RWBY Chosen King and Queen

Before we begin I wanted to say thank you to Jake Hallows for the review. I thought I switched all of the names but I guess I didn't get them all. I believe I have switched them and updated the chapters to fix them, but if I have not fixed all of them then please let me know. Also yeah I've been told that I do that when it comes to switching 1st and 3rd person point of views. I am trying to be more mindful of it but yeah I do that sometimes and I apologize for that.

Lastly, this just addresses this story in general. This story had gone through like 10 different iterations in my head. The names for the characters were a big thing for me for example. As well as the arcs and themes I wanted to portray. All of RRZA were all called someone different at one point but there are reasons why I stuck with what they are called now. Just wanted to give some insight to this story.

Chapter 12: Something more

"You ready Ruby," Drayce asked.

Ruby was surprisingly more gidy than usual but they all called it up to her wanting to see the weapon both Drayce and her made. "Ready when you are."

"Then let's begin." Drayce ran to Ruby and vice versa, meeting him halfway. Ruby swung first as she tried to strike in an arc at where Drayce would be at a speed that slightly took Drayce by surprise. Drayce was unaware but didn't let that deter him from continuing as he leveled himself parallel with the ground slightly dodging the strike. Drayce touched the ground and lifted himself off the ground towards Ruby with a strong left kick. Ruby decided to use her weapons recoil to her advantage to pull it back to her side using it to block the kick. She deflected it and as he was in the air, shifted her weapon to her rifle and pointed right at his head with a smirk, "Bang."

Drayce's eyes widened and moved his head quickly with the bullet slightly missing him, and I mean very slightly. She then swung upwards at him so he used his sword to block it but with her strength he was flung upwards more into the air. As he twirled he flung his sword at Ruby. Ruby didn't expect that as she expected him to use a different function of his weapon but nonetheless moved her head to let it miss her. As she was about to switch her weapon to shoot him she remembered, 'Oh crap.' She tried to turn quickly but was too late as Drayce was already there and kicked her away. Ruby stopped herself from flying far with her scythe. "Dang, I forgot about your teleportation."

"Well I hope you haven't forgotten about this." Drayce then tapped the bottom of the pummel as the white glow of the weapon started to turn red and the weapon roared as if it had an engine inside of it. "Dance," Drayce began to quickly strike at the air, sending multiple arcs of fire from the blade to her. Ruby decided to use a technique she recently learned, as she concentrated her aura to her weapon and struck at the flame dispelling it with her weapon.

"How is she doing that?" Cardin asked as she swung her scythe gracefully dispelling all fire attacks coming her way.

Weiss spoke up to explain, "What she is doing is something that Blake uses very often. She is using her aura to amplify her weapon, but unlike us who expel it out in an attack, she is keeping it in her weapon, strengthening it and giving it properties that it normally wouldn't be able to have."

"Anybody could do it but to keep it contained in a steady flow is a little difficult," Blake said, "But with her 'limiters' now off she can handle her aura a lot better than before."

"Hmm interesting," Argus said. He knew of this method but never used it since his semblance did the same but with his entire body and whatever he was holding.

Ruby dispelled the last attack, "Come on Drayce, I know you're better than this."

Drayce was surprised that Ruby would be the one to taunt people but smirked all the same, "Fair enough." He tapped the bottom of the pummel again and pulled on it, extending the handle more. As he did this the blade itself split apart and out came a red blade but it seemed to be made of dust but both parts of the blade were still connected to the dust blade with a small metal bar. The guard was now gone as it bends downward in a V-shape as the habaki part of the katana extended (the part that connects the blade to the guard) separating the guard and the blade more with the dust blade sitting in snuggly. Lastly the tube was connected to the outer blades and to the guard still but now we can see a shorter tube, one on both sides of the dust blade connecting the dust blade to the outer blades. There was an aura coming off of the dust that it seemed to have-

"Is the blade siphoning some aura from the dust?" Weiss asked.

Yang whistled, "Talk about bringing out something that is intimidating."

"I present to all Lance mode. It also has a couple of cool features." Drayce twirled his weapon around until he jabbed towards Ruby and out came a fireball, who split the fireball in half with her weapon letting it explode behind. "Well it seemed fire is not going to work on you," Drayce pressed a button on the handle as a compartment on the handle opened and popped out a red fire dust onto the ground as Drayce inserted a blue water dust into the chamber as it closed after. The red glow disappeared and was replaced with blue and the heat radiating off of the weapon disappeared to a calm presence. "Let's try this!"

Drayce put a lot of aura into his weapon and swung it horizontally after twirling it, making small waves rush to Ruby. Ruby didn't know how to deal with this as she began to panic. 'Run.'

Ruby just acted on instinct of what the voice said, and began to use her semblance to run in place creating a small tornado. After being able to sustain itself for a while Ruby stopped inside of the tornado and saw as the waves hit it, the tornado spun it away letting it pass her without any harm.

Drayce watched what happened in amazement. 'Wow.' He snapped out of his trance and looked at his aura levels and saw that last maneuver took a lot out of him but Ruby's stunt had done the same. 'I have to conserve my aura so I guess it's back to sword.' Drayce shifted his weapon back to its Katana form. As he waited for Ruby but when everything was dispersed, Ruby wasn't there. 'What th-'

Drayce wasn't able to finish his thoughts as Ruby was right next to him mid swing to his back, 'Oh shit.' As Ruby struck a dust cloud erupted slightly obstructing everyone's view.

"What happened?" Yang asked.

"Did she get him?" Jaune asked.

Rainier checked their aura, "It says they are just fine."

As the dust dispersed Drayce was holding back Ruby's scythe with what looked like a second katana. This katana was an exact contrast in color to his main katana with being mainly white with a black streak that was smaller than his regular katana. Also to say it was a katana was a misinterpretation as it was smaller thus a wakizashi but slightly longer than most. But other than those differences, it was the exact same as his katana.

"Where did he get a second one?" Zyaire asked. Everyone shrugged as Drayce jumped back from Ruby getting some distance.

"I got it from my scabbard," he addressed them, "While it looks the same as my katana, it can only produce aura attacks and get smaller." He then raised his shorter weapon to show them some lines on the blade to show how. "Lastly," he then connected them by the pummel and pulled them apart as a chain came out letting Drayce pull them apart and still use them as two blades.

Zyaire groaned, "I thought that part was gone forever."

Ruby was excited as she remembered the last time she saw this form of fighting Drayce did. It was to protect her, but now it was staring down at her as an opponent and while scary, it was also exciting. She didn't know why but she enjoyed this. And she wanted it to continue. "Enough talk." Ruby sped to Drayce faster than she had before, but this time Drayce was ready. Drayce parried a strike from Ruby's scythe with his wakizashi and attacked with his katana. Ruby used the end of her scythe to parry Drayce back and attack with a diagonal attack. Drayce moved his body slightly and went to attack with his katana. Ruby used her natural flexibility to bend back and dodge it before moving Crescent Rose behind his left foot and pressed the trigger making it speed to her and trying to trip him. Drayce raised his left leg in time and threw his wakizashi at her as she moved her head and dodged it. Drayce however quickly pulled on it to attack her back. Ruby twirled her weapon behind her deflecting it and in the same motion went for Drayce's neck. Drayce blocked it with his katana and pulled his wakizashi to him only for Ruby to her left and stab the chain with the end of Crescent Rose making it stuck. Drayce didn't like that at all as Ruby kicked him hard in the chest sending him flying. She let go of her grip on her weapon slightly letting the chain to uproot and used the momentum of her spinning weapon to spin with it, transforming it, as she shot at Drayce.

Drayce saw the shot coming and deflected it with his katana. But as he did this he heard another shot, followed by Ruby being in his face. They started to clash their weapons repeatedly with them moving around the arena with both trying to take an advantage. Slowly a red marking began to appear on Ruby as it appeared near her eyes like eyeliner.

"You guys, is it me or is Ruby doing things that she usually wouldn't or couldn't do?" Yang asked as Ruby threw her weapon like a saw blade as Drayce used his chain to protect him, reflecting it back at her which she caught and continued her assault.

"Yeah she is. And she is more aggressive than usual," Weiss said.

Drayce finally got the upper hand as Ruby over extended while Drayce deflected the weapon to the side and struck her abdomen with his katana scoring a blow that slid her back. "Damn," she whispered.

"Alright, who are you?!" Drayce asked. Surprising everyone, "The real Ruby would not cuss, so who are you?"

'Ruby' stood silent for a second before she started laughing, "Oh so you've noticed, haven't you? Well I wouldn't be surprised by my very own prince." Drayce got in a steady stance ready for anything. "Relax," she said, surprising Drayce as she said it so nonchalantly, "Ruby is just fine. In fact she is still here and listening to everything we are saying. It's just that since we both wanted to fight you. I let her play for a while and now it's my turn to play."

"Are you trying to say that-"

"Yes Ruby and I are one and the same love. Different in personalities but one and the same. Think of me as the personification of her potential, her full capabilities. She was not ready for her full strength when it was awakened so think of me as her fail safe." She then grinned sharply as her hair became slightly longer and her height just a bit taller. She then cracked her neck from side to side, "Now give me the same love you give her. I want to have some fun too." She then sped faster than ever and the distance between them was closed in a second. She swung Crescent Rose down on him, to which he quickly composed himself and deflected her attack and struck at her chest only for her to use her semblance and split into rose petals and move behind Drayce, "Missed me." She then slashed his back with Crescent Rose before kicking him. "Come on, my love. I know you could do better. I've seen it."

Everyone was very confused as to what was happening, "Should we help?" Jaune asked only to receive a shot whizz past his head and hit the seat behind him. Everyone was shocked and looked at the bullet's origin and saw it was 'Ruby', "I don't think so. This is a two person dance. Stay out of it."

"Okay that's definitely not Ruby," Ren said.

"Ya think?" Nora exclaimed.

Anguis sat there slightly smiling as he recalled something his king had said, "Fair enough we will not interfere."

Everyone but Drayce and 'Ruby' looked at him as if he was insane, "But what about Drayce?" Pyrrha asked.

"He'll be fine."

'Ruby' blinked a couple of times at Anguis before smiling at him, "Thank you so much, Anguis. I didn't know how to feel about you at first but you are an okay guy." She turned to who was up now and ready to go, "Now then. Shall we dance love?"

Drayce looked at her before he saw a glimpse of a smiling Ruby who was filled with determination and for some reason he knew the real Ruby wanted to continue as well. So he smiled back at her, "Very well, but what should I call you. If your personalities are different, what should I call you."

"Crescent Rose. Since that is Ruby's weapon name. That is what I shall be called."

"Very well. Let us continue, Ruby, Crescent."

"See, now you're getting it!" They raced at each other and began attacking each other with their weapons. Unlike Ruby who was very much more of a strategist, her Crescent counterpart was very much an instinctual fighter. Which was hard for him because she was a damn good one.

They danced around each other, blades clashing, as sparks flashed through everywhere. They broke from their dance as Drayce smirked, 'It's time to go all out.' Drayce's aura began to pulsate from him which surprised everyone that he was going to use his full power against Ruby. "Wait, is he going all out with her?" Nora asked.

"It seems that way. I think that crystal did more than just raise the upper limits of her soul," Argus said.

"That is correct, big guy," Crescent said, "While it did unlock the full potential of our soul, our aura. Ruby must gradually get to that level. While I am her full potential. That doesn't mean I myself can't get stronger but it is why her physical appearance changes. It's so her body can hold the increase in aura and power. Now, my King. I will respond to your power in kind!" The density of her aura rose as well as they charged at each other. Weapons clashed over and over with each trying to get the upper hand from one another.

She was able to trip him with her foot as she was slamming her weapon to him. As the weapon was getting closer he let go of his sword and at the last minute teleported to it dodging the attack slightly. However Crescent didn't let up as she followed momentum, to which Drayce had to immediately block but he was sent a ways away. "Come on King, this isn't all that you got right?"

Drayce while flying smirked at her and teleported to a pair of daggers that were at her feet. She didn't expect this maneuver and was kicked far, but she used her scythe to stop herself. "You shouldn't be letting your guard down against me. You should know that."

Crescent had a smirk on her lips, "Well it's good to know you aren't taking it easy on me."

Drayce smiled before looking at his scroll to see both he and Ruby were low so it was about time to end this. "I think it's about time we end this."

"Aw the fun is over already, we wanted to play more," Crescent and Ruby sighed, "But very well." They readied themselves, before blasting off to each other. Drayce powered his sword with water dust as he slash the air in front of with his katana and his wakizashi with an aura attack. Crescent decided to use her semblance and break apart into roses to bypass the attack, charging for Drayce. She charged aura in her weapon and collided with Drayce's weapons who was trying to block in an X shape. As they struggled against each other, blue lining on the corner of his eyes appeared which made Crescent excited, "Sorry love but you lose!" She then used the aura and launched a huge aura attack sending Drayce with it. As he was about to hit the wall of the stadium, making him lose due to stadium out, he teleported. Everyone was surprised and looking for him, "Where did he-"

Crescent's thought process was cut short as he appeared in front of her where his Wakizashi was stabbed into the ground. "Sorry for this." Drayce fired an aura slash that sent her out of the ring, making him the victor. After the match as Ruby was getting up, she regressed to her normal height and body.

"Ow that hurt," she said, rubbing her head in pain. She then looked up and saw everyone looking at her. She chuckled nervously, "I have a lot of explaining to do don't I?"

Whew now that's done I can now again update the power of our main cast in order.

Alright now let me explain the ranking. Numbers 1 and 2 are obvious but 3 and down things have to be taken into account. At the moment Argus and Yang are pretty much equals if there were 10 fights between them they both most of the time would win 5. They are even. Ruby after them would be the next strongest with her rapidly closing the gap on 3 and 4. 6 through 11 are interchangeable somewhat but they are around the same it just comes to match up. For example Weiss has a better arsenal and has more variety when it comes to a fight with Rainier, but Rainier is much more tactical than anyone and will out-think her. Yet Rainier would have a much harder time fighting Blake since she fights with instinct and tact. And then you have Blake vs Weiss to where again there are many things that Blake would have to account for. Not only that in the original RWBY there is a reason why it was Weiss and Yang instead of anyone else and Yang.

So those positions are interchangeable. So is Cardin, Jaune, and Russel. However just because they are at the bottom doesn't mean that they are weak by any stretch of the imagination. If you have ever watched Fate/Stay Night or read Fate/Grand Order, they're like the knights of the round for servants where even some of the lowest of the knights of the round would beat a majority of servants. Jaune has still been training with Pyrrha And Argus. Also Cardin and Russel has been training with them this they raise in power as well.

Lastly if I was counting Crescent then Ruby would probably be with Pyrrha but obviously lower than Drayce. But Crescent can only come out through specific means, which shall be explained. So with the added training and power to her aura and abilities, she is right under Yang and Argus.
