Monday July 30

Rita and Lynn Sr woke up to the ringing of their alarm clock at 9 a.m. Lori, Leni and Luna had already left for their summer jobs. Luna found employment again in the record store she'd worked last year. The girls had decided to work full time during the entire summer to earn extra money. Lynn Jr, Luan and the twins were attending a day summer camp Shirley and Ethan insisted was good for them. The McBride family, Lincoln and Lucy were currently spending a two week vacation in Toronto, Canada.

Later that day Lynn Sr received an email from Sergei Pavlov, the owner of Aloha Comrade to come for an interview tomorrow morning at 10: 30 a.m. Rita began filling out an application on her laptop for a medical coder position at a chiropractic clinic, the first of six medical offices from the list she received.

Once Rita pressed the apply button, she read the entire job description, then clicked the upload resume button, chose 'from desktop', located her resume saved on the desktop, afterwards she completed everything then clicked 'saved'.

"Now to wait for a response," Rita muttered to herself before typing in the name of a podiatrist office.

Rita and Lynn Sr resumed their cell phone service yesterday so they could communicate with their bosses in cases of emergencies.

Tuesday July 31

Lynn Sr. woke up in quite a positive mood this morning, hoping today went smoothly for the entire family. For breakfast he prepared oatmeal, two toasted bagels with cream cheese and coffee for himself and Rita.

"Wish me luck at the interview Rita," Lynn Sr told her.

'I will honey," she replied then placed a quick kiss on his right cheek.

Five minutes after Lynn Sr locked the front door behind him, Luna entered the dining room still wearing her sleep attire.

"Morning mom," Luna greeted her mother pleasantly.

"Good Morning Luna," Rita replied.

It hadn't taken long for Lynn Sr. to start Vanzilla's engine. Uncle Lucas had taken care of the old van when he arranged for it to receive a complete overhaul in May by taking Vanzilla to his trusted mechanic in Huntington Oaks, who installed a completely new engine. Lynn Sr drove only a few minutes before eventually arriving at his destination.

"There's the place, Aloha Comrade," Lynn Sr. stated under his breath upon approaching a huge sign advertising the restaurant.

Lynn Sr. found the parking lot practically empty since the breakfast crowd departed a few minutes ago.

Once he stepped inside, Lynn Sr. glanced around for a quick inspection of the dining area before ringing a bell on the counter then sat in one of the booths. The owner of the restaurant, a diminutive guy sporting black hair wearing a Hawaiian shirt exited through the kitchen doors. Seeing Lynn Sr, the middle aged man walked briskly to where he sat.

"You must be Lynn Loud, I'm Sergei Pavlov," he uttered in a gruff Russian accent, then sat across from a somewhat nervous Lynn Sr.

Smiling broadly at the restaurant owner, Lynn Sr. stretched out his right hand towards Sergei.

'Pleased to meet you, Mr. Pavlov," Lynn Sr. said, before the man gripped his hand tightly and gave it a firm handshake.

Sergei removed a pair of reading glasses from his pocket and placed them over his eyes.

Before it slipped his mind, Lynn Sr removed his new resume from an old brown thick portfolio and held it towards Sergei.

"Heres my resume."

Sergei took the document even though it wasn't necessary for Lynn Sr. to bring a resume with him.

"Just one more question, are you a child molester?" Sergei asked.

"No, I'm not," Lynn Sr. responded firmly.

"Then welcome to Aloha Comrade Mr. Loud, you'll start as a dishwasher then build your way up to a prep cook position, you'll get paid nine dollars an hour from the start," Sergei explained.

"Thank you so much Mr. Pavlov I appreciate you giving me this opportunity to work here," Lynn Sr. said with eternal gratitude.

'"Can you start tomorrow at seven am sharp," Sergei asked.

'Definitely Mr. Pavlov," was Lynn Sr. response then he walked out of the restaurant wearing a huge smile of relief on his face.

Upon reaching home, he parked Vanzilla in the driveway. Suddenly Mr. Grouse stepped outside his front door and spotted his neighbor.

'Good Morning Loud, I see you're back," he greeted in a cordial manner.

"Morning Bud, I'm sure glad to leave that place," Lynn Sr replied.

'Its going to be mighty difficult for you and Rita find work with both of you having a criminal record.

"We're not worried about that Bud. You see Rita and I received a list of places willing to hire recently paroled persons in Royal Woods. As a matter of fact, I'm now returning from an interview at a restaurant called Aloha Comrade and I got hired on the spot."

His elderly neighbor raised his right eyebrow in astonishment at hearing the younger man's success in obtaining employment so quickly, then smiled broadly.

"I'm impressed Loud, congratulations," Mr. Grouse praised.

'Thank you Grouse."

"Well, I gotta go pick up my medicine congrats again Loud."

"Goodbye, enjoy the rest of your day Grouse."

Their conversation over, Lynn Sr. headed towards the house. At this moment Rita was sitting on the couch watching a soap opera on TV when she heard Lynn Srs. key unlocking the front door. Rita was surprised to see Lynn Sr. stepping inside the house.

"Hi Lynn, I can't believe you're back already," Rita stated

"Hi Rita."

"Take a seat and tell me how the interview went honey?"

Without hesitation her husband plopped into the armchair and spoke.

"It was a success," he began, then hesitated for a couple of seconds.

"I got the job," Lynn Sr announced enthusiastically.

Rita instantly rushed over to her husband and happily threw her arms around his shoulders, pleased at hearing such wonderful news.

'Congratulations dear, I'm so happy for you," she cheered before planting a congratulatory kiss on her husband's left cheek.

"Thanks dear," he replied.

They didn't speak for a good minute before Lynn Sr addressed his wife.

"So have you heard from the employers you've applied to?"

"Not yet honey, "Rita admitted.

"I hope it happens soon, I'm calling Albert right now and tell him the good news."

Meanwhile Albert who had been waiting inside the senior center's barber and salon to receive his weekly wash and trim heard his phone ring in his pocket and answered immediately.

"Hello Lynn what's up," Albert greeted.

'Hello Albert, guess what, I just returned from a job interview at a restaurant called Aloha Comrade and got hired immediately by the owner," Lynn Sr announced happily.

Albert's eyes widened upon hearing the wonderful news from his son in law

'Wow, congratulations LS, I'm so pleased to hear that."

"Thanks Albert," Lynn Sr. replied,

When do you start working?"

"Tomorrow morning at seven a.m. Albert."

"Wow, I wish you luck, bye Lynn."

After both men hung up, Lynn Sr watched the remainder of the soap opera with Rita.

Time skip -6:10 p.m

During dinner Rita glanced over at Leni and Luna's direction while eating their lynnsagna and smiled warmly at her daughters. Lori always arrived home at exactly 8 pm, her work hours being 9:30 am to 7:30 pm with an hour lunch break.

"So how was work today?" Rita asked both girls

Luna waited until she finished chewing.

'We only had around less than ten customers today," Luna admitted

"Just the usual today mom, nothing exciting," Leni chimed in.

Suddenly someone was heard unlocking the front door and Lori stepped inside and headed immediately towards the dining room.

"Lori you're home earlier,' Rita exclaimed, taken completely by surprise.

"Oh, I forgot to mention the managers of all the Smoothie Queens in Royal Woods are having an important meeting today at 5:30 pm at the library so they closed early and sent their employees home."

"All right then," Rita replied then Lori headed upstairs to freshen up before joining everyone else.
