Kessel Run, Week 10: Write a story between 100 and 400 words, and include these three words: eavesdrop, amok, previse

I decided to make this one dialogue-only, and because I was feeling particularly daring, this scene involves no less than seven people with speaking roles. Hopefully it won't be too hard to figure out who's who. :P Credit for this week's premise goes to Gabri Jade, who said I should write a story where Myri pulls the whole cast of EtF into a game of sabacc. This isn't the entire cast, but it's still a fair number of them...

Corellian Gambit

Late 55 ABY

"All right, boys and girls, the game is Corellian Gambit—"

"Corellian Gambit again?"

"My ship, my rules, Ulin. You want to play Malastare Blaster, you should've offered to host."

"I did offer—"

"Shhh, I'm trying to shuffle."

"Come on, Myri, like you can't shuffle in your sleep…"

"What a flattering and yet erroneous assessment of my skills, sis. As if I would ever sleep through a game of sabacc."

"Pretty sure you did exactly that last time we played Malastare Blaster…"

"Don't pout, Demetrius."

"I'm not pouting, I—"

"…"

"If you two are finished acting like besotted teenagers, some of us are ready to play."

"Leave them alone, Myri."

"What? I don't see you sucking Valin's face off—"

"Please leave me out of this—"

"—and you two have only been married a few months."

"Hold on, Myri; I think we have company."

"Did your Jedi instincts previse you of that fact, Tahiri?"

"That, and I can hear two boys giggling on the other side of the door."

"…We were not giggling!"

"Sure sounded like giggling… And what's so funny, Dolan?"

"Nothing, Aunt Tahiri."

"Uh-huh."

"He's probably laughing because you and Ulin were kissing like a couple of Sarnor eels flopping around—"

"Oh my gods, stop."

"That's the risk you take when you eavesdrop, Davin. Well don't just stand there; you might as well pull up a chair and join us."

"You're serious?"

"Sure, why not? I'm sure Ulin can front you some credits."

"Hey—"

"And it's better than letting you two run amok or hide behind doors giggling like five-year-olds."

"We were not giggling."

"Besides, we could use a couple more Corellians at our table."

"Come on, Dav, sit down."

"Stop shoving me… Hey, since we're playing with the adults, does that mean we get to have a drink, too?"

"You just keep your eyes on your cards, kiddo."

"Worth a shot…"

"All right, boys and girls, listen up. The game is still Corellian Gambit…"
