A/N: Here you go part 2! Hope you like the lore dump
Enjoy!
Luz's Forms:
Default Form-Luz's default form is that of a tall average built light purple - skinned humanoid with messy brown hair with black streaks. She has two horns sticking out of her head and possesses dark purple scales all over her body. She has sharp teeth, fangs, and webbed ears. Additionally she has claws, a tail with a tail-fin at the tip, and dark magenta reptilian eyes that is always kept no matter what form she takes.
Human Form-Luz's human form is that of a younger version of her mother with the exception of being taller than average, retains her sharp teeth from her default form, and keeps her hair in a pony tail.
Basilisk- Luz mentions that she has a basilisk form but it is yet to be seen
Items/Equipments:
Potions-Luz keeps a variety of basic level potions on her person. She usually makes them with Eda's help.

Raging Triclops: Hey nerds. How's the library?
Danger Noodle: it's actually pretty nice! I'm currently trying to look up some books about basilisks. Not having much luck with it though. God there's so many books here
Raging Triclops: have you tried asking the librarian for help?
Danger Noodle: I tried but I can't find any of them. Oh wait gotta go! Bo's calling me. Says she needs help carrying a book. Wow that is one huge book! Anyways see ya!
Raging Triclops: By the way if you see my photo there the picture was taken out of context!
BardChick14: Doubt
Raging Triclops: Quiet you!
"Easy! It's slipping!" Bo said as she watched as Luz struggled to carry a huge book towards a table.
Luz had to increase her size just to be able to carry the book but still struggled due to how ridiculously large it was being twice their size!
"And...there!" Luz exclaimed as she finally placed the book on the table "Man is that book heavy" she said as she returned to her normal size and looked over the title "The Unabridged History of the Art of Healing?"
"Yeah. I got assigned to make a book report about it. Now if you'll excuse me I need to do some reading for this before I take it home with me" Bo said before she sat down, opened the book and began to read with her face right in front of the page
"Alright. You do you. I'm gonna go look for some books about Basilisks" Luz said. She had been trying to look for some books about her kind when Bo called her for help. She had been unable to find one about the wailing star though.
"Oh you're looking for a book on basilisks? I think they're right over there by the beasts sections near the children's area" Bo said as she briefly looked up from her book and pointed in the direction of a bunch of books under the beasts of the boiling Isles section.
Luz gave a quick thanks before walking in the direction she was pointed to. On the way she passes by an area called the reference section, where witches are watching things on crystal balls which in the Isles seems to function akin to a TV and computer. She saw one watching a "HOW TO FLY" video, another was watching a piano cat parody, and a third was stuck on a loading screen, dial-up internet noises emitting from it. The last witch slaps the crystal ball a few times.
"Cool" Luz said in awe as she took in more of the magical library.
Eventually she reached her destination. She immediately goes through the bookshelf to find what she's looking for. The books all seemed to be in alphabetical order so she skimmed over to the B section.
"Alright let's see here...Yes! here we go" She said as she pulled out a book with the name Basilisks on the side only to freeze in place when she saw the full title
"The Genocide of the Basilisk Race?" She said with a horrified look on her face as she took in the cover of a book which had what looked like a witch beheading what she could only assume was a basilisk.
"Nope" She said as she quickly put the book back in place. She was not too keen to read about how her kind was apparently wiped out. She briefly wondered why would the basilisks experience a genocide before she remembered Eda's words about how if the wrong people find out that if she herself was a basilisk it wouldn't end well.
She didn't realized her hands were shaking as she looked around
'Do Basilisks have a bad reputation here? Is that why Eda told me not to tell everyone? Boscha and the others didn't seem to care but...' Luz thought and without thinking she had changed into her human form. Not wanting to think about such negative thoughts she quickly shook her head and began to look for a different book hopefully an unbiased encyclopedia this time.
This time she found another book labeled "Eberwolf's Unbiased Guide to Mythical Beasts. From A to Z: Translated Edition"
"Unbiased? Nice" Luz quickly opened the book and looked through the table of Contents and much to her joy there was a section about Basilisks and their categories "Hopefully this one doesn't just have an entire empty page" She said in amusement remembering the one King read to her a while back. She then brought the book with her and sat down on a nearby table.
Boy she couldn't help but feel excited! She was finally about to learn more about her dad's species!
She then turned the Page and began reading...

Basilisks
A potentially extinct race of Beast Demons that once inhabited the Boiling Isles. They are known for their ability to Shapeshift and Absorb Magic...
Luz immediately paused at that last part.
'Hold up! Absorb Magic?! Basilisks can do that?!' Luz thought shocked at the idea. She thought back to what she did to Warden Wrath. She had always assumed that her ability was to absorb life force like a vampire but it didn't cross her mind that it was magic that she absorbs. No wonder she felt so energized the next day.
Reading that basilisks were only potentially extinct though gave her renewed hope that her goal of finding others like her is not an impossible one.
She continues reading
Biology
Basilisks are a member of the Beast Demons Category.
Normally Basilisks have semi-humanoid upper bodies, with their lower resembling a snake's tail. Similar to other reptile creatures, they are covered in scales, have claws, serrated fangs, nictating membranes, and a wedge at the end of their tail, although they grow hair like mammals do, mainly on their heads and other parts of their body. They have exceptionally wide heads resembling a snake's and visible lips, but with webbed ears and glossy, frog-like eyes that are noted to usually have large black irises.
Basilisks are also known to be have light greencoloredblood instead of red.
Basilisk skin are also known to be resistant to magic.
Additionally Basilisks lacks hearts. Instead they have what is known as Galdorstones that functions as their vital organ (See Basilisk Heart Section for more details)
Note: This description mostly applies to Basilisks falling under the Common Category (See Sub species section for more details) as other variants of Basilisks are noted to each have their own unique traits that sets them aside from the rest of their species.
There was a photo of what appears to be a Basilisk with a note of "Image of a Lesser Basilisk" next to it
Luz looks herself over. For the most part she possess a lot of these traits except for the frog like eyes and of course she has legs which she assumes is because of her being only a half breed.
Although now she wasn't sure what sub species her father is which would be difficult to figure out on account of him being gone but hopefully the book should help her find out more. Maybe she could look herself over and figure it out.
She looks at the bit where it says about Basilisk having different blood color which she confirms is right.
She also looked at the part about lacking a heart. It explains a lot about that doctor's visit at least. Although what the heck is a Galdorstone?
Basilisk Heart
The Galdorstone is the heart and soul of a Basilisk. If it's taken away, the Basilisk dies and it's believed that their memories are stored in the stone. If a Basilisk gives it's Galdorstone to someone else, they can allow them also see their memories and feelings and as a bonus if the receiver is a magic user, their powers are increased tenfold using the Galdorstone's magic enhancing abilities.
The Galdorstone is normally located on the same spot as a witch's heart and bile sack. Under the lungs, between the end of the ribs, but the Galdorstone is not only a heart and soul, it is also the brains of a Basilisk.
Basilisks can take their own Galdorstone out of their body, but at that moment they are most weakest. They can't shapeshift or absorb magic and they also can't regenerate, since the Galdorstone is their source of life and power
If a basilisk dies but it's galdorstone isn't taken or broken to pieces, it is believed that they could be revived through an unknown ritual but they need to find their Galdorstones first. Otherwise they will die permanently, if the Galdorstone is broken so as long as it is intact, Basilisks are functionally unkillable
Additionally the Galdorstone is said to be where a Basilisk stores the magic they absorb (See Basilisk Abilities Section for more Details)
Note: It is believed that due to Basilisk being the only known source of Galdorstones it is theorized that this may have contributed to their extinction due to people wanting to get their hands on the magic enhancing capabilities of the stones and thus hunters resorted to hunting them down.
Luz's eyes widened at the image of what looked like a blue crystal with the word "Image of a Galdorstone" beneath it.
"Well that was eye opening. That explains why I don't have a heartbeat" Luz said as she placed a hand over the place where her heart er Galdorstone should be and like she said there was no heartbeat at all.
She was curious though about how Basilisks take out their hearts. Could she do that? Then again its probably really dangerous judging by how the book says removing the heart weakens a basilisk.
Behavior
Basilisks were initially presumed to have been a ravenous and animalistic species which is an opinion shared by most people who even go as far as to tell their children scary stories about Basilisks who would eat people despite no record supporting that a Basilisk ever killing people beyond self defense.
In fact contrary to popular belief it is very possible that Basilisks may have been a peaceful race as further studies of their fossil shows that they may have been herbivores (See Diet section for more Details) and thus would have no reason to attack other creatures unless it is to defend themselves.
Luz let out a hum at that "Well that's ironic cause I don't like vegetables" she said in amused tone. It was at least nice to see that Basilisks were not savages.
Basilisk Abilities:
Basilisks are known for two abilities. Magic absorption and Shape shifting. Though some records suggest they also had quite some talent when it comes to nurturing plants and beasts. Additionally they have some regeneration abilities that allows them to recover from serious injuries that would kill a normal creature.
Shape shifting:
All Basilisks possess the ability to change their shape or shape shift to copy the appearance of others if not take on their own form.
Basilisks are also able to shapeshift into other beings right down to the individual's DNA, perfectly matching their height, voice, body weight, unique physical characteristics, and even copying their clothing. They are all physiologically capable of this, but accurate shapeshifting requires practice and talent. However, they cannot mimic any supernatural or superhuman powers and abilities of the person they've copied though they are able to copy natural biological abilities
When a basilisk transforms the process uses magic, though the amount needed varies for each Basilisks. It should be noted that this does not apply to every Basilisk as some variants have been noted to lack a need to absorb magic first and instead are able to transform as much as they want to (See sub species section for more details)
Note:
Because of their unique biology, a basilisk's body is able to adjust to whatever form they take though they seem to be unable to cast magic even if they take the form of witches. The reason for this is unknown.
Luz pouted at that. She had been studying about witches bile sack with Bo's help but try as she might she is unable to recreate the ability to perform magic via spell circle so it was disappointing to see that even the book didn't know why Basilisks are unable to do so.
Although she had been confused when it said that Basilisk needs to absorb magic first since as far as she can remember she has been transforming all the time even before she came to the Isles and not once did she ever need to absorb magic first.
Maybe once she gets to the sub species section it can explain. If she's lucky she could find out what variant she and her dad belongs to as well.
Magic Absorption
The Basilisk's most universally feared ability for is their ability to drain magic from other creatures.
Basilisks are capable of draining magic from both living and deceased creatures, and the magic can be drained either directly from the witch or demon, or indirectly via consumption of a spell circle. Magic that hasn't been used for transformation by the basilisk is stored in it's galdorstone. On that note, basilisks are able to consume magical items as a substitute to absorbing magic from live creatures directly.
When a creature is drained of its magic, the afflicted individual is left very weak and with a pale skin tone. While basilisks are capable of killing a person by draining them completely of magic, this is a very rare occurrence and is usually only seen in cases of self defense.
The limit to this ability seems to be the range as creatures who keep their distance are able to avoid getting their magic drained. Though beyond that not much is known about this ability due to the lack of living basilisk around to study.
Luz once again thought back to the warden. Her range when it comes to absorbing life force er magic has always been like a vampire as in she needs to get in very close and personal or at the very least have a good hold on her target.
She briefly got an image of using her magic absorbing ability to win a witch duel easily before she realized that would be kinda cheating.
She shook her head and continued reading.
Diet
It is believed by most that Basilisks feeds on magic and flesh for sustenance but this is false.
After further studies of the old records. Basilisks consumed a herbivory diet which consisted of fruits and vegetables. They were also known to have a sweet tooth and thus would consume mooshroom cream and firebee honey.
There were records that state that they were great bakers and were considered the best having invented the famous Firebee Honey cake but it is unknown if this is true.
Luz lets out an amused chuckle. It was great to see that her kind also had a sweet tooth like her.
The mention of firebee honey cake caused her stomach to grumble though.
"I know what I'm eating after this" Luz said as her mouth watered a little while looking at a picture of a firebee honey cake.
Habitat
Basilisks did not stay in any once place for too long as they were believed to be a nomadic species and would instead frequently travel around the Isles. They do appear to prefer areas with a hotter or wetter climate on account of being cold blooded. The only exception appears to be the Artic Basilisks who prefer the cold climates of the knee(See sub species section for more details)
Note: While Basilisks did not have a particular settlement they were said to have breeding grounds where they would habitually breed once a year. It is also unknown where these breeding grounds were located or if they are still around in the present day
Luz frowned. She had been hoping the book would know in hopes that she would be able to find it but alas. She's gonna have to look for it on her own in the future.
Her curiosity piqued though upon reading the mention of an artic basilisk. She was tempted now to skim over to the sub species section but she needed to be patient. There was no rush.
Though she did skim over the reproduction section due to it only containing information about Basilisks laying eggs.
Sex and Courting
According to studies of the old records because of their shape shifter physiology and apparent complete lack of genitals, the Basilisks are universally sexless and therefore choose the gender they wish to identify. This seems to apply to all variants of Basilisks except for the Changeling Variant(See Sub species section for more details)
This ties into their mating ritual which while not much information is known it seems to involve some form of trial to determine who will bear the eggs and who will plant the seed between a Basilisk Couple.
Luz briefly stared at the first part. The idea of Basilisks being biologically genderless was interesting but unfortunately as far as she was concerned she was born a girl and the fact that the book mentions that only a variant called Changeling are not included already gave her an idea what variant she may belong to.
She did find the mating ritual interesting though. She did briefly wonder though if she would lay eggs if she were to have kids in the future.
Naming Culture
In Basilisk culture, they don't use pronouns or names, but rather refer to each other with titles. Such as "The Kind one" or "The Elder One," there will always be two common title in each Nest (group of Basilisks) and that's The Father or The Mother, the ones who are tasked with taking care of the nest.
Basilisks find titles very important to their identity, titles involving nice words like Calm, Loved, Wise are common. It's quite uncommon to have titles like The Warrior, The Feared, The Savage, but those who do, are often seen as outcasts due to their pacifist nature.
In their culture it's deeply offensive to speak bad of their title. Anyone who speak bad of a basilisk's title will be seen as enemies and may be attacked on sight. Meanwhile Basilisks who commits sins against their nest will have their title stripped away and become a Nobody, and may be abandoned.
The ones who decide the titles are The Father or The Mother of the nest and the eldest Basilisks in the group. It is possible for a Basilisk to have more than one title and those that do are seen in higher regards by their fellow basilisks.
"I wonder what my Title would be? Probably something like the Kind hehe" Luz said in amusement. She wonders if it has to be a basilisk who gives her a title since her mom could give her one
Just then she turned the page and she couldn't help but grin. She was finally at the sub species page.
"Alright! This is the moment I've been waiting for" She said excitedly as she began to read
Basilisk Sub Species
There are two types of Basilisks. Those that fall under the Common category and those that fall under the Abnormal category.
Common Basilisks
Basilisks of this category made up majority of their population. Members of this category typically share the same appearances and abilities for the most part. When a creature is called a basilisk one is usually referring to those that belong to this category.
Notable Common Basilisks:
-Fat Tail Basilisk
-Frilled Basilisk
-Greater Basilisk
-Elder Basilisk
Note: Beyond physical attributes there is no known major distinction between Common Basilisks except for Greater and Elder Basilisks being larger in size and being said to be able to transform without the need to absorb magic first.
Luz looked over the sections of Common Basilisks and their images. From the looks of it the closest type she belongs to would be the Elder Basilisk which she theorizes would be what her father also is if she remembered correctly about how her mother would talk about what he looked like when in his basilisk form.
She couldn't help but whistle though at the huge amount of Basilisks listed but then again she probably should have expected it from a race or shapeshifters. Though the constant listing of Extinct next to the variant mood did bring the mood down for her a little.
Shaking her head she looked at the other Category
Abnormal Basilisks
Basilisks that possesses unique and distinctive traits fall under the abnormal category. Basilisks of these categories were known to possess special abilities and traits that set them aside from the rest of their race. As they are a rare bunch they made up a small number of the Basilisk population
Known Abnormal Basilisk
-Ocean Basilisk
-Storm Basilisk
-Spitter Basilisk
-Chameleon Basilisk
-Hydralisk
-Gorgon Basilisk
-Jaw Basilisk
-Artic Basilisk
-Changeling
Luz couldn't help but be fascinated as she went through each variant of the abnormal basilisks. They all had unique looks and even abilities that made her go wow like the Artic Basilisk being able to shoot out ice beam and the Chameleon Basilisk being able to go invisible.
She couldn't help but be unnerved though by the Gorgon and Jaw basilisk due to how scary they looked. It didn't help that they were classified as really dangerous and were known to actively hunt down Witches and demons for food.
One thing for sure though she did not belong to either of the two.
When she got to the Changeling variant though she paused. One of the image source used looked a lot like her. The only difference was the person in the image had a different color scheme going on but other than that there were a lot of striking similarities.
Changelings
Are an extremely rare breed of basilisks. They are the result of the union between a basilisk and that of another race, making them half breeds.
Basilisks were capable of interbreeding with other races, and at least a few instance of a basilisk interbreeding with other races has been recorded.
The offspring of a basilisk and another race is a separate, hybrid species known as a Changeling. Changelings seem to inherit traits and power from their Basilisk parent and their other parent at random.
One Changeling(See image source for Changelings) strongly resembles her basilisk father, inherited majority of his abilities and is capable of shape shifting as well as many other feats. Although it appears she is only capable of absorbing magic through physical contact and often requires to get in close proximity to absorb magic from another magical being.
Meanwhile, another Changeling, has inherited almost none of his basilisk parent's abilities, and his only ability as a basilisk is invisibility and magic resistance as he instead inherited the ability to cast magic from his other parent.
Additionally unlike the rest of their kin, Changelings are usually born Bipeds and more often than not still possess a basilisk tail. They also seem to be the only variant that are not born sexless and can also shapeshift without the need to absorb magic first
These traits made Changelings very difficult to pin down as due to their hybrid physiology they can easily be mistaken for another demon or witch. As a result it is unknown if they are truly extinct or are just in hiding.
This make them one of the only Variants to only be potentially extinct.
After she finished reading the entry, Luz looked up from the book and seemed to process what she just saw.
After a few seconds she opened her mouth
"I think I know what Variant I am now"
To be continued...
A/N: Yeah I don't know how to write encyclopedia entries but I hope the info dump was good enough LoL.
Also have you guys seen the finale? Yeah I'm just gonna go cry my eyes out since my favorite show is now over before I spend the foreseeable future writing owl house fan fiction. This may or may not be the reason I split the chapter into three parts once again LoL.
For those of you who wanted to see a full entry on the abnormal basilisk category I will post a separate chapter later that covers them. I just didn't want to get repetitive too much with each entry.
As always if you have questions feel free to ask and I will answer.
Anyways see ya next update!
