Forbes Residence

Lucy dropped off Elena and Bonnie at Caroline's. She was going to do some grocery shopping and then swing by and pick them up after.

"Is it weird that I am nervous?" Bonnie asked, as Lucy pulled away.

"No, Bon. I am kinda nervous also," Elena said gently. "I know she is still Caroline, but will she be different? Who knows?"

But a second later, Caroline bound out of the front desk and greeted her friends with hugs.

"Guy, stop looking at me like that! I'm fine. Really," Caroline said.

"Really, you look, well, amazing," Bonnie gushed.

"Stop. So do you guys. Come in. Mom is still at work, but I want to here everything about the lake," Caroline gushed. "Oh, and wait until you hear the stupid shit Tyler and Matt did..."
Elena smiled and nodded at Bonnie. Caroline was still Caroline.

The girls caught up about what they had missed in Mystic Falls while Caroline made them lunch.

"Will it gross you out if I drink my blood? Stefan says I have to stay on schedule," Caroline reported.

Elena giggled, "Caroline, I went out with two vampires. One of which actually drank my blood. It doesn't gross me out at all."
"What? You never told us this," Bonnie gasped. "Who? Let me guess...Damon!"
"Well, it better have been 'cause Stefan might have turned ripper on her," Caroline said, serving the salads.

Elena cleared her thought. "Oh, he told you about that? Stefan doesn't really like to talk about that much."

Caroline felt heat rise to her face.

"Yeah, well, we have been together non-stop since...you know, Vicki, um, attacked me," Caroline reported. "It seems that I formed a kind of sirebond thingy with him."
"What?" Elena said, putting down her iced tea. "Didn't that happen with Tyler and Klaus?"
"Yeah, but that was different," Caroline said. "I think, but anyway, Stefan said it's normal and should lessen with time."
"Oh yeah, I'm sure it will," Bonnie said, noticing Caroline's tension. "But a toast to you, Caroline. You will be forever beautiful while Elena and I wither into old crones."

"Cheers," Elena said, raising her glass.

Caroline smiled weakly. "Oh, the grilled cheeses are burning!"

She turned and flipped the sandwich sizzling in the pot, grimacing.

"That one will be mine," Caroline said. "Food tastes like crap anyway."

"Sorry, Care. I shouldn't have said that," Bonnie apologized.

"What? No, Bonnie, I don't want things to be weird. I mean, you know I never wanted to look old and stuff. I'm okay, really," Caroline said, sitting back down. "So? Give me the scope about the lake. Anything interesting happen?"

Elena leaned forward and told Caroline about her parents, Uncle John, and even about Damon turning her biomom.

"Isobel? I wonder if my mom knows anything about this," Caroline commented.

Bonnie got up to flip the other sandwich and get more iced tea.

"I bet my mom would, wherever she is," Bonnie commented.

"Yeah, our moms were like best friends," Elena said. "Has your dad said anything recently?"
"Nope," Bonnie reported. "We barely hear from him. It's like now that Lucy moved in, he's even more distant. He got a big raise so that's nice, but who knows when he's coming home again."
"Sorry, Bonnie," Caroline said, eager to change the subject. Talking about her parents always made Bonnie sad and Caroline was also getting depressed. "So, was Enzo a total pig the whole time? That dude is horny as hell. I kind of get it now that I'm a vampire..."

The girls laughed as Caroline got the rest of the food.

"So, Enzo asked out Lucy and she's going to go," Bonnie shared. "I think her bitchiness is a total turn-on to him."
Elena took a small bite of her sandwich, chewing thoughtfully.

"I kinda thought you liked him," Elena said, swallowing.

"Nope. Just the accent," Bonnie quipped. "He has way too much baggage for me. He's cute, but no."

Caroline smiled, "Well, I know another vampire who asked about you...He goes to our school."

Elena's eyes went wide. "Kol? No way, Care. He's like a million years old. I can't see Bonnie with him...No way."

Bonnie toyed with her fork.

"Okay, so he does have the accent," Bonnie admitted. "But yeah, he's bad news. Talk about baggage...I mean, he does know a lot about witchcraft, though."
"Bonnie, you are into him!" Elena accused with a grin.

"No, it's just we spent a lot of time with him doing those spells," Bonnie said. "And technically, he's like 17."
Caroline laughed, "I knew it. Why don't you invite him to the dance?"

Elena groaned, "Oh my God, I invited Damon to the dance this weekend. I almost forgot..."

"You what?" Caroline exclaimed.

"Yeah, we were by the lake and he seemed so sad," Elena started. "I hope he doesn't think it means we're getting back together or anything. Shit, I should have-."

Bonnie laughed, "Elena, calm down. It doesn't have to mean anything. Look, I'll ask Kol and we'll all go together as friends. Oh, tell Caroline about April and Jeremy!"

Elena nodded, feeling better. "So my little brother got caught...skinny dipping with April! Jenna went out there and smacked them with this giant spatula. April was so freaked."
"Seriously? April got butt naked with Jer?" Caroline burst out, almost choking on her blood.

"Yeah, I feel so bad. It was totally her first kiss," Bonnie added. "We gotta set that girl straight."
"Stop, Bonnie. You went out with Jeremy yourself once upon a time!" Elena snarked.

"For like two seconds. Look, you know I love Jeremy, just not as boyfriend material. Anyway, I thought he was with that Annabelle chick," Bonnie defended.

Elena burst out in laughter, saying, "Yes, he totally is. Maybe we should set April up with Matt? They would be cute together."

"You are going to set April up with your ex? Where's the popcorn?"

"Oh shit, it's gonna do down," Caroline said. "I'm like so glad you guys are back."
"So are we," Elena said. "Next time, you are coming with. And maybe we can go without any adults. Party time!"

"Totally," Caroline said.

Mikaelson Mansion

Kol was loitering in Rebekah's room as she painted her toenails. She held up her foot.

"Too pink?" Rebekah asked, turning her foot. She was supposed to be a Pink Lady with April and Annabelle for the dance this weekend, though she wasn't entirely sure what that was. The girls were supposed to have a movie night which they said would explain more. Annabelle's mother was sewing them costumes.

"I don't care about your bloody toes," Kol snapped. "Look at them. A big happy family out there."

He was looking at the window at the scene of Damon getting his horse.

"Kol, you sound as vexed as you were when Nik brought home...Marcel," Rebekah said, putting down the nail polish.

Kol heard the sadness in her voice.

"I'm sorry, Bekah," Kol said. "I am being selfish, aren't I? Nik hears me speaking like this about his new son and he'll probably give me the dagger again."

Rebekah got up carefully as to not get nail polish on her carpet.

"Oh Kol, you know he won't," Rebekah said softly. "Look, be pissed at them if you like, but we have to talk."
Kol turned. "I know, I know. Indy now can put visions in people's minds...Wish she'd put me back at Storyville. There was this girl there with red hair and an arse like-!"

Rebekah swatted him on the arm. Storyville had been a red light district in New Orleans around the turn of the century to regulate prostitution. Rebekah remembered it had been shut down during WW1 since it was near a military base. Kol had been daggered at that time, but she wasn't going to tell him that.

"Stop! I have no desire to hear about your wild perversions, Brother. This is about Elijah, not about the children. If he goes to New Orleans alone, he's done with. And so are we," Rebekah spat.

"What are you talking about?" Kol said.

"They may not tell me much around here, but I've been hearing things. And not good things. Do you know about this plan Elijah has to deal with the Strix?" Rebekah asked pointedly.

"Aye, he's flying down with that snobby idiot, Tristan and going to that ball. Then, I assumed he was going to slaughter them all. I'm sure Nik will pop out of the woodwork and help," Kol replied, turning back to the window.

"From what I've heard, he's made some deal with Aya. She's Tristan's second now. I just don't see her betraying him. Elijah has always been partial to her. You and Nik have to go," Rebekah said. "And take Damon with you. Maybe Ava also?"
"Ava? She's like nine," Kol chortled. "Nik isn't going to like this. And didn't the witches ban him from the city? Elijah said Nik couldn't even get close to the city limits."

"When have witches ever stopped our brother?" Rebekah reminded him.

Kol turned and gave up watching Damon prance around on his new horse. It did seem like yesterday when Nik was doing the same for Marcellus. He bought that one a pony, around and around they would go in the courtyard of the Compound in New Orleans. Was that 1810? 1811? All because Rebekah fell in love with the governor's son, Emil...

"Kol, are you listening to me?" Rebekah snapped.

Kol blinked. "Aye, Ava would be an asset. She could siphon any spells away. We know they are not above using that Sisters coven for ill intentions...Wait, do you really think Nik is planning to go?"
Rebekah smiled slightly. "Well, he chartered a plane..."
"He what? And how do you know this?" Kol fired back.

"I borrowed his computer. It's all on there if you know how to look. You really should be learning these things," Rebekah scoffed.

"Oh, little sister, you're just eager to get a sound hiding, aren't you?" Kol laughed.

"No! I am just trying to save this family," Rebekah yelled. "You should have my back here!"

"Okay, okay. Keep it down. Tell me what you know," Kol entreated. He knew his brothers and Niklaus would never let Elijah fall to the Strix. Rebekah had a point.

Outside

Dusk

Elijah jogged to get the ball and looked up to see the groom watching him. He was out playing with the children and dogs in the yard. He waved.

"Miss Marshall, do you have a moment?" Elijah called out, tossing the ball back to Indy.

"Yes, of course," Hayley said politely. She was tall and slender, but it was her cheekbones that intrigued him. This woman could be a model. Her hazel eyes examined him closely.

"I'm sorry. We have to run the dogs or they will jump over everyone," Elijah apologized, brushing dirt from his hands.

"No, don't apologize. They are beautiful dogs. The kids, too. You really have a lovely place here," Hayley said, again giving Elijah her lovely smile. His heard seemed to skip a beat. He could smell that she was a werewolf, but somehow it smelled exotic and spicy, not like the wet dog it sometimes did.

"I am making steak for dinner. I was hoping you would join us," Elijah said, trying not to stare at her.

"Oh, that's very nice, but I don't want to intrude," Hayley said. "I can get something in town."
"Nonsense, you won't be intruding," Elijah stated. "In fact, it's the very least we can do as you came through so quickly with the horse. Damon is enthralled with him."

"Yes, he's quite a creature, isn't he?" Hayley said, looking back where Damon was getting off Azul. "But I should assist Damon and help take care of the tact and rub down the horse."

"Of course," Elijah said. "Seven o'clock?"
"Yes, I'll be there. I am assuming y'all dress for dinner in these parts?" Hayley asked, her mouth turning up slightly.

"Guilty as charged," Elijah answered. "But feel free to dress as you are comfortable, please. And don't let Damon saddle you with all the work. I hope he does his share. He is more than capable."

"Sure," Hayley said, wondering if she had anything decent to wear. She had worked with the wealthy for these last few years, but hadn't rubbed elbows much with them socially.

"See you then," Elijah smiled, turning back to the kids. He thought he had some Kobe beef in the freezer. He only wanted to serve the best tonight. Miss Marshall was really something, even for a werewolf.

Damon's Bedroom

Dinner had been a lively affair. The children had been fed hamburgers earlier as they didn't care for the steak. The older teens and adults sat around the table enjoying Elijah's sumptuous Kobe beef as they got to know Hayley.

Kol asked if Damon wanted to practice his magic later and Damon said yes.

"I thought you were going to help me work on my Porsche!" Stefan exclaimed.

"What's wrong with it?" Enzo asked, popping a string bean in his mouth.

"I think there is a coolant leak," Stefan replied. "There was a puddle of oil when I finally pulled it out of the garage today."

"I suppose that is what happens when you sped and get brought home by the sheriff," Elijah chided lightly.

Hayley laughed and Kol told her the story of how Stefan got grounded from his car.

Damon leaned over and whispered, "I'll help you after school tomorrow, okay?"

Stefan shrugged, "Naw, it can't wait. You train with Kol. I'll have Enzo help me. He wants to learn engines anyway."
Damon frowned, wiping his mouth with the linen napkin.

"You sure? I can-," Damon attempted, but Stefan waved him off.

"It's fine. So, ah, how was Elena? You know, at the lake house?" Stefan prompted.

"Good," Damon answered, taking a sip of his drink. It was red wine mixed with blood. Klaus caught his eye and winked at his son. Damon raised his glass from across the table, enjoying the warmth from the alcohol as he swallowed. "I mean, it was sad and all. Actually, that John Gilbert was there and..."

"Oh no, Uncle John is such an ass. I hate that guy," Stefan interjected.

"Yeah, well, he busted me on some skeletons from my past, if you know what I mean," Damon said, looking at his brother with meaning.

"Oh, wow," Stefan responded. He and Damon had discussed his past in New York and how he had turned a few humans. Damon had even confided in him about the ring and if he should tell Ric or not. "Were they angry?"
"No, not really," Damon said, taking another sip of his wine. "I mean, maybe at first, but I honestly didn't know what I was doing back then in New York. My humanity was off."

"Yeah, not that that is an excuse," Stefan said evenly.

Hayley stood up. "Thank you all for a wonderful first day. Damon, I'm going to look in on Azul and then head to bed."

"Oh, I was just out there. He's just amazing, Hayley," Damon admitted. "Thanks for everything. Kol, you ready?"

Kol tossed his napkin on the table and guzzled his blood.
"Only if we can get out of dish duty?" Kol said, looking at Elijah for confirmation.

"Yes, go. I will tidy up," Elijah said.

Klaus frowned, "Nonsense, you made this wonderful mean, Elijah. The children are probably waiting for their story. You go, Rebekah will help me. Won't you, Sister?"
Rebekah grimaced. She knew that look. Klaus was on to her.

"Actually, I have some homework to attend to," Rebekah tried.

"Rebekah Mikaelson, you said your school work was finished," Klaus replied.

"Yes, it is. Fine. I will help you if I must," Rebekah said in irritation.

Sensing the tension, the rest of the family disappeared in record time, especially Kol.

"Tell me what is on your mind," Klaus said as they begun to clear the plates in the large dining room and carry them into the kitchen to wash up.

Rebekah stamped her foot. "How do you always know when I am up to something?"

Klaus smiled, "I've lived with you for nigh a millennium. Now, fess up and I won't thrash you as hard for snooping on my computer."
Rebekah's eyes widened and she slammed down the bread basket on the kitchen counter, letting the remaining bread bounce out but not noticing.

"Dammit, Nik, I shouldn't be forced to have to spy. You should be keeping me informed, Elijah is my brother also," Rebekah hissed.

Klaus softened a moment and then his eyes blazed with anger.

"I would have if I thought you could handle. You have been so caught up with high school that I didn't wish to distract you," Klaus snapped.

"Distract me? Are you daft? I brought this up to you last night and you didn't listen to me. What did you expect me to do?" Rebekah retorted hotly, flipping his blond hair over her shoulders. "You are wrong here, Niklaus. You can't cut me out like this. Why are you being such an incredible ass?"

"I expect you to trust me," Klaus said, trying to take her hand. "After all these years, you still don't, do you?"
Rebekah recalled a hundred wrongs done to her by her hybrid brother. She pushed him on the chest with both hands. Klaus, surprised by the venom in her eyes, stumbled back. But he caught himself quickly.

"Fuck you, Nik. Why the hell would I trust you?" Rebekah yelled.

Klaus narrowed his eyes and grabbed Rebekah by the arm. He knew that Hayley would be coming back in this way and Aaron was in his room.

"Stop it, Nik. Owww, you are hurting me," Rebekah yelped as Klaus started to drag her out of the kitchen.

"Oh, you are going to be sleeping on your stomach tonight, young lady," Klaus warned, as he dragged her into the bathroom off of the kitchen and kicked the door shut with his foot. "And be glad that I am spanking you in here and not where anyone could see."
Rebekah paled and gasped, "S-Spanking me? For what? That little push..."
"No, for not trusting me," Klaus said. "And the snooping. You are fortunate that Damon melted that magical hairbrush or I'll paddle you with it throughly right now!"

"Oww, let me up, you brute!" Rebekah argued as Klaus put his left boot on the closed toilet and flipped her over his thigh. Slap! His right hand smacked against her skirt and Rebekah hollered "Owww!"

She punched Klaus's leg, but he was stronger and simply flipped up her short skirt in the back.

Smack!

Rebekah hollered louder as Klaus' firm hand begun to warm her bottom over her nylon panties. She let us a string of curses and Klaus popped the tops of her white thighs.

Crack! Crack!

"Owwwwwieeeee, you fucker!" Rebekah shrieked, now clawing at Klaus' pant leg.

"I can soap out your mouth if I ever hear you speak like that again," Klaus growled.

Whack! Whack! Whack!

Klaus moved up his hand and cracked the center of Rebekah's bottom for the next few minutes as her curses turned to sobs. Her Original vampire healing couldn't keep up with the vigorous spanking. Soon, she was wailing and feeling contrite, her rage forgotten.

"Nikkkk, I'm sorrrrry," Rebekah pleaded.

Klaus popped her behind once more with a resounding whack and stopped.

"You are. I can tell," Klaus said, letting her up. He half expected her to clock him hard in the face, but instead she threw herself into his arms.

"Oh Rebekah, I'm here," Klaus whispered. "I'm sorry I didn't listen to you more, it's just..."

Rebekah sniffed and looked into Klaus' eyes.

"What? Niklaus, please tell me," Rebekah begged.

"Of course, I am going to New Orleans. I would never let go Elijah alone with that pit of vipers he created so long ago. But if he catches wind of it, he'll stop me. You know he will. That's why I had to keep it quiet, even from you," Klaus explained. "Now, can you trust me to take care of this? I would never let them capture us. Never."

Rebekah hiccupped and buried her face into his shirt.

"I know. I'm just sick with worry. I was thinking about our last night in New Orleans when Father came...," Rebekah said, breaking into fresh tears.

"I carried you from that city as it burned around us, did I not?" Klaus affirmed, wiping away the tears with his thumb. "I got us to Chicago where you found some happiness again with Stefan, for a time at least."

"Yes, but Marcel didn't make it!" Rebekah wept. "We can't lose anyone else."
Klaus hugged her to him tightly. "No, you are correct about that. But Father is dead and soon the Trinity will be also. Please, little sister, tell me I have your trust again. I know maybe I don't deserve it, but it would mean so much."
Rebekah pulled back. "Every time you took that dagger and plunged it into my heart, I was surprised. Call me a fool or call me foolish but I do trust you, Niklaus."
"I'm sorry," Klaus muttered, letting a tear run down his own face. Rebekah didn't know if it was for the spanking or all of the past.

"I know," Rebekah said softly. "I know, Brother. But tell me the plan and who you mean to bring with you. I have some ideas that you won't like. Time is of the essence."
