Chapter 3: As Time Flies Pass

"We really should stop meeting like this." Enerjon says while smashing a villain's face in, "You say that, yet you don't seek me out beyond these circumstances." Fast Flow laughs as she bashes the skull of another villain. "You have yet to tell me your actual name Fast Flow, no real way to meet you except on the job." He counters while he blasts half a dozen villains into a wall using his Wide Spiralling Wave. "Besides, I don't mind either way." Enerjon finishes as he looks around, today they were busting down a minor Trigger production centre that an underground hero discovered. It was recently set up so the security is certainly not desirable for whoever is running this operation. Of course he was sent alone to investigate and to apprehend if it became clear they are part of the operation.

Didn't stop him from inviting his favourite vigilante.

"Lackluster security, I'm almost disappointed." Fast Flow remarks as they both enter the warehouse, they were lucky in the way that they were just about to make a shipment of Trigger to who knows who, so their first batch of the stuff is all in a van. "Rather quick for a first batch though." Enerjon notes, Trigger is usually made and distributed by the big criminal organisations. Thus hard to find and they unfortunately actually put in effort in ensuring their factories are protected. That doesn't stop others from trying their hand at producing the stuff though, these lucky bastards apprently cracked the formula and got a little excited in getting rich quick by selling loads of it. Luckily for us, they advertised it a bit too much and information spreads fast in the underground. "Perhaps they made a batch before they advertised that they are willing to sell." Fast Flow suggested before examining the van. It was nothing special, probably the most generic van you could get. "Well, time to call the calvary to clean all of this up." Enerjon says while waving his hands around. "You do that, Enerjon." Fast Flow says kindly while she prepares to leave.

"Same time same place tomorrow?"

"Of course, it hasn't changed for 2 years. Why would it change now?"

"Needed to check, never know if you wanted to pull a fast one on me."

"Haha very funny, I'll see you again Enerjon."

And so she left, police soon came and picked up the unconscious villains and confiscated the van and what it contains. Enerjon went straight home this time. It was a good night.

This became a cycle, a cycle of Enerjon and Fast Flow eliminating crime at night one crook at a time. It didn't take long when they started to truly trust each other.

Enerjon sat on the roof of an abandoned building, it was exceptionally pretty tonight. "It's nice, to just sit and relax for a bit." Fast Flow comments as she sits next to Enerjon. "Yeah... It truly is." Enerjon says before sighing. "We've been at this for... 4 years? Still so damn surprising that so much time has past. I almost can't remember the time I did hero work without you." Enerjon said. "It has been a long time Enerjon." Fast Flow replied, taking a deep breath before continuing. "For all of my life, I've wanted to make a change in the world. Didn't need to be a big change, just enough that someone's life can be slightly better." Fast Flow said, "So I did my job, my real one. It was never enough, I couldn't see how people benefit from my work. But this." She says while looking at herself, specifically he vigilante costume. "I could actively make lives better, by making sure they don't get ruined by the scumbags of this world. I don't want to lose this Enerjon." Fast Flow says before getting up and starting to leave. "I trust you... And maybe I want more from this relationship than just a partnership in crime fighting. Enerjon froze at that for a moment, did she know? Know that he's in love with her? "Come one Enerjon, you aren't as good at hiding your affection for me as you think you are. I never said anything because... I didn't know what it could mean." She shakes her head. "You're a professional hero, I'm just pretending to be one. If we get together, I'll put you at risk-" she said before being cut off.

"Why would you be risking me?"

"Our activities make many enemies Enerjon, I don't want to burden you if someone wants to get back at you by using me."

"Than we face that risk together, it's not much different from what we do now is it?"

...

"I love you Fast Flow, you know that. Apparently for awhile too."

"I'm nobody special, you're a professional hero. You deserve someone better."

"You are special to me, Fast Flow. I was a civilian at one point too. I'm not special either, just another hero in this world of heroes and villains. We're both normal in the grand scheme of things."

Enerjon grabbed her hand, "I don't care who you really are behind that mask. All I care is that it's still you.". Fast Flow stood still for a daunting few seconds. She started chuckling, "I've not been in a relationship since high school and that one lasted approximately a week, I won't be the best partner." She warned. "Ha! I've never been in a relationship since middle school, I'm less experienced than you are." Enerjon laughs and walk in front of Fast Flow. "Regardless, if you want this to happen, we can do it. There may be troubles and challenges but when has that ever stopped us?" Enerjon smiled as he said that. Fast Flow looked away, "Okay." She said, then wiggling out of his grasp and walking to the stairway that leads downwards.

"I'm Nara Kajou." She whispered softly, like she's afraid someone might hear her. Myaku grinned.

"And I'm Myaku. Myaku Chikari."

Time blurred past once they revealed the names of their civilian identities, through some effort they found each other and got together outside of work. Dates upon dates quickly occurred and soon their love for one another truly blossomed. Nobody knew of course, they both agreed that publicising their relationship is a bad idea. So they kept it that way, always being together out of costume and ensuring nobody makes the connection between them. Their relationship didn't stop them from their crime hunting at night, if anything it made it more personal everytime they fought criminals together. Sure sometimes they had their arguments, they weren't the perfect couple and sometimes it got bad enough that they wondered if maintaining this was worth it.

It always was.

Thus, for years they were satisfied with this, the endless cycle of dates, jobs and nighttime heroics. It didn't take long for them to want more, particularly one of them wanted to take this relationship to the next final level.

Myaku was nervous, sure he may have faced villains and enemies that may sometimes be stronger than he is but he was never as anxious as he is now. He prepared for a month, for this very moment. A private dinner at a fancy restaurant, a ring engraved with the promise they made so many years ago. He didn't dare mess it up. He fidgeted with his tie before walking into the room. His girlfriend sitting patiently as he took a seat, "What's with the fidgeting? Butterflies in the stomach?" She lovingly teased, "Perhaps, sometimes dating you is more stressful than apprehending villains." Myaku chuckled before he settled in. "I'm not that bad Myaku, besides what's with the fancy arrangements?" She asked curiosity while waiters delivered their meal for tonight. "What? Can't treat the woman of my life well?" He laughs as he picked up his cutlery. Nara didn't reply and simply ate the expensive food with Myaku doing the same.

For some time, they dined in comfortable silence. From time to time, they had some casual chit chat while they ate. Wine glass in hand, Nara said "We've been together for several years now, yet it feels like yesterday when I met you for the first time." Myaku sighs as he lifts his, "Time does fly pass, doesn't it?" He said before they clash the glasses together and drank the red wine stored with it. The music playing in the background suddenly grew a bit louder as they finished up, Nara looked around at that.

"Nara." Myaku began, catching the full attention of Nara across the table. "You've been with me for a long time now, long enough that it's hard to remember I time where it wasn't spent with you." He continued before getting up. "We've been through thick and thin, facing life's many challenges together. Sometimes facing literal challenges together." He said with a grin and walked towards Nara. "I think it's time, time to take the next step. That despite the many conflicts we had, you stick with me no matter what." He kneeled onto the floor as Nara's eyes widened in realisation. "The bond we share is something I will cherish till the day I die, for on this day I ask..." He spoke while Nara gasped with tears in her eyes.

"Will you marry me?"

It was a simple question, either yes or no. Nara considered for a long moment, was she ready to take the last step? Not only that, what does this mean for them? Does it mean that they have to publicize their marriage? Dating secretly is one thing but marriage is a tad harder to hide especially since her partner is still partially a daylight hero. Legal documentation and all that. "I-" she stuttered, taking a breath in and made a decision.

"I do."

Their marriage was a private one, far away from any eyes of reporters. Only inviting family and close friends, the affair was a quiet one. With little flair or any drama, their wedding came and went. A year passed without much happening.

The next year however, wasn't peaceful in many ways. Crime skyrocketed for awhile due to some stupid rumour of one of the Top 10 being badly injured after a battle. This made villains more daring, thinking that it'll be safer since one of the great titans of heroics had temporarily fallen. It wasn't, the rumour somehow spread fast and wide where it took some time for the actual facts to be released. Enerjon and Fast Flow had much to do, spending longer nights on patrols and crime elimination. Stress acclimated until a night they released all in some night time fun, that act unfortunately or fortunately, had some consequences.

Some time later, Nara fell ill and what thought to be an illness is actually the fact she's pregnant. Despite being married for little over a year, they did plan to have a family sooner rather than later. Preparations was made and so did some decisions, Nara couldn't be a vigilante anymore. It was too much of a risk, a pregnant woman shouldn't be going around chasing danger and villains. On that day, Fast Flow retired, she knew the day would come so she was prepared in a way.

She just wasn't expecting it so soon.

The months passed in a blink and soon she was rushed to a hospital where her husband was awaiting. In the room where it all happened, it was filled with blinding light as a boy was born on March 16th.

Specifically, Danji Kajou was finally born.

Author's Notes: Yeah I know this chapter is very short, especially with how long it took for me to write this one. Romance is hard to write man but anyways, next chapter is the last parent perspective chapter and we'll finally get the story started with a young Danji! How y'all are looking forward for it and thanks for reading. For the story continues in; CHAPTER 4: BIRTH OF A DUNGEON.
