Hado sat on a chair. She took a deep breath, looking straight at Izuku. And then, she started to speak.
"My planet is located in a vast stellar system. There are ten planets around it, and the larger ones have planet-sized moons. Much like Sol, I suppose. My civilization was born on Tir Na nOg, a beautiful, lush planet rich of resources, brimming with life." She looked up, and Izuku could imagine her look at the stars even in their small room. He could see in her eyes the sincere longing for her world. "We, the Faedians, were the first sapient species of our System, and we are rather unique. I'd call us eusocial, but that is not entirely correct, since unlike other eusocial species we can survive in solitude. However, like those, we are fundamentally tied to a hierarchy of some kind. In our case, there are three classes. The Workers, the Soldiers, and the Nobles."
"That's…"
"I know." She raised her hand, "I know how it sounds. But it is inherently part of our species. All Faedians are born with the ability of controlling a form of internal energy we possess. It's a unique energetic charge that can't be described as light or electricity. You have felt it yourself during our spars. It's not found anywhere else in the universe, and even Faedians don't really know what it is, in terms of physics, since it doesn't behave like any other form of energy, so we just call it Gring Wave." She smiled, "Workers can control their Spiral Wave to grasp objects, lift them and transport them. Soldiers turn their Gring Wave in what we call the Stinger, an energy blast that can easily pierce through stone and metal. And Nobles have such fine control they can use it to fly, and they can channel their Gring Wave through their voice in an invisible force capable of influencing other Faedians."
"Wait… but I've seen you do both things." He said, "You can fly, you can use the Stinge, and you can use that invisible force."
"I'll… Get there. I just need to explain to you what that entails in full. I need you to explain why what I am is so important." She said. Izuku nodded, and Nejire breathed in, "Despite our society being so compartmentalized, we still wanted to progress. Workers and Soldiers were all encouraged to deepen their knowledge in whatever field interested them, so long as it didn't take away from anyone's survival. This is how we developed our system of education. This is how we developed our technology. I wasn't lying when I said that Faedians are encouraged from a young age to pursue what they want to do in every way. Despite nature having given us classes, we didn't see those below as inferior." She smiled, "That was the true golden age of my people. We discovered how to use soundwaves to mine in a more nature-friendly manner, we discovered machines that made our lives easier, we entered a nuclear age of our own. We were… advanced."
She shook her head, "And then, one day, we reached space. The Intergalactic Community contacted us, like they contacted Earth, and explained us what the rules were. Including the rule of the System being exclusive property of the sapient species inside that System. It's a fine law. It prevents the expansion of larger Empires at the expenses of smaller, nascent space-faring nations. But it says nothing of what happens if multiple sapient species live in the same System."
Izuku froze. That sounded ominous. An idea was starting to form in his mind, but surely… surely he was wrong.
"We explored the other planets, and many, to our surprise, were inhabited. Other species, behind technologically but at our same level of intellect, with their own cultures, histories… It should have been a good moment. It should have spelled only good things for our future." She trembled, and Izuku instinctively grabbed her hands. She smiled, "Thank you. But going back to my story… Unfortunately, Nobles didn't think the same. They saw them as competition. They had seen the Intergalactic community, they had seen its power, and they knew the resources of Tir Na nOg alone weren't enough. They needed them gone, but they knew that our species wouldn't agree… if they weren't forced to."
"How? You said Nobles can influence the other Faedians, but…"
"One Noble's power carries so far as his voice. But if more come together, if they all make their Gring Waves resonate… It extends more and more. It covers a city, a nation, a continent… And with enough, a world. And with that, they did it. The entire Faedian species, overnight, agreed that the other sapient Species in our system were enemies." She gulped, and Izuku in her eyes saw nothing but disgust and terror, "They agreed they had to be removed."
Izuku felt a shiver down his spine, "They…"
"Killed them. All of them. Nation after nation, continent after continent, planet after planet. We were more advanced, we were unnaturally strong, our soldiers didn't need weapons beyond their own Stingers. We were unstoppable. And so… they didn't stop us." She had tears in her eyes.
"But you weren't there, Hado." She had told Izuku she had arrived on Earth as a child. It wasn't her fault, he told himself.
"It doesn't matter. The sin we Faedians committed is too great. We are a genocidal species. We destroyed so many people that there is no way we can ever atone. And what's worse is that my people don't see that! They all think what they did was right! That it was normal! That it was the natural course of life!"
"What Chikugo said…"
"Most Aliens species don't regret causing extinctions? That's true, but most Aliens species don't hard-code themselves to purposefully do it. If it was an accident, we could understand it. If it was the natural course of evolution, species outplaying other species in the competition for resources, we could. But this wasn't that. There was no reason to do any of this. We could have cooperated! W-we could have co-come to an understanding! We could have done so many things that were better than this monstrous act we committed for no reason!"
"Hado…"
"And what's worse is that that act is why I was born! I can't detach myself from it, because they created me for it."
"Created?"
"I…" She sighed, "During the invasions, near the end, at a time where the main worry Nobles had was what would happen if the Intergalactic community decided to intervene – a question they should have asked earlier – they questioned why we needed to put Nobles in danger during battle just to give orders to the soldier. The wondered what would happen if we raised a hybrid class, Nobles and Soldiers having children. It was something unheard of, but nonetheless they tried. And so… I was born. A child created to one day be a General, the first of many."
"Except that it didn't work. My Gring Waves don't function properly. Even at full power, my Stinger is not as powerful as a Soldier's, and my power of control is weaker. Plus, like the Nobles, I'm unable to attack, I can only defend myself. It's something hard coded within our minds, but it meant I couldn't even be used as a weaker Soldier effectively." She clenched her hands into fists, "I wasn't the perfect fusion they wanted, so they scrapped me. But what was even worse, for them, was that I was immune to the other Nobles' Gring Waves. I was born as the only Faedian that cannot be influenced by other Feadians. That's why I'm the only Faedian in the universe that understands what we did."
She smiled weakly, "They had created an outcast that was born with the understanding of all the evil they had done, and they couldn't have that. So, they sent me away. When the Intergalactic fleet arrived, they demanded assurances the Faedians would never leave their System without permission, since they clearly couldn't be trusted. Among those insurances, the Faedians offered me. My mother offered me, without a shred of doubt. She said a Noble's daughter was valuable." Nejire snorted, "The Intergalactic fleet believed it at first, and they took me along with the rest of the insurances. Then they realized they had been duped, and looked for a planet to dump me on. The HASC offered."
Izuku didn't know what to say, "Hado…"
"There you have it Izuku. What it means to be useless. My entire species despises me as an outcast that can do nothing to help them. Because I don't believe- no, because I'm not forced to believe in the fact a System-wide genocide was a good idea. Because I think we should cooperate with others. That's my sin."
"It's not a sin! Hado, you are amazing! You are a nice person, no matter what your Species is like. You are not-"
"I'm a Faedian, Midoriya. That's what the other Aliens see when they look at me. They have heard the stories of what we have done. When they see me, they think they are dealing with some isolationist, genocidal creature that wants to harm them." She had managed to not cry, Izuku noticed, until then, but in that moment the dam broke, "A-And what am I supposed to tell them? That I'm not like that? Why would they believe me?"
"Komori and Kodai did."
"Komori is from the other side of the Galaxy compared to the Faedians and was raised here, and Kodai was born on Earth. They are exceptions, and even they were worried about me for a while. We became friends, but I can't befriend every Alien in the Galaxy, and even if I did, then what? Me being good doesn't stop my entire Species from having built a System-wide Empire built on the deaths of uncountable people." She looked away, "The truth is, I'm an outcast. My species despises me and I them, even if I try my best to only look at the bright sides of my culture, at what we were before that day. The Aliens I want to protect see me as dangerous, scary, or untrustworthy. And even as a HASC Agent, what can I do? My powers only work to defend myself. They are inherently built for an egoist caste."
Izuku thought back to her other fights. Hado had thrown herself against both Devilfish and Kitamura, even getting in his way the first time. He had thought it was because she didn't trust him, but in reality, it was because she could only defend him if she was being attacked. The Cold One… "How did you attack the Cold Ones?"
"They were causing the storm. I gambled that counted as them attacking me."
"And in training…"
"I'm under attack from my sparring partner." She said. She chuckled, even if it sounded weak, "Midoriya, you are the only person I know that would hear all this and ask a clarification about my powers."
He blushed, "I'm s…"
"Don't say sorry. It's nice." She smiled, even through the tears, "I'd be more worried if you suddenly were afraid to ask."
Izuku had so many questions he wanted to ask instead, but one was the most important, "Didn't Kanamoto say he arrested a Faedian? How does that work?"
"We don't know. Lately, Faedians have been spotted here and there across the galaxy. No one knows what they are doing, and officially they are rogue travelers whenever we ask the Fae Empire, people that 'we are welcome to imprison or send back home as we prefer'." She shook her head, "I don't know what my species is doing. I just hope it won't hurt more people."
Izuku nodded, and for a while they stayed there, him sitting next to her on a pair of chairs in his hospital bedroom, in silence. "I don't think you are useless, Hado." Izuku finally said, "No matter what other says, no matter what Faedians are… I think you are the best partner I could have ever had."
She smiled back. The tears had stopped, and she looked relieved. Izuku supposed it made sense she was so worried. "And you aren't useless either, Midoriya. Never think that."
Izuku nodded and smiled back. He decided to push aside his doubts on himself, at least for a while.

Hado eventually left back out of the window. She had probably heard something, because not a minute later Izuku's door opened and a nurse looked at him, still awake. She lightly chastised him for being awake so late at night, checked on him to make sure he was fine, and then left.
Izuku stayed in his bed, looking up at the roof. What Hado had just told him was… a lot, to process.
The first realization he had was a happy one: he didn't see her differently, as a person. He wasn't suddenly scared of her or doubting her. This was Nejire Hado, his partner, and he had meant every single word he had said earlier.
Everything else… Well, it made sense of a lot of things. Why every Alien they met was either scared or confrontational, when they recognized her as a Faedian. Why she seemed so reluctant to use her powers. Why she had thrown herself in the way during their fight with Devilfish. Why Kanamoto had tried to convince him to look into the Faedians, if he had read the files about them before. Even her comment about humans being the only ones that regret causing extinctions. He had assumed that was true for her too, but she was talking about her species. About the fact that having that sense of regret made her different from them all.
She didn't deserve this. She didn't deserve to be an outcast. And yet she was always going to be.
Izuku had always thought he was the unlucky one. Being Quirkless lead to not have many friends. No, in fact… he wasn't sure he ever had any. Kacchan was going to be a great Hero, but a great person he was not. Not yet at least. Izuku believed, he truly believed in his potential. He truly believed that he would be a Hero everyone could look up to one day… or at least a Hero everyone could rely on. Like Endeavor. Not someone people rooted for like All Might, but someone people relied on.
But he wasn't a friend, was he? Izuku hadn't had the chance to try it before, but now that he had friends he understood the difference was night and day. What he had with Kacchan was an hostile acquaintance he latched on because it was better than admitting he was completely alone. The best proof of that was, Izuku realized, that he had never tried to reach Kacchan since joining the HASC, not even to make sure their last words to each other wasn't what Kacchan said that day before leaving class.
He was an outcast before, but could he even compare to Hado's situation? No, not even close. She was despised by everyone before joining the HASC. Izuku had his mom, his dad – absent as he might have been, he cared about him – and…
Well, not much more, but it was something. Hado, before the HASC, had nothing. And even in the HASC, she didn't have the best reputation. Izuku hadn't asked about the rumors, but he could make some guesses. Maybe she hadn't managed to help someone, because her Noble instincts kicked in and stopped her from attacking at a crucial point. Maybe people didn't like working with her because she had to throw herself at the enemy during combat, if she wanted to win, putting herself in danger.
Did that bother Izuku? Well, the fact she had to put herself in danger did, but for her sake.
'I need to be stronger.' Izuku decided. Looking at his hand, feeling the sting from the pain even through the mild painkillers he was getting, and thinking about partnering with Hado in the future, he knew he had to get stronger. For himself, and for her. Strong enough that in a fight Hado would trust him enough she wouldn't feel the need to throw herself in the way every time. Strong enough she wouldn't have to hurt herself.
Strong enough he could save everyone. That hadn't changed, and never would. Izuku wasn't a child. He knew it was impossible to save everyone in the world alone. But everyone he could see? Everyone he could reach? He would save them, no matter what.

The next day was a flurry of visits. The first that showed up, accompanied by Doctor Hatsume, was Mei Hatsume herself. The Doctor had to bodily hold her back from just jumping on him to hug him, so Mei – Izuku felt he could call her that in his mind in this situation – settled for taking a deep breath and then hugging him tight.
She had a lot of muscle, Izuku noticed feeling the vice grip around his back and shoulder. He supposed she needed it as engineer that had worked on heavy stuff in the past, but it was still a surprise. She was better built than the other girls in the HASC, frankly. He shook the thought aside – which was hard given Mei was clearly doing her best to crush his spine in a bear hug – and hugged her back.
"I'm ok Hatsume." He whispered, "It's alright."
"I-I'm sorry Midoriya. It's my baby's fault, right?"
"What?" Izuku asked, confused.
"I-I thought the glasses would help…" She was crying in his shoulder, he realized, "But they distracted you, right? That's why you got hurt, right?"
"What? No. No! Hatsume, your glasses were a great help. I lost after I…" He gulped, "I lost them. I'm sorry, I think they were left in Hokkaido."
"If they didn't bring them back in, they probably got broken anyway." Doctor Hatsume chimed in.
"So… It wasn't my fault? But I thought… You are amazing, so I figured…"
"I lost a fight, Hatsume. I'm a Trainee, not a combat expert."
"I will build you something better." Hatsume promised, "Not just better glasses, but better everything. You will never get hurt again."
"I…" He wanted to say it wasn't likely she could do that – he had picked a dangerous way of life – but he shook his head, "Alright Hatsume. I'm counting on you."
He realized his mistake when he noticed the glint in her eyes, suddenly free of tears and filled with something else. Doctor Hatsume snorted as Mei stood back up.
"Alright, then we are going to start with some Mech Gloves. We can probably integrate the Orgue in them! And then I will build you that Jump-Extender I've been working on! Ah, maybe a Gravity Suit too, and then…"
"You just gave an Hatsume woman permission to experiment with you, Midoriya." Doctor Hatsume said with a grin on her face that told Izuku he should make sure to keep quiet with her about cybernetic implants, if he didn't want to wake up as a cyborg one day, "My my, I can see what she sees in you…"
"I-It's not like that, we are just friends!" Izuku said, "T-Tell her Hatsum- EH?!"
Mei had pulled out a tape measure and pulled up his shirt, and was currently measuring his flanks. Izuku yelped, and reflexively pulled it back down. Hatsume pouted, and Doctor Hatsume snorted again. "Yes, I can see the pure platonic feelings from here. I undress my friends all the time." She said with a sarcastic tone that turned Izuku bright red.
"But you do Auntie Aimi." Hatsume pointed out.
Doctor Hatsume made an indignant sound that was between a groan and a gasp.
"I mean, most of your friends are from the Cyber-Implants Program, right?"
Izuku looked at her and Doctor Hatsume sighed. "Hatsume, what I do with my friends is none of your business. And you might remember Midoriya, we mentioned it yesterday. Alien tech comes with a lot of cybernetic augmentation." Her eyes turned to a dangerous light, "Do you want some?"
"Ah." Izuku had noticed some. The left eye of the Osaka Chief was noticeably cybernetic, so he had to suppose there was a use for it. He had assumed she had lost it in a fight, and hadn't thought much of the Program when it was mentioned the day before but… well, he supposed if the tech was there, there probably were people that would want to use it. "I'm… not interested right now." He said, to be safe.
Doctor Hatsume sighed, "Well, I guess it's for the best. I wouldn't want to steal my niece's…"
"Friend?"
"Test subject." She replied. Izuku wasn't sure he liked the fact Mei didn't deny it, but a moment later he started to just laugh, and Mei followed suit, hugging him again. He had a great friend, after all.

"Hi Midoriya." Yui Kodai said, walking in the room.
"That's all you have to say?" Komori asked, "Midoriya, are you ok?! We were told you got hurt on the… trip," She glanced at Inko Midoriya, who was sitting nearby on a chair. She had moved aside when the girls had arrived, and was currently on the verge of tears. Izuku could totally understand, "but they didn't give us details."
"That's normal." Yuyu Haya said from behind them. "But if he was in life-or-death danger, you would have heard that. Sup Midoriya, feeling good?"
"Haya is right guys." Izuku said with a smile, pushing his hand under the bed's cover, out of sight, "I…"
He was literally smothered in a group hug a second later, as all three girls dragged him in a powerful hug. Izuku wondered how Kodai had a stronger hug than Mei despite having less muscles, before remembering she was an Alien that regularly kicked his butt in training. He smiled and returned the hug best he could, given one arm was now trapped.
"We are so happy to know you are safe." Kodai said, in a neutral tone that, Izuku felt, for once let slip just the slight hint of emotion behind. Which probably meant it was as emotional as Kodai would allow herself to be.
"We were so worried." Komori added with a nod, and she on contrast wasn't hiding her emotions, smiling widely.
"Don't get hurt like this again, it's not good for our heart." Yuyu said. She patted him on the head, "I can't have my underclassmen get hurt just because I'm not there, right?"
"I won't." Izuku said, "I'm sorry I scared you all."
"You should see Shishikura. He wanted to come with us, but his father called him home to give him some family time. He'll probably come around later."
Izuku smiled at that, "I'm glad. And again, I'm sorry I…"
"Don't mention it Midoriya." Kodai said, "It's not your fault."
"Yup!" Komori nodded as the hug broke and they stood back up, "You got hurt, but it happens, right? It wasn't because of something you did."
Inko hummed, clearly agreeing with the sentiment but deciding to not interrupt Izuku's friends.
"I know. It's just…"
"Hey, none of the 'I might have done better' business." Haya intervened, "You should know that you couldn't expect something like this." She was being as direct as she could with Inko in the room, Izuku supposed, and he sighed.
"You are right. I… I'm probably blaming myself too much." He admitted, even if it was more for their sake and her mom's.
The girls nodded, and switched tune to talk more about the school. Apparently, the news one of their students got hurt during a trip was putting them under scrutiny, but they were already working on showing that the avalanche was a freak accident on a route usually considered secure. Izuku noticed his mom grimace at that, but he just hoped the Ondereno Institute didn't get in trouble for it. Then again, he supposed Ondereno had to be prepared to take the fall for at least some accidents during missions, given they were used as cover. They probably just didn't take the blame for the deaths, since otherwise he doubted the reputation of the Institute could be this pristine.
The girls stayed for over an hour, chatting animatedly. He asked about Hado, but Haya just said she was feeling gloomy that day. Izuku wondered how much of that was still blaming herself and how much was her fear of him rejecting her as a friend.
"Can you tell her that I'd like to see her?" He said, "And assure her I'm not… that what she told me didn't change what I think of her in the slightest."
Haya seemed curious, but she decided to not ask, instead just nodding.
"Oh, and after you come out of the hospital, we are going to go out for dinner together." Komori said.
"As soon as I can find a restaurant that Kodai isn't banned from…" Haya said with a sigh, "We are lucky Tokyo is a big city."
"Would you like to come to our house, dears?" Inko suddenly asked, Izuku turning to look at her with the others, "I'd love to have Izuku's friends for dinner."
"I… You should know miss Midoriya, some of the girls are a bit… weird in how they eat." Haya said, "I wasn't joking when I said we got banned from a lot of restaurants…"
"Well, it sounds like I will have to go all out." She said then, "Don't worry. My baby's friends are always welcome."
Izuku froze as he noticed the teasing grin all three girls – yes, even Kodai – put on a second later.
"Well in that case, miss Midoriya, your baby's friend will be more than happy to come."
"Yes." Komori said, patting his shoulder, "We wouldn't want your baby to feel alone."
Kodai just patted him on the head and with a neutral face that hid the smirk he had seen earlier, and said "He is a good baby after all."
Izuku looked at his mom for help but she was wearing a smile that told him she knew perfectly what she had done, was happy about it, and thought he should be happy too.
He couldn't help but feel she was right, even if it did embarrass him to no end. Once the girls finally walked out, Izuku looked at her. "Moooooom." He said, in a defeated tone.
The woman chuckled, "I'm so happy for you Izuku. So many friends…"
"I… Th-Thanks?"
"Also, you should know I don't have a problem with my son having multiple girlfriends, if they are all aware."
"What?"
"Just in case you were worried I mean, considering you have been visited by… five girls?"
"Th-That's just-"
"I mean, that would be a lot of grandkids…"
"Mom!"
-x-
"Midoriya!" Shishikura saluted, "How are you?"
"I'm fine Shishikura, thanks." Izuku said, "I'm probably going to leave the hospital in a week, actually. They say I will have to come back every week for a test, since I have to get keep the hand under control, but everything else is good."
"And the operation?" He asked, and likely noticing Izuku's look smiled, "I visited Kanamoto too, and he seems to have decided to go for a prosthetic arm. Something cybernetic. I was guessing they will give one to you too, if your hand was hurt that badly."
"Ah. Yes, I will have one, but in at least a few weeks. They will need to know just exactly how badly my nerves are damaged." Izuku replied.
Shishikura nodded. "I'm sorry-"
"Shishikura, please, not you too. It seems everyone that was involved in some way is sorry. This wasn't anyone's fault." He couldn't really blame the Agents or the other Trainees for not expecting three Cold Ones. The only one at fault for getting hurt was… well, Izuku himself, he supposed. And the Cold One.
He took a moment, before nodding again, "Very well Midoriya. In that case, let me just say I'm sorry you were hurt and I couldn't do anything. Is that acceptable?"
"It is." Izuku smiled, "Thanks, Shishikura."
"Don't mention it, Midoriya!" Shishikura replied, "I shall visit you every day to lift your spirit!"
"Please stop shouting." A nurse said, emerging from behind the door.
"I'm terribly sorry!" Shishikura shouted, earning a glare from the woman.
Izuku chuckled.

In the end, Shishikura seemed to be his last visit for the day. As Izuku laid in his bed, he wondered what would come next. He knew the therapist was supposed to show up in the next few days, to schedule his visits, and starting the following day he was going to get physical therapy for his hand. Even now they were making him hold a stress ball and try to squeeze it.
It was a bit painful, but he was doing it. Hopefully that meant something.
Then a knock on the window. He looked to the right and saw Hado wave again. She looked serious.
Izuku opened the window. "Can't you just visit normally?" He asked.
"I missed the visiting hours. And… Well… Haya gave me your message."
Izuku smiled, "I meant it, you know?"
"I know. You are too good to lie. Just… How?"
"Because it's not you. Whatever your species did… I trust you, Hado. You are my friend." He smiled, "You are the person I trust the most."
Hado looked away, "You are too kind, Midoriya. One day someone will take advantage of that." She said, scratching her cheek.
"I mean, I hope you can believe at least the fact that I consider you my closest friend."
"Not Hatsume?" Hado asked, "You two spend a lot of time together…"
"You were the first Hado. I owe All Might for making me joining the HASC, but even more than for anything else, I owe him because he allowed me to meet you."
Hado now was blushing a bit. "F-Fine, if it's alright with you then, we are still a team." She grinned, "You better know that as soon as they see you fit for training again I plan to make you work out until I'm sure you can fight another battle like that and win."
"Considering I got that from everyone of our friends, I think I will become a monster that can fight All Might."
Hado chuckled, "I don't know if we can go that far, but you'll be a splendid Agent."
Izuku smiled. "And you too Hado. No matter what people think of you, I think together we can be the best Agents in the HASC by far."
She smiled. He felt at ease now. Everything she had told him was still there, but it didn't matter to him. Hado was Hado. And he trusted her, even if her species was dangerous. That was what saving everyone meant.
And he would do it, no matter what.
(XX)
Nothing says promising friendship like befriending the only non-radical member of a species that perpetrated a system-wide genocide motivated by greed, short-sightedness and a systemic belief in the superiority of a single caste that can literally brainwash its entire population into believing "Xenos=Corpses" is a great idea.
So yeah, poor Hado. But this does explain a lot about her, right? Her carefree nature outside the mission switching to an almost martial attitude while on the mission, everything Midoriya brings up, and I'm sure you can think of much more.
It's pretty funny to follow it with some levity, but I think it's important, both because this story isn't DOOM AND GLOOM 101, and because I think it was an important reminder of the fact that Izuku's life since he met Nejire has become just... happier. Sure, it wasn't because of Nejire entirely, but he did befriend the girls and Shishikura because they are Nejire's friends. It all started with him meeting her.
Also, do not take Inko's comment as a serious thing. This story is at its core not about shipping Izuku, I was just poking fun at the number of female friends he has. Even if there is shipping, and that's a maybe (I have an idea but we will see if I'll go ahead with it), don't expect it to be the focus of the story. This is about *checks notes* genocidal space empires, kidnapped Aliens, dangerous tech...
You know shipping to lighten the mood from time to time might be a decent idea after all.
