Chapter 13
The next time I saw Lucas was at the grand re opening of Karen's cafe.
The cafe how it did during high school besides some new paint and modern appliances. And of course Karen's infamous sign.
We were all coming home again. In one way or another. Karen had always been another mom to her. But given all her and Lucas had going on she didn't expect Karen to side with her.
Lucas was her son. She wasn't sure what she wanted to wear tonight but she was well aware. People were gossiping.
She decided to embrace her baby bump proudly. She had nothing to hide.
She was wearing a green dress with black leggings and flats.
Peyton and Jake joined her side. While Nathan and Haley hung by Lucas.
(I love knowing our kids are going to have the River court and Karen's.) Peyton announced.
(I know it's all so comforting and safe to think about. You're my family P Sawyer.) Brooke replied.
Haley pulled Lucas into a warm hug. Lucas smiled hugging her back.
(We had our first jobs here. Alot of memories.) Haley stated matter of fact.
(I remember it well. I need her here now. Especially with so many changes on the way.) Lucas replied.
He watched with pride as Karen gave her speech officially re opening the cafe.
Brooke's gaze lingered on Lucas.
She gasped feeling moment stir within her.
She walked over to where Lucas stood. And placed his hand on her belly.
His gaze locked on her. Her gaze locked on him.
(The baby has started moving. He or she wants to join the celebration.) Brooke announced.
The expression on Lucas's face softened.
(Come with me to the next appointment. For the baby. I want to there. For us both.) Brooke added in.
(The both of you have me no matter what.) Lucas replied.
