Chapter 7: A Dance Party in Churchill

One warm third Saturday of April 2023, I met up with my childhood friends Sarah, James, and Henri along with some of my other friends Carly Shay and Spencer Puckett, along with Carly's stepdad, Freddie Benson at the Churchill Borough Building for a dance party. "Hi, guys!" I greeted my friends. "Hi, Angel!" Sarah greeted back. We warmed up our dancing skills by listening to Kate Bush and NSYNC. "Thankfully, Samantha knows what she would like to do at her slumber party next Saturday," James stated. "Then, we wouldn't have to watch the craziness of Acrisure Stadium practicing for football, just like when we created our own game of football as kids." "I agree," Henri happiily stated. "Did I hear you guys say something about football?" Mr. Benson asked. "Yes, Mr. Benson," Henri replied. "We were just talking about creating our own game of football in the backyard." "This is actually baseball season, not football season, Henri," Mr. Benson corrected. "I bet that you are excited for the upcoming summer, James," Spencer stated. "Of course I am, Spencer," James replied. "Our birthdays are in the same month- I will be turning 35 years old, and you will be turning 30 years old!" Meanwhile, Sarah and I were watching Carly make origami. "Are you enjoying your birthday weekend, Carly?" Sarah asked. "Of course I am, Sarah," Carly replied. "I love the crafts to go along with these activities and it reminds me of applying for summer camp during my freshman year of high school." "This April is the only month that is partially like that year so far this year," I told my friends. "Because it has been very warm even though cooler weather is coming in the days and weeks ahead! That's all right with me, folks!" Then, more of my friends Alex Russo, Justin Evans, and Max Greenwald arrived for the dance party, and Alex wrote a few journal entries in her journal during breaks in between dancing. Client Samantha Mifflin came up and talked to us. "I am so glad that you are here, Samantha," Alex stated. "Because unfortunately everywhere I go, no one gives a hoot about nutritional needs, whether it be at school or these activities!" "I was going to get a piece of pepperoni pizza from the table," Samantha explained. "You and your sisters need to learn how to eat healthier in the school cafeteria," Alex explained. "I know, I ordered veggies on my pizza, had a no-cal flavored water to drink, with an apple and a brownie to eat," Samantha explained. "Abigail picked a bagel topped with peanut butter and a banana and chocolate milk to drink, and Hannah picked baked chips and an orange to go with her popcorn chicken." "That's good to hear," Alex remarked. "I am writing more journal entries about fashion, which I will discuss tomorrow at the discussion group," Alex explained. Once the dance party was over, it was time for all of us to go home. "Thanks for a great day, everyone!" I thanked my friends. "You're welcome, Angel," Sarah replied. "Good night, guys!" "Good night!"
