Chapter 11
Brooke laid down carefully on the exam table.
(I'll get you the test results of the bloodwork done with the baby. As soon as possible.)
(This will be nothing but a routine visit. We're checking the heartbeat.)
((16 weeks in. How do you feel.?) Brooke's OBGYN asked.
(Great. I hear it's smart to get as much of the baby things done before you get further along.)
(My good friend Skills recently baby proofed my house and I never realized how dangerous every day stuff could be.)
(I took you're suggestion to heart about writing throughout the pregnancy.) Brooke mentioned.
(No Mr. Scott today.?) She asked.
(I didn't see a point in telling him. There isn't anything going on he needs to be around for.) Brooke explained.
(The baby should start moving around this week and able to hear you're voice.) The OBGYN mentioned.
And with that the appointment went on.
Glowing skin. Pregnancy brain. Her breasts doubling in size. This was a period she was enjoying and trying to savor.
When she listened for the baby 's heartbeat. She soon realized she was reaching for Lucas 's hand and quickly placed it back on the table.
(I've missed this place. Us at the cafe. Me and Haley on the roof.) Lucas said. Looking to his mother.
(You basically grew up here. My grand child will eat for free. Of course.)
(The grand opening is coming up. Having all you kids here helping out. Keeping me company.)
(I missed the community I left behind alot.) Karen admitted.
(It wasn't the same without you momma.) Lucas stated matter of fact.
(So I turned in my new rough draft. My editor loved it.)
(I basically did it pick you're own adventure book style.)
(I let the reader decide who the main character ends up with.)
(Rachel. Peyton or Brooke. I imagine my readers would be able to figure it out better than I can.) Lucas explained.
(Has their been progress with Brooke.?) Karen asked.
(Besides baby appointments she sometimes invites me too.)
(No. I think being so honest with her about my feelings was a mistake.)
(I want us to go back to being close friends.)
(Asking for more than that is setting myself up for disappoint.) Lucas revealed.
(I understand. I want the both of you to be happy. Living full lives.) Karen explained.
