Mother Molly

All recognizable characters belong to J. K. Rowling, and I am not earning anything by writing this story.

Molly stared at the scene in front of her in disbelief. The werewolf chamber was secured with bars, which allowed the view inside. However, there was no werewolf inside but only a cat. It looked almost like her own Animagus form, the calico cat. The cat was stretched out right behind the bars and seemed to be talking to Sirius and Severus, who were sitting in front of the bars in their own Animagi forms. While Severus was a magical lynx, 'at least some kind of feline,' Sirius was a dog. Nevertheless, there seemed to be understanding between the three animals.

Molly swiftly transformed into her own feline form, closely followed by Minerva.

=Remus, is that you?= she asked, albeit knowing that it was a completely unnecessary question.

=Yes. Somehow, I transformed into a cat.=

=A cognitive cat at that,= Severus added, seeming relieved by the fact.

=Moreover, he must be a magical cat. Otherwise, he wouldn't understand me.= Sirius in his canine form grinned broadly. =Thank Merlin, my form is magical as well.=

=But mine isn't,= Molly replied in confusion.

=Molly, can you understand the dog?= Minerva's tail swished back and forth in apparent annoyance.

=Yes. Can you not understand him?= Molly stared at the fellow feline in surprise.

=No.=

=Probably, because your form is not a magical one,= Severus explained, changing his black colour to a barely visible light grey.

=I am not a magical cat either,= Molly replied, just when her brothers interrupted the felines' conversation.

"Apparently, Remus is a Stealth cat…"

"… which must have been caused by the prankery…"

"… as the Stealth cat is the symbol of the Prewett family…"

"… just as Molly's form is that of a Stealth cat…"

"… not a calico cat…"

"… just so you know."

Molly swiftly transformed back into her human form. "I'm sure that I'm a calico cat."

The twins smirked. "The calico cat…"

"… is nothing else…"

"… but the muggle variant of the Stealth cat…"

"… and considering that you're a Prewett by birth…"

"… and moreover were able to converse with a dog…"

"… you must be a Stealth cat."

"What exactly is the difference apart from having magic?"

"That should be something for us to know…"

"… and for you to find out." The twins chuckled.

Molly rolled her eyes in annoyance. "How am I supposed to figure it out? Please tell me."

"The Prewett Stealth cat is famous for being able to turn invisible…"

"… just like Severus…"

"… who is a magical lynx…"

"… and for being able to fly."

"To fly?" Molly stared at her brothers in disbelief.

"Minerva?" Arthur suddenly addressed the older witch, who swiftly transformed back into her human form. "Will you please teach me how to become an Animagus?"

"Me too please," the twins added, for once unison.

Minerva nodded. "I can do that, but I wonder if it would be possible for me to change my Animagus form into that of a magical cat as well."

Molly smiled. "If anyone was able to do so, it would be you, considering that you're a mistress of Transfiguration."

"Well, let's try all together," Fabian said, pleasantly. "Perhaps, you should teach Remus as well…"

"… so that he might be able to simply transform back into his human form…"

"… during the full moon…"

"Oh, that would be brilliant." Sirius grinned broadly.

"… Molly and Remus…"

"… why don't you head out onto the grounds…"

"… and try to fly?"

Molly stared at the twins in disbelief. "Do you believe that it'll be safe for Remus?"

Severus transformed back as well. "Is there a way to know if Remus will have to take the potion every month or if it's a permanent solution?"

"Well, we'll just have to go…"

"… and ask the prankery…"

"… or try it out next month."

Under the watchful eyes of the feline and canine Animagi, Molly and Remus headed out into the park and tried to fly in their Stealth cat forms. To her surprise, it was not difficult at all, and they had much fun circling above the park and the manor.

=Thank you, Molly, for keeping me company. This is the most pleasant full moon I've ever experienced.=

=This really is much fun,= Molly replied, as she glid through the trees that were illuminated by the full moon feeling totally relaxed.

It was a few days later that three-year-old Fred and George took their oldest brothers aside.

"Bill…"

"… and Charlie…"

"… the other day…"

"…we overheard Granny Minerva…"

"… trying to teach Dad and Uncles Fabian and Gideon…"

"… how to become a cat…"

"… and we want to become cats too."

"Oh, that sounds great. I'm definitely in." Charlie looked at his older brother in apparent excitement.

Bill nodded. "I don't know how to do such a thing though."

The twins chuckled and told them what they had overheard their granny tell their father and their godfathers.

When the Christmas holidays were over and the extended family returned to their usual routine, Fred and George insisted to be taught by Fabian and Gideon together with Charlie and Percy.

Molly and Arthur shook their heads in annoyance; however, since Fabian and Gideon did not protest, they finally agreed, knowing that Remus would have his hands full with Harry, Ronald and Ginny, who slowly began to become more active as well.

While Molly was spending the mornings in the Unspeakables' office doing research together with Arcturus and Regulus, she had no idea that her three-year-old twin sons pestered their godfathers to practise how to become Stealth cat Animagi together with them.

Needless to say, Charlie and Percy happily joined their younger brothers and uncles in their attempt to change their left hands into a cat's paw.

Harry and Ronald, however, while studying the letters of the alphabet under Remus' tutelage, noticed what their older brothers and uncles were doing and decided between themselves to secretly try to become animals as well.
