga decided to put extra effort to search, and he decide to fly to several places, while try looking for any magical reactions, unfortunately, nothing show up.
No matter where he looks there are only Non-intelligent Undead around here.
Either there is no one here, or they decided to hide from Ainz for whatever reason.
"*Sigh* Looking around like this wouldn't do any good, I don't want to use Magic fearing the possibility of the counter spell but it couldn't be helped. [Search]."
Activating his spell, he try to pinpoint any possible intelligent life form or Undead, Momonga fear the spell might not activate properly or even countered but thankfully he managed to find some reactions
It was close by, approximately 1 Km from Momonga's current position.
Confirming the position Momonga flew in that direction immediately, he can choose to teleport directly but he doesn't want to take the risk the entity will be hostile to him.
"Is this the place?"
Flying for several minutes, he arrived at the old mansion that barely standing, all the windows of the mansion already broke, the roof already has so many holes and the door of the mansion is wide open. Still one can't judge a book from its cover so Momonga used some spell to detect any possibility of magic disguising the place, but nothing show up. It really is just a run-down mansion.
Confirming this fact Momonga decides to enter the old mansions, and right as he enters he noticed a statue of a little girl holding a crystal in its hands.
However, through the spell [Search] he immediately realizes that the statue is the one he is looking for.
"Is this some sort of Golem? No, vaguely I can sense a negative aura so it is most likely a Vampire or Zombie. Why is she stuck in a petrification state then? Hm, that crystal is. [Third Eyes]"
Curiously he tries to use a spell of [Third Eyes] high-level spell that allows him to see through Item and Player status, on the Crystal and immediately nodded.
"I see, so she used that faulty Magic Crystal that will also attack its owner. She sure is unlucky."
According to the GM, the crystal was made by a mysterious NPC back in Yggdrasil who sold this to the Player via Merchants NPC, it was made with the intention to troll the newbie Player or something. Although most Veterans will not fall for it, Newbies unable to discern the crystal will end up using the crystal and have it blown up on their faces. It was pretty funny stuff to see for a veteran, but for a newbie, it is nothing but evil trap.
"As for the girl herself…—! What the?! A True Vampire! Impossible she looks exactly like a human!"
This time Momonga uses the spell on the Undead girl.
The Undead Girl in front of Momonga as expected is low-leveled befitting a newbie player who got trolled by joke items, but the problem is the build of the girl.
Keno Fasris Invern Level (15)
Racial Level
True Vampire (5)
Job Level
Sorceress (7)
Vampire Princess (3)
Talent: Magic Copy
True Vampire that is the Race of the girl, the same one as the Guardian of Nazarick Shalltear.
A unique Race of vampires, and one of the many possible evolutions for a Vampire. One that is relatively considered crazy and uncontrollable, especially when it comes to sucking blood, as it will definitely kill the target without mercy,
However, what makes this race especially famous is how it looks.
Although many Vampire Races appear inhuman, most still somewhat carry human features but True Vampires look nothing like humans, they're closer to Lamprey, and the only way to get the human look is to spend a ridiculous amount of Data Crystal for cosmetic purposes. That is exactly what Peroroncino did to make Shalltear look like a beautiful young lady.
(Even ignoring her appearance, how did she gain this Race at such a Low Level? Also, what about this Talent?)
The next mystery is this Talent, from the information he can pull alone it seems to be a unique ability for a select few individuals. This is something Momonga never once heard before back in Yggdrasil and likely never exist. Unless there is some sort of Update Momonga didn't know he should have heard if there is a system where one Individual can gain a Unique Skill regardless of Race or Job Class.
(How is she end up with this kind of build? What about the Talent? Is it something you can attain?)
Curiosity begins to take over Momonga's mind, just like when he just started playing Yggdrasil all the way back when everything is unknown. He already planning to talk with her to ask where they are, but now that just become a must.
"Hopefully she will be willing to cooperate and answer all my questions. [Greater Dispel]"
—Shatter!
The stone covering the girl begins to crack, and once it's broken what came out is a little girl with long blonde hair and paled skin, one that looks exactly like the statue. The girl immediately opened her eye, and while she is shaking in shock she suddenly looked at Momonga and opened her mouth.
"Ah, llordi of the deatz. H-Hay tou cot to briit mi to the afterlii. (Ah, lord of the death. Have thou come to bring me to the after-life.)"
The girl said as she stuttered, as she had not used her mouth for a long time
If you had listened carefully you can still understand what she was saying, but Momonga hadn't expected that kind he girl to stutter her words like that.
(What the heck is she saying? Is she speaking some strange language? No, maybe she just stuttering for now let's talk with her.)
"It seems you're nervous."
"I-I'm sorri, G-Gods of Deaths I havenn't spoke fort a long timez. (I'm sorry, God of Death I haven't spoke for a long time.)"
This time the word is somewhat better if Momonga waits more, they will be able to have proper conversations.
(It is good, we can communicate but why is she calling me God of Death— Wait, I do look like one, huh.)
Momonga almost forgot what he looks like and was confused why the girl call him God of Death.
Back in Yggdrasil, he did modify his look to look as much as possible like some Divine Undead or something like that, this is especially true ever since he unlocked Ascended Overlord. However, because every Undead Player also goes for a similar look no one in Yggdrasil would call his look unique.
Although it was pleasant to have someone appreciating his looks, it is better to get rid of this misunderstanding early.
"You may take your time, no need to rush, but first I like to make one thing clear first."
"Y-Yeess?"
"I'm not God of Death I'm merely a Necromancer who has traveled into this land, and my name—…"
Momonga fell silent for a few seconds, he was not sure what to call himself.
Should he call himself Momonga just like back in Yggdrasil, no, this place is most likely not Yggdrasil. Despite his attachment to that world, he had no reason to use it here, where there are no Nazarick nor his friends. In that case, maybe he can just use that name, a name that was given by a woman who he considers a precious family even after her death, the name that was given by his mother.
"...Suzuki Satoru. You may call me Satoru. Now, if possible I like you to answer several questions of mine." Said Satoru to the Vampire girls
0000
The Vampire girl introduced herself as Keno, a former human, and Princess of the Inveria Kingdom, the exact place we are standing now.
How it was a small country at the centre of the Continent, surrounded by many nations and different races.
How it suddenly fell due to a spell used by an unknown entity, which turned all her citizens into unintelligent Undead thanks to it.
How only she retains her ego because she used her Talent to cast the spell herself, which confirm that the spell is done to turn certain "entity" into vampires.
How she research to reverse the effect of the spell but fail due to a lack of material.
Finally, how she clashes with Adventurer who attacked her citizen and end up petrified for at least 200 years, how does she know? she counted as that is the only other thing she can do.
"T-That is the end of my story, sir."
"I see." That was the only response Satoru make after hearing Keno's story.
Keno's story is very hard to believe.
Satoru never once heard any spell to turn someone into True Vampire at such a low level, much less one with a side effect to turn all surrounding people into mindless Undead. It simply defies the logic that Satoru knows, but Satoru knows she is not lying.
Just in case Satoru cast [Silent Magic: Discern Lies], and nothing came up, means her story is either true or at the very least what Keno truly believes happen.
(…Pitiful.)
That was what Satoru thought after he calmly absorb all the information and confirmed its truth.
Not only she losing her family in the most unreasonable way she had to face many misfortunes in an attempt to save them, and at the end of such a struggle, she is trapped in a petrification state for over 200 years.
Unable to see or hear anything, she was trapped inside a stone in time that felt like forever, hoping someone came to save her. But knowing no one coming she fell into despair unable to do anything else.
All there is a sense of time flying, as everything around her crumbling.
Even by the standard of his original world, Satoru has confidence that not many people can be as unlucky as her. That is why even for Satoru who normally ignore dying people on the street, felt pity toward her.
"S-Satoru-sama, I-I know we just met, but may I make a request." Keno with trembling voices
"What is it? Also, you don't need to put "sama" at the end, like I said I'm neither God nor your lord."
Satoru decides to listen to Keno's request, leaving aside whether or not he can grant it, he decided to at least hear her request. This chil— No, Keno is someone who had answered many of his questions willingly herself so he is at least listening to a simple request.
However, he soon regrets saying this recklessly.
"Y-Yes, that is, if-if possible I would like if you can kill me?"
"—! Why are you asking that?" Satoru said trying to speak calmly
"That-that is, my family are most likely dead by now. In order to join them, all I can do is die, but I'm afraid to commit suicide myself…so."
"…"
Satoru was stunted by this sudden request, never before in his life he has been asked to help someone suicide before. Although he had met someone who said they rather died than continue to live in that hell hole of 22nd century, just how many of them actually wanted to die for real?
Death is every living being instinctually fears as we never know what happens after death. What if there is nothing beyond death? Wouldn't it be better to continue living even if it is hell? Such are the thoughts of a normal person.
However, Keno is far from normal.
She had suffered so much in her life, way more than anyone could possibly imagine. Now that she had no goal of saving her family left, what left for her is a chance to die.
For her, death is definitely a mercy, and Satoru is able to do it very easily. Yet…
Upon seeing her eyes, Satoru was reminded of an old memory.
The memory of his old self helplessly holding the corpse of his mother and wishing to die to follow her right after, that image makes him unable to make clear judgment…
(…I can't kill her. She shouldn't die like this. If I really must kill her, I need to at least do something for her.)
Deciding his next course of action Satoru decides to speak to Keno…
"…I understand, Keno if that is indeed what you wish I will grant it—"
"Th-then—"
"—But before that. I would like you to come with me to see your old home. It is the castle at the center of this city, right?"
"Eh? Wh-Why?"
Hearing the condition Satoru made, Keno shows fear on her face.
She is scared.
It had been 200 years, and she don't expect her home to be in one piece, which she had accepted but she has no confidence she can bear looking her home destroyed.
However, Satoru ignores her reactions and continues…
"If you're going to die either way, how about we confirm just one more time whether or not your family still there waiting for you as Undead somewhere inside that castle? If there is indeed no survivor, I promise that I will kill you."
Such words came from Satoru's mouth.
0000
Bringing Keno in his arm Satoru flew up in the sky heading toward Inveria Royal family castle.
Located at the very center of the city, it was a building very big you can see them from anywhere in the city
It takes less than a minute for them to arrive, and Satoru decided to land just at the gate of the castle.
This officially marks the return of Keno to her family castle for the first time in the past 200 years.
In a way, it should have been a happy event, but Keno who sees her home for the first time in the past 200 years can only widen her eye in disbelief.
(…This is! Is this really my home?!)
Before she was petrified the castle had been very dirty due to a lack of people cleaning it, but it was still standing tall. Befitting a castle where the royal family would reside, and many of her former servant turned Undead would roam the area mimicking what they did while they were alive.
Now it is just rubble.
Although the structure of the castle itself still maintain, it now has many holes in the wall and on it's roof. The garden outside the castle looks as if someone dig something from it, and then burn everything out of frustration. The training grounds for the knights were more or less the same.
The Servants who used to roam here are all gone, making the place pretty much empty, the exception would be random skeleton soldiers that is most likely natural-born undead.
"It seems the place had been raided by the adventurer."
"Ah-Ah, yes!" Keno replied heavily
"That is to say the inside might be different, let's go inside."
Satoru said that to Keno, and begin to walk inside the castle, but in the end even the inside was not spared.
The dining room where she used to eat with her parent are destroyed.
The throne at the throne room is stolen along with all jewelry there.
The ballroom, the conference room, the office, the library, every single of it is destroyed.
"Ah! Ah! AAAHHH!"
Keno screams at the sight of this all.
She can't bear it.
How could she? This is the home where she was raised, and the place where all her beloved people live with. Seeing destroyed like this hurt her feeling but what is worse, is the fact that this sight further confirmed that every single one of the people she knew is all dead, not even as Undead.
Even if she had intended to fully accept that her home was long gone in her mind seeing it for herself is giving her even further despair. It hurt so much that even as Undead she was unable to control her emotions.
"It seems no one you know is in this building side, maybe if we to the other wings—"
"WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS?! WHY DID YOU BRING ME HERE?!" Keno shouted to Satoru
Satoru is a strong being, beyond what Keno possibly imagined that is something she can tell by her skin. There is also the fact he is Keno's savior which is why she never dreams or dares to scream at Satoru normally.
But she still screams at him.
"Why don't you just kill me?! I-I don't want to see all this." Keno said as tears begin to flow from her eyes
"…I already said I will kill you only after we confirm no survivor left inside this castle. We only check a small part of this castle we need to check a bit more." Satoru said coldly
"I already knew! I already knew! All my family is dead! Within that 200 years I was petrified I can at least feel people coming into this city and attacking all the citizens several times! There is no way there is any survivor left after these 200 years! Just kill me so I can reunite with them!"
"…But you didn't see their death either, right?"
"T-That! But still!"
"Keno, I think you misunderstand something."
"Yes?"
"You claim that you wish to reunite with your family in the afterlife, but what if there is no such thing as the afterlife?"
The concept of an afterlife is a mystery even in the advanced world of 22nd Century, no one knew for sure if it even existed which is why people fear death. In Yggdrasil lore, it was a bit more straightforward, Players are revived by the system while NPC souls send into Limbo where they basically just wait for someone to revive them, it is a mystery whether or not souls can even communicate with each other or not.
"—That is."
"…At the end of the day, no one knew for sure what happen to the death. If you still wish to meet your family, it is better for you to continue to live and keep looking for them. That is the surest way possible for you to even able to meet with your family."
Keno didn't truly wish for death for a peaceful end where no longer pain to come, what she wishes is a naïve wish to reunite with her family. Even after all the torture she suffered all she wishes for is that simple wish. Thus, he thinks it was wrong for him to just kill her without even looking for any survivors first.
"—B-But if there is no survivor at all…"
"Then, you can try to find a new reason to live. Like revenge against the monster who destroys your nation. Finding new friends. Or any other stuff. But…"
Satoru suddenly stop and lower his body so his eye met with Kenos.
"…If there is indeed nothing left for you, then at that time I promise I will kill you."
He then gets up once more and started to walk.
Keno was a stunt by his words, and for a moment she is not sure whether or not to follow him.
Honestly, she almost gave up inside her heart but then she reminded Satoru of words.
"If you still wish to meet your family, it is better for you to live and keep looking for them"
She initially thought it was very arrogant of Satoru to speak like that to her, it was not like Satoru knew just how much she had suffered.
But at the same time, she also acknowledged that the words carry some truth.
In the end, no one knew what happen after death, there is no guarantee she can meet her family again just by being dead. In that case, maybe it is indeed better to at least try once more.
(…Let's try looking for a bit more.)
Deciding that she begin to walk following Satoru back.
0000
In the end, Keno and Satoru continue to walk inside the old castle just the two of them.
But there is an awkward silence between the two, after their previous talk, they did still exchange a few words with each other but outside the absolute necessary they didn't even make eye contact.
(It's awkward, should I say something? But what if she got angry instead? I wonder if I'm being too selfish bringing her with me?)
(Wh-what should I do? Did I speak too harshly before? Should I apologize? But what if he gets angry?)
Both had made attempt in their head trying to dispel this silence, but out of fear, no word came out of their mouths. In the end, the two decide to not make things more awkward and shut their mouth.
Despite that Satoru continues walking together with Keno.
They had been looking nearly everywhere, but so far Keno didn't find anyone she was familiar with.
Still, they continue walking, and then they arrived at a certain hall, a hall Keno was very familiar with.
"There seems to be a door at the end of the hall, what lies beyond that?" Satoru asked Keno
"That is my room. Specifically, it was my study room, one where I used to study with my teacher, I also used the room to enjoy afternoon snacks with my handmaiden."
Keno still vividly remembers the memory of her childhood when she was just a princess. Studied magic for the sake of her people together with her teacher and once finish she would enjoy a small snack with her handmaiden Natasha.
A beautiful big sister who had always been together with her and always listened to her selfish desire. Except for her parents, she was without a doubt her closest ally.
"…Let's take a look at that room first before we move to other places."
"Y-Yes."
The two of them then walk to the door of the room, and once they arrive, Satoru turned the handle and opens the door to the room.
Surprisingly the room furniture is still inside the room, it may have been dusty and have many cracks but at the very least this room seems to be one of the few lucky rooms that are not raided by the people who seem to have come here.
Still, the room is pretty much the same as other rooms, not a single—
"Eh?"
"Hoh… it seems I was right after all."
Just when Keno thought the room is emptied, she notices a shadow of someone, Keno thought it was just random Undead so she didn't pay much attention at first. But…
(…No way, a-am I dreaming? What kind of miracle is this?)
Standing on the balcony of the room is a woman who looked to be in her early 20s with very empty eyes, with long blond hair like Keno. Wearing an old maid outfit that are already very dusty and full of rips and dirt. She is seating on a chair silently as if she is waiting for someone else to come for her.
She knew who she is, one of her precious family, it's…
"…Na-Natasha!"
Shouting the name of the maid, she immediately heads to the side of the maid and hugged her.
The maid showed no reaction, but that is fine for her being able to see her is more than enough.
Seeing this sight Satoru smiled internally, and calmly waited for Keno to stop crying.
0000
It took a while, but Keno finally settled down her feeling, the tear, and emotion she can't let out for the past 200 years, she let it all out. With that done she finally let go of Natasha and look at Satoru who is still waiting at the door of the room looking after her.
She was slightly embarrassed having someone looking at her crying like a child, but before being embarrassed another feeling win out. Right, there should have been something she should have been saying to this man.
She walked to Satoru and lowered her head.
"Satoru-san, really-really thank you. It was thanks to you I'm able to meet with Natasha again, if you had listened to my request, it wouldn't have been possible."
Keno thanked Satoru from the bottom of her heart.
From saving her from petrification, stopping her suicides, and even founding Natasha for her.
Even if she becomes a slave for Satoru, she doubts she can ever repay this debt. That is just how much Keno owes this man.
"…No, I have done nothing you need to be grateful for. In the end, I was just doing it for myself."
This is the truth, Satoru in the end just helps Keno because can't bear seeing someone that reminded him of his past self, dies just like that. Even the act of saving Keno from her petrification was initially done so Satoru can gain information about these places.
"…Still. I'm grateful to you, sir. I'm really thankful."
"…I see." Satoru said in response
The expression of the Overlord itself didn't change, but Keno can feel from the voices of Satoru that he was happy.
(…He really is kind.)
Such was Keno's impression of Satoru.
"Keno, if I may ask."
"Y-Yes?"
"What is your plan now?"
"Plan? Ah!"
Keno almost forgot about it, she had initially intended to die but now that she met Natasha again, that doesn't seem to be the right choice.
"…I think, maybe I can find the remaining survivor or my nations just like Natasha, and once that is done maybe I can continue research to undo the Magic that turns them into Undead, or at the very least return their consciousness."
Keno is not sure that it will work, but it was better than doing nothing.
"…I see. Then, Keno may I suggest something?"
"Yes?"
"How about you join me on my travel?"
"Eh? Y-You want me to join in your travel Satoru?"
"Yes. As I already said before, I'm a traveler who just arrived here. I don't know anything about this area, so it will be nice if I can have a travel companion. I believe this is also profitable for you, as maybe during my travel we can gather information about the spell used on your people. It had been 200 years there are probably people outsides who have studied the cases. What do you think?"
Said Satoru at Keno who widen her eye.
She never thinks Satoru would offer something like that, after all, she herself had been trapped for 200 years, so she doubt she will be much help to Satoru.
Yet, despite being aware of that Satoru still offered her to be his companion.
This makes her happy, it's been so long since she has someone being this nice to her, but…
(I can't leave Natasha alone…) Keno thought as she moves her sight to Natasha…
Satoru is immediately aware of what Keno wants to say, spoke first…
"We can bring your maid with us, or if you fear bringing her outside out of fear of losing her, how about we create this place as a small base so we can return anytime here via teleportation? We can even create a barrier so in case anyone coming here we will know."
"…You able to do that?"
Keno was surprised by this, but soon enough she was convinced by the talk, Satoru is strong she can tell that by the huge Mana Satoru had.
At the very least she assumes Satoru should be able to cast way above 8th-tier spells and that is likely lowballing it.
For such a person protecting this place and even teleporting her back anytime will likely be an easy task.
"If that is possible, I will definitely follow your travel Satoru, but… why are you doing all this for me? I'm just a useless girl, without any power. I doubt I will be able to repay you."
This is the one thing Keno didn't get why Satoru so willingly helped her like this.
They just met today, and even by chance Satoru somehow actually pity her it still doesn't make sense for him to willingly help her out to such an extent.
That is why she can't help but ask, but to that Satoru only says this…
"Hm… well at the start it was definitely pity towards you, but the reason I want you as a companion is slightly different."
"Is there anything else?"
"Would you believe it if I told you that I want a friend that I can trust?"
This is Satoru reason to help out Keno.
Sure, helping her out to find any survivor may have been something he did out of pity for the girls, but even beyond that Satoru had been attached to this girl. In this new world where he doesn't know anyone, it would be better if he can at least have a companion he can talk to, preferably one he can call a friend.
"I-Is that really it?" Keno asked slightly surprised at the reason.
"Is that not a good enough reason?"
"No, that is not what I meant, but is it okay for me to be one of your friends?"
"Of course, I'm the one asking after all. So?"
"T-Then, please take care of me Satoru."
Keno said that and extended her arm to Satoru.
That was the start of the friendship between these two Undead.
0000
A few days after that Keno and Satoru make a few preparations for them to leave.
First, using one of his items Satoru created a barrier around the castle this is done to ensure no one they didn't know will enter the place.
Next, Keno and Satoru try to find other survivors, surprisingly there are still a few more survivors. Satoru and Keno decide to create some Underground shelter to house them away from people's sight. Natasha is specially placed in a very strong barrier so no one can enter easily.
Last is Satoru idea, using his Necromancy skills decided to control all the Low-Level Undead in the area, the purpose is to make sure they protect the castle and the city from any intruders. Satoru thought it will be hard at first, but thankfully thanks to them being low level it was pretty easy.
After finishing all that, they were finally ready to move.
"So, ready to go?"
"Yes."
Hearing Keno respond Satoru and Keno finally walk leaving the Capital City of Inveria.
That is the end of the current prologue personally I think I'm rushing it but hopefully, you guys can enjoy it.
Anyway here is Ainz/ Satoru's current races

SPOILER!
Ascended Overlord
Lore (Made up):
An Overlord that has attempted a terrible taboo of becoming a God purely through the use of Magic defying the law of the world. Although fail the Overlord has ascended to the simple status of a mere Undead no longer bounded by limitations you are born with.
Skill (Made up):
Wisdom of False Deities: Skill allowing Overlord to increase spell slot via sacrificing corpses, and allow Satoru to rob spell if the sacrifice happens to have Magic Spell in that class. At the same time, it allows the user to master any spell ignoring any class limitations and allows the Player to use all types of staff. (Basically Dark Wisdom but allow learning "All" type of spells. Plus able to use all sorts of Magic Staff)
False Divine Halo: A Halo of Ascended Overlord in Canon it was just cosmetic, but in my fanfic, it was a Skill. It gave protection from Holy and Bludgeon Damage which is the two weapons commonly used by Cleric. That said because the Undead are naturally weak to Holy and Bludgeon by nature this protection simply undid the simple class weakness. At best Satoru will have minor resistance to these two types of attacks unless he stacks it with equipment.
False Guise of Goods: Despite being Undead and having high Negative Karma, Momonga able to guise himself as a living being in a form he can somewhat control, and the guise fools the Karma the NPC can detect. It allows Momonga to enter City back in the game and unlock the quest for Good Karma Players. Also although limited Satoru can wear equipment with a Good Karma disposition.
This is all I will share for now, maybe in the future I will share more. Maybe even adding more skill depending on comments.
