CHAPTER 14: EVERYTHING WILL BE OK!
Bang! Suffering! Despair! Agony! Wailings! Pain! That was what he was seeing in Dawn. People ran! They tried to hide. It was magma and fire that was surrounding every flammable thing. Dragon channeled storms and rain, making the fire reside as much as he could. The people were panicking, when put on the gun point of the government dogs. They tried to run but were surrounded quickly. Dragon wished he could do something, but seeing Garp standing with his head down and fists balled tightly, he understood that he should not do something now. He was glad when he saw the government dogs leave. Making the people in capture to release the breath they were holding and treating the people who were injured. He was glad that the village had not sold off the children. He was happy but sad and angry from the World Government. But the peace was not long when fire surrounded everything. The rolling magma touched the skins of people mercilessly. Burning them. Erasing some people's existence.
Everywhere his eyes scanned in the little village, he saw people crying and cursing. Cursing the fact that the World Government and the rulers of justice were the ones who were destroying the Island, were hunting little kids, who were completely innocent. The cries of people came from their hearts. Some cursed the kids who were responsible for the incident while some cursed the Navy. Dragon tried his best, to stop the fire, channeling the rain. It was working but he couldn't do anything when he saw innocent people die, lose their breath. He had his hands full. He was already mobilizing kids, and any helpless people out of the path of the destruction. But he couldn't be everywhere. The fire was residing luckily.
Some would stay handicapped for their rest of the lives. Some did lose their loved ones and homes. The horrors of this day will encarved in the people of Dawn forever. Haunting them and even him in their nightmares. Dragon's bloodlust for the World Government was increasing every minute that he stayed and watched Akainu threatening people. He couldn't see the injustice of the Navy. They were preachers of justice yet they were destroyers. Dragon swore they will pay. They will pay for every ounce of their cruelty. The cries of Ohara, Flevance, Bartilla, and Dawn will be heard someday! And the World Government, the Five Elders, and Imu will pay with their deaths!
When Dragon felt that Akainu has left. He left. He left for his ship. The people surrounded him soon. He only ordered a group of speciaized people to go Dawn Island and help them. Ivankov was questioning about something, while Dragon held his stoic face, ignored the others, and entered his cabin. His head throbbed with the pain. His heart clenched with the wailings he heard from the several people who were shot by the cipher pols. He placed his hands on his face trying to print the faces, the despair, the cries, and agonies of the people, who were dead and who were living. The scared faces of people who asked mercy, who wanted to live. The scared and crying faces of the children as they held their parents. The World Government will pay. The Navy will crumble to the ground. He swore.
Ivankov entered after a while.
"Dragon-boy! What's wrong?" He asked. But when he got no answer, he continued, "First you leave us alone without a word and now, you order people to go for Dawn Island. What's happening?!"
"Innocent people died again. Children are paying for the crimes, that the World Government imposed on their fathers. Kids of age 13 and 9 are paying for their heritage, for their blood, for the fact they were born!" That was all Dragon said and plopped his head on the desk, asking for some space from his fellow revolutionary.
Luffy was spacing out, eyes staring at the ocean, focusing, looking for something. But who knows what? No one said anything or disturbed him. They just let him be on his own. Sanji was preparing breakfast. Corazon was helping Zoro unpack their bags. Sabo and Ace were sparing on the deck. Law was in his cabin, probably reading some medicinal books and Bepo was in the crow nest, him being in charge for the lookout.
The sea was calm, which has nerving. The seas near Grandline never remain calm for too long. But who are they to complain when they are served in golden plates? The red line will soon be nearing. They will have to focus all of their attention on the helm and the current, to avoid crashing into the gigantic piece of the red stone, which was there since their birth, and who knows for how long?
The sounds of seagulls flying above their heads, the sounds of the clanking of the metal pipes against each other, the smell of the crispy and juicy meat coming from the kitchen, it al seemed so good. So comfortable.
Luffy wasn't jumping around. He wasn't disturbing anyone. Not asking Sanji for meat. Not sparing with Ace and Sabo. Not playing with Bepo or bugging Zoro and Law or clinging to Cora-san for any stories. He was just sitting there silently as if listening to many stories the wind whispered in his ears, the soft lullaby the waves were singing for him. It felt good. It felt mesmerizing. He had always loved the idea of sitting on the figurehead of Merry and Sunny. He missed them. His friends. He still hasn't seen Chopper, Robin, Franky, Brook, and Jimbei. But the wind told them they are fine. They are not in any immediate danger, which was soothing for Luffy. The sea was whispering soft words to him. To distract his mind from the events of the previous day. He felt grateful for it. He was happy when the newspapers hadn't published anything about Dawn Island or them. "No news is good news." Cora-san had said.
Sabo and Law had still warned them, that it doesn't mean that the Navy will stop searching for them. This was confirmed by Garp himself. He had called in the morning, waking everyone to tell them that all the Admirals, Vice-Admiral, Marine captains and Warlords are asked to hunt them. Luffy felt he was back in his previous timeline, where unpredictable things occurred every time, where there was an adventure waiting for them on every single island, every new island. But still, not everyone was there. He loves adventure. But it wouldn't be fun without a liar, a weather witch, a tiny reindeer, creepy thoughts of the woman, the cyborg and his cool gadgets, the musician, and the helmsman who rode the ship on the ocean with so much fun. So, he would wait. Wait for them to join to begin their adventures. He had even offered Law and Ace, that they can pick their crewmates, but they had shrugged it off. Telling that they will think about it. Till then they will train harder. Their body will get accustomed in the upcoming 8 years.
The question about hiding was raised by Garp in the call. They didn't know where to hide. They still haven't decided on a place to be safe and train. That was when Luffy was asked about where he was hiding in the 2 years after War of Best. Apparently, neither the Revolutionaries nor the Navy knew about the place. Thinking about Rusukaina made him feel good. The harsh weather conditions, the giant animals, and the days spent training under Rayleigh, his friends, who helped him get stronger, brought a sunny grin to his face.
"Rusukaina," He had said.
"You were hiding in one of Boa Hancock's islands?" It was Sabo who had asked, eyes screaming shock.
"The Boa Hancock who hates men?" It was Ace's turn to be shocked now. Luffy pouted at his brothers.
"She isn't bad. But I don't like her when she asks me to marry her," Luffy mumbled those words quietly, his mouth making a huffing sound.
"Wh-" Ace was interrupted by Garp.
"Head towards Rusukaina as soon as possible. The Navy is searching East Blue for now. But who knows when they will start searching in Grand Line." Garp had said before disconnecting.
Luffy sighed thinking about the cold eyes that he will most probably have to deal with Hancock all again. It was hard to make her soft the first time. Maybe they can just quietly sneak into Rusukaina? But if they got caught later, that would be trouble, which he didn't really want. Everyone had later pestered Luffy into telling how he had gained Hancock's trust, to which he had mostly said everything, except for the part about the slave mark. It was their secret. A secret she trusted him with. But he also had an idea. An idea that would help Hancock and her sisters. Then, maybe he will let him and her brothers and Cora-san stay at Rusukaina? He was just hoping so. Also, he would be having his brothers this time, it will make the situation less hard. He can always rely on them coz they know how to make things right.
When they had asked Garp about Dawn Island, Grap hadn't said a word. He was contemplating if he should say or not. But at the end he did say. Dawn Island was almost destroyed, where it not for Dragon, his dad. Gramps even told them, that some people were close to dieing and some people did die. This made everyone sick in stomach. There bloodlust for Akainu increasing every moment.
Ivankov ran his way to Dragon's cabin and stormed in.
"Dragon-boy!" He shouted. Dragon looked at him he could see the worry in the eyes of the revolutionary as he passed the report to him.
THE DEMONS THAT ALMOST DESTROYED DAWN ISLAND!
The title screamed. Dragon let a mocked laugh from his mouth.
"So, the Navy decides to blame them? That's cheap!" Dragon said.
The pirate king's son, Gol D. Ace, along with the son of the Revolutionary Dragon, Monkey D. Luffy, were almost destroyed a peaceful island in the East Blue, Dawn Island. If it wasn't for the Admiral Akainu the Island would no longer exist. According to the info from the Navy, the demons were accompanied by six others. They are the mysterious bounty hunters which have hunted down 'Foul Play' Don Krieg, Buggy 'The Clown', 'Saw-Tooth' Arlong, 'Iron-Mace' Alvida, and many other pirates and bandits with little to no effort, They stand for the very definition of demons, irrespective of their age. They are responsible for making the inhabitants of Dawn Island unconscious and trying to erase its existence from the world map. The companions of these Trafalgar D. Water Law, Bepo, Vinsmoke Sanji, Roronoa Zoro, Sabo, Donquixote Rosinante. They are dangerous criminals, who need to be brought to justice. Please contact the World Government if you find them.
"This report was circulated to every Marine captain, Vice Admiral, Admirals and The Warlords." Ivankov said.
Dragon sighed and spoke, "Half of the information is false!" Ivankov raised his eyebrows and asked, "What do you mean, Dragon-boy? Weren't they here when we were in Dawn Island?"
"Yeah, but Dawn Island was about to be destroyed by Akainu," Dragon spoke.
"How can you be so sure?" Ivankov asked.
"I was there."
It took about a week to reach Amazon Lily. They had managed to secure the eternal post from Alabasta. Bepo who was not able to handle the heat stayed with Corazon on the ship. While the others had disguised themselves, with Law and Luffy in one cloak making one person, Zoro, and Sanji in another, and Ace and Sabo in another. Law and Sabo had strictly warned especially Ace and Luffy to not cause any trouble. But when they were chased by a militia of people and some marines on their tail, Law cursed while everyone blamed him for picking a fight with some rascals who were torturing a kid, Ace and him for dine and dash and for sleeping on their food with their face first. But it was fun while it lasted, remembering all the fights and dine and dash they would do in Dawn. It felt like home.
Later everyone scolded them for being too reckless to grab attention. Ace had shrugged it off while Luffy had pouted. But he was sad that Ace didn't let him go after the whispers he was hearing. It felt like they were calling him. Desparate for help. He had never felt so many emotions within himself ever, just by listening the Voice. He felt sad happy, angery and what not. He had asked Ace if he could hear it, but Ace had declined and said that he should pay attention to get rid of the Marines. But the voice sounded full of pain, sadness, discomfort, despair, and anger. It was begging to be free. He wanted to help, but the Voice seemed distant, far too distant for his liking. But when he was staring at the tides rising up and down and wondering about the voices, the sea had told whispered him the answer. His eyes had grown as wide as possible, tears had leaked from his eyes, staining his cheeks. He felt lumps growing in his throat. His clutches on the railing had tightened until Sanji had called for dinner. The thought of food should have helped to distract him at the instant but it was still lingering in his mind and heart. He had just found another reason to show hell to the World Government.
During the dinner time, everyone had noticed the tear stained cheeks of Luffy and many even asked, but Luffy could not come up with any words to explain. He did not know what to say. So, he chose to avoid the topic by stuffing meat in his mouth and went staright to the bed. Ace and Sabo had ran instantly after the lilttle brother, wanting to console him of any hurt and pain he was feeling. But he was fast asleep. The others were feeling worries, not knowing what had caused the youngest to cry. Luffy never cried from his nightmares, except for the one he had had at the beginning of the journey. He was not a crybaby. Not anymore. So, that sure sent many to the edge. Wanting to help him in anyway that could be possible. But they could not when Luffy did not know how to explain anything.
Right now they- Ace, Sabo, and Luffy- were facing the Amazon Lily. Sanji was strictly forbidden to accompany, while Law and Zoro had gladly passed the option to protect the ship. Bepo and Corazon wanted to accompany but Law had somehow handled them. They had docked their ship away from the shore, to avoid any misconception with the Kujas, while Luffy had made most of the sea kings his friends, to avoid any fights. He was grateful that they had heard him instantly, without any complaints which most did in the previous timelines.
So, here were they on top of a sea king standing tall. They jumped off the sea king and ventured into the jungle. The beasts looked tempting making them lick their lips and their stomachs to growl in hunger, even though they had eaten breakfast an hour ago. Ace and Luffy looked at Sabo with puppy eyes asking for permission to catch the hulking beast which was on his way to attack them. Sabo sighed as he ran his fingers through his wavy blonde hair and smiled. Luffy wasted no time in knocking the bear with a powerful controlled blast of conquerer's haki and Ace had made quick work at roasting it. After eating their fill and satisfying their black holes they headed ahead.
They were on the other side of the mountain, hiding, and trying to make their way to the castle from where a strong presence could be felt. Surely of Hancock. Luffy grinned and rocketed himself to the castle with Ace and Sabo, without a warning. The yell which had escaped from their mouth was priceless, grabbing the attention of most people in the village or town. But they were rocketed to a hot sea? Weren't they headed to the castle?
"AHH! We are drowning! Sabo help!" Ace and Luffy shrieked together, making Sabo bonk their heads.
"Idiots! It's a bath house." Sabo said as he glared at the youngest.
"Oh, I can stand!" Ace said as he stood up happily with Sabo and Luffy.
Hancock turned her head towards the newcomers and was about to glare but seeing they were mere children, her gaze had softened. But she was quickly reminded in her head of what they had seen and what they were. Boys. Men.
"Men?!" A voice came, making the three of them to look at the direction of the most beautiful maiden in the world. But the ugly, horrible scar on her beautiful back shocked Ace and Sabo.
"Hancock!" The youngest one cheered at once after seeing her. He would have latched onto her without a second thought, were it not for the blonde.
"Ah, we are really very very sorry for the intrusion." The blonde bowed. The raven-haired did the same, though the anger in his eyes was vividly visible. She saw hatred in the eyes of the freckled.
"Sister!" Maria and Sonia rushed inside the bathroom. "What happened, sister?"
"Who are those...? Men...?!" Sonia said in shock.
"Men in this country?" Maria stared at the trio in shock. "Take this robe, sister," Maria wrapped Hancock in the robe.
"They saw my back." Hancock said as Maria and Sonia were left shaken.
"Well then, you'll have to die," Maria said grabbing the attention of the trio, who had somehow started a water fight, specially Luffy and Ace.
"But why?" Ace asked.
"We just came to ask a favour." Sabo said.
"We would die, rather than let someone see our backs," Hancock said and without a second thought, Hancock used her one of the powerful attack, "Mero Mero Mellow." But was left baffled when the beam went through them, without turning the kids into stone.
Hancock, Maria and Sonia were left baffled at the sight go the slave arrow passing through the kids without making them stones. No one. No one could resist their sister's charm. Even children. The youngest one was pouting, looking a bit sad but the eldest looked straight furious. Hancock tried again but with the same result.
"Kill them!" They heard their sister say in a low, menacing, and threatening voice.
"Wait!" The blonde said, "We just wanted to talk to you."
"And why shall I do so?" Hancock glared at them with cold, dark eyes. But inside those dark eyes, they identified pain and hurt.
"Hancock?" The youngest one said again. "Could we talk for a while?"
Hancock felt her walls breaking at the sad smile, the youngest was giving. It didn't feel right to her. She felt that the boy was meant to smile in any circumstance. No, what was she thinking? She internally slapped herself before erecting the walls again.
"Please!" The doe black eyes were breaking Hancock. The puppy eyes did no good. She wasn't that heartless that she won't listen to the kids? Wasn't she? She gulped.
"We can return the favor, if you listen to us," The freckled one said. Her glare was back like before, but quite unsteady.
"What could small boys as you do for me?" Hancock asked, trying her best to ignore the puppy eyes which were attacking her.
"We can make the mark disappear for good," The blonde said seriously.
"Why should I trust you?" Her glare was intensifying.
"Please!" The smallest one was not giving up any time soon and her walls were crumbling to millions of pieces. She took a shaky breath.
"I ate the Mera-Mera no mi. I can burn that mark. Though it will hurt like hell. But I can give it any shape you desire," The freckled said with his hands on the back of his head.
The offer was too tempting. She saw Maria and Sonia look expectantly at her. She wanted to get rid of the cursed mark. They all wanted. But falling for that? How can she trust these kids? Who knows if the boy can control his fire properly or not?
"I can control my fire well," The freckled boy gave a pout, which quickly turned to a frown. She felt as if her mind was read! Which is technically not possible.
"It is possible," The blonde said as he gave a small grin. "With advanced observation haki."
Her eyes widened. So indeed they were reading her mind. Come to think of it, why doesn't she feel any aura from them?
"It's not mind reading! Ace and Sabo saw the future." The youngest pouted.
"Who are you?" She asked, now wary of the three kids who knew haki and were strong enough to hide their presence!
"I'm Sabo. These are my brothers Ace and Luffy," The blonde introduced the boys.
"What do you want in return?" She was even considering their offer! The tempting offer!
"We just need Rusukaina to hide for a few years. We won't disturb you for anything. That's a promise," Luffy chirped, though the first part was said in an emotionless voice, which sounded wrong! But he was soon jumping around.
"Why do you need to hide?" Hancock asked still trying to keep her cold voice. A lot of questions popped up in her mind at once.
"Haven't you got any report for capturing 8 people from the World Government?" Sabo asked curiously.
"That's why I felt the faces so recognizable-nyo." Elder Nyon said as she brought the attention to herself. "A week before, the World Government had sent a notice about capturing 7 kids and a man, which you have gladly burned without reading-nyo."
"I don't want to do any business with them," Hancock hissed. "It's only to protect the Island."
"But why are you being hunted?" Hancock asked feeling pity for the kids. The World Government is stepping too low.
"I'm Gol D. Ace, son of the Pirate King."
"I'm Monkey D. Luffy, son of Revolutionary Dragon."
Hancock stared at them in shock. They were hunted for the sins and crimes of their fathers! She gritted her teeth.
"That must answer your question," Sabo said with a small smile. Hancock nodded.
"So... you want the marks to be gone or not?" Ace asked giving her a forced smile. But inside he was feeling that Hancock would no longer want a demon to touch her. A part of him still thought and believed that if Hancock is Luffy's friend she won't snap at him.
Hancock nodded, making him feel good and confident.
Even if they were kids, even if they only wanted to hide from the world, she would gladly do it. She would gladly help them because she knows the feeling of being hunted. She knows how it feels to be run from someone strong, that you could not defeat.
Ace asked her to grab something between her mouth to reduce the pain as he made the mark of an eye with flames in it. It hurt a lot but the feeling of getting free from the cursed mark replaced every bit of pain and agony. She would give up anything for being free. Completely free from the mark.
After it was done, she felt Sabo treating the burn, but it still hurt like hell. Then the smallest of the boys approached her and ran his fingers through her bandaged back. As the little fingers touched her, the pain started to fade away. Did he have healing powers? Now that she was not in pain, she could hear the sounds of a drum being played. When she turned to ask him about his powers, she was greeted with the sight of a pure white transformation of the kid, clouds floating around his neck and back, white hair with flaming oranges like fire, and red, gold, white iris and a wide sunny smile on the sun-kissed face of the youngest. She swears she had seen a dark brown iris! But the appearance of the boy made her remember one of the stories Fisher Toger had told her.
She watched Ace carve new marks on his sister's back, Sabo bandage them and Luffy erase the pain, though he was huffing and panting for air a lot! They still did their work without any complaints. How can these kids be demon? Why should they be hunted? She can never be more thankful to them for truly freeing them from those haunting pasts. She was truly happy that she didn't notice the warm, hot liquid staining her cheeks.
"Don't cry!" Luffy said with his normal appearance and hugged Hancock, his arms spiraling several times around her. Hancock allowed herself to cry. Those tears were the tears of happiness, joy, freedom, and liberation.
"We'll make sure to take your revenge too," The boy said while giving her a stupid, but sunny grin.
"We even have some scores to settle with them," Ace punched his fists in his palm.
"So, leave it on us. Everything will be ok," Sabo gave a grin.
Hancock chuckled. She did not doubt that they can't do it. They will do it.
A/N:
I don't know if the story is good or not. It kinda makes me feel why am I writing sometimes. But then I remember, 'I want to write a fanfic that has a combination of many things, like the things I have read!' It may not be the best fanfic on the internet, but I trying my best. So, can I get at least some comments? A single one in a single chapter will also work. It motivates me a lot, to write the next chapter. Especially I feel I need a lot of motivation right now. Ahh, life is so difficult and boring!
Ok, I'm sorry for not posting chapters for a last seven days, but I wasn't really feeling any motivation to continue.
