Just a little something that came to my mind, which resulted in an extra chapter. Enjoy :)

The phone is ringing. It's about time. Luka has been waiting for it to do so for two days now since she left the clearing where she met Miku for the second time. She puts the book she was reading away and checks her phone to see an unknown number calling. Being almost entirely sure who the unknown person might be, she confidently answers the phone.

"Hello. This is Cotton Candy speaking." She doesn't expect the caller to be surprised or confused. From what little Luka knows about the blonde girl named Rin, Miku's friend, it's that she's not that type of person. She's straightforward, bold and confident.

"Cut the crap. You're Luka, aren't you?"

Luka smiles. It is Rin. Not wanting to immediately reveal the not-quite-secret fact that she is indeed Luka, she answers cryptically, "As the person calling, don't you find it a bit rude not to introduce yourself?"

"You just called yourself 'cotton candy' and ask me to properly introduce myself? Fine, I am Banana."

Luka laughs out loud. Lily was right. She really hit the jackpot with the duo playing her game. After all, it has been a while since someone was able to keep up with her way of words. Elated at the developments, she answers, "It's nice to meet you then, Banana. How can I help you?"

"You could start off by telling me what you're planning."

Luka hums and pretends to think for a moment, "Hmm, for now I am planning to have a relaxing evening at home and going to bed early to get some house work done tomorrow. Why do you ask?"

It's quiet for a moment before Luka hears the most exasperated sigh she's ever heard in her life. Maybe she should turn the teasing down a bit.

Nonetheless, Rin continues, "Luka, I know it's you, otherwise you wouldn't have answered the phone like you did and you'd have hung up on me already, so can you please stop being a smartass and tell me what you were planning with us?"

"Alright, I'll stop," Luka answers and goes on with her explanation about her game, "People get so caught up in their daily lives of work and studies that they don't stop to appreciate the little things around them. I wanted to let people find some moments of peace and for them to cherish their surroundings. Although with how you two sped through almost five of them in one day, it only worked partially, didn't it?"

Rin chuckles. "Maybe. But that doesn't explain why you gave me your number. And why this fact should stay secret to Miku."

"It doesn't have to stay secret anymore. I honestly expected you to call during the weekend, not two days later. And I admit, while the idea of wanting to show you two the little things in life stays the same, after meeting you twice and Miku three times, I have become quite enamoured with her and would very much like to pursue a romantic relationship with her."

Luka hears some muttered words from the other end of the line which she can't quite make out, but she's sure she heard the words "lucky bastard" somewhere in there. It takes a moment longer before Rin has (apparently) vented her frustrations and answers her once more.

"I still can't believe that Miku, the biggest disaster lesbian I have ever met, just gets a potential partner thrown right into her arms without even doing anything for it."

"I would say she did plenty, you two did climb a mountain after all."

"Right. Because that totally counts as 'romantic advances' towards another person and we totally knew that that was what she was going for. Anyway, what does all this have to do with me? Are you asking me for permission to ask her out?"

Luka laughs. "You would like that, would you not? But from what little I know of you and Miku, you already know what transpired yesterday, don't you?"

A heavy sigh comes from the other end of the line. "Yes, I do. So? What more do you want to discuss with me?"

"Well, your first thought of asking for permission wasn't entirely wrong. I can see that you two are important to each other and I don't think there's a chance of being with Miku without also being your friend. I am sure your opinion is important to Miku, which is why I wanted to speak with you to get to know you a little better. And also I still want to ask for your blessing."

"You are not wrong. But, at the end of the day, if Miku likes you, there's nothing I can do about it." Rin takes another pause before continuing, "But Luka, I swear, if you break her heart, I will hunt you down."

"That's fair, but I don't intend to disappoint. After all, popsicles and cotton candy go well together."

"One more smartass comment and I will reconsider everything I just said."

"Alright then, I would not want that either. Thank you Rin. See you soon."

"Yeah. You're welcome. Don't make me regret it."

"Don't worry. I will not."

"Alright. See you," And Rin hangs up.

Luka smiles. That went exceedingly well. With a content smile, she heads right into her recent phone calls and saves Rin's number to her contacts.

Only when she picks her book back up does she realise how long it's been since she felt like she does now; nervous, but very much excited. Anxious, but reassured as well. She's really looking forward to seeing her relationship with Miku develop.

Omake:

"Hello. This is Cotton Candy speaking."

"I'm sorry, did you say Cotton Candy? I am looking for a Megurine Luka and I am calling because of her application to the open job in our company."

"Oh."
