"Pick a song, Fraulein," said Klavier, handing the songbook to Ema. She made a face and took a sip of her drink.
"How about I just keep drinking my beer and leave the singing to you guys," said Ema. "I only agreed to come because you said you'd pay for my drinks, Fop. Don't think you can bamboozle me into singing, too. Being in the same room with you is tough enough."
Klavier chuckled. "Alright, Fraulein. You win. We'll let Herr Forehead sing, since he looks like he's going to pee his pants with excitement."
At this, Apollo snatched up the mic and promptly punched in the number of the song he wanted. "Dream On" began playing.
"All right!" exclaimed Trucy. "You chose the one I picked out last night!" She began to sing along with Apollo, but was quickly drowned out by his chords of steel. Ema covered her ears and took this as her cue to take a bathroom break. She slipped out of the private karaoke room into the hallway, closing the door quickly behind her. She could hear all of the other terrible singers in the other various rooms down the hall.
Ema took her time in the restroom, washing her hands a couple times and playing with the motion-detecting hand dryer. When she came out, she was met by a voice.
"Encountered some trouble in there, Fraulein?" Klavier smiled down at her teasingly. "Don't tell me—you fell into the toilet?" He laughed at his own joke.
"Ha ha. That joke's older than the Code of Hammurabi, Klavier," Ema scowled and walked past the glimmerous prosecutor.
"Wait, Fraulein."
Ema stopped and turned around. "What?"
"Will you take a walk with me? I already paid up the karaoke room for the rest of the night, but I don't think you and I will have the chance to sing with Herr Forehead and Fraulein Trucy in there."
Ema weighed her options. "Well, it's not like I planned to sing, anyway."
"Then is that a yes, Fraulein?" Klavier smiled one of his glimmerous smiles. Except, it wasn't the usual glimmerous smile that Ema hated. It was different, somehow.
Ema furrowed her brow. "I suppose so." Then she added, "Only if you buy me some snackoos at the Family Mart so I have something to munch on."
"It's a deal, Fraulein."
