A new world, a new companion, new challenges. Yuzu has been shown a lot since she came to the Synchro Dimension, most of it perhaps problematic. Yugo has been the one showing her the ropes of how that world works. Now, it was time for the pinkette to show him something of hers in return.
The two had found themselves out of the abandoned repair shop without any hassle. After Yugo had shown Yuzu an exemplary display of a Riding Duel, Yuzu wanted to show him what Entertainment Dueling was about. One problem, however, arose:
"Now that I think about it, most of what makes Entertainment Dueling work is Action Cards." Yuzu pointed out to Yugo while both stood outside the shop. "Ideally, getting them is a goal that you and your Monsters set out to achieve to gain the upper hand, so it's best for all to see Duelists and Monsters work together. I don't really know how to replicate it."
"Tough work when you're describing a thing that none of us have even heard before." Yugo responded. "Well, you can use your Monsters to do something. They're kind of opera singers, aren't they? I actually quite like opera!"
"I mean… Glad you do, but it's not like something you won't get with a normal Duel from them…" Yuzu then thought for a few seconds while Yugo made some maintenance to his vehicle.
"Mind if I suggest something?" Bloom Diva asks, from inside Yuzu.
"I don't, go ahead." The pinkette accepts, hopeful.
"Music and sounds can come from all places. I believe we can create an interesting piece with what is offered by our environment. I doubt lush parks are a thing we can afford as we are "wanted", yet perhaps…"
Yuzu followed Bloom Diva's thoughts by asking Yugo:
"Hey, Yugo… Do you have any special places you go to in the Commons area? Some place that lifted your mood, maybe?"
"That's an odd question to just throw out, but… When I wasn't dueling, I used to hang out in scrapyards more and more as I looked for spare bike parts or anything that could help. There were some tinkerers there too. The metal sounds I could hear from them became… Oddly relaxing, after a while."
"I believe we have found our stage." Bloom Diva exclaimed, inspired by Yugo's speech.
"A scrapyard…?" Yuzu wondered, befuddled. "I mean… You seem sure you can make something out of it so… What if I duel, and I leave most of it to you?"
"We are not to make an official Performance anyhow."
After she finished with Bloom Diva, Yuzu turned back to Yugo, with this exchange:
"Would a scrapyard be fine for us to duel in? Would too much noise attract attention?"
"Well, maybe, but Security doesn't care that much. Neither do the Commons, in fact they wouldn't mind some action."
"You sure they won't call them? We are wanted, after all."
"Most of them want to see Security as little as possible anyway. Calling them will probably make things worse for everyone."
"Then you wouldn't mind if we dueled there?"
"Not at all! The nearest place isn't far from here! Come on!" At Yugo's request, she hopped onto the now ready bike to go to the scrapyard. They quickly found themselves in a deserted part of the place. There were some piles of metal around them, but they had plenty of space to duel.
"This place isn't really that bad… But are you sure you can make something work with this?" Yuzu asked Bloom Diva.
The Fairy emerged from Yuzu's mind to look around on her own, and try to find points of interest. She then deducted:
"I… Believe we can carry on our songs on our own. However, just showing the ropes of the Action Duel format might be enough for now. It is the time for all of us to know better, so let us not rush this."
Yuzu nodded in approval, then addressed Yugo directly, starting to talk with him.
"All right. I think you have shown me a good warmup of what a Riding Duel is like. Now, it's time for me to show the same… But I first need to ask you… Do you guys use Solid Vision?"
"Yeah, we do! It was introduced fairly recently to us, but it's become standard with every Duel Disk ever since."
"All right, step one is completed. Now…
The duelists meet at the battlefield!"
As Yuzu started the Action Duel chant, she realized too late that Yugo really doesn't know about it, which he demonstrated by standing there dumbfounded. Yuzu scratched her head in embarrassment.
"Hehe… Sorry. Force of habit!"
"Wha…?" Yugo asked.
"It's customary to do an introduction before every Action Duel. That'll… Probably never happen here, I realized."
"Uh… Sure. Well, I'm still raring to go, Yuzu!"
"Glad you are. Now then, let's…"
DUEL!
YUZU vs YUGO
"I'll let you start off this one!" Yugo declared. "You saw a bit of my Deck already, how about I see what yours can do?"
"Gladly!" Yuzu exclaimed, then she began. "I Summon Opera the Melodious Diva!" The little fairy came to the field with a nervous smile.
Opera the Melodious Diva (Level 4/LIGHT/Fairy/2300/1000)
"WHOA!" Yugo exclaimed, flabbergasted. "How does that little thing have a higher Attack Points than my Synchros?! Especially when it's all shy like that!" She noticed Opera's attitude right away.
"That's part of her effect. Opera cannot attack the turn she is Normal or Special Summoned." Yuzu explained.
"Oh, fair enough."
"Right after, I Special Summon Sonata the Melodious Diva in defense position since there's a Melodious Monster on the field!" Yuzu continued as Sonata descended into the stage, hands clasped.
Sonata the Melodious Diva (Level 3/LIGHT/Fairy/1200/1000)
"S…Sonata… This place is a bit scary…" Opera murmured to her companion.
"Ah, no need to worry, Opera. Just follow my lead, and you'll soon sing in all venues! Come on!" Sonata encouraged the little one as Yuzu declared her effect.
"If Sonata is Special Summoned on the Field, all Fairy monsters I control gain 500 ATK and DEF!" Following her lead, Sonata placed her hands on Opera's shoulders and sang her hymn, calming her down and having her follow.
Opera the Melodious Diva ATK 2300 - 2800 DEF 1000 - 1500

"Oh! That's… Adorable!" Yugo remarked. "It reminds me of my time at the Orphanage… Miss Kimika would try to encourage the kids like this when they were struggling." He kept staring at the scene for a bit.
"Well, that was quite unexpected, but certainly welcome." Bloom Diva commented.
"And I think I've got an idea to push this one further!" Yuzu thought back, then she came back to the duel. "I set 2 Cards and end my turn!"
Yuzu: 2 Set Cards.
"Well, Yuzu… If you think cuteness is gonna stop me, then you are so wrong!" Yugo aggressively declared. "My turn, I draw! I activate the Spell Speedroid Scratch! I discard a Speedroid monster from my Hand in order to replace it with one in my Deck! I choose Speedroid Den-Den-Daiko Duke to add! Terrortop was sent to the Graveyard to activate this effect.
"Next, I activate Surprise Shock! I can banish Speedroid Terrortop from my Graveyard to target a Monster on the field and destroy it! I'll target Opera!"
Opera recoiled from fear of Surprise Shock but she heard Yuzu immediately say. "Opera! Listen, you'll be safe from this! Just do what I tell you to do, OK?"
Yuzu then declared: "OK, Yugo, it's time for you to see the Action Cards' deal!" At that command, Opera encased a box full of bolts in a singing bubble and lifted it up into the air, making crackling noises as it ascended, with an added pinch of melody.
"Oh, wow… That's quite a lovely sound that box's making. Huh?" As Yugo marveled, Yuzu quickly jumped into the air to grab the box and pop the bubble.
"See… Treat this as an Action Card!" The pinkette explained. "It has a random effect when picked, but it's usually quite a useful one. Also, you can only have one of these in your hand at a time!"
"Ah, that's neat…" Yugo remarked, with a hint of irony: "...But it's not like a fake Action Card will stop this now, right? I've already banished Terrortop…"
"Ah, don't worry Yugo, I had that covered. I activate the Quick-Play Spell, Pianissimo! I can reduce the Attack Points of one monster to 100 and make it immune to Battle and Effect Destruction this turn!" Opera's very quiet singing had led to her surviving the lightning bolt unleashed from the Surprise Shock. Sonata, distracted with her singing, was electrocuted by the blast, but it only resulted in her smoking comically for a couple of seconds. Opera didn't even notice it.
Opera the Melodious Diva ATK 2800 - 100
"Ah… Whoops… The girls have all seen this, haven't they?" Sonata said, VERY worriedly. Upon hearing Bloom Diva chuckle at that, she panicked even further: "I'm never gonna hear the end of this!"
"Worry not, Sonata! You may treat this as part of the Entertainment Dueling." Bloom Diva kindly reassured the ashamed Sonata.
Sure enough, Yugo let out a hearty laugh. "Ah, sorry… That also reminded me of some pranks I pulled on Miss Kimika."
Yuzu gave him a small glare. But then again, it could have been an innocent thing.
"Oh well, time to make my move!" Yugo continued. "I Normal Summon Speedroid Den-Den-Daiko Duke!" A rather fancy looking creature wielding a den-den-daiko hit the stage, vigorously playing its instrument.
Speedroid Den-Den-Daiko Duke (Level 3/WIND/Machine/Tuner/1200/600)
"Ooh! What a nice sound!" Opera commented.
"It has quite the talent, displaying impressive rhythm despite its simple instrument. I am impressed." Bloom Diva followed up.
Upon seeing Opera marvel, Den-Den-Daiko stopped for a moment before looking at Yugo, almost as if it were asking something. Yugo didn't quite understand it at first, but then made a gesture to the Duke, causing it to approach Opera and play the drum toy some more, which made Opera quite happy, and everyone else warm.
"This definitely didn't turn out the way I expected!" Sonata commented. "But it's nice to see Opera when she's in her element!"
"Indeed, Sonata. I would be delighted for this Duke to visit us. Though it may not be possible…" Bloom Diva followed up.
"I want to present you to Tamtam, Den-Den!" Opera said excitedly.
The two duelists were watching the show quite fondly. Yuzu didn't expect it to turn out this way at all, it was like the opponent's monsters were also collaborating for this to be a moment of joy, rather than a Duel. Or, better yet… A way for Yugo to reminisce about his childhood.
"You got lost again…" Yuzu pointed out to the Rider. "More memories flooding?"
"Ah, yes! Despite our situation and us being in the slums, we were still quite happy when we were children… We had the loving care of Miss Kimika, our Cards, and our friends. For us, it was enough." Yugo reminisced, earning a somewhat sorrowful look from Yuzu. But then, he snapped back to the duel.
"Whoops, I got distracted again! If this Entertainment Duel is about throwing your opponent off, then you almost succeeded! Since I have a WIND Monster, I can Special Summon Speedroid Taketomborg from my hand!" The familiar stick creature came alongside Yugo.
Speedroid Taketomborg (Level 3/WIND/Machine/600/1200)
"Level 3 Den-Den-Daiko Duke tunes level 3 Taketomborg! Now, come on!" He continued, signaling to the Duke that he had work to do. Den-Den saw Yugo, then said goodbye to Opera before vanishing, and the little fairy waved him off as he got turned into stars.
"Let's play again! I will bring Tam-Tam next time!" Opera exclaimed.
"I… Do not think it will be easy…" Bloom Diva commented. Yugo then proceeded with his Summoning Chant.
"Cross-shaped magical sword, slice all your enemies with your power! Synchro Summon! Come out, Hi-Speedroid Kendama!" The familiar Synchro monster, the one that led the charge against Duel Chaser 227, hit the field.
Hi-Speedroid Kendama (Level 6/WIND/Machine/Synchro/2200/1600)
"Kendama's effect! Once per turn, I banish a Speedroid from my Graveyard to inflict 500 damage to my opponent!" A beam of light hit Yuzu's hand as Taketomborg vanished, and she blocked herself against the attack, shrugging off the hit with a smile.
YUZU LP: 4000 - 3500
"Battle! Kendama attacks Sonata the Melodious Diva!"
"Sonata, can we do another demonstration?" Yuzu instructed the Diva, who managed to understand her in spite of the situation.
"Oh, that beats getting fried in terms of performance. Here I go!" Sonata then lifted a metal ring that stood beside the two duelists.
"Oh, what now?!" Yugo asks, Yuzu hastily going for the "Action Card" and telling him:
"If you don't get the ring, no extra game time, Yugo!"
"HEY, NO FAIR! Kendama, intercept the ring!" Yugo ordered the Synchro monster, offended, to change targets momentarily. Yuzu was about to catch the ring in mid-air, only for it to have it skewered by Kendama's spear, the monster proudly raising it into the air.
"Yes, that's it, Yugo!" Yuzu exclaimed, already proud of his progress.
"I think I got that down. Now, can Kendama attack Sonata?" He asked that question as a declaration, and Kendama proceeded to lunge at the azure diva. Moreover, Yugo added: "If Kendama attacks a defense-position monster, it can inflict piercing battle damage!"
"Wait, what?"
Yuzu was a bit less pleased by that surprise damage she took, as Sonata, who braced herself against the attack, was then destroyed.
YUZU LP: 3500 - 2800
"Sonata? Please don't go!" Opera's stage fright suddenly hit her again, and she cowered.
"I set a card and end my turn!" Yugo then passed, to see Yuzu back in her position.
Yugo: 1 Set Card
"Opera!" Bloom Diva told the shivering songstress. "Now is your time! Now make your proper debut, and make your talent heard!"
Opera froze for a bit, but then… as Yuzu began her turn…
"YES, BLOOM DIVA! I AM READY!" Opera gleamed with intense light, showing everyone that she had finally gotten her stage fright aside… For now. Bloom Diva could only express joy.
Opera the Melodious Diva ATK 100 - 2300
Yuzu was visibly happy witnessing this change. The last time she hit the stage, she did nothing and got flicked to destruction by a polite fire genie. Now, it was finally time for her to shine.
"My turn! Draw!" Yuzu then looked at the Card and thought deeply. "This can definitely mean a great Finale for our show. The timid Diva now fully showing her strength. But… I don't want this to end just yet."
"If I may, I suggest you hold, also for another reason." Bloom Diva requested.
"Oh… OK then. What exactly is the reason?"
"Something I was quite curious about since I communicated with you yesterday. An uncharted script that may reveal a fascinating melody. This may be our only chance to figure it out."
"I see. Then I'm right with you. I need Yugo to get the message I know he has in his heart. Only then, I can consider my lesson complete. Your request… Might just be what I need."
After this exchange, Yuzu returned to the duel. "I Summon Soprano the Melodious Songstress!" The trusted songstress came back to the stage, operatic note and all.
Soprano the Melodious Songstress (Level 4/LIGHT/Fairy/1400/1400)
"Am I ever glad to see you sing to your heart's content, at last!" Soprano commented.
"I feel like can sing on any stage now!" Opera gleefully responded.
"Battle! Opera attacks Hi-Speedroid Kendama!" As Yuzu conducted, Opera came flying to meet Kendama face-to-face, shining brightly in the process.
"I activate my Trap Card, Burning Sonic! I target my Kendama who's targeted for an attack! I negate it, then my Kendama gains 500 ATK!" Kendama's spear was pointed towards Opera, the metal ring still skewered, which it turned into a burning ring and made it spin. Opera tried to chase it playfully, much to Kendama's confusion. It then witnessed Opera vanishing in a pink light, to then find out that Opera stole the fire ring while distracting it.
"I activate my Trap, Melodious Illusion!" Yuzu declared this as the reason Opera stole the ring. "If you activate a trap card, I negate it and Opera gets to attack twice!"
"WHAT?" Yugo exclaimed, as the innocent, pristine, yet potent singing of the little Fairy had made his Synchro Monster disappear.
YUGO LP: 4000 - 3900
"Next, Soprano attacks!" Soprano then followed with a high-pitch note, which had Yugo covering.
YUGO LP: 3900 - 2500
"And lastly, Opera goes for the double time!" Opera sang a softer note, which was quite delicate even for the opponent, who was almost floored.
"I did it! I did it!" Opera exclaimed, but…
YUGO LP: 2500 - 200
"Opera, you did fantastically, but the concert is not yet over." Bloom Diva points out.
"Hehe, sorry… I got carried away!" Opera bashfully remarked as Yuto got up.
"Heh… You were really good, Yuzu!" Yugo then got up, quite excited despite his state. "The way you play, both the Duel and the show, is really inspiring! But I think you'll get it by the time we're done here… NEVER count me out until I'm at 0! Got it?"
Yuzu smiled with pride. It feels like Yugo already has got one of the most important aspects of Entertainment Dueling: giving your all with backs against the wall. Yugo was about to solidify this.
"I activate Speedroid Gum Prize's effect! When I take damage during the Battle Phase, I can Special Summon this card from my hand! Come out!" A peculiar robot with what looked like a backpack then emerged, fully earning Yuzu's approval.
Speedroid Gum Prize (Level 1/WIND/Machine/Tuner/0/800)
"That's exactly what I wanted to hear! I set a Card and end my turn!"
Yuzu: 1 Set Card.
"He could have prevented more damage had he Special Summoned it earlier, but I'm convinced he held it off because he wanted to do more Synchro Summons with it." Yuzu thought.
"A playstyle of high risk… It is not unlike Yuya's grand acts. These sudden tempo swings can make the most exciting of songs!" Bloom Diva followed up.
"Ok then…" Yugo paused confidently as he reached for the top card of the Deck. He had always gone to luck as a last resort. It's a thrill that gives him life. And he was about to show it off at full power.
"DRAW!"
Yugo smirked when he saw what it was.
"I activate Speed Recovery! I cannot Normal Summon or Set during the turn I activate this, but it lets me revive a Speedroid Monster from my Graveyard! Come out, Hi-Speedroid Kendama!" The trusty lancer came back from a light warp in the arena.
"Level 1 Gum Prize tunes Level 6 Kendama! Flap your beautiful and heroic wings, to strike the enemy at the speed of light! Synchro Summon! Appear, Level 7 Clear Wing Synchro Dragon!" Yugo's ace had come at last, and it was time for Bloom Diva to make her move.
Clear Wing Synchro Dragon (Level 7/WIND/Dragon/Synchro/2500/2000)
"Now!"
"I activate the Quick-Play Spell, Flash Fusion! I can Fusion Summon monsters from my side of the Field!" Following Bloom Diva, Yuzu had activated this surprise. Yugo was quite surprised to see a Fusion out like this, but kept its wits on him as Yuzu proceeded with her chant.
"Angel's song! Flutter of angel wings! Let your voices ring and the melody flow! Follow the baton and stack your power! Fusion Summon! Take the stage with the song of victory! Bloom Diva the Melodious Choir!" It was time for the Choir to find what she was searching for.
Bloom Diva the Melodious Choir (Level 6/LIGHT/Fairy/1000/2000)
"Ah, there she is! This is the one card you've held this entire time, right?" Yugo exclaimed, but stopped his excitement once he saw Clear Wing fixating its gaze at the Choir. "Uh… What's wrong, Clear Wing? Her master is with us!"
"Um… You sure this was a good idea, Bloom Diva? It looks kinda angry at you…" Yuzu thought to the Fairy, who responded:
"That is fine. It is natural for them to not trust us yet, as I am born from Fusion, which got Yugo into peril in the first place. But there is something I have to uncover."
Bloom Diva rose to the sky, to meet face-to-face with Clear Wing. She put her hands up and sang a quiet tune, to attempt to calm down the Dragon and communicate with it. Clear Wing stood silently, and looked more serene as she performed. It then gestured and roared to the Fairy, its snarls getting more and more docile… Almost friendly.
"Yuzu, if I may… Please communicate what Clear Wing has to say. Though I do not comprehend it fully, I can at least understand its feelings."
"Uh, sure." Yuzu replied to Bloom Diva, then told Yugo.
"Take Bloom Diva's word for it, but Clear Wing didn't trust her fully as she was a Fusion monster."
"Huh… SHE knows that? Is that what they've been doing up there?" Yugo replied, shocked at first, but then remembering their time spent talking about those being special Cards. "Well, I'm willing to listen."
"Clear Wing wants you to know that it'll always be by your side. It wants to follow the same dreams as you do, and will do its best to bring you to the top."
"I haven't doubted that, but it's always nice to hear confirmation!"
"It also said… That… Its friends are missing."
Yugo froze in silence and contemplation. If that were all true, then his suspicions were right! Clear Wing did indeed want to find Rin!
"REALLY? Are you in with me on this, Clear Wing? Do you confirm?"
After a short pause, the Dragon nodded in understanding.
"AWESOME! We can finally get it started! We know I want this! We know Clear Wing can do this! WE KNOW Clear Wing wants to do this! It is time! CLEAR WING, WARP US TO WHERE RIN IS!"
…
…
As Yugo held up the card in the air triumphantly… Nothing happened. Everyone was watching in sheer disbelief what just transpired, and were appalled at the idiocy on display.
"Yugo… You know how we've talked about you not making the Card shine at will? Well… I think that goes the same for Clear Wing."
"...Oh." Was Yugo's only response, as he still held Clear Wing's card in the air, his optimism vanished. He then placed it back onto its proper position. Then he followed:
"Well, we will see whenever your powers feel like it, Clear Wing. Now then… We have a Duel to finish, don't we?"
Bloom Diva and Clear Wing made one last exchange, by trading a nod and a smile to one another. It seemed as if Clear Wing had finally begun to trust Fusion.
"I activate Gum Prize's effect! When it's used for a Synchro Summon, I draw a card, reveal it, and send it to the Graveyard! If it's a Speedroid Monster, Clear Wing gains that Monster's attack points!"
Yugo then drew, silently, as sure as last time, it would make him succeed."
"DRAW!"
…
"YES! It was Speedroid Razorang, with a whopping 2000 ATK to add to Clear Wing!"
Clear Wing Synchro Dragon ATK 2500 - 4500
"OK then! Battle! But… Not too hard this time! Wouldn't want you to soar high and get us detected topside! Clear Wing Synchro Dragon attacks Bloom Diva!" Yugo declared.
"We both know acting is pointless. Yet… Should we make an attempt at a high note?" Bloom Diva asked Yuzu.
"Well, Yugo showed me how Clear Wing works, so let's do the same."
After thinking, Yuzu responded to the attack. "Bloom Diva's effect! When she battles against a Special Summon Monster, she destroys your Monster and reflects the battle damage I would have taken!" The Choir readies her Reflect Shout, sharp as ever, despite fully knowing that would amount to nothing.
Yugo immediately retaliated: "Yeah, you know I am not gonna let you do that! Clear Wing's effect! When a Level 5 or higher Monster activates his effect, I negate that effect and destroy the Monster!"
As Bloom Diva was about to sing, Clear Wing put one of its fingers to cover her mouth, like it would say "Ssh!", to which Bloom Diva complied. It then pointed up for Bloom Diva to look at it and prepared some shiny dust it created with its Dichroic Mirror… Only more gently, with only one hand.
"LaaaaA-CHOO!" Opera was briefly seen protecting Bloom Diva with a melody bubble, but she caught the dust with her nose.
"Opera's effect! When she is sent to the Graveyard for a Fusion Summon, my Melodious Monsters cannot be destroyed by battle or Card effects this turn!" Yuzu declared.
"But you still will take the damage from my attack! Go for broke, Clear Wing!"
Somewhat more decisively, Clear Wing swiftly directed a wind blast towards Bloom Diva with its mouth. It was so quick Bloom Diva couldn't defend herself properly, so she took the attack to the face and got slammed to the ground…
"Whoa, whoa, WHOA!"
…Crashing into a yelling Yuzu in the process.
YUZU LP: 2800 - 0
"Yuzu! Everything OK?" Yugo ran to his opponent, a bit worried due to the dust that had formed. It was revealed that the pinkette and the Choir were floored, but safe and sound, despite the loss.
However… Bloom Diva had her hair all messed up. Her three delicate silver strings, which formed her unique style, were turned into three messy, rigid, expanding tails, bending backwards due to Clear Wing's attack. Yuzu, then Yugo, laughed out loud at the dainty Fairy's sudden makeover, which she was initially very embarrassed by, but calmed down, chuckling once she saw all others were having a good time, even Clear Wing.
This was a fine example of an Entertainment Duel, even though it did not go as expected. But improvisation is a part of playing here.
Yugo then offered a hand to the pinkette. "You know what, you really caught me with your Entertainment Dueling!"
"And you did a great job too, Yugo! You're a swift learner! Well, I did see potential in you when I saw you pulling that Trap Card in your duel Yesterday. A Trap Card that can only be activated at 1000 LP or less is only fitting of the word Comeback!" Yuzu replied, before standing up thanks to the boy. Bloom Diva then did one last curtsy to Clear Wing, who replied with a nod. The dust settled shortly after, and Yugo spoke.
"Well, once this is all settled, I wanna try out the real deal! Who knows, maybe we will mix up Riding Duels with those Action Cards in the future!"
The rider's smile kind of disappeared when he had this next thing to say:
"Also… Don't do this next time."
"Huh? What exactly?" Yuzu wondered.
"I know that you wanted me to show things and maybe your Bloom Diva had something to do with it but PLEASE, don't do this next time!"
"You mean how I used Flash Fusion, right?"
"Yeah, exactly! You could have finished me right there or at least put me in a much worse situation, but you threw the fight by using it against my Clear Wing like that. You already know how it works! I cannot reach the top by others climbing down, you know? Next time we do this, we're going all out!"
